I know if this was Nigeria, the airports will not be shut, but whoever is doing this is really really really undressing British Intelligence and Military forces in public.
BabaOwen: The Nasarawa State Police Command on Wednesday revealed how former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh was murdered
Badeh was killed on Tuesday by unidentified gunmen along Abuja-Keffi road while returning from his farm.
However, the Command disclosed that efforts were on to apprehend those behind the “dastardly act.”
A statement issued by the Command reads: “On the December 18, 2018 at about 18:35hrs, the former Chief of Defence Staff(rtd) while returning from his farm located in Panda Development Area of Karu LGA was attacked by gunmen at Tudu-Uku along Gitata-Keffi road.
“He was in the company of his friend and driver when the unknown gunmen ambushed and opened fire on his moving vehicle. The former Chief of Defence Staff suffered gunshot injuries, which resulted to his death while his driver was injured and the said friend abducted.
“The corpse of the late Air Chief Marshal and the injured driver has been taken to NAF Hospital in Abuja.
“Following the directive of the IGP Ibrahim K.Idris, the Commissioner of Police in Nassarawa State, CP Yahaya Bello and some senior military personnel have visited the scene alongside the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team, IRT, and Special Tactical Squad, STS, who are to carry out a discrete investigation into the case.
“Meanwhile, the police Command, Nigerian Army and Air Force personnel led by Deputy Commissioner of police are in the area immediately the incident occurred with a view to rescue the abducted person and arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
Unfortunate death. We never learn in Nigeria. Exactly 5 years ago (23rd December 2013), I fell into an armed robbery ambush coming from Abuja, around Nasarawa state. The experience was traumatic and I was lucky to escape alive. The robbers were dressed in army uniforms, and mounted a road block like legitimate army men. Only when we had stopped for them did I see people leaving their cars to run. I was too late and had a guy with gun by my side. I was robbed of all I had then. It was around the time BHTs attacked Abuja. I feared for the worst! Reading this story gives me serious flash back to that night(it was the same road!). We were all lying down on the asphalt while they just beat whoever they could. The funny thing was that there were 3 legit check points after the robbery point. The closest check point was within a kilometer. The policemen claimed not to hear anything.
Our highways are fertile grounds for armed robbers and kidnappers. No one is safe.
Schemerkhiz: The Superfalcons won 1Nil the last time they played Austra in 2011. They draw 2 - 2 with the Slovakia side in 2011 also during their Camping in Austra in preparation for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany.
Those teams have vastly improved. We will need to be on top of our game in all 3 matches.
I dont know much about his security details, but in their defense, some people prefer to go to farm without their details. I am very aware of 3 guards for a high ranking military officer (still serving). He likes to go hunting with his dane gun, and creates all sort of logistical issues for the boys. It seems to me Badeh was well in his comfort zone, from the pictures. Also, he must be driving a bulletproof car, so he probably voluntarily opened the door to the assailants.
dauddy97: I am actually dating a cele girl over a year now. I haven't found anything fetish from her. Beautiful, easy going and trust worthy. she nearly killed herself when I wanted to live her alone. Well, I believe nothing is wrong with this Cele girl I am dating. Funniest part is that, she agrees to convert to Muslim if she eventually get married to me.
brother, is your mum alive? You may need some motherly advice ASAP.
BascoVanVeli: I have to ask who is our penalty taker now? I was going Onome Ebi until she also missed. I could also hand it back to Oshoala for confidence sake
PDPGuy: FIFA are reportedly considering using VAR at the WC next year. Already, the officials selected to officiate at ten World Cup will be trained on the use of the technology this month, at a referee training program.
Forget. Officiating at Women world cup is cult like. Na dem dem with those female refs.
Daejoyoung: lhezuo is usually better than that though, she at her youth level like Ajibade was very technical, she was also part of the exciting u20 2014 squad ( with oshoala) and still one of the top scorers at the fifa u17 world cup. l think the girls only need more friendlies to properly decide who is who.
It all comes down to fitness and team dynamics. The longer they stay in camp, the fitter they become. Ihezuo plays in UEFA champions league and should be capable. I think the camp should be thrown open from next month. Let every capable player come, and the coach should work with them for a month before choosing. Players like Osas Igbinovia, or even Aminat Yakubu could find their way in. We need to pick the best players, not the biggest names.
I am happy that the coach has realised that he needs to work hard on the midfield and strikers.
I think Nwabuoku should be recalled and should the the firm defensive midfielder, with Halimatu Ayinde playing with her. Okobi is attacking mid. At the world cup, I will play a 4-4-2 and not our usual 4-3-3. Let Ajibade play slightly ahead of Okobi, and we have Oparanozie and Oshoala. Our 4-3-3 is becoming quite ineffective.
mostob: I think this man is one of the best thing to have ever happened to Nigerian football. Two tournaments in China and Cyprus coupled with friendly matches is a welcomed development.
You don't know Pinnick then. He has mouth but hardly delivers.
The team should try to start working on Fitness from now on. Our girls were all heavy in Ghana. I really really hope to hear news of Friendly matches from NFF before Christmas. By January, most serious teams would have been playing high quality friendlies.
Sadly, this NFF is for Super Eagles only, and the world cup coincides with Nations cup, so, I fear for the girls.
mostob: Ajibade is just like Ozil. They both have that defence splitting pass in their locker but are damn lazy. Like you said, she should wait for her time.
This is really unfair on Ajibade the way some people talk about her here. Actually, maybe one or two people. She is very very good, and I stand by that. Her first touch, and ball sense is probably the best in the falcons team as at today. Ajibade is a victim of her own success. At U20 level, the coach put too much on her. Still she took the team to quarter finals at last U20 world cup.
Even in Ghana, we saw what she did. Her beautiful goal, and commanding performances. She's DEFINITELY going to France if she's fit.
PDPGuy: If the Super Falcons finish 3rd in the group, they’d most likely meet Germany in the Round of 16. But if they finish 2nd, the SF would likely face either Brazil or Australia in the same round.
I think I’d prefer the latter scenario. The Matildas and the Brazilians are a step below the efficient and clinical Germans.
With this teams defence then we may frustrate any team in the knockout stages. Best to try qualify from the group first. After that then the defence carries the team.
Schemerkhiz: It will be very difficult for the French side to beat us this time around.... If they are to win it won't be easy for them and they might escape with 1nil victory. We have physical strength and pace than the South Korean sides.... Ordega and Oshoala can really outpace them well...with Oparanozie having her own way of bullying past them...
This is world cup, not nations cup. Our attack needs massive improvement if we're to do anything meaningful in France.
Danielnino00: I saw a report somewhere that they would be hosted by the president today (or tomorrow) ..But Pinnick has promised that their world cup camp will open in January
If camp opens in January, then that would be the bestest ever thing to happen to the falcons. It looks like Presidency was on hand to receive them. I am quite happy that the SSG was at the airport waiting for the team. That is big!
naijaseeker: I just went through records of under 16 and under 20 competitions. I am wondering, why did the coach favour Ajibade over Chinwendu Ihezuo and Chinaza Uchendu? They are roughly the same age bracket, so the excuse of introducing young stars do not really hold. Chinwendu clearly was the star in 2014 under 16 and 2016 under 20 where the two featured. In these same tournaments, Chinaza Uchendu also scored more goals than Rashidat. Further, at the Wafu Championship, Chinaza tied with Rashidat but her goals were more strategic. Rashidat scored a hat-trick.,
Maybe he feels the other two have more confidence than Rashidat or there are other qualities he sees that we do not see
It all comes down to not knowing the team and the terrain. The first team is too comfortable. Oparanozie, Oshoala and Ordega should be threatened. Let's give opportunity to players who can challenge them. Chinasa Uchendu for example, is well ahead of Anam Imo.
Well, it should be exciting to fight for world cup places. Many many good players to be invited. I think this AWCON has exposed areas that need urgent attention. Osas Igbinovia has to come in for Rita Chikwelu. Our ever dependable wing back has to be brought back, and I believe the former captain also needs to be brought back. Attackers like Courtney Dike should be brought back to compete for places. Uchechi Sunday also needs to go to France.
Preparation is key and from what I saw, the girls need at least 2 months INTENSIVE camping to reach a fitness level needed for world cup. Even after that, they then need another 3 weeks or so for technical and tactical trainings. For now, we need to start playing friendly matches.
Congratulations my people. The team had just 3 week training. The team has a very good defence, and potentially deadly attack. Happy for Ihezuo and Uchendu coming through at the end. Now lets organise grade A friendlies. I wish we play Thailand, Sweden, Korea, and Italy. Specifically chosen because they play different games.
