CareerRe: Do You Have A Career Mentor? by olanajim(m): 10:41am On Nov 22, 2007
Alimondjoy, you seem to know alot about mentoring. I want to learn from you!

You see, by the fact that not many people are showing interest in this thread indicate how little they care about mentoring and that is their cup of "Milo".

I had this Mentor in USA, Springfield to be specific. We have never meet but we maintain a very interesting communication. She taught me alot that I couldn't learn from anyone that I have been having daily conversation with. Yet, it took almost a year before I could succeed in getting her consent! Many factors are responsible. Prominent among them is the fact that Nigeria has negative international reputation. With Yahoo boys on the prowl, getting an international mentor is tough. Unfortunately, very few are interested in mentoring you within the country.

Mentoring depends on what you want from your mentor.

I have professional mentor, spiritual mentors, Social mentor, and adopted Parents! Adopted, because the play virtually every role my parents ought to play. I have up to five of them and I have never regretted it. I learn different things from them.

I have my reasons. Coming fron an uneducated home as the first child, and with a peculiar nature, it occur to me that I need as many knowledge as I could acquire to be someone. I see myself as illiterate and I am still learning. I want to learn from everyone willing to make his wisdom available!

So what do you seek in your babe?
RomanceRe: What Would You Do If The Women In The World Says No To Your Proposal? by olanajim(m): 10:12am On Nov 22, 2007
I meant it. I have done it before and the result was fantastic. I didn't throw party though.

You see the secret is simple. When a lady rejected you for whatever reason only to find that those better than her are flocking around you, she starts having goose pimples. She would begin to wonder what is so special about you. That silence inquiry would naturally arouse her curiosity. If you happen to be real, then she would develop sense of regret. The pain in her heart would be aggravated for as long as you are better than her man! And if she don't have a man, her preoccupation would be to get someone better than you or at least at your level. Anything below would sure make her sad. Unless either of you relocate.

Exception abound but women who can swallow their pride after committing such blunder are very few.

Let me give you an example. Hon. Bankole would have been rejected by a beautiful lady before. That lady would forever be regretting her luck today especially if she is still single or dating someone below Bankole's standard. It had also happened to 2face Idibia. The old gf is now regreting!

My point is simple, when a lady reject you, forget her and don't mourn her. Rather, improve on yourself and be a better person. I learnt this lesson from my Mentor who happened to be my guardian. May his soul rest in peace.

I will throw party and invite the angels. I would celebrate my rejection and make my traducer green with envy.

I am sure they would either come back to beg me or commit suicide!

FamilyRe: Are You The First Born In Your Family? by olanajim(m): 11:23pm On Nov 21, 2007
Okay, we get enough firstborns here.

What are the challenges? What are the positives and negative implications?

Personally, I learn alot from my parents by virtue of being first. I know things other don't know. As we grow up, it happen that our parents also advance in age. Naturally, the first born had to start helping out in checking the juniors. I don't tolerate nuissance and I am not a dictator either. We are all free but at times, you would be needed to solve a problem.

Unfortunately, I know someone who is equally a first born but can best be described as "AGBAYA"! The parents married by force after "accidental discharge" arising from their illicit romance. They have to arrange emergency wedding to consumate the good news. Sadly, the glaring disaffection between the couple was passed on to the firstborn. The couple eventually make it up and have other kids. The firstborn is a waste! The other kids get to reap from their parents new found love while the firstborn live useless life.

The above illustrates how first born can themselves be vulnerable.

Yes and No! Yes, I am not interested at the moment especially on Nairaland. No, because, I may change my mind.

Regarding emotion, I have emotion, but I am in control of the feelings. I can't be carried away by love anymore.
Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: What Would It Take?(to get a date here?) by olanajim(m): 10:46pm On Nov 21, 2007
What for? My requirement? Okay!

I want a lady NOT a girl.

She must be a Nun or a Rev Sister.

She must not be too beautiful. Ugliness is welcome if it can be reformed.

She must be ready to read at least 24 hour a week but bookworms are strongly advised to stay away.

Love isn't my concern as long as she is ready to work it out.

What next? No long courtship. We may marry as soon as papers are ready.

She must also give guaranttee that we would have twin. Triplet is an added advantage. . .

And the most important of them - TRUST!

Every other things does not matter!

In that case, I have presented myself earlier. Kindly cheak what I said and confirm.

@zignor,
discountenance my comment on Easybaby. I guess it was wrong to equate an angel with Tsunami. Kindly tell her it wasn't a meant to provoke her. But to make you open up on why the comparison. I eat my words!

If I were not a Monk on Nairaland, and you are not pal, I'd have mounted serious competition with you. I happy to be a Monk.

Point noted. I want the flame to keep burning so you can keep me at the bay.

I have no perfect hypothesis. Okay? Easybaby is indeed comparable to water. We met last week and I had a good chat with her. Zignor was right!

So, I need to get something done. Before then, may I ask you where you have been? I would expect your reply on one of the old threads.

Lest I forget, did you find her? I actually went a week of fasting just for your sake. Please let me know if she is a "bird", "water", or something else. Though, I am praying for an angel for you.
RomanceRe: Women Are Like Birds by olanajim(m): 9:08pm On Nov 21, 2007
Nonsense! Blazing words like fire! I didn't start the thread why must I unknot the confusion I created?

Your challenge is like asking me to shoot myself with the gun I created! How realistic? If you haven't been a mirror disciple, I'd have sent water to extinguish your blazing fire!

Yeah, I know about Geography. Sorry, I didn't say water made Tsunami. Whether underwater volcanic erruption or whatsoever, it still has element of water in it. I am not interested in Geography but in the comparison. Come to think of it, can't some women be compared to Tsunami, or Tornado? This isn't JAMB class, sorry!

Now ice, liquid or vapour are still water and don't blame anybody. The chemical components remains the same. The point you should note in the whole thing is that there is good, bad, and ugly in everything. Water inclusive.

If you want a new comparison by all mean. Then I want you to look at salt.

On a serious note, making comparison of human with objects aren't men to equate human with those objects. It is just comparison. I can compare my gal to Diamond, Flower, money, Angel, Octopus whatever! It depend on what I have in mind.

So what is yours babe like? Money?

Keep blazing words! I love it!

PS. Ladies, I am not generalising. I know there are angels out there and I know lot of them.

Any fool can detect the loophole. Britons don't write this way! The language is Nigerian English. The style is yahoo in construction and presentation.

The guy, not baby, is only trying to find out how many mugu are on Nairaland. I say Guys because, the I felt strongly about it. He is guy! So says my spirit.

No necessarily doing something. If you have a potential, a good mentor can help you discover yourself. You don't need to know your mentor in advance. But you have to show him why he should take you serious.

RomanceRe: Women Are Like Birds by olanajim(m): 2:24pm On Nov 21, 2007
Idera. N
the poster is like a man who started a journey without adequate petrol in his car. He didn't have idea of what the journey is like so he probably didn't anticipate confusion like this on the way.

So when he get to Nairaland, he discovered to his chargrin that the folks in the land have difference idea. I guess that is what is happening. I hope he manage to find answer to the clue he was seeking in the first place. That is if he does not miss his way.

So, Idera, are you also comparable to a bird? If yes, what kind of bird are you?
CareerRe: Do You Have A Career Mentor? by olanajim(m): 2:08pm On Nov 21, 2007
Mentoring is something that had not been well received here because of the peculiar nature of our country. We now finds people suspicious of other people. So much that the first time you approach someone as a mentor, the first thing that comes to his mind is negative perception of your intention. Indeed, some people equate mentoring as opportunity to curry favour which is wrong. Others had been known to use the priviledge to beg for assistance instead of wisdom. Personally, I recognize alot of challenges in mentoring. You would be rejected several times before you are accepted. Unfortunately, many youths can't handle rejection!

My mentors are many and I can't mention them here for personal reasons. And for the fact that they may not be favourably disposed to the publicity.

Mariajane,
could you educate us about marketing communication? What does it take to succeed as a professional? Certainly, I want to know what one need to establish one. The advertising world are becoming the silent king upon whose others depend for survival.

I also want to know what is the difference and similarity between it and Branding.
