Janyves: Oga Niyi, you're right. With my little experience with xformer based inverters, I'm yet to see any idle power below 14W(12v) , 21W(24v), 28w(48v). But I've seen hungry one's ∼48W(12v), 108W(24v) ,192W(48v). Okay this is huge, my 24v MPP is 35w max, current 24v felicity that I use is about 50w max |

Rhyah: Please advise...
I had wanted to get a Luminous Delite package which consists of * a 900VA/12V inverter * a 150Ah/12V tubular * a trolley(rack)
As at when I made my research/reviews about this package, it was #99k...Though I was down due to high financial commitments at the time but was still going to get it when cash flows in. I wished I could get a 220VA/12V battery as a different package but that's not available. The trolley itself is just for aesthetics..can do without it.
Now, the price of the package has gone up to 120k... . I feel I can get something better at that price or with a little topup as I want a 220VA tubular battery and probably a higher capacity inverter. So I intend to get a fairly used 1.5KVA/12V inverter and then buy the brand new 220VA battery...and probably get a second battery in the future to increase usage duration.
I also have a small space and wouldn't want any annoying humming inverter. So No No to modified sine wave inverters... I might be wrong...do they all make noise?...To avoid this, please how do I know a pure sine wave inverter apart from the fact that it's written on the product? Any special test? Do they make noise as well?
Budget #120‐#130k...Can this budget get me what I want? What better option, if any, do I have with this budget?
Pls advise and recommend... A 220Ah luminous was advertised for 100k, then I think you can get a 1kva for 20/25k. 5-10k for accessories. |

olaolu11: You have some info to supply still. How many hours will you use the TV, the fan(s), the bulbs. For example. I will use my fan for 7 hrs each day, the TV for 12 hrs and bulb(all) an average of 3 hrs per day. Then can your question be answered. As one of the gurus in the house will say, I am a novice and stand to be corrected.
And this your 500 watts inverter what is the make. Is the pix available? And I doubt if the 500 watts panel will charge your battery full daily especially if it is a chinko and is not well positioned. Since none of the appliances will have much surge, he may be fine. |

ololadeajayi: Good Evening Bosses,
Please I need clarification on the illustration below.
I’m totally new to solar system. The transformer in my area got spoilt so I need a solar system and I have a standby generator for my fridge.
What I want to power with the Solar System are:
1. TV LED - 30 Watts 2. Table Fan - 25 Watts 3. Standing Fan - 15 Watts 4. Dstv Decoder - Unknown Watts 5. Bulbs - 60 Watts ( 15watts * 4pcs)
Below is the solar system they recommended for me which will arrive after this pandemic by God’s Grace:
1. 250 Watts Solar Panel - 2 Pcs 2. 30amps 12V (PMW) Charge Controller 3. 500 Watts Inverter 4. 200 AH Battery - 1Pcs
My questions are as follow
1. How many hours will this solar system power my gadgets before it runs down? 2. Am I good to go?
Thanks in anticipation.
God bless!
Cc: unicmarket mctfopt niyiomolyunade ceaser efuro ojeysky olaolu11 Including the unknown let's assume 170w total. Using 50% DoD you then have 100x12 which is 1200w÷170. You get 7hours backup time assuming the battery is full. On whether you are good to go, if that's what your budget can carry why not. |

efuro: Am pretty sure you did not depoly the batteries same time. If you did not then we are in the same boat. But I will differ from you cause I believe my balancers are doing a great job. With 2 Taico balancers and 3 HAO2 attached to my 20 x 200ah batteries purchased at almost 6months intervals. Some of whigh are already 2yrs old but never experienced 50% DOD.
Though I acknowledge lithium is is the new template for us but For some of us who can't afford lithium at a go will have to make renewable work at our pace using lead acid. It still serves me well with my manual Air conditioner working till day break and a resting voltage around 50.1v
So my brother.
Don't loose faith in balancers. I only hope you did not allow the terminals touch The 2 in bold are in contrast o, one day I will have that much bank to blow AC overnight |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Can you paste your BMV [Interfacer] or [node] [[20]] config for the BMV? The settings made in the EmonHub.conf file?
You are clearly not taking all the values spat out from the BMV interface sequentially so hard to tell.
Looks like H4 - 'number of charge cycles' tho or perhaps H11 - 'number of low main voltage alarms'
If I saw your EmonHub.conf file or Python script, I could tell for sure. Am using the solpiplog to send the data to emoncms and it indeed logs appropriately on its interface and that corresponds to yours, but what gets sent to emoncms is a little different. Well check on the solpiplog forum....on a lighter note what do you log with? Edit: Corresponded the figure on solpiplog, so input 11 is midpoint voltage.... nevertheless the solpiplog is not sending all what it reads to emoncms server. Update: Sorted

tonylaw07: Please I need your advice. I changed the ac compressor of my 2003 toyota Camry and the ac guy connected the Fans direct. Now the engine is so noisy and the idle is above 1000rpm. I even noticed the car has started consuming fuel. Before the compressor was changed the aux fan only comes on when the engine gets hot. Please what can I do. Go and change it back, connecting fans direct is wrong it will slow the process of the engine hitting operating temperature which would contribute to high rpm and fuel consumption |

tipzy001: Wow, the price looks to be on the high side, more than triple of the fla, I guess it really must be very effective and lasts longer that the Fla. Thank you very much Your fla is 240k+fla refill cost @50% DoD maybe it serves 3 to 5 years Lifepo4 is 350k or 450k @80% DoD maybe it serves 7 to 10 years and you still have 60 to 80% capacity left. So I don't think the cost triples that of fla |

Since you are getting 2 200Ah fla, you can get 2 12v 120Ah or 150Ah Lifepo4. Or get the felicity 24v 200Ah (on paper) Lifepo4 which sells for 350k |

tipzy001: Any idea on how much it costs to refill and how long before I'll be needing to refill? Please I'll appreciate your knowledge on it It depends, can be as recent as 3 months or 6 months interval. Someone was advertising distilled water on this thread. Other option is to use direct rain water or AC condensate water (you will need to get them direct to ensure its clean). That said, there are active users of fla in here who can share more experience. Me am LFP and I would have just adviced you to go for Lifepo4 instead of fla |

tipzy001: Good evening everyone. So I got this recommendation from the guy that will be helping me install my setup and please would like your opinion if the products are okay and will be efficient for me, my major load sums up to almost 500 watts for now... I attached pictures 1. Foresolar Inverter 3.5kva (130k) 2. Luminous liquid battery 220ah, I'll be buying two (120k per one) 3. Charge controller 60 amps (90k) 4. Mono solar Panel 270 watts, I'll be buying 2 or 4 (35k per one) I hope you are up for the maintenance required for fla batteries. That said you may need to increase number of panels to 6 or 8 if you want to power that load through the day with enough juice left in your battery for the night |

ceaser: So I thought about the possibility of flexibility for DIYers in the use of the LFP packs. I have 2 packs of 12v that are each composed of 4 pcs CATL 105ah 3.2v prismatic LFP and 12v BMS, though different products. These cells do not require soldering job, only screws and wire lugs to from the pack.
What if there is a way to develop a quick swap reconfiguration to 24v, 36v, 48 and even 72v pack by just dismantling current packs and reconnecting with the appropriate BMS?
I feel this will reduce the headache of getting LFPs that will not support series connection. One can simply re-configure such LFPs with the appropriate BMS.
I'm not willing to try this out now o , not until I have spare LFP to play around with. I'm planning to acquire a lot of CATL LFP cells as much as my pocket will allow. Then I can expand capacity or reconfigure as I wish by just screwing in cells into the packs. That's the idea, am planning to do just that though for me it's within 24v but increasing capacity. Changing voltage will require other equipment change which would be more significant |
