![]() Yvete: I just saw this, " I bet you would be akataish*………loooool."I am far from that. I can never act akataish*....lol. I am just keeping it 100% with that guy sis. You get what I'm saying? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I should be in TX in 2weeks... ![]() |
xandy84: Can someone help explain diffirent between GMAT and GRE... I want to apply for Master of Education and the school is asking for GRE.. Please explain if you have an ida of the diffirent...Google is your best friend. |
olsmade: lolz. about finaid, yeah. i'll prolly have to mail BU - didnt think bout it before though. i have heard about the evening classes in some programs, but im sure it will make very little difference for an international student except ofcourse I want to do observerships during the day - RA or GA positions for international students have a 20hr cap per week. im leaning towards UT, Houston cos of the tuition and hope to get stipends which will then qualify me for instate tuition - daylight robbery. I did GRE way back in 2011 - twasnt so bad.I bet it, 24hrs won't be enough for you again even with a 20hr weekly job on campus. Don't ask me why...I don't know....lol. That is just what I have experienced. |
Find Out!:You're welcome sir. Are you in the US already? What's your major? |
Find out: Most graduate classes are in the evening. I used to go to school in the morning back then only because I am a RA and need to work on my research, most if not all my classes start at 6pm. Most graduate students in America have one job or the other......that I think is the reason why most classes are in the evening. |
virgin ice: Hmmmm...I see u r mistakenWhy quoting me? Is your name Ms. Virgin? Abeg oo |
imperiouxx: looool...you are really funny. But I will beg you to watch what you're saying. If there is anything like discouragement I haven't seen it here since few days past. Or you mean advising someone on direct PhD is discouraging the person? or given address the school and breakdown of the program is what you called discouragement?. Moreover, I don't see what you wrote up there as an advice or encouragement rather than another begin of havoc and controversy. Take note abeg ma'am.Ms Virgin :What are you even saying? Are you sure you are posting in the right thread? ![]() Imperiouxx: Please tell her. |
Yvete: Hahaha!! I tried to get an MBA in Global Energy Mgmt 2 yrs ago just cos' it sounds good..lol, and got discouraged because of the Almighty GMAT. I'm a total id.iot when it comes to Maths. Quit and went to field of practical Technology. Same way my Dad pressures me to round up this Masters. I'm sure its so that he can brag about it.You are so on point. I want to pursue a PhD too because my father wants his son to be a PhD holder, and also because peeps back home are over-educated. More than 80% of my friends are currently working on their PhD. I actually gained admission to two PhD schools but had to defer because I will never quit my job for full research. I am still talking to one of them to see if it will be possible for them to collaborate with my company and work from here..maybe I can just report to my Professor once a month, I know its doable....lol. Yes, most companies like "fresh bloods", and if looking for experience, go for Masters + experience/ some go for bachelors + plenty years of experience (depending on the company). 2:1 is equivalent to a minimum of 3.0 USA GPA 2.2 ranges from 2.5 to 2.9 Some strong 2.2 can make 3.0 US equivalent if converted by WES. ![]() |
bukahands: Please u gat example of schools dat accept make I disturb them smallSince you are a "biochemist", I would say you are talking to the wrong person. Imperiouxx will be in the best position to answer that. ![]() |
Yvette: Yes, I agree with you. Masters is all you need here to get a job unless you want to be a researcher or work in research based institutions. The 3-5 years dedicated for a PhD can be used to gather years of experience under your belt since "experience is the best teacher" especially in America. And NO, peeps with 2.1 or even 2.2 from Nigeria get into PhD program straight with their BS from Naija. P:S - I hope to get a doctorate degree soonest though not because it will make me sellable but because I just want to be a PhD holder........lol. |
webstradamus: Thank God for MLK tomorrow ... wondering what it would have been like going to class under -16F (with -32F wind chills). Times like this make me hate MN but it's all good sha ... we'll survive!-16F ? California is in the 30s and I am complaining. Kai!!! |
Yvete: Hey OjaP! The mods brought you back to life huh?Yea Yvette, I made some comments in a thread like that where I was first to comment and was dancing azonto....... ![]() I think the mod. got angry with that......lol |
So, I have been finally un-banned. ![]() Where are the Visa applicants? Imperiouxx: Maybe the Indians in your school are the few dullards from INDIAN around. I have some smart Indian friends here who are top of their class. How is your research going? |
Yvette: Hahaha, you are just too funny. |
Yvette: I sent you an email to your yahoo mail addy ending with a "n". Did you get it? |

TO THE POSTER ABOVE ME: May you be favoured and blessed by God in all you do. May GOD always protect you and be with you always. Whatever you lay your hands on shall prosper in Jesus name. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to you and your wonderful family. |
First, I will like to thank God almighty for sparing my life till this very moment...thank you BABA GOD. I also owe alot to my parents who have always been there for me through thick and thin......If there is truly another world, I wouldn't hesitate to choose them as my parents again, again and again. To my siblings, thank you guys for been there for me. To all friends and well wishers, I want to say a very big THANK YOU. To Nairaland - I am so happy I found the USA STUDENT VISA THREAD in 2010, it really helped a lot in preparing for my interview at that time. I must thank Seun for Nairaland. I will also be ungrateful if I fail to mention the likes of the following people who are founding founders of the USA Visa thread and who have been have been helpful in one way or the other. Thank you NETHACKER, SUPERBRAIN, DJUNIT, NAIRASPACE, BOMNY, SENIORAK47, PHY, GONGOASO etc..you guys are just too much. I hope 2013 will be a better year for all of us on Nairaland. Thank you GOD and happy new year to us all. |

My Prediction: In few days, there will be a presidential election in the USA. Obama or Romney will win.....lol. |
Since everyone is saying ok. Me too....Okay ooooo. |
aroy1: @ Oja PI am doing good bro. Good to hear from you again, and who is Lodiku ooo?...lol |
smartmachine: hello peepsI am always happy whenever I see Geologists on here. There are many schools who will admit you for masters. I will only advise you not to submit your original transcript from OAU to the school. Instead, submit an evaluated one from WES, don't ask me why. The schools convert rubbish.....lol, all they do is simple maths and not evaluate the transcript course by course. What is your GRE score? Well, a score of 1000 is fine. Most schools do not have the Petroleum Geology option, you may want to watch out for that. Abi na Hydrogeology you wan do?.....lol. California State University Northridge, Sacramento State University and City University of Newyork, City college will all give you a conditional admission with your 2.2 and a GRE of 1000. I have more schools to give if you want. Goodluck. |
@ Bankole23 Congrats to you. I'm so happy you finally made it....lol. After all the searching for school wahala. Now, we have another Geologist in the house. Hey, where is Aroy1? I dey miss the guy for this thread ooo.....lol |
tanimola22: Unless you have good capital, novel ideas and something to fall back on, I would advise that you quickly jump at the oil job. Many people know how to say this and that; it is easier said. However, the actual test comes when one is faced with a very nice offer from an oil company. Not many people can resist the strong temptation.@ tanimola22 Major oil companies always advertise any job openings. Before anybody could be called for an interview or offered a job, I assume he/she submitted a resume showing interest in the job advertised. Did your friend follow this normal procedure before he was offered the job? If yes, why did he initially apply for the job when he knew he will never work under anybody? I don't believe your story sir. |

@ Kaycome, If "evaluation is in progress",then you don't need to send them anything again. It usually takes 5-7 days for them to complete it. You should get an email to that effect from them. You may want to check your inbox or spam folder to verify that. I will be sending you an email shortly. |
Kaycome, Drop your email here and we take it from there. |
