PoliticsEven As A Gejite I Accept Buhari As President. by OKDnigeria(op): 10:15am On Mar 31, 2015
Though the final result of the 2015 presidential election has not been announced, the trend of things suggests that General Muhammed Buhari will carry the day.

I supported president Goodluck Jonathan throughout. I still believe he is a far better presidential candidate than Buhari. But since majority of Nigerians chose Buhari, I have to accept it. It's not about GMB or GEJ, it's about Nigeria!

I accept Buhari as president (that is, if the court doesn't disqualify him in April). I will pray for him and wish him well just as I did for Jonathan. Because if he succeeds as president, Nigeria will succeed.

So let us all accept the result and move on. Shun violence!
PoliticsI Didn't Lose My Ward, LGA - Adamu Mu'azu by OKDnigeria(op): 6:36pm On Mar 29, 2015
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic
Party, Adamu Mu’azu, has dismissed reports that
he lost his polling unit and local government area
to the All Progressives Congress in the Saturday
election.
The PDP chairman hails from Bauchi State and the
immediate past governor of the state.
Mu’azu, who took to his official Twitter page to
react to the report on the alleged defeat, warned
the opposition against falsifying facts.
In a series of tweets on his page, the PDP
chairman cautioned against lying and circulation
of unconfirmed results.
He said, “I won my LGA. Stop the lies
propaganda. It will not help you. You will only
heat up the polity.
“We will not watch many of you destroy our
beloved country with lies. I urge all Nigerians to
ignore lies. God bless Nigeria.”
Mu’azu appealed to PDP supporters not to join
“propagandist in their attempt to overheat the
polity by announcing unconfirmed results.”
He said, “Dear PDP supporters, once again remain
calm. Their plan is to raise false alarm so they
can use it to cause havoc. They will fail as usual.
Await results from INEC. God bless Nigeria.”

PoliticsGov. Okorocha Escapes Death As A Bridge He Built Collapes Under Him by OKDnigeria(op): 6:06pm On Mar 25, 2015
A major disaster was averted yesterday in Imo state as a pedestrian bridge built by Governor Rochas Okorocha at Heroes’ Children’s Park collapsed while the governor was on the bridge.

According to 247Nigeriannews, the incident happened when the governor stopped over on his way to the Nigerian Union of Journalists Governorship Debate to interact with some students of Development Comprehensive Secondary School, Owerri, who were around the park when he came.

Trouble however started when Okorocha beckoned on the students to climb the bridge so he could teach and inspire them on how to become leaders.

No sooner had the governor started the teachings, the bridge caved in with the iron bracing of the bridge cut under the weight of the governor and the students and the students started shouting “Jesus! Jesus!!” out of panic.

The governor’s aides, especially the members of the security operatives, started shouting to the students: “Jump out!, get down!, jump out!”

In the midst of the confusion, the governor appealed to the students saying, “we’re too many here, please jump down”.

The was constructed two years ago by the governor’s administration.

PoliticsThe Kidnapped Chibok School Girls Are In Gwoza, Says Freed Boko Haram Abductee by OKDnigeria(op): 5:55pm On Mar 25, 2015
Over 200 girls abducted in Chibok in April 2014 are being held in Gwoza town in Borno State, a woman who was recently released by the Boko Haram sect has told the icirnigeria.org.
She said she was held in the same location as the abducted Chibok girls.
Mbutu Papka, 56, who was kidnapped in July 2014 and held by the insurgents for eight months in two locations, said confidently that the abducted girls were being held under very tight security in a house in Gwoza.
Ms. Papka said nobody is allowed near the fenced building where the abducted girls are being held under 24-hour security. Even the heavily armed guards, who keep watch over the girls round the clock, it was learnt, are only allowed to go into the house to deliver food, water and other supplies to them.

The woman was seized along with others when Boko Haram attacked Gwoza on July 4, 2014 and taken to Mdita, a remote village near the notorious Sambisa Forest, bordering Askira Uba, Damboa and Gwoza.

The abductees, who included many children, according to Ms. Papka, were kept in Mdita for five months before being transferred to Gwoza, where they were held for three months before they were finally released on March 15.
It was while in Gwoza that she learnt that the Chibok Girls, whose abduction has attracted global attention, were being housed in a compound adjacent to where she and other abducted people were kept.

Asked how she knew the girls were there, Ms. Papka said she never saw the Chibok girls, but explained that people in the area pointed at the heavily guarded flat and said the girls were inside.
Because access to the house was restricted, she said, the girls apparently did their own cooking and chores by themselves.
“In the camp at Gwoza, there were clear demarcations between where people were kept. The Chibok girls, other captives and Boko Haram members and their family members all had their separate areas secured, though the security in the area where the girls are kept is visibly different and much tighter,” she said.

Ms. Papka explained that the conditions under which the captives in Gwoza were kept were fairly tolerable and far better than the first location, as there was water supply.
She said that after they were taken to Gwoza, their living conditions improved remarkably because the town has modern facilities, as opposed to the rustic Mdita.

“When we got to Gwoza, things changed because there were facilities there and the place was 10 times better than Mdita. We had a normal life in Gwoza, except the trauma of living in captivity. Whatever we wanted to eat, they were provided. They would bring water, firewood, etc., and leave them outside,” she explained.
A few other comforts were provided.
“They even provided perfume for anyone who requested for it,” she added.
According to her, at Mdita, she met other abducted people including women and children, among whom were many under the age of seven, all living in terrible conditions.

“There was a room we used to urinate in and because of lack of water, the place stank and maggots were everywhere. We took our baths once a daily, if we were lucky,” she said.

Because of the terrible conditions and absence of health care facilities in the camp, many people fell sick and some died.
“There was a Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor who was killed during the attack on our village, and his wife was abducted with us. She died at Mdita due to the condition of the place and the death of her husband,” Ms. Papka said.
The pastor’s wife, she explained, had diabetes and, before her abduction, had been on a special diet which could not be provided by the insurgents.

Ms. Papka said she and the other women were not raped or assaulted, although she could not speak for the Chibok girls because nobody was allowed to see or interact with them.

She also said that the Boko Haram men lived with their wives and children in the Gwoza camp, but kept away from others and cooked their own meals.
On March 15, 2015, after three months in Gwoza, Ms. Papka and 10 other older women were taken from the camp, herded into a vehicle and driven to Izge, a village, from where she was taken to her own village on a motorcycle because the road is bad.
The ride, however, was not free.

“I was asked to pay N8, 000 for the motorcycle ride, which I collected from my family,” she stated.
This website also learnt that a two-year old boy was given to Ms. Papka when she was released. The boy, who is reported to be sick and has rashes on his body, has since been reunited with his family, which is now seeking financial assistance to take the child to hospital.
“He was crying uncontrollably, so they (Boko Haram) handed him over to me as we were leaving,” she said.

PoliticsI Will Never Forgive Buhari's Sins - Adebanjo, Afenifere Leader by OKDnigeria(op): 12:16pm On Mar 20, 2015
Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, says he can
never forgive the presidential candidate of the All
Progressives Congress, Maj.Gen Muhammadu
Buhari (retd.), because of the sins he committed
against Yoruba leaders while he was head of state
between December 1983 and August 1985.

The 87-year-old, who was a close associate of
the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, said Buhari
locked up all the Yoruba governors after
overthrowing the Shehu Shagari government.
Adebanjo said this at a post-National Conference
in Lagos titled, ‘Into tomorrow and beyond’ on
Thursday.

He said, “Back then, Awolowo warned Shagari that
his government would soon hit the rock if he did
not put things in order. Shortly after, in December
1983, Buhari overthrew the government but the
man that was speaking against Shagari
(Awolowo), was harrassed by Buhari.
“Buhari picked up all the Yoruba governors:
Adekunle Ajasin (Ondo State); Olabisi Onabanjo
(Ogun) and others, who were true progressives
and locked them up.

“Somebody said I am a Christian and I should
forgive Buhari but I said I cannot forgive such.
Ajasin’s children say they have forgiven Buhari
but I am not in their party, I can’t forgive him.”

Adebanjo said the North was against the
implementation of the resolutions of the confab
because the region was enjoying the system
which is unfavourable to southern Nigeria.
He, therefore, urged Yoruba to vote for President
Goodluck Jonathan next week as he had
promised to implement the report of the confab.

He also dismissed claims that he and other
Afenifere leaders had been bribed by Jonathan.
He said, “I am saying vote Jonathan not because
he is Ijaw or from the South-South. No northerner
will convoke a national conference because
everything we are talking of that has been
unfavourable to the South; they (North) are the
beneficiaries.”

PoliticsI Trust Buhari But Doubt His Environment - Tunde Bakare by OKDnigeria(op): 10:33pm On Mar 17, 2015
The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, tunde bakare, on Tuesday said although he trusts the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu buhari (retd.), he doubts the credibility of “his environment.”

It was clear that bakare was talking about buhari’s party, the APC.

The pastor addressed Christians at the annual Lenten lecture of the Island Club in Lagos.

He enjoined Christians to vote wisely, saying , “I believe in contact without contamination.”

bakare, who was the running mate of buhari on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 presidential election, said he was not a politician but a nation builder.

He said whoever loses the presidential election should accept the winner and join hands to move the nation forward.

He said, “If buhari wins, let President Goodluck Jonathan accept defeat. Whoever loses is not a loser. And if President Goodluck Jonathan wins, buhari should accept this as the will of God.”

Speaking on fasting, he urged Christians in the country to examine the true spirit behind the Lenten fast, saying fasting was not an antidote to problems but an opportunity to submit to the will of God.

The pastor attributed the wrong attitude of Christians to fasting to biblical illiteracy.

He maintained that the true fasting ordained by God was explained in Isaiah 58, highlighting the need to help the poor and be led by God to observe it.

He said, “It is essential for adherents to critically examine the spirit behind the fast with a view to ensuring that it is not an attempt to obtain righteousness before God.”

babaearly:
When it comes to leadership capability and coompetence is probably more important than age. Below is a list of presidents who rose to lead their individual countries at ripe old age – are they doing well? Well, you be the judge!

Ellebn Johnson Sirleaf became President of Liberia at age 70 in 2006. She was 75 in 2011. She will remain president till 2016, when she will be 80 years.

President Jacob Zuma of South Africa is 72 years old. He will be president till 2019 when he will be 77 years old.

Nelson Mandela, was born 1918, became President of South Africa in 1994 at 76 years old. He was still the President in 1998 when he stepped down for Thabo Mbeki at age 80. If he had served two terms, he would have been 84.

President Peter Mutharika of Malawi was 74 when he was sworn in on 31 May, 2014. He will be president till 2019 when he will be 79 years.

President Alpha Conde of Guinea is now 76 years old.He was sworn-in in December 2011 at 72 years old .

President Jose Eduardo Santos of Angola is 72 years today. He will be president till 2020 when he will be 78 years old.

President Abde Bourtefilka of Algeria is 77 years old, and will be in office till 2020 when he will be 83 years old.

President Alasanne Quattara of Ivory Coast was 72 years in 2012 and will be President till 2016 when he will be 76 years old.

Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has been president since 1985.He won another seven years- term in 2013 at 77 years, and will be president till 2020 at 84.

President Jose Mujiaga of Uruguay was 75 years old when elected. He is now 79 years old.

President Tedoro Oblang Nguema Mbasogo, Equatorial Guinea, was born January 6, 1942. He is 72 years old and still going on.

President Michael Sata, Zambia, is 77 years-old. He became president Sep 23 2011 at 74, and will rule till 2016 when he will be 79 years old.

President Paul Biya of Cameroon is 81 years old. He will be in office till 2017 when he will be 84 years old.

President Milos Zeman of Chech Republic is 70 years old and will be in office till 2018 when he will be 74 years old.

Ronald Reagan, was born February 06, 1911, became US President at 70, and served two terms before retiring in 1989 at age 78.

I think the current presidential campaign should be issue-based, using age as a criteria for soliciting for vote is too trivia. Let’s know what you are bringing to the table whether you are 2-year-old or 590-year-old.

source: fb
you can be 80 and strong. Buhari is not just old, he is weak. OBJ at 78 played a football match, Buhari cant try it!

BTW: How many of the "old' presidents Op mentioned performed excellently well in office? Most of them are just occupying position. As for Mendela, his presidency was a reward for all his sacrifices for the people of SA. You can't compare Mandella and Buhari, they are not in the same class

The All Progressives Congress governorship
candidate for Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode,
on Saturday said the party would use the
remaining days before elections to fast and pray
for victory.

Ambode made this known while addressing APC
members and supporters in Lagos, who engaged
in a 9.2km walk.

He addressed the APC members and supporters
at the Teslim Balogun Staduim, Surelere, Lagos,
where they ended the walk.
“We will commit the remaining days before the
elections to fasting and prayers and ensure that
APC gets 100 per cent votes,” Ambode said.
Ambode said APC had proven a point with the
walk.

According to him, the party will give prosperity to
Nigerians, if voted for.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the walk
tagged “March For Change” was flagged off by the
National Leader of the party, Chief Bola Tinubu, at
Maryland at 8.00a.m.

The walk terminated at 1.05p.m. at the stadium.
In his address, Tinubu, appealed to Nigerians to

Tinubu, the immediate past Governor of Lagos
