agbotaen: 1. the truth is that all nigerian ethnicity is a result of politics and british influence, 200 years ago , there was nothing like igbo tribe, bini tribe, ika tribe, hausa tribe , yoruba tribe or ijaw tribe , but these different people that came together due to some times language similarities, or cultural similarities or political influence did not exist as a tribe , but we had kingdoms, empires, and villages or towns as seperate units , like prior to the coming of white men , owa KINGDOM, EXISTED AS a seperate entity ,but we knew of the existence of other ika people like agbor , umunede and binis, ishans, and aniochas, ndokwas , due to migration, wars, intermarriages and trade , and later we became part of benin empire, and nigerians, and later western region, midwest, bendel and edo state , and so there was no way ika could have been part of old anambra state , because we never had any political allignment with the eastern nigeria. No be today we begin hear all this and that one Agbotaen. |
Afam4eva: I have been to a lot of government parastatals, from NITEL to NEPA to NPF to WAEC to Immigration office and the story is the same. Their staff have a very bad customer service. These people have no regard for human beings. They just speak to people anyhow they like like they own the person's life. There was a day i went to passport office and the way they talked to me, made my self-esteem to drop. Those people are very wicked and bitter lot.Afam,if they talk badly to you, respond back in a very rude manner.By doing so,they will know you are not stupid. But if you keep quiet, they will rain abuses on you.it doesn't happen only with Government Workers,it also happens to other sectors.I was at a Union Bank Branch sometime ago and the way the lady(customer representative)talked to me in a manner that was totally unacceptable,i didnt waste time in responding rudely to her and that served her right.I can tell you each time i go to her office, she attends to my inquiries calmly |
Selling of placenta by desperate women who have just given birth is the booming trade in Abuja, a development which has reached alarming proportions. Chika Mbonu, a local midwife in Abuja said, "I was first approached by two middle aged men when I was in Akwanga in Nasarawa State two years ago; in fact that was the first time I heard of it. I was shocked to my bone marrow that I had to scream for them to leave my house immediately. It was after they left that I found out that they had already met one of my relatives who directed them to me and I had to start warning and enlightening all my patients never to give in to anyone who demands for their placenta for any amount." Dorcas Ochugbo, a resident of New Karu in Nasarawa, has also been approached by one of these merchants. "It was after the delivery of my second baby at one maternity home in Masaka. The woman came and offered me N500,000 for my placenta. When I asked what she needed it for, she claimed that she works for a cosmetics company who uses it for production of its products. I asked her to wait for my husband to come so they can discuss but she left and promised to come back and never returned. Also speaking on the issue, an Abuja based legal practitioner, Onuorah Chinanuekpere, said that section 216 (e) of the panel code law states that "whoever is in possession of or has control over any human remains which are used or are intended to be used in connection with the worship or invocation of any juju shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to two years or with fine or with both." "Hence going by the provisions of the law, it could be interpreted to mean that any person in possession of the placenta, which medical practitioners see as human remains, and is found to be using same for witchcraft or juju, should be penalized," he said. "This is the reason why medical doctors strictly urge mothers to bury same after child birth."

Chronic halitosis is not well understood by most physicians and dentists, so effective treatment is not always easy to find. The following strategies may be suggested: Gently cleaning the tongue surface twice daily is the most effective way to keep bad breath in control; that can be achieved using a tooth brush, tongue cleaner or tongue brush/scraper to wipe off the bacterial biofilm, debris, and mucus. An inverted teaspoon may also do the job. Scraping or otherwise damaging the tongue should be avoided, and scraping of the V-shaped row of taste buds found at the extreme back of the tongue should also be avoided. Brushing a small amount of antibacterial mouth rinse or tongue gel onto the tongue surface will further inhibit bacterial action. Eating a healthy breakfast with rough foods helps clean the very back of the tongue. Chewing gum: Since dry-mouth can increase bacterial buildup and cause or worsen bad breath, chewing sugarless gum can help with the production of saliva, and thereby help to reduce bad breath. Chewing may help particularly when the mouth is dry, or when one cannot perform oral hygiene procedures after meals (especially those meals rich in protein). This aids in provision of saliva, which washes away oral bacteria, has antibacterial properties and promotes mechanical activity which helps cleanse the mouth. Some chewing gums contain special anti-odor ingredients. Chewing on fennel seeds, cinnamon sticks, mastic gum, or fresh parsley are common folk remedies. Gargling right before bedtime with an effective mouthwash (see below). Several types of commercial mouthwashes have been shown to reduce malodor for hours in peer-reviewed scientific studies. Mouthwashes may contain active ingredients that are inactivated by the soap present in most toothpastes. Thus it is recommended to refrain from using mouthwash directly after toothbrushing with paste (also see mouthwashes, below). Maintaining proper oral hygiene, including daily tongue cleaning, brushing, flossing, and periodic visits to dentists and hygienists. Flossing is particularly important in removing rotting food debris and bacterial plaque from between the teeth, especially at the gumline. Dentures should be properly cleaned and soaked overnight in antibacterial solution (unless otherwise advised by one's dentist). Probiotic treatments, specifically Streptococcus salivarius K12 has been claimed to suppress malodorous bacteria growth, however well designed randomised control clinical trails are needed to assess this. Certainly there is more evidence for mechanical tongue cleansing and to a lesser extent specific antimicrobial mouthwashes. |
AGBOTAEN stop being silly. You are just trying hard to twist everything from making ika look like aliens.Quit trying dude.We have ika sons and daughters that are proudly igbo but that doesnt stop them from being ika.You copy that?...if you have other ika online groups you are registered to,let me know and i will join you there and i can put up a poll in there and we will all see their opinions.Obviously it will be totally different from yours. |
Unfortunately if there isnt any more genuine love, care and affection in the relationship either from the man or the lady,no jupiter will save the relationship and if any of the two in the relationship should try to save it,be ready to be absorbing the trash coming out of your efforts.SOLUTION:if your relationship is dying, simply let it die off(cos all love is lost)and move on..you dont need your pastor to tell you that your partner doesnt really give a damn bout you any more. |
merciie: I suggest they both go for theraphy/counselling, incase it doesn't work, he should leave that marriage before she kills him!NA WA TO YOU OHH.WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THEY BOTH GO FOR A THERAPY/COUNSELLING CANT YOU SEE THAT HIS WIFE IS A MAD WOMAN?..THIS MAN NEEDS NONE OF THOSE YOU SUGGESTED.WHAT THIS MAN NEED IS ABSOLUTE DISSOLUTION OF THE MARRIAGE |
Adrenaline: theres a very thin line between a normal chic and a prostitute nowadays, so sadI keep telling dudes who trust girls so much this same thing. There is no difference between a normal chick and a prostitute.A girl might be your normal girlfriend but to the next man she is simply a prostitute simply because he has seen her in the act with other men severally but which obviously you have failed to see.Another thing here is,if a girl who happens to be in a relationship with a dude but still have other dates simply defines herself a prostitute or should i say promiscous.Exchange of money for sex doesnt really define whos a prostitute.I can authoritatively tell you all that no girl in this country who doesnt have more than one relationship.Thats the simple truth and dont shy away from that.Married women these day dey shag these days outside marital home not to talk of single ladies.Abegi! |
Sonya4all and Agbotaen,i still strongly disagree with you two.Remember i am from delta and i have heard many opinions from indigenes of these ika areas and they dont think as you two do and thats a very good sign.I still maintain, dont say we but say i okay. |
Agbotaen you have been advised to use I and not We...YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. |

By C.EYUTCHAE It was Professor Anta Diop of Senegal who observed that ethnic groups often do not realize the extent to which they share kinship with the language, culture, traditions and historical socio-political structures, evolved by communities they have come to view as rivals. Indeed ethnic groups tend to see themselves as self-enclosed communities. But as an example are the Luluas of Kenya aware of their kingship with the Luluas of Senegal? By the same token how many of us in Nigeria are aware that Anambra State is the ancestral home of the Igalas, Ngwas, Jukuns and Binis? Yet it remains historically true that Anambra State is the birth place of the founding fathers of Bendel, Imo and Benue States. Hence in language classification these separated people speak a common language which forms part of Kwa group of West African languages. From Archeological discoveries at Ugwuele near Okigwe dating their existence to some ages follows that the Igbos were descendants of the first men of earth now traced to the Oduvai Gorge in East Africa. In historical literature, the Igbos, originally known as Iduus had their territorial distribution covering South west of the African continent later converging at the whole of the low lying land mass North and South of the Niger and Benue river confluence, down the Niger and Anambra River basins right down to the Niger Delta and westward to River Okpara beyond Lagos as shown in Rev. Johnson’s map in his history of the Yorubas. Later the low land dwellers were characterized as the Olu and the highlanders as the Igbo. Tradition Waves of migratrants led by Eri settled at Anambra River basin, establishing the ancient Iduu Ime KINGDOM at Aguleri. Historical traditions relate that his progenitors included Agulu and Menri (from who were descended the Nri), Igbo, Igala, Oba (whose descendants were the Binis) Enuike and a daughter, Ulu-uwa. Igbo, an itinerant missionary acquired large Iduu followers who became known as Igbo people thus losing their Iduu identity just as followers of Christ are called Christians whether they came from Rome, London or Bonn. Eris other descendant Menri established a priestly kingdom at Nri known for purification ceremonies and coronation of tributary of Iduu Ime kingdom. Hence, the Eze Nri Obalike (Nri kings (1989-1935) in the first decade of the 20th century told the Government Anthropologist, Northcote Thomas, that the area subject to him was Iduu. On the same matter Lawton wrote: “A marked feature of this (Nri) tribe is its hostility to the European, natural enough, when it is remembered that prior to the British, the Obalike was Eze Nri and crowned the kings of Benin and presided over all the religious observation of surrounding peoples”. It was the tradition that coronation titles were usually conferred on tributary kings by the ancestral Iduu Ime kingdom which also assigned to each a General as head of the palace guards. Hence in honour of their ancestor, Atta the ruler of Igala was titled Atta of Igala. The founders of Benin were the descendants of Oba Eri whose habitation was UgwuOgodo where exists today, the Ogodo spring in Umuleri, near Aguleri. Hence the Binis in modem times still trace their ancestry of “Igodo” a corruption of Ogodo, an Igbo word for elevated place. Hence the first king of Benin, Iweka (anglicized to Eweka) was titled Oba in honour of their ancestor, Oba Eri. Eweka is English spelling of Iweka just as the letter E in England is pronounced I, This name Iweka an Igbo name in full means Iweka n’uno. It reflected the internal feud at the time the-would-be king was born. His second name was Edoziuno, Edo for short, meaning peace maker, thus was derived Edo Kingdom. The name Benin itself was a corruption of the Igbo words. 'llo obi inu', meaning a place of bitter mindedness, again reflecting the quarrelsomeness of the people at that time over kingship disputes. To the first Benin king was assigned General Ado from Iduu Ime as head of his palace guards. According to the tradition of the people, Egbunike, the founding father of the Ogbunikes has three brothers, Awkuzu, Umuleri and Nando and a sister, Nwonicha. General Ado who was assigned to the Oba of Benin, married Nwonicha and the marriage resulted in such progenies as Onitsha Ado, Ado Ekiti etc. Background The Marriage formed the basis of the link between Ogbunike and Onitsha, thus giving the historical background to the Igbo adage which says: “Afuzi Onicha, Ogbunike ewelu,” meaning in the absence of Onitsha, Ogbunike takes its turn. When therefore Eze Chima, a descendant of General Ado in his flight with others, first from Benin, then from Agbor, named his son Onitsha, in honour of their maternal ancestors, and established Onitsha Ugbo and Onitsha Olona and the entire Umu Ezechima being referred to as Onitsha Ado, the origin of nomenclature cannot therefore be in serious doubt. The Igalas who are descendants of Atta Eri had their ancestral home in Aguleri in the area of Ama Atta (Atta-in-the-fields). Igala was said to be the father of Ikem and was reputed to have such descendants as Omor, Omasi and Umuneke. The Ikems had sometimes settled in Umukete Agukeri, whose descendants were supposed to be the Ikem of Nando, Ikems in Nsukka, Ikems in Onitsha and other areas. It is relevant to note that in a preliminary statement on the excavation made in Aguleri by the Department of History and Archaeology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Dr. F.N. Anozie said that the excavation took place at a site known as “Okpuno Igala”; and that is known to everybody including school children in Aguleri as a deserted Igala settlement. He said, there were sites with walls, one deserted and the other still inhabited by a group of Aguleri people, who during the author’s filed work in the area said they had blood relations with the Igalas. At the approach is the Ama Atta which seemed to have once been a village square. Almost at the centre of the enclosure is a mound known as “Ukpo eze” (kings throne” and North –East of the mound is the Owelle Atta (toilet area) and Ajo Agu Atta (cemetery). The present Umukete people in Aguleri who claim blood relationship with the Igala people have their village walled, and traces of the wall could still be seen today. When an elderly man from this group was asked by excavators from the University the relationship between them and the Igalas, he said that the father of Igala and Igbo were sons of the same parents and that whenever anybody from Umukete went to Idah he normally would go to greet the Atta or the King. The greeting usually went as follows: “Ata abikibo bie takata bie Igala” which translates the lgbo saying that “Igbo is senior to Atta and Atta begot lgala. This is also reflected in the lgbo saying that: lgbo mulu Atta, mana Atta mulu lgala.” This oneness of lgbo and lgala is also reflected in lgbo adage which says “Alusi lgbo jebe mbana, obulu, alusi obodo lgala” which interprets that the spirits of lgbo-land in transit constitutes the spirit of lgalaland. Those who still doubt the common ancestry of lgbo and lgala could refresh their memory with this popular lgbo adage which says, “ Egbusia lgbo nine, lgbo afodukwa na lgala”, meaning even if all lgbos are wiped out of existence, the lgbos still remain in lgalaland. As with lgala, so is ldoma, who still have remnants of ancestors of ldoma community in Aguleri. Aku was the fourth son of Agulu whose pregnancy were the Jukuns. The Jukuns as a result of their assertion of their monarchical sovereignty moved North-East of the Middle Belt area. They adopted a kingship tradition that is based on the lgbo abuana (puffada) life cycle. As the puff ada is said never gives birth naturally, but that the young ones bores through its mother which dies in process, the Jukuns kings live very short lives, dying untimely after about seven years when there are signs of maturity of a successor. The Jukuns greet their kings after his coronation as Agaba Iduu meaning” Iduu Field Marshal whereas in their ancestral lduu land, Agaba Iduu does not refer to the king but to a war lord. Traditionally, the Jukun king’s title is Annum Agaba or Ojogwu Oji Agaba. The Jukun separation from Iduu kingship tradition followed the battle of Nando waged against their relations, the Aguleries. It ended in the Jukuns settling up coronation spot in Wukari. Thus the Nandos in Wukari, in the Middle Belt are presumed to be relations to Ikem, son of lgala in Benue State, and the Nandos in the present Anambra Local Government Area. The war of succession from lduu Kingdom was initiated by the Oba of Benin known in lgbo historical literature as Agha lduu na Oba. (war of the lduu and Oba). It was a protracted war that touched most lgbo areas. It was intensified when the Benins acquired arms from the Portuguese. Then followed the war of secession of lgala initiated by the Atta. General Ogbe the son of Ajide attacked him at ldah, and was supported by General Udenze who controlled the Anam riverine area. Onoja Nwoboli left Aguleri and joined the lgalas because he was one of the remnants of the lgala descendants still at their Aguleri ancestral home. Disturbances General Onoja was stopped at Ogurugu from pushing Southward by General Enewelue who founded the Anyamelum area and part of Nsukka districts. But some remnant of lgala at Aguleri loyal to Atta created disturbances at their Aguleri ancestral home which made a section of Okpuno Nri, to move in a hysteria of haste to the present Imo State where they settled as Ngwas, a name reflecting the nature of the hurry (ngwa ngwa) with which they fled. Okpuno Nris were made up of Okpu-enu, Okpuana and Aro. From the Okpuno dynasty came Disi Nri whose descendants founded Abacha named after their leader, Ikendu Abacheleku, in the present Idemili Local Government Area. There the principal village is Umudisi. Their ancestral home is Umudisi village at Ikenga Aguleri. Of the Okpuno elements comprising Okpuenu, Okpuana and Aro, the Okpuana people during the lgala disturbances left in a hurry hence their present settlement is known as Okpuala Ngwa. In remembrance of their ancestral structure and traditions during the Annual get-together of the Ngwas of Okpuala, they usually went on a pilgrimage to Okpuno Ngwa. |
BELOW IS AN ARTICLE WRITTEN AND POSTED BY EMEKA ESOGBUE IN 2008.WE ALL SHOULD KNOW THAT HE IS AN IGBO MAN AND SHOULD BE DISREGARDED IN TOTALITY WHEN HE COMES UP TODAY TO SAY ANIOMA IS AN ETHNIC GROUP OR NOT IGBO BLA BLA BLA.THIS MAN AND HIS COHORTS ARE BEGINNING TO EMBARRASS IGBOS IN DELTA STATE ...(I NEEDED TO POST THE FULL ARTICLE HERE FOR ALL TO READ). http://www.openarticle.com/article.cfm?id=F2421454-5484-40E0-AE680822B647084F EXCERPTS 2008 Failed Igbo Day: Ohaneze Ndiigbo Do Something Today Posted on 10/6/2008 by Emeka Esogbue As I seek to publish this article, I must state categorically that I expect unaccountable number of rebuttals from my non tolerant fellow Igbo readers but in spite of this, the truth must be told because it is only this truth that can set us free from the present predicaments our Igbo nation is facing. I wish to remind our fellow IgboS who normally view constructive works on the Igbo situation in nation as attempts to denigrate the people that balanced criticisms prescribes perquisite for recovery and rediscovery for the people and this for long has remained the major instruments several people have utilized in radically turning around their societies for good. Biological and cultural affinities should not make us realize that we are associated with problems. One should however still be grateful to the like of former Governor Achike Udenwa of Imo State one of the few Igbo men that believe that problems are leaving side by side with Igbo to the extent that the ethnic group is not finding its feet politically in the present day Nigeria. Achike Udenwa in a way has helped to portray that truth about core issues about the Igbo race and its segments needs discussed and addressed thoroughly. As a key player in the political affairs of the Igbo land there is no doubt that he has a perfect understanding of politics and exactly how it affects the Igbo people of Nigeria. Our Igbo leaders obviously continue to fail us where it matters and have themselves proved that they cannot keep the light of the spirit of leadership of the race burning as lit by Azikiwe,Ibiam,Osadebe,Okpara and others ![]() The September 2008 failed Igbo Day have not spoken in our favour but have really further confirmed that all is not well within the camp of the race that everyone even outside the country once tipped to produce the likes of sound minds that would usefully rule the country for many to come. In 2008, at the venue of the celebration of Igbo Day in Okpara Square in Enugu State, Nigeria suspected youth wing of MASOB invaded the venue and disrupted the celebration half way into the event. Events like this are not new to the Igbo race but what was perhaps strange was that the Igbo perhaps for the first time have decided to fight themselves dirty in the public to the extent that Otunba Gbenga Daniels had to intercede on behalf of the elders of Igbo present on the occasion for justice to be tampered with mercy. We thank the almighty God that the youths MASSOB listened after all. Other tribes seem to posses the charisma lacking among the Igbo indigenes and indeed the Igbo society as a whole. This charisma is the ability to speak and be listened to, ability to gain recognition as a tribal leader, ability to be held as one with insignia of leadership and ability to posses the attribute of recognition for the leadership control of a society. The problem of the Igbo in todays society of Nigeria begins with the absence of any force that speaks and expects to be listened to as one great leader with the mandate of the people perhaps since the exit of the Great Zik of Africa. Even some critics will argue that Azikiwe himself found himself in similar socio-political mess as his presumed leadership of the Ndiigbo was frequently challenged. The height of this can best be defined with the events of the Nigeria-Biafra war in which the Great Zik defected to Nigeria because he wanted to be part of the planning process of Nigeria but the opportunity was never accorded him. Still wanting to remain relevant he defected to Nigeria where he believed that better respect would be accorded him. One thing that puzzles me is that even Ohaneze have found itself overwhelmed by this problem of the Igbo leaving a lot of vacuum asking to be solved. Is it not right for us to conclude that the Igbo are facing the worst stage as a nation in nation? As further noted by Achike Udenwa, the failure of the Igbo is a collective thing.I blame ourselves for the fate of the Ndiigbo today, because we are contributed to the problem of elevating individual interest rather than that of the collective Igbo race? We recall that the Igbo in the past 8 years of Obasanjo administration produced 5 senate leaders and all the five states of the South-East produced one senate leader each and at present an Igbo man is the chairman of People?s Democratic Party so one can obviously understand the viewpoint of this Ex-Governor but these leadership positions have translated to nothing for the Igbo larger society as nothing has changed for us. The southeast is the most politically divided today in the entire nation of Nigeria and no one Governor or leader in region has firmly stood up to challenge this situation at hand. Again the region is the most relegated among all the existing geo-political regions of the country. The issue of erosion which plagues the region and other Igbo lands in the country continues unchecked without a single Governor of Igbo extraction rising to the challenge and rallying round other governors to seek solution to this problem which drives the people of the region o other regions where they further constitute the second largest ethnic-groups after the natives of such regions, developing every region they come across with so much burden of taxation and discrimination among several others the opportunity of developing our own Igbo land are therefore lost to nothing. Ordinarily the Ndi igbo have no place in the politics of Nigeria which they have worked so hard to build more than every other tribe as every single region of the country have had the Igbo contributing to its development whether directly or indirectly. Even the population of Ndi igbo have remained grossly undercounted as far back as the history of population census in Nigeria can take us back yet Ohaneze have not considered it wise to radically gather the vast brains of ethnic group from Imo, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Delta and Rivers and seek solutions to the problems troubling us recognizing that cross-fertilization of ideas and not rebuttals and pretences will help us to overcome the problems.Ever since the Lawmakers in the country moved for the creation a sixth state for the region to help balance the number of states existing in the South-Eastern region, no single Igbo leader has radically reminded the Nigerian Government of this development lately. Haba! Something must be wrong somewhere. The southeastern region is the home of the Igbo nation, and the Igbo are significantly found in Delta State, Rivers State, Cameroun and Equatorial Guinea, the socio-economic and political well-beings of the Igbo of Delta and Rivers States especially are tied around the southeastern region of Nigeria who indeed are expecting the region to determine their political climates in the entity of Nigeria but these bulk of people appear to be losing hope after exhausting their patience. While the Igbo in Delta State especially have patiently awaited the larger society to push forward their bid for the creation of Anioma State unsuccessfully, some closely related sub-groups and Igboid groups such as Ika and Ndokwa people have taken to the discrimination of the Igbo not just because of the negative implication of the Civil war on the Igbo nation but because Igbo nation are found wanting in its ability to politically lead the entire Igbo race. No group obviously wants its future mismanaged. As the humble man he is the like of Achike Udenwa has taken blames for several of these bad situation besetting the Igbo race because according to him,the failings of one man as that of all because they) collectively are(were) entrusted with the people?s interest, but the politician from Orlu would not take any persons blames for downturn? The Igbo should not worsen their own problems like Governor Chime, a host who decided to absent himself in his own ceremony leaving guests to take charge with no words from him and Governor Elechi who the Igbo people also look to, to help usher in solutions to the problems confronting not only the region but the entire Igbo of Nigeria. The affairs of Igbo race should be taken seriously for the failed congress should have afforded the Igbo the opportunity to discuss their problems once again. And the Igbo Youth wing of MASSOB allowing the congress to hold and expressing their grievances, holding their leaders accountable for their failings by far?would have been a better option than scutling the congress and allowing the leaders to leave. The problems have only deepened and nothing less is expected. The Ohaneze and indeed the entire Igbo leaders would need to do a lot more put the race back on track because the Igbo are not born to be ruled but also rule because as the citizens of Nigeria we have equal rights as those of Hausa/Fulani and the Yoruba. Whatever other ethnic groups can do right politically in Nigeria, the Igbo can do better. For a society that has produced Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chinua Achebe, Augustine Esogbue, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala the next president of Nigeria needs to emerge from Igbo land whether from Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Delta or Rivers States. We need it. Ohaneze do something. |
agbotaen: UP COMING IGUE FESTIVAL IN OWA KINGDOM-( obi iselogbe ooo)Is this one of the Cultural festivals you guys borrowed from the Binis? |
agbotaen: 1. my igbo friend , please do not continue in this type of propaganda about civil which occurred in 1966, the ika universal delcaration was in 1930 , when the british counted ika area as benin or part of benin ,when benin chiefs told them ika was founded by benins and part of benin ,so our fathers said they where not part of any known ethnic group in nigeria and that ika was an ethnic group of its own , so it has nothing to do with the civil war. its clear that your fathers fought against binis when the binis wanted to expand their empire and impose their rule on you people.even the time of the british, you fathers fought but finally succumbed to defeat and at that point the british imposed the bini leadership on your people.AM I RIGHT OR WRONG ?...secondly if you were bini migrants, why would the binis try to impose their rule on you people?on the other hand, why would your great grand fathers flee bini empire if they were truly bini people??have you asked yourself,if truly there were migrations from bini, couldnt it have been igbos who after or continuous harsh treatment from the kings of bini decided to leave the area and retrace back home to settle?? |
agbotaen: 1. mr igbo what do you have to say to igbodo citizens telling their obi that an igbo woman from ebonyi cannot give them a heir and they asked him to marry an igbodo or ika or anioma or edo ? it is simple ,majority of ika people dont believe they are igbo/Are you well at all Mr Ika Edo? |
@agbotaen. pls i think it time you down your weapons, let us hear from other Ika people to believe. your one man squad is beginning to look like an opinionated paper. However there is no clan or town in the east or across the Niger that is call Igbo. nobody speaks Igbo rather we speak different dialects, it is a collection of it that is referred to as Igbo language, hence the term Igbo people. just like your dialect is slightly different from Igbo language so are others. if you look at yourself and decides not to be Igbo am sure everybody understands but try to understand that some Ikas' see themselves as Igbo. I have a friend who is from igbouzo who claims bini too, yet her sister told me they move from Isu in anambra(according to her that's what their grandfather said)so she is igbo. Nobody has denied my friend her bini citizenship. You can be whoever you want, you don't owe anybody an apology or explanation, but do stop insulting others who don't feel like you.
For a group of bini immigrant slaves claiming to have found a town and yet lose their language is simply a HOAX.This can only happen if there was already a group in great numbers of igbo settlers in that town. All those claiming bini migration dont speak bini but a dialect of igbo.In the case of agbor and some other few igbo towns in delta state sharing the same boundry with edo state dont also speak bini but a dialect of igbo with very few borrowed bini words.this case is similar to that of Arochukwu in abia state with close boundry with akwa ibom....All those stories of bini migration are being propagated by the anti igbo historians notably Emeka Esogbue,Dr Kunirum Osia and their bigot mentors (I doubt if he is a historian).when you read other historical accounts of historians from delta state like Don ohadike, onwatuegwu they will categorically tell you that these igbo towns in delta state are truly inhabited by igbo people.I do visit Ika websites and i have gone through their various forums there and finally you will also see that not all share the same opinion with Agbotaen. |
carefreewannabe: I am not a very romantic type so I don't expect it from a man neither. But why would a SANE man call his girlfriend 10times a day or even multiple sms a day??... Calling once or twice a day should serve. |
agbotaen: 1. my igbo friend , please do not continue in this type of propaganda about civil which occurred in 1966, the ika universal delcaration was in 1930 , when the british counted ika area as benin or part of benin ,when benin chiefs told them ika was founded by benins and part of benin ,so our fathers said they where not part of any known ethnic group in nigeria and that ika was an ethnic group of its own , so it has nothing to do with the civil war.. AGBOTAEN,I WILL NOT GO INTO AN ARGUMENT WITH YOU BUT I CAN AUTHORITATIVELY TELL YOU THAT THERE ARE LOTS OF IKA PEOPLE WHO DONT JUST SHARE THE SAME OPINION WITH YOU AS REGARDS IKA PEOPLE.HOWEVER,YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION BUT WHATEVER YOU SAY ABOUT IKA PEOPLE,YOU CANNOT SPEAK ON BEHALF OF IKA PEOPLE.THANK YOU |
Ournaija: The other day I was discussing with a young man from Ogwashi-Ukwu who was on an industry attache in my coy.He told me he is not Igbo and I asked him where he came from, he said Delta. I asked where in Delta before he confessed Ogwashi-Uku. I quickly added if you are from Ogwashi-Ukwu it means you are an Igbo man. That was when he opened up to me why he choose to be a Delta man instead of an Igbo.As a matter of fact,i am also from ogwashi ukwu.do you know what that name means??it means Ogwa Nshi(nri) ukwu meaning Great Place of Nri(nri is written as nshi)and this town was founded by adaigbo who is from Nri and ogwashi people would always refer to themselves as "umu adaigbo"|.I am a proud igbo man no matter the kind of discrimination i face as an igbo man and i still maintain that.If you dont like me because i am an igbo man, then that is solely your problem. It wouldnt make me to deny my roots...NEVER!.It amazes me when igbo people across the niger would deny igbo because they are not located in the south east. That young man should stop being inferior.Thats all i can tell him.you only feel inferior when you make people think you are inferior.EVERYBODY SHOULD KNOW THAT AMB.RALPH UWECHUE WHO IS THE PRESIDENT GENERAL OF OHANEZE NDI IGBO IS FROM OGWASHI UKWU. |
Andre Uweh: Seconded.@ANDRE THOSE THAT DENY THEIR IGBONESS ARE THE VOCAL MINORITY.MAJORITY OF WESTERN IGBOS(ANIOMA)KNOW TOO WELL THAT THEY ARE IGBO.LIKE I SAID THOSE THAT DENY IGBO ARE THE VOCAL MINORITY.SO WHEN YOU COME ACROSS ONE,JUST KNOW THAT HE OR SHE IS A VOCAL MINORITY.ESOGBUE AND HIS GROUP ARE THE VOCAL MINORITY.ESOGBUE IN ONE OF HIS MAILS TO ME SAID,YES HE HIS IGBO BUT HAS DECIDED TO CREATE A NEW IDENTITY FOR HIMSELF AND THE PEOPLE OF ANIOMA.I MADE HIM UNDERSTAND THAT HE IS NOT THE SPOKESPERSON OF WESTERN IGBOS(ANIOMA)EVEN THE MAN THAT FORMED THE NAME ANIOMA NEVER SAID HE WASNT IGBO BUT EMEKA AND HIS COLLEAGUES HAVE GONE ON RAMPAGE TO MAKE ANIOMA A NEW ETHNIC GROUP.ESOGBUE,LAURETTA ONOCHIE,GLORIA ELUEBO OPENED A FACEBOOK GROUP PAGE CALLED 'NDI ANIOMA'.WHEN I JOINED THIS FACEBOOK GROUP AND NOTICED THE TYPE OF BIGOTRY GOING ON THERE AND HOW THEY TRY TO BRAINWASH PEOPLE THAT IN THE GROUP,I DIDNT HIDE MY DISGUST TOWARDS THEM AND SO DID OTHER MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP BUT TO MY GREATEST SURPRISE,THEY REMOVED AND BLOCKED ME FROM THIS GROUP.NOT JUST ME BUT OTHER GROUP MEMBERS WHO EXPRESSED THEIR DISGUST.ANYBODY WHO IS FROM WESTERN IGBO LAND THAT DOES NOT REASON WITH THEM BECOMES AN ENEMY.IS THIS HOW ITS SUPPOSE TO BE?WILL THEYFORCE PEOPLE TO BECOME BIGOTS??LEAVE THESE PEOPLE,THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY LIKE BUT WE KNOW WHO WE ARE.....IGBO......LIKE I SAID,THOSE THAT DENY IGBO ARE THE VOCAL MINORITY |
I have followed Emeka Esogbues blog and write ups for quite some time now and its no surprise he would come up and say Anioma is not igbo with his mentor Dr Kunirum Osia.Kunirum Osia has initiated Esogbue into a Bigot. The truth is that Esogbue and Kunirum Osia can say whatever they like, they cannot drag all western igbos(Anioma)to believe they are not igbos. They are not the mouth piece of Aniomas and cannot be.I am from Aniocha and simply Igbo. All those who buy their idea are the ones who are allowed themselves to be brainwashed.I saw the Ikwerre of Rivers State try to reinvent themselves as an "ethnic nationality." And for 40 years, they failed miserably. Let us not make the same mistake the Ikwerre made just for political expedience. Now the Ikwerre are trying to come back to the bigger Igbo tent after so many years of chicanery and it is tough for them. |
*covers face*
is he not the only traditional ruler going by the title DEIN which he chose for himself against the wish of his council men?
