The NJC cannot sack him - only the judicial service commission they can only recommend to the president and if the president does not align with the reasons given after - it's his discretion.

"The purported suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari, is an anti democratic act which I reject in its entirely and call on Justice Onnoghen and the judiciary to resist with every legal and constitutional means that they can muster.
This brazen dictatorial act is the latest action in the ongoing rape of our nation’s hard earned democracy by those who dined with anti democratic forces, and is symptomatic of the increasing desperation that President Buhari and the cabal pulling the strings have as February 16, 2019 draws near.
The fact that the unlawful suspension of Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen was announced just as it became public knowledge that the CJN was constituting the election petition tribunals is not lost on discerning Nigerians and the international community. This act of desperation is geared towards affecting the outcome of the 2019 Presidential elections. Indeed, it is not just the CJN that has been "suspended", it is the Nigerian Constitution that has been infracted and, in effect, suspended, under the guise of the suspension of the CJN.
The case involving the legality or otherwise of the charges against Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen is in court, as it should be. So far, the judiciary has ruled in Justice Onnoghen’s favour. So, why not allow the court to adjudicate on the matter? What is the pressing urgency?
I want to seize this opportunity to call for unity amongst the judiciary. Do not let the Muhammadu Buhari administration divide you. Do not let this government turn you against yourselves. The judiciary is the last hope of the common man and the defender of our democracy.
I also urge the international community to follow the commendable example of the United States and the United Kingdom by intervening to make those involved in this undemocratic act know that their actions will have consequences. Strong consequences.

The best they can do is to audit the payment - and request for refund of the differences, (ie Remita, that was initially collecting is it 10% or so of all monies collected on behalf of the federal govt, until the Nass intervened and it was reduced- the contract was not revoked) or then go to court to request for a set aside of the agreements signed with the discos and the discos in their own wisdom would certainly not allow it to get to that level, knowing the terms they agreed too-

TonyeBarcanista: Since the commencement of the 2019 electioneering season, I have deliberately refrained myself from making any political prophecy or projections even when I am clearly aligned with a political party, the Peoples Democratic Party and in full support of all her candidates at all levels across the 36 states of the federation and FCT.
However, I can't refrain myself from addressing a biased and misguided piece from a certain self acclaimed political scientist and public commentator, which he titled "Reasons Why Agbaje Would Lose The Lagos Governorship Election Again".
One fact about Lagos 2019 is that unlike the previous elections since 2011, the incumbent ruling party in the state and their supporters have been in serious fear mode; fear of losing their acclaimed empire, fear of losing the priced Gubernatorial contest to no other than Mr. Jimi Agbaje, the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party. Why? See the reasons;
1. Lagosians Are Fed Up With Tinubu Political Empire: Being a longtime admirer of Asiwaju Tinubu, I can sense from distance the fear of his footsoldiers ahead of 2019 poll. This is the main reason their Governorship candidate Jide Sanwoolu has been bugging every nook and crannies of the state with his posters and billboards. In all their campaign billboard and posters, NOT one of them talk about their achievement in the last 20 years. Sanwoolu is even ashamed to campaign with the stewardship of incumbent Akinwunmi Ambode, simply because if he says Ambo performed, then the question will be why was he rejected? The question will be if Ambode had performed, why was he not considered worthy enough for a second term reelection ticket? Also, Sanwoolu cannot openly say Ambode underperformed because that in itself is an indictment on their party and vindication of the position of Mr Agbaje. However, Lagosians are quite informed that Sanwoolu is the furtherance of Bola's empire and are ready to put a stop come 2019.
2. Failure of President Muhammadu Buhari
In Nigeria's political environment the failure of the party at the centre is usually rubbed on her candidates at lower level. That Buhari administration is a failed one is no longer news, it is also an open secret that the failure of Buhari will affect his party's candidates especially in the southern part of Nigeria, where Lagos is a unit.
3. The Consistency Of Agbaje's Message:
Take it or leave it, the message of freedom as preached by Agbaje has sank deep into the nooks and crannies of Lagos state. In 2015, Agbaje's message became so loud that he narrowly lost to Ambo by small margin in 2015 despite the supposed sterling performance of then Governor Raji Fashola and the anti-PDP propaganda that swept Lagos. In fact, Jimi polled the highest vote garnered by any opposition party since 1999 and the PDP broke several jinx by winning seats in both the federal house of representative and Lagos state house of Assembly. I'm not trying to prophesy but a landslide victory in for Jimi Agbaje should not surprised anyone.
4. Involvement of "Non-Indigenes":
One advantage Jimi enjoy over his loquacious opponent is that he enjoys additional support of PVC carrying non indigenes of Lagos state due to his nationalist approach and programs unlike the ethnic-based political message of the other man. Only a political neophyte will playdown the influence of this segment in the politics of Lagos.
5. Jimi Is Busiest Of All Candidates: May I educate the so-called political scientist that Mr Jimi Agbaje has been the busiest of all candidates running for the office. He has been engaged with marathon town hall events, grassroots outreach and has been very visible at conventions and other events. I think the writer of that piece is out if touch with present realities and happenings in Lagos.
6. Jimi Has Clear Policies: Aside bullying Lagosians with posters and billboards, Sanwoolu has been the most quiet of all candidates. His policies are neither here nor there that they can't be critiqued because they lack substance. This cannot be said of Mr Jimi Agbaje. Lagosians know what he stands for. His posters and billboards convey message to the average Lagosian, a message that majority have already signed up for.
Those who are on ground in Lagos will tell you that the most uncomfortable candidate at the moment is Mr Sanwoolu. However, I will not make any political prophecy but having considered these facts and indices on ground, I will not be surprised when Jimi Agbaje of PDP is declared winner of Lagos state gubernatorial contest in March.

kahal29: The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, says the National Assembly does not hate President Muhammadu Buhari but only exercising its independence.
Dogara said this on Saturday at the launching of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the gubernatorial and National Assembly candidates in Bununu, Bauchi State.
“None of us hates President Buhari and we are not against him, but we are only exercising our independence as contained in the Constitution.
“We are all looking at the plight of our people, especially insurgency, poverty and other vices that have continued to bedevil the masses.
“You can see what is happening between American president and the legislature which is normal,” he said.
Dogara recalled that NASS had,sometime last year, initiated a Bill for the autonomy of Local Government Areas but regretted that it was aborted by State Assemblies.
He emphasised that the autonomy would have diversified development to rural areas where majority of the people lived.
Dogara stated that Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammed, the Bauchi State Gubernatorial candidate of the PDP would decentralise the local government system in the state,even without the approval of the Federal Government.
The speaker said that personal efforts made by him to reconstruct mosques and schools in his counstituency were scuttled by some individuals.
He warned the people against trying to instigate trouble in the areas, saying that “it is always retrogressive.”
The gubernatorial candidate, Mohammed while addressing the gathering, called on the people of the area to resist the proposal by INEC to relocate collation centre from Zwall to Dass.
Mohammed, who stressed the need for people to change the present administration in the state, assured that PDP would take over the state in 2019 general elections.

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode and Chief Yinka Odumakin have dragged the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to a Federal High Court in Abuja to enforce their fundamental rights.
Also joined in the suit are the State Security Service (SSS) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPS).
Prayers sought include "A DECLARATION that the Respondent's public declaration to arrest the Applicants on the bases of spreading false rumours, is an infringement of the Applicants rights and breach of their fundamental rights enshrined..." in the 1999 constitution (as amended).
And "AN ORDER enforcing the Applicants' fundamental rights and ordering the Respondents to stop issuing threat of unlawful arrest..."
Also "AN ORDER OF INJUNCTION" protecting the Applicants from indiscriminate arrest by restraining the Respondents from threatening, harassing, intimidating, inviting, arresting or detaining the Applicants, by the Respondents, their privies or agents.

It is of note that the Spokesman of the EFCC, Mr. Tony Orilade, while representing the Chairman of the Commission in a Conference Organised by the Online Publishers Association of Nigeria (OPAN) on Wednesday January 26, 2019; speaking on the social media rumour of the invasion of the CJN residence had publicly threatened to "invite both Femi Fani-Kayode and Odumakin" and if they fail to honour "the invitation within 48 hours" they will be arrested. And if they honour the invitation but fail to give useful information they will be detained, then the commission will seek to "obtained a court order" to allow the EFCC detain them for a long period while investigating.
He claimed that it was Chief Fani-Kayode and Chief Odumakin that initiated the rumours through their tweet and video respectfully.
The Spokesman also vowed that despite that the video had been deleted and the tweet pulled down, with apology, the Commission will not forgive the duo because according to him, it was a serious issue capable of setting the country ablaze.
How pathetic- in the days of old before civilization - they would have been stoning these men in public - they would just be walking and gbaghun heavy stone don break him head- person wey throw am, dem no go see, and you say our ancestors were not civilized- western civilization has bought a lot of disruptions and more negatives then positives, when it comes to curbing our natural greed and corrupt tendencies
