jamesversion: Being a true true born again christian is different from a being christian by the name of it. Infact, practising christianity in this modern world is no mean feat. Atleast 80% of christians will commit one sin or the other before the end of the day regardless of todays church service. But at the end of the day, if Riverians are given a form to fill their religious inclination, atleast, 99.7% will fill Christianity.
So,Wike has a valid point. Christian for mouth pagan for action. Ok! For me it's a careless statement. He stopped education grants to students on scholarship but claiming holier than the pope on religious matter. Claiming to be a Christian, going to church and calling God's name does not make you a Christian. You must be a Christian bfor you become a born again Christian. For me the pilgrimage thing is more of an excursion. A true convert will do what it takes to see the holy land if he/she wishes to do so. Pls let's not argue religion here. You know what I mean. |

Rivers is 100% christian, so Wike aint sponsoring any muslim anywhere. Infact, very soon we will ban the use of mosques in Rivers state. Our house of assembly will only move the motion. I think rivers is actually 30% Christians, 50% pagans and 20% atheist. Christians don't kill themselves. Christians don't behead pple. Christians don't kidnap pple. A Christian does not deny his brother because of election and party affiliation. The stories emanating from rivers do not have the colouration of a Christian state. Whenever Zamfra state stops Sharia law then we can think about it sponsoring Muslims in rivers for psilgrimage Intending Pilgrims should sponsor themselves. Wike should stop dabbling in issues that will not promote the course of governance. States are moving away from wasteful spending already. We know the majority in rivers claim to be Christians but that does not mean they own the state more than asari dokubo and his converts. The governor is not a religious leader as such he should refrain from making such statements. Why not channel the money he intends to spend on this wasteful venture to paying the fees of the rivers state students stranded abroad due to his scrapping of RSSDA. Leave trash for RIWAMA. |

rexzqcom: Good you see what mean. Before and after independence we had real diversified federalism. Designed by colonial master in collaboration with our pioneer leaders. Taking the vastness of our resources and diversity of our people into considerations. But the military dictator in 1966 created this useless unitary system with fiat decree promulgation. To give themselves absolutel power. Prior to that point in 1966, All regions controlled all their resources and paid taxes and royalties to federal government. Western region substained themselves mostly with cash crops like cocoa, rubber, timber and farmings. Eastern region also had rubber, palm produces, minerals like coal in Enugu and udi hill, etc and farmings. Northern region had their groundnut pyramids, cattles raring, other farms produce and Tin ore deposit in jos. Later when Mid-West region was created in 1963 they had palm oil, timber AT&P(AfricaTimber&plywood), Latex rubber, some cocoa, fishing, canoes/boats building, and a little fossel oil that was strucked in 1956 in Oliberi in the then delta province of Mid-West now Bayelsa.Other minerals, and general farmings All regions were doing well paying taxes to substain the central government. No regions were dependending on others. Only federal government was depending on the regions. The stupid thieving military idiots came turned everything around. Developed the national cake concept and made themselves the guidance of the cake. Turned the States to be dependending (beggars) from federal government. Is absorb. Why won't it be very exciting for u when your lazy ass depends on the oil from the region Agreed the response was slow in coming but herdsmen and pipeline vandalism are not same thing. The former is a barbaric attack by senseless herdsmen on their host. After the attack, the community will pick up their broken pieces, rekindle hope, reclaim and reuse their land. The later in this case is a self inflicted injury on the community and the environment. The Niger delta scenario is like a man burning down his house to force a tenant out. Buhari's order to apprehend the herdsmen may have been delayed but it was not late considering the time the statement was released. As for the vandals, they have committed economic sabotage. The govts responded appropriately. |

rexzqcom: Nigeria problem is not leadership. Problem is the ugly and nasty foundational structure. Unitary system sucks. Creates inefficiency, laziness and dependency. Decentralisation is the key for all the engines of the system to work at the same time. Those who have been getting by on dependending on others, are afraid to stand on their own two feet. In theory yes. But the drivers of the project are same pple looting our common patrimony today. Taking charge of all your resources does not guarantee uprightness. Even with the paltry 13% coupled with IGR, we should see visible development by now. Our pro Lem as a pple is our attitude and not the system of govt persay. Decentralisation will not stop a rougue civil servant from plying his trade. It will not stop a politician from stealing or a policeman from collecting bribe. Decentralisation cannot reduce the greed and selfishness of the local govt chair. I do not see it killing mutual suspicion either. The Abia man will still see the anambra man as non indegene. It will not stop the ijaw man from beefing the itsekiri man and vise versa. Our problem is both leadership and followership. What we need is change of attitude, value system and mutual respect. |
