Read a thread like and you will understand the mindset of an average Nigerian to take a loan and refuse to pay. https://www.nairaland.com/5624081/what-happen-one-fails-pay

juniorrate:

You wen newly start, where you for start? What were the elementary things you did and what are your suggestions with the benefits of hindsight?

seyisanya:
Thank you, sir. In fact, I've only been investing in MMF, with re-investment of interest option, since 2018 and never did treasury bill because I've always felt they are almost the same if one chose interest re-investment option in MMF. When I diversified to stocks in August last year, I only went in with 20% of my funds while I allow the rest to continue to enjoy slow but steady growth in MMF.

I understood you the first time. That was my own way of standing awe of your strategy.

Okay for that. It's an estimate then, but you would have to see the financial report first, right?
emmanuelewumi:
Treasury Bill and money market funds interests go into stock, dividend from stocks go into bonds, Treasury Bills. Profit made from stock appreciation are Invested in defensive stocks, REITs, business expansion etc.

You can have an idea of dividend based on historical performance and monitoring of financial report of companies. You can do this about 95% accuracy

Which k recycled investment be this? TB gives birth to stock... Stock gives birth to TB.

How are you able to know what dividends you go get later in the year. Me, na until they send cheque or I check my account I de know wertin I suppose get.

emmanuelewumi:
To enjoy stock trading you must have multiple streams of income, you need patience and staying. Cash flow gives the stay power and peace of mind, I have about 60 stocks in my portfolio the biggest stock in my portfolio is Zenith and will give a modest dividend of over 600k only in March. The smallest stock in my portfolio is Vitafoam and will give a dividend of N11k only in March.

I buy almost every month, money from my business, interest from Treasury Bills , money market funds, rental income are ploghed back into the stock market, divends from the stock market are used to buy Treasury Bills , Bonds, money market funds

The Investments are structured in such a way that money, no matter how small money must drop.

As a matter of fact someone like me love the bear market, because that is when I accumulate and get stocks at ridiculously cheap prices.

It will be a big shame if you allow this your contemporary knowledge to go to waste. Please sir, do well to write an investment book. One can tell that your knowledge is practical.

Something tells me if I am read many of your post from years back, there will be a wealth of knowledge there.
emmanuelewumi:
I am an old school investor, sorry to say I don't trade online. I send mails to my stock brokers to buy or sell for me and I give them price limits on rare occasions I give them the liberty to buy for me at the best market price. Like yesterday I asked them to sell 27,000 units of Access Bank shares at the best market price, the proceeds will be used to buy more units of UACN shares on Monday at a maximum price of N9.30k per share.

Regular online traders like Aremso, Ukay2, Jejebaba and others will answer your questions .

Hmmm. I will be surprised if Morgan is not https though. Google sort of made it mandatory for sites to be https sometime last year. I go check am again then. SSL certificate non hard to get na, haba.

chigo4u:
Nairaland is. once it has https and shows the padlock symbol, it’s secure
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 9:22pm On Jan 08, 2020
Oh okay. Makes sense. I do not yet know if they use their site as a payment platform but just to put things in perspective, Nairaland is not https secure right?
richforever123:
The link is not an HTTPS secure link but once you click it, it automatically forces SSL, I can never trust a site that is not HTTPS secure, even if they are the cheapest, I am a software developer so I take these things very serious
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 9:00pm On Jan 08, 2020
The itrade app that allows you to buy and sell your shares was what made Morgan very easy for me to make a decision.
As to if it is SSL secured, even the link you posted is http and not https which indicates it is SSL. I don't know how payment is done with them but I know that it will use pre existing secured platforms.
richforever123:
Morgan Capital is not SSL secured, I think I prefer http://investnow.ng/ they have a very built site, very professional

It is a lot more risky. No guarantees what so ever. But from the little I know, if all you want is to be getting dividends at the end of the year, you could be fine if you select the right stock. But if you want to be doing buying and selling of stocks then you will need far more education.
Oga Ema can do well to confirm that.

Gokoyer0:
Ok sir. Thanks. But the way TBills rate and bonds are going down, it seems stock trade is the way now but I learnt it's more risky than those 2 afore-mentioned.
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 7:10pm On Jan 08, 2020
Pretty easy. Register on their website, they will send the form to your email which you fill and send to them alongside your KYC documents as you would need in a bank.
Now, I de wait for further instructions from them.

Gokoyer0:
I am reasoning this Morgan capital. My Oga, how far with your registration with them? I am hoping to build my portfolio with them. Hope to hear from you soon.

Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 2:16pm On Jan 08, 2020
I think the theory of adaptation is from one of the lesser known works of Charles Darwin.

Please, what is the process for transferring shares from a late parent to his offspring?

emmanuelewumi:
High school Biology taught me that organisms must adapt if they want to survive, without adaptation organisms will die and become extinct.

I also learnt that adaptation is the modification of response to changes in the environment. Adaptation allows the survival ,protection and continuity of life of the organisms

As investors and business people we all need to modify our response to changes in the Nigerian business and Investment terrain.
We need to adapt in order to survive, protect and have a generational transfer of our investments and wealth.

For me, I am waiting for further instructions from them.
Mills55:
please Sir, what are requirements to open account with Morgan Capital? Is there any hidden charges on the account in case one didn't run the account for a period of time? Is my presence needed for the account to be opened? How does one fund and withdraw from the account? Please answers to this few questions will really go a long way in helping some of us here. Thanks in anticipation.

If it is possible, abeg help me call your wise mother and tell her say I greet am specially.

Many women in her shoes would opt for the classy duplex, doesn't make them less wise but...

Just help me greet am. That's all.

Adiwana:
This reminds me of my family. My late dad wanted a duplex.Architect already did a plan for it.Mumsy said no to build a flat.Built and rented out the house.Rent of the house took care of rent, water and light bills each whole year.We were landlords that lived like tenants while literally living rent free.Popsy later saw the importance.Learnt a lot from that experience

A house one lives alone that doesn't generate monthly income is a waste for any hustler. Houses were meant for the extreme rich but we have been so brainwashed with maintenance be a landlord and live like big man that many prefer going hungry to building a gigantic mansion which doesn't even bring in N1 but takes away from you due to maintenance. We all must be wise
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 9:34am On Jan 07, 2020
In the mist of all the insult, you did mention an often relegated business that has helped many low income earners etch out a living. I have heard of a widow who trained her kids through school and built a house from her akara biz.

Rather than move into the house which happened to have been in another location and would have taken her away from her customer base, she opted to rent out the place and continue the business where she was already known rather than going to start afresh again.

As to helping people start up an akara business, this is far better than giving them handouts. Many informal sectors are able to create jobs for a lot of category of people who are not lazy and do not have criminal mind of suddenly becoming billionaires.
delawal:
keep ranting. am not poor and can never be. its not pride but d fact. most of u here calling figures have not achieved half of what I have done.

let me tell u in ur ignorance. if I say real biz and say people can fry Amara if they can does not mean am cheap. we are talking economics. all participants whether u dey sell akara or gold or houses , all are important in any economy. personally I have opened akara biz for some people who can't pay their children sch fees before and now they can pay and even feed them well. keep neglecting d little key areas in d economy and be ranting about millions am sure u never seen before.

A challenge to you. let d owner of nairaland bring up a member here who needs real help. if only u can give d person 100k, I will provide same person with 500k

Exactly. Your business loses the ability to be mobile when you now have a fixed building. Even SPDC had to sell most of their assets in the ND.

NL1960:
That was how people were pressuring my Chairman to build a property for his company at Apapa instead of letting. He refused. When we started loosing business because of the chaotic and terrible Apapa traffic, we had to run away from there to go and rent an office in a cool area where prospective clients had no issues coming to. If the office was in a property owned by the company, it would have been difficult to relocate the office.

Oga, u de give us free mba course for here.
Recently, I started questioning companies that rush to build property assets just because they had one good financial year, I think we over estimate property ownership in this country. Just me thinking though.
emmanuelewumi:
The partners can invest their own funds in real estate. You can't be a partner for life unless you are the founding partner. Partners grow old and retire and the money shared will stop, why should the current partners have a reduction in the profit sharing income because the firm invested billion building a Property.

It makes sense for them to get maximum payout from the firms profit and each partner can invest their money the way they deem fit.

The big banks pay an average of over N400 mill to get the big 4 auditing firms to audit their accounts
Banks like First Bank, Stanbic IBTC and FCMB that have a complicated holding structure pay between N500 million and N600 million
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 12:22pm On Jan 06, 2020
I think it makes sense not to own such assets by these big firms.
emmanuelewumi:
Please send a private message, I will forward the current annual report to you.

We need to have all our facts before arguing.

The major asset of most auditing firm is their intellectual asset, reputation and goodwill.
Partners share profits and go home with hundreds of millions of naira after paying the rent of their offices. I stand to be corrected none of the big 4 auditing firms in Nigeria will invest billions of naira building a so called befitting head office.

aussig:
Dear Jabolo,

Happy New Year to you and other Nairalanders!

I have been very busy lately that's the reason I have not responded to you.

With respect to my experience providing finance to entrepreneurs I will try and provide some feedback on my experience.

Due to the conditionalities I outlined I was able to screen out the scam artists, however a few unsavoury characters still managed to get through the net.

These include people who are greedy, dishonest folks and people who really have no business running a company.

That nothwithstanding I am happy to report that there are still very honest Nigerians who are ready to stick to the terms of the contract they went into.
Such people are few and far in-between but it is possible to meet them here on Nairaland, you just have to be patient and look carefully.

Regrets
NEVER AGAIN will I invest in a start-up that is less than 18 months old. I made a terrible mistake by investing in about 3 of such start-ups and I ended up loosing a lot of money.

I let my guard down and put money in these companies based on sentiments because the promoters were so optimistic about the business ventures - all 3 of them were complete disasters!

I cannot give you the names of any of the business entities at this time but as time goes on I will give a brief description of the business models and provide pointers on why they failed or are doing well.

Enjoy the holiday
