DonaldYusuf:
Two things you should know:
1. Adenuga naturally doesn't publicise stuff so we might not know what he has done.

2. Dangote asked the FG for tax breaks for a period of time as incentive for fixing the Obajana road. I don't know if you know that.

At the end of it all, I really don't care what both of them do for Nigerians in terms of CSR or philanthropy; their success alone is enough for me - it's an inspiration. And I think creating jobs alone is even a lot.
I like your last paragraph specifically the phrase "it's an inspiration" bottomline let's think of the amount of jobs the road he is doing would create- all the farmers along that axis would bring their small farm produce to the roads to sell- and I want to believe other produce buyers would go and buy from group of farmers along that axis

Dangote did it for Nigerians or did it for his cement factory?
You people are just.......... lipsrsealed
Whether he did it because he had vested interest is not the point- the point is he has helped the government through social responsibility, come to think of it- is it only his trucks that ply the route- anytime I drive to lagos - I pass trough the same route and so many others, including luxury buses- so please don't be myopic

sad

I have no problem with anyone voting Buhari because of tribal or religious reasons

But voting Buhari because of his policies and because you think he's the best amongst others candidates shows that you are either still eating your mother's food, or you don't have any sense left in you.

P&G have been in business here for more than 2 decades, and a new plant commissioned in 2017 is being put up for sale in 2018? Na wa angry

The bottomline is they have been making money off nigeria - via exchange rate differentials - it pays them to import and sell us the products from over production in other area's or countries where they manufacture(dumping) then to manufacture in nigeria- if they were really interested in staying in nigeria- they would have applied for an nipp license like nasco and built it along with the plant - if you check well the true value of that factory site may not be more then $10m but because of our differentials they would look for someone to buy it at 200% of its true value - better business sense

A slay queen who has just concluded her final exams in one of the Nigerian Universities has laid out her terms to companies planning to employ her once she concludes her clearance and is ready to work.

The slay queen identified as Chinny took to social media to list the companies she can only work for as Shell, Chevron, Nestle and Dangote group. She did not end there. She says she will not accept any job paying less than N300,000 for a start.
May be she knows what she’s made of and the knowledge she acquired in school.

The aforementioned companies should take note.

Nairaland GeneralPlease Stop Calling Yourselves Make-up Artist by olajide8(op): 10:19am On Jun 23, 2018
Once in a while, I get upset when I hear girls call themselves make up artists- what kind of make up artist are you? Nonsense

From today please call yourselves airbrush artists - because make up artist, really do make up- they deal with silicon images - they deal with paint, they deal in sculpting- they draw images and create characters, if you want to know more - please watch FACE-OFF on dstv

To make matters worst most of the "so called" make up artists can't even produce a good make up design, for our Nollywood films, have you ever watched a blood scene or operation scene on a Nollywood set? Even to the story lines they produce for ritual scenes the make up of heads are zero "domitila comes to mind" - na so so eye pencil and powder, dem sabi - so please tag yourselves according.

You see this is the difference between the north and the south- lazy yoots, the north are a group of people who believe in social welfare- govt marries wives for them and gives them 100k, as settlement - govt cook for them during Ramadan, govt pay for their hajj trips, now this is the reason why when they find themselves in any govt office they steal, they give birth to thousands and pour them on the streets as almajiri's let the society or govt take responsibility for the children, rubbish - even the educated among them can't see this fact because they believe its the norm, and that's the way life is everywhere or should be - one day is one day

FlirtyKaren:
Yesterday, we reported that Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo will be walking down the aisle his fiancee Gifty Mawunya, in strings of event scheduled to take place today and tomorrow.

Everyone wants to know which lady managed to finally ‘tame the beast’ that is John Dumelo and contrary to a lot of reportage she’s not some ordinary lady or one of the ‘common floor members’.

Mawunya is the sister of Selassie Ibrahim, the well known NDC supporting actress who ran Smarttys Management, the company at the centre of the bus branding scandal during the John Dramani Mahama presidency.

She’s also besties with none other than Nadia Buari, so clearly she runs around in those kind of ‘high society’ circles. Anyway, rumour has it that Nadia was the matchmaker for these two lovebirds.

This is not the first time John Dumelo and Mawunya have been reported to be a couple. In September, a picture of them (the one below) surfaced while they vacationed in Dubai but the lady's name was unknown at the time.

Born February 3, 1984, John Dumelo has been one of the most sought-after single guys in the country in the past few years as his love life has been shrouded in secrecy since he burst onto the scene.

He recently caused a stir on social media when he shared a photo of a lady wearing an engagement ring with the curious caption, "she said yes!!!" Many thought John had proposed to his girlfriend but he was only a witness to the photo he shared.

It turned out that it was colleague actor, Frederick Nuamah who proposed to his girlfriend, now his wife, Materkor. Well we can say  that he used the post to test the pulse of Ghanaians, for his upcoming wedding.

For a while I have been monitoring what has been happening on all the pedestrian bridges in abuja.

They have been taken over by beggars- women men dirty looking people and kids- some poo and bath their kids on the bridge with a sachet of pure-water and the AEPB hasn't been able to do anything about them. The most surprising thing is that they normally resume to various steps on the bridge when they assume the enforcement officers have left for the day. I wonder why the enforcement officer don't constitute a special task force to work at night - they are a security risk to us, most or some of them maybe wives of Boko-Haram fighters that have filtered into the society, what is the FCDA or FCT minister doing about this menace to our society

PoliticsRe: US Damning Human Rights Report On Nigeria, Released 10 Days Before Buhari Visits by olajide8(m): 9:50am On Apr 24, 2018
Amnesty International, would say nigeria is violating human rights, the US would say we are violating human rights - while these terrorist would carry rocket launchers and face our military and bomb innocent people in there places of worship- they would go to harmless villages when people are asleep at night, and burn/kill them in their houses, where is the human rights of this against the innocent? Do we fold our arms and allow this to continue, because one amnesty that would not come and fight these terrorists or arsonists for us? Isn't force supposed to beget proportional force- if they make reference to these shiites as their yardstick for assessment, are we in Iran? What of the private property of other hard working Nigerian's being destroyed by them (these so called shiites)? Would amnesty come and replace the destroyed property? Compensate them or otherwise? Those violating our rights are the police officers in their police station that turn themselves into judge and jury for civil cases, and fingers should be pointed and not a blanket assessment. It's time to Kick out societies, that want to make us sitting ducks in our countries, and continue to allow us buy arms from their parent countries.
PoliticsRe: "There Is No Corruption In Buhari's Government" - Osinbajo by olajide8(m): 11:57am On Apr 21, 2018
Sir, this is very wrong- you may need to go to state house and ask what kind of policy file they come up with in the so-called SDG office, what kind of idea are they coming up with? Why would, the special adviser buy nokia phones for distribution to people that already have better phones? And even when they do- to whom should it be distributed? as mis-management of funds is definitely corruption - we believe if it's distributed to those in border towns it's for securing our borders, other then that is misplaced priorities, 2ndly we would like you to go to nepad and ask the NC, what she has been doing with capital expenditure money, which has been tied to projects and capital and she and her directors have been doing filmsy projects, then we advice you to go to pppra and take a register to know if the executive secretary even comes to the office, we know he only comes when they have to share govt monthly allocation- they receive, ha* the ministries which are public offices, the permanent secretaries/directors have segregated themselves and chosen specific floors for themselves, car parks, stair cases and elevators as if everybody including those they formulate policies for are supposed to serve them- and ideally staff that should be able to walk into their superiors office have to be scheduled time and dates to see them, and the same applies across board just to mention but a few of the level of mis-management and corruption

PoliticsRe: "Social Media Is A Very Big Problem For This Country" - Garba Shehu by olajide8(m): 3:35am On Apr 03, 2018
STEPHENBOI:
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has expressed his displeasure with the negative influence that social media has on governance in the country.

While speaking during an interview on Sunday, April 1, 2018, the president’s spokesperson lamented that Nigerians fail to give President Buhari enough commendation for his good job because social media tends to view everything negatively.

Shehu further condemned reports that the president is shielding killer herdsmen from the law, arguing that it’ll take more than the president to achieve such a feat.

He said, “I hope you also realise that the social media has brought a lot of good things to the world and it has also brought a lot of problems not only in Nigeria but everywhere in the world.

“Nations of the world are talking about regulations and control, this is happening in Germany in the United Kingdom even the United States you see that a lot these technology companies are being fined for infringements that they cause.

“The thing is that there is a tendency to see things from a negative point of view when your point of view is shaped and colored by the social media.

“It’s always been heard that the default position of the social media itself is to be negative, so people have turned out to ignore grand reality and project images that are very negative.

“Otherwise I wonder, this is an administration that has done so extremely well and to a president who has sworn to an oath to defend the constitution and protect every life and property, it is very unfair and uncharitable to say that he will shield anybody, and in any case, the president controls only one layer of authority, what are the governors doing, is the social media also saying that the governors are protecting the herdsmen from the law, are they saying the local government are also protecting them?

“You see it has to take everyone at various levels of authority to shield somebody from the law in those circumstances, and the president himself, his passion is for the country, this is a president whose passion is not even for the office, even when everyone is asking him to go for a second term he is keeping quiet because his focus remains the nation and the problem of the country.”

No social media is not - you are sir, sycophants like you that refuse to tell your principal the truth, because he pays your bills shameful (B.H against social media) how can a human being wake up, and tell intelligent Nigerian's that rats took over the office of the president, of the federal republic of nigeria- and you say social media is the problem?

American singer "The Weeknd" will be suing Nigerian singer "wizkid" and any other artistes that tries to Trademark "Starboy".

According To The Weekend: He wants people to know that he is the real and only "Starboy." And his lawyers are ready to take on any imposters.

TMZ also reports that the Canadian singer's lawyers filed documentation against Eymun Talasazan, a realtor. Talasazan filed to trademark "Starboy" for his own creative projects long after the Weekend's album and hit song of the same name.

According to TMZ, the musician's legal team found Talasazan was up to other shady copyright business. He previously filed to trademark Straight Outta Bombton" and "Runnin' Through the 6." Such details reveal one thing: he's mostly likely in it for the money.

"Starboy" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after spending eight consecutive weeks in the slot for number two, Billboard reports. Additionally, "Starboy" is the Weeknd's third song to reach number one on the chart. It was Daft Punk's first-ever time holding the number one slot on the chart.

Stop being naive, for you to be able to read and contribute on nairaland, shows you have the capacity to research things- even if you were not born when he first ruled this country- I was around, and all the antecedents of problems that existed then cannot be compared to what should have existed, knowing fully that we could be better- I would like to ask you this salient question- what indices do the world Bank use as a barometer to measure our economy till date? That would give you an insight into many truths and not alternate truths.

Secondly, how much was our foreign reserves in the immediate past, and how much is it currently? That should also tell you something.

This president has disappointed me in a number of area's that affect the life's of majority, but if placed on a scale comparism- the other government would have run nigeria under- not just under but buried nigeria- people like your humble self were importing garlic, it was on the shelves in local village markets and sold at higher prices, some people were importing water and collecting trillions of naira as subsidy, some people were importing eggs (the eggs with white shells) were on the shelves in supermarkets in nigeria then- what do you think was happening- people were buying foreign exchange and round tripping, the list is endless- abeg I can't talk- school urself more
