herself:
first off,am grateful to everybody that's helped out. with advice, opinions, helpful sites and all. i really appreciate the help and thought. thanks a bunch.
the biological science angle is going ok but i've been getting brow raising tuiton fees for most of the schools and thats discouraging me. so,am thinking, maybe i should just focus my time and energy in to my school, (am a 1st year geology student in one of the federal universities), get good grades and eventually go for my masters. the stress of getting an ok school in yankee for fall is slowing taking its toll. cry,
would still appreciate whatever input you guys have o cos am still fairly undecided as it is, just thinking i need a break though my TOEFL exam is sometime this month, any advice will be welcome, to put a halt to it or to put in extra effort to get a grade 1 education at an exorbitant rate though despite it being really good,
thoughts and opinions are very much welcome, thanks.
@ herself, why are you so particular about Nursing? Geology is one of the best courses in the world.Instead of wasting your time on Nursing which i doubt if you will be given admission as an intl student, why not apply into any schools in Texas or California for their Geology programme, California is noted because of its amazing geology (San Andreas faults,Earthquakes and Oil),It can also boast of a county which has the largest oil wells in all of the USA producing states (Kern County).Texas is no doubt the home of Petroleum Geology too cos there are alot of oil companies there.Studying in any of these states will afford you the opportunity of an internship during your course of study, infact, you could be retained there after.I know all these because i had my first degree in Geology in Nigeria and here for my Masters in Petroleum Geology in one of the California State Universities. You may wish to finish your degree in Geology first in Naija and come for Masters here later, and if you want to come here for a B.Sc,i will advise you consider Geology too. Geologists here are hot cakes too.Just my 2cents.

@ 4ril,you have spoken and that is just the truth. He said he is saying the truth but its a pity the consulars are not falling for the truth..Anyway,i think he knows the best thing to do now.

Sorry, this is my second or third reply this week. I come here almost everyday. But as ya'all know, I only reply if I have to.

First, I do not want to assume that you are hiding any information about the interview. With the little you disclosed here, I can spot possible reasons for denial. Superbrain almost said everything in my mind. I only want to add to what he said already.

First, these people are not fools. For you to apply for F-1 visa with your dad's statement, you are automatically telling the consular that your father is a rich man. Abi na lie? Now, lets turn the table around. If you are a rich man, and you have an intelligent child; why would you pause the education of that child for 5 years and not send him straight to the university or college immediately? What job experienced does he need from you in 2002 (because the VO will assume you were still a child then). Even the Adenugas, and the Billionaires in Nigeria who want their children to inherit their businesses know that those children need at least University degree first. These VOs are no fools. They know what's up, and they know our mentality about education here. They know that despite the fact that majority of Nigerians are poor, they still want to send their children to school. So, saying that you worked with your dad from 2002 to 2008 in a job that has nothing to do with your chosen career has given you out. Period!!

Second, you said you took some aviation Certificates from 2009 to 2010 right? There are lots of certifications in aviation schools, which also includes "ticketing and reservations". So, which one did you take? Did you take some flight training? Your chance of getting the visa is wide, if you have taken some flight training before, and you are only going to the US to improve more. But if you have no flight training or flight experience (not as passanger oo) grin grin, then your chance is narrow. You will need to work hard to get the visa, and your age will count much in this case.

You said your they asked what Pilot course is all about? You only said you told her the answer. What exactly did you tell her, and what made you think you got it right? Do not deceive yourself by trying to impress anyone here. Tell us the exact way you said it; because from your post, that was the last question you answered before you were denied. How are you sure you impressed her with the answer you gave to that?

On a final note. The fact that she asked you for a finger print doesn't mean she wanted to give you the visa. They do it for everyone. The purpose is to track you when next you come again.

You may try again. But I only tried to open your eyes to some of the things which might have led to your denial. Always prepare well for your interview. There are some times you may even need to defer your admission if you know you are not well prepared. I was once in your shoes. I deferred because I knew i wasn't prepared enough. I still got my visa at first appearance, on a virgin passport, even without my admission letter (but only I-20), with my uncle as a sponsor. And you know what, I made it by leveraging on all the knowledge I got here. Wish you lock next time man wink

@ Ojap, you may actually think I am lying about working with my dad but i can confirm the sincerity of it. I stayed with my dad immediately after my high school and I spent some years there. I dont see any reason i would be lying to the VO about that when i have the document to back it up and I can even explain on anything about the business. Come to think of it, If I now lied to the cons about doing a total different thing when I dont even have any documents to back it up and cant explain on it, that would be a total mess. So I prefer telling the truth and I know God will favor me one day with my sincere application.

Regards
I understand you well.No problem,I wish you the very best of Luck.

@ Superbrain: The amount in my I - 20 is 43k USD and the course is just for a year. The balance in the statement is over 30M, both on my first trial and second - even though the consulars dont even check the bank statement in both interviews. My Dad is into Lumbering, all this wood processing stuffs and he have a big functioning sawmill. I was just encouraged to know about the family business, being the only son so I worked in his company from 2003 to Dec 2008. I later proceeded into an aviation sch here in Nigeria from the period of 2009 to 2010. After finishing the course and having my certificate, I started my US school application.
I think the consular believed you might be acting a script simply because they may not see reason to you working in your dad sawmill for 5years and now going to aviation school thereafter.Come to think of it,if you finished your high school in 2003,no parent will ask you to come and work in his company for 5years before furthering your education all in the name of having a knowledge of the family business(both of us know that you are not being sincere with that). You would have gotten the visa If you had painted a picture of you working with your dad after your B.Sc or Aviation school (that is if your dad business is even related to what you studied). Is the company running away that they want you to be there for 5 years before furthering your education? You would have even completed your degree in Aviation and thinking of masters if possible during these years.Your fault is that you have not been able to convince the consular about what you have been doing since 2003 ( Lumbering Business in relations to Aviation school).Right now,my hands are tied and really dunno know what to say.You have to change the story line if you truly want the VISA.Other Nairalanders might be able to advise too.Good luck

ossicle!:
Thank you OjaP
This is by far the Best reply so far!!!

Please Shewhy, just act promptly as OjaP has advised,There is a possibility that you weren't answering certain questions correctly
or may be you presented wrong documentations, just let the house into the entirety of the interview sessions
and I am uber sure you will get a green light this time!

Secondly,OjaP,please,is it possible to transfer or change universities immediately one enters the US without prior attendance @ the former
university or without making any semester tuition payment @ the former university,if one seems to have found another university with
a lower cost of tuition and a better environment!? What do you advise?

Thank you!
No,you have to spend at least a semester or 2 in your school before you transfer. You can't just transfer here easily.Your GPA @ the end of the semester(s) and no of credits transferable counts.

@Denio215. I cant say this is the specific reason I was denied. He asked me questions and I answered correctly. I was able to demonstrate my course to him. He asked for my I-20 and school documents which i showed him. All he would say was that he cannot give me the visa this time. I'm so confused {He dey do me make i slap him from the glass, lol}, but really its pissing.

@House, I want to know if schools can send documents to embassy on a student behalf. I think if they can do so, It would make the visa process easier. Please Let me know your opinions about this.

Regards
@ Shewhy,i have been very busy with school and have not been here most times BUT your post caught my attention and it's a pity nairalanders who answered your questions haven't told you the right thing to do.My questions are as follows.
1. How do you know you answered all the questions correctly, you want the house to advise you and you never told us what they asked you? So,what advise do you expect us to give?

2.What gave you the impression that you didn't make the same mistake you made the very first time?

My advise;
As the norms in this thread, why can't you post the questions the consular asked you on here and let the gurus tell you where the fault is?I laughed when you said you answered all the questions correctly. You can never be a judge in your own case bro.In a nutshell, post your experience with the consular, the docs you took along with you, standardised tests you took and let us know the name of the school, course and who your sponsor is.Not compulsory you do this but that is just my advise for you.GOODLUCK.(Not Goodluck Ebele Jonathan oo), lol.Though, still GEJ for President.

Hello house and happy new year!!!.I have been emngrossed with settling down here in yankee oh,its not easy but we go survive.

I want to thank the founder of this thread once again because the informations i got here really played a major part in me securing my F-1 visa last december.

For the Fall 2011 applicants, all i will say is apart from praying, you guys should take time to read the thread from the very beginning before you go for your interview coz t

the informations you guys will get will really equip you guys intellectually and this goes a long way in getting your visas.I wish u guys best of luck!!!

N.B, for those looking for schools with tuition in the range of 5000-7000dollars,i will advice you research about schools from

TEXAS
OKLAHOMA
NEW MEXICO
LOUISANIA

Apart fromt the fact that they are less expensive compare to schools in the east coast of america, scholarship opportunities are avalaible most especiallly in texas

universities. Also i will advice if the Fall Applicants can have one or two certifications just to add to their resume because this goes a long way in making scholarships

easier to get in Texas universities(talking from experience oh).

Ojap, how far will be coming to california during summer oh so get ready.

If any of the Fall Applicant needs assistance concerning their application that pertains to the aforementioned states, you can send a mail to femy804000@gmail.com.

Best of Luck!!!!

I have refused to comment and keep quiet on this thread praying silently for spring applicants to get their Visa. But honestly speaking, this funds issue caught my attention. For records purpose, this is to inform the house that I am enjoying my studies and living fine,my school is resuming next Jan for another quarter and everything is going on as planned.Dantecmu, please watch what you post on here ooo.Though,i assume you may be trying to inform the house that me being one of the newest entrant in the USA fron Nairaland will be in a good position to advise how expensive schooling and living here is if one is not well prepared, but you know some people here will misinterprete it here to be that may be i have dropped out of school or suffering, lol.You know our people na.My dear spring applicants, this issue is simple and shouldnt cause hot arguments,if you have your money, come to America and go to your school,if u dont have,be ready to hustle and drop out of school.Chikena.One more thing, even if you were able to pay for 2 sessions and couldnt make the third, you will be dropped and fall out of status, the wise should pick some sense from this. This is not to diminish anybody's joy ooo. But,just to tell una to prepare well before coming over.Case closed.

Wonders shall never end,Spring hopefuls at it again, You all make me laugh. For those that care to get the visa, just focus on what you are on this thread for.If any one posts on this thread and you feel its insultive, just behave that person doesn't exist at all and face what you are here for.We have hundreds of gurus here who can answer your questions,Just have it at the back of your mind that the "the self acclaimed brainful guru" is a minus one to the number of gurus you will like to hear from.So face the remaining "intelligent gurus" who are more respectful and matured.I don't know what concerns the thread with NDDC,even if the chinese woman said they should maintain an orderly queue, they will all get the VISA as they are been sponsored by the FG.I don't know the relevance of that on this thread. All serious applicants should please post something reasonable and lets learn to respect each other at all times.
TravelRe: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by OjaP: 1:30am On Nov 07, 2010
@4ril,even if the sum of credits is 450trillion, They dont bother about that, All they want to know is the Liquid cash in that account at the time of interview, Student Visa is different from Visiting Visa where they will look at how the acct is been run and discover a credit of 500M.This is a simple Logic, The consular will ask you to show an accout with its balance showing atleast the amount as indicated on your I-20.Does that make sense??If the cash in the acct at the time of interview is less than the amount on your I-20,my friend, that is a denial and the consular will tell you you have insufficient funds.

@bethangel,I really pity you and can understand how you will be feeling by now.I was in a similar condition late 2008,I submitted my transcript for evaluation and my transcript was not evaluated until 2010, Imagine? What went wrong,Immediately i ordered my school to submit the transcript,WES got it and sent an email that they will have to confirm, find below the email they sent to me for you to believe my story.
DOCUMENT VERIFICATION NOTIFICATION.
Thank you for submitting your credentials for evaluation to World Education Services (WES).We are committed to preparing evaluations based on documents that are accurate and valid. After an initial review of your documents,we have determined that they must be verified by the institution that issued them.

This is to advise you that photocopies of your documents have been sent to Olorunsogo Gbogbowalare'luOYINBO University for verification and that your file has been placed on hold until we receive their written response.

PLEASE USE YOUR REFERENCE NUMBER WHEN YOU CONTACT WES

We apologize for any inconvinience caused and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I got this email the exact day they got my transcript,i was so happy and was thinking my school should get a letter from WES at most 10 days later. If i wont deceive you,i waited for 3 months tracing the letter, all to no avail,My school went on strike for another close to 7 months again making ten months.Immediately they resumed,i keep tracking if the school got it but they said No.I called the customer care too and they said they have sent a letter to my school to Verify. What i am saying in essence is that WES customer care acts on info available to them on your WES account,so do not think what they told you is accurate. It was later when i went back to WES website that i discovered my documentation was incomplete when reading their FAQ'S.I now wrote a letter to the WES Director of Evaluation and attached a photocopy of my Degree Certificate to it.It was when i sent this second one with my Certificate that my school got the letter from WES.it was just after few days after getting it my school replied and finally got my complete evaluation in early 2010.What i want you to learn from is that I sent an incomplete docs in the first place and still WES told me they have sent a letter to my School to verify which is not(I believe this is an automated message from them when they receive your transcript on file). So,u have to check if you have sent a photocopy of your Certificate to WES which i doubt you havent done.If you havent, that is why your school havent gotten it yet.But if you have, then there is a mix up somewhere. But if you havent submitted your Certificate seperately, Better you do so on time so that they can now send a letter to your school.WES customer care acts on info on your WES ccount which u have access to too,so dont follow them.Does these helps/As per ESI,i dont know any thing about them,so i cant comment.
