@SeniorAK47,thanx for responding,if asked the reason why i chose CSUB,Should i just tell him the normal thing like it has my major,labs,easy access to Profs. etc and wait till he ask further why i do nt chose a particular university till i link it up with my research interest and options?About what i have been doing since i left school,i have just started working last year and it is indicated on my DS-160,What can i say to cover those gaps of 2006 to 2009 not forgeting he may ask for docs to prove this.I observed the NYSC between 2007 and 2008 february.This question is open to all members also.

@House,Thanks alot for your concerns,mynew interview date is Ist September,However,i will be deceiving myself i pretend not to know where the consular picked faults, Let me repost where he picked faults.They are just three points.

Cons:Why do you chose CSUB?
Me:The University has my Major,GEOLOGY,The department has ultramodern research facilities and laboratories,They operate a small class that gives access to PROFESSORS.The university has strong connections with major oil industries in Calif,the location of my school in Central California is near amazing Geology and sits on top of one of the richest oil provinces in the USA,This strong connections will give me the opportunity to interact with these companies,attend their talks and seminars,Make use of their labs for research works,potentially work on a thesis using their data thus giving me a world professional experience.(He cuts in)
Cons:In a harsh voice,standing up as if he meant me,Why didnt u apply to Universities in louissiana,Texas,Nevada?
ME:told him it is because my school is near amazing Geology and sits on one of the richest oil provinces in the USA(He wasnt satisfied)I knew na Bleep up number one be that.
Cons:What have you been doing since you graduated in 2006
Me:Immediately i graduated i observed the one year mandatory NYSC,Immediately after that went for a computer training in Computer studies and finally picked a job at my father's company.(I didnt show him docs to ascertain this as he didnot even give me the slightest opportunity to bring out anything,Jst rushing from one questions to another).
Cons:Asked for the name and what we were into.
Me:I told him the name and told him the company is into oil exploration.
Cons:Where do you plan to work after your studies?
Me:I plan to work in my dad's company.
He didnt give me the opportunity to show any docs as he was just jumping to the next questions almost immediately.All he checked was my passport,vfs,WES transcripts and I-20.Since i knew i didnt give him a strong reason in my first Bleep up,i was disorganised.And i think that was what led to my refusal.
Considering all these,what do you suggest shold be my answer to the following and what docs should i use to back it?

1.Why didnt you choose top ranking schools(he mentioned their names and told me they sit on oil provinces too and are also near amazing Geology)
2.What have you been doing since you graduated in 2006?
3.Where do plan to work immediately you finish your m.sc?
These are the questions i think will need a strong answer against my next interview.In my next interview,will the consular ask why i was denied or will he have the records and re ask the questions to see if i now have a new answer?House,i need your suggestions.Superbrain,Dasleek,Djunit,Oyewole,seniorAk47,Bomly,Chiazogom,Lapazo and all the rest,i dey your hands ooo.

@ HOUSE,I am here again,i have gotten over the last interview,infact alot of thanks to superbrain and other all members who consoled me like senior AK47,Bomly and all the rest.That is not the end of the world,i take that as fate,My new interview date is 9th september,i have with me now the print out of the emails i exchanged with my would be research professors at CSUB,The CAC of my dad company and deeds of Memorandum showing i am a Director as well as a Geologist.I am also going to follow Superbrain advice about telling the consular about my research and how most of the profs in other unis are not in that line and also how to return back home to come take a senior position and creat a new department of Petroleum Data Analysis in the company(with my knowledge)Thus improving the company's profile and also make the company one of the ten indigineous oil companies in the petroleum sector.
N.B:Data Analysis are mostly carried out in foreign countries,Datas are taken here in Nigeria and sent Abroad for interpretation and analysis, I think this is a strong point.But,if there is anybody with more points for me,i will kindly appreciate it.Please,House always remember me and please let me know your suggestions and advises.
@Rufusuzoma,Your GPA cant be more than 3.0,all i know is that 2.1 here is 3.0(WES Evaluation).You can pay the wes fees at www.wes.org.

but it was a pity the con7ular became furious on hearing this,he stood up and said why didnt u apply to Uni in Oklahoma,Arizona and Nevada thou he quoted d name directly,i told him that some offer Geology at only degree level and that sme do nt have my research interest.He said NO and started typing,i dont knw what he wants to hear,He askd for my transcript,i shwd him the WES Report and asked what i have been doing since 2006.i told him Nysc,cmputer training and my present job and asked what the company was into and i told him,he had no problem with that,He nw asked where i plan to work after my M.sc,i told him my intl experience and professionalism i might have gained would go a long way in making me add professional touch to the family biz and also serve as a consultant to any of the multinationals here in Nigeria.That was the details,please,advise on where i need corrections,So that i wont make same mistake again.Advices,suggestions and criticisms are most welcome.

@Sparta,do u knw of any Uni's dat accept only WAEC or NECO for admission?And other schools that requires Low GPA and GRE for graduate admissions.Pls,kindly share here so that all house members can gain from you.

When is your school resuming?When u get the I-20,go pay the SEVIS fees,after that,book and appointment and pay the Visa application fee,whichever you will like to do first,Thereafter,gather al supporting docs and prepare for the interview.

@Femiap,nothing do you,u have a bright chance to get the Visa,the question the consular may ask is why u were refused in 2k1 and you have to give a strong reason for you choosing a college in the first place.I really dunno have strong reasons/answer for that rite now but i will let u know in due course.Please,throw the questions to the floor so gurus can advise on what to tell them too.A college is like a polytechnic here and a consular might be wondering why you want to waste money to go to a 2yr college in the USA.They believe you just want to take that opportunity to run away.That is why they refused you.One strong reason just came in, Tell them that through talking to your Uncle who had his P.hd in Harvard,he made you understand that studying in a college in the USA is far better than a University here cos you are exposed to new researches over there and that the USA can boast of the best education in the world.Let them know that you do not intentionally want to go to the college but that you applied to Universities and colleges and that it was only the college that accepted you and since your aim was to have a world class education,u grabbed it and applied for a Visa.Summarise these in few sentences and i hope it works.Lemme knw if i can be of further help.

Even if you have 2 extra yrs,in as much ur CGPA is 2.4,Your WES evaluation cnt be less than 2.7.WES doesnot consider a "F" when calculating,if you have a F and you resit and pass,they will only calculate the one u resit and pass.They believe u having a F shows u really dunno undastnd the Course and that this is nt your fault especially when you now pass it at a second sitting.So,you dont have to fear that F will affect your evaluation,Your WES evaluation will be btw the range of 2.70 to 2.73.I am so sure of this.And yes,you can order your evaluation to be sent to as many institutions as you want.For price,go to www.wes.org.Let me know if u have more questions.

@Ludab,his Naija Gpa is 2.4 while his Wes is 2.7,ur gpa increases when WES Evaluates.Reason been that if u have an "E" grade here,U.S equates it to their own "C".They assume if u have an E,u undastand the course.If u have 2.1 in Naija,its USA equivalent is 3.0 and above,2.2 is btw 2.7 to 2.9.dat 2.9 means strong 2.2.I think u undastand all these.What is your GPA?LET me also know if i can be of further help.

@Ambchika,y not apply to a University proper?I am not so sure of a specific skul bt wt i wil advice is dat mail the school or give them a kal.USA is not like Naija,they will reply you.If you are starting afresh,go and do SAT.Why do u have to go for undergraduate studies when u ve ur HND?Y nt masters?anyway,u can search the skuls through google.
