I've been a member of #land for quite some time but I'm most active in the phone section, today my elder sister called me and she said to me that she doesn't like the way I leave my house at akk time just to watch football matches played live on pay TV's and she would love to buy us a HITV, she said I should go and get the cost of the package, then I should call her after I've made the research, I came on to nairaland and read the HITV thread but to my surprise I saaw the comments of their subscribers lamenting about the poor service rendered to them which I was never aware of till the moment I finished reading the review/ thread, I thought of finding another alternative an I read this thread and I couldn't believe that it's possible to still watch cable TV without subscription after the demise of California cable,
Reading this thread, I thought that I could convince her that this is what I need but I don't know the estimated cost for the full equipments and services required, please I need you kind assistance, most especially the gurus in the house that knows everything about setting up this FTA from the beginning to the end,
I reside in Lagos, bariga area precisely(anyone closer?),
please help me with the need of the full equipment needed and the total cost of full installation to show all the available channels,
lastly, I'm a Red devil fan and I love them till eternity, meaning all the channels is what I want to get, PLEASE HELP ME,
Thanks Hitv is not as bad as people make them out to be. if your fancy is to enjoy premier league regularly, you might want to go for HITV, over here, most of us in here are enthusiasts, it goes beyond just watching TV or football, also, i am assuming you might not be the only one in your house, so try and consider others as well. having said that, if you want to enjoy FTA, you might want to consider getting a 1.8m dish that is movable(motorized). this will cost you between 25-20k for everything, compared to like 15k for HITV. if pepper dey,, you can as well go for the two, you will not regret it. but you need to have space for the BIG dish that you will be buying. the main advantage of FTA is that you do not have to pay and there are a lot more choices available to you, french, arabic, swahili and so on. try and do your research and then ask specific questions, there are guys in here that are more than capable of answering them. |

How far with ur nile now ? where u able to get the remote? I need that dowload cable too oga patapata. the nile dey, i get like 170 channels this morning and the MBC did not even break. around nine when i was stepping out that was when i noticed a few cracks. I asked for the remote in a couple of places and they did not have. I will keep trying for and if we no get here, then abroad. regarding the cable, i will have one for you whenever we see. how far with your laptop, any improvement? @ll there'a new twin decoder in the market( it comes in pairs) one in the sitting room and maybe the other in the bedroom, you can actually flick channels on the one in the room just like the one in the sitting room. i think it comes with it;s own card-sharing technology. the brand i saw in the market is called sat track. |

F_Marshal: It was nice talking to you too. Keep catching them Birds!!!! Oh, Remember to put up the pictures of what the dish looks like now. Better still, did you take pictures during the installation? Post them if you can. i had planned to take pictures during the installation but we were so busy that i forgot. i will endeavour to post pictures of the dish as it is right now tommorow. thx for the link you posted. the decode i was telling you about that i saw with badaru is humax 5400 (google it!). the unique thing about it is that it has a RJ45 connection at the back which makes it perfect for internet access and card sharing. @enitan and Oga Badaru I got my decode patched today turns out that that cable we were using was not good. i bought a new cable today and the upload was done immediately from my laptop. @gangstar101 check ur gmail |

@F_Marshall thanks for the call all the way from yonder, really appreciate it. i believe together on this thread we can do great things together. Gangsta101: What application, if it is a free browsing aid, i am interested.
Back to FTA business, congrats Olofofo, and welcome to the world of nilesat. it is funny how we over here in the north take it for granted while down south people are willing to pay a premium for it, well, i guess that is just one of those things about life. one thing though, after a dish is used to tune a satellite, the signal quality gradually improves over the period of a few days, this is not just one of those myths but something i know a few others have commented on. you might experience signal levels as low as 48% on maybe jsc sports immediately after setting up the dish, but after 24 hrs, probably after the sun has really beaten down on the dish for sometime, u return and find the signal level is now like 52% or even more, so expect much better reception soon. congrats once again, and please get back to me about any starcomms app. @enitan2002. how ya people. still have not been able to get the starcomms to work with the app u gave, but my brother it's a beautiful application, it's strange that i have not heard about it before. thanks. give me you email address make i mail the starcomm thing to you so that you fir test am for your side. that goes for you too pitodenz. @ pitodenz i think you are wrong though about alaba and 2.4m dish. what they use mostly over there is Fibre, i don not know of any single person inside ALABA that uses 2.4m dish right now for Nilesat, Badaru has this theory that the more people locked on to a bird the better the signal, am starting to think that might be really true. so be not afraid to try it over there in the east as well. |

Big thanks to Oga Patata BADARU and His able PA ENITAN they were at my place fro around 10am to almost 8pm.
most of you guys know the story of how my 2.4m dish has been laying fallow after my first installer battered it up from me. and based on the pictre that i posted,, some respectable members of tis forum noted that it might be a bit warped. anyway to cut long story short. Badaru came and as i am talking to you right now, i have about 165 nilesat channels in Lagos! with this renewed confidence that it can be done, i am gearing up to buya brand new 2.4m dish to replace the old one. it was no easy work fixing up the dish, My apreciation goes out to Oga badaru again and enitan.
to everyone in the house resident in lagos, if you have space and can afford to spare a few bucks, NILESAT is the way to go, don't let no dealer convince you that fibre is the only way to go.

what size of dish are u using, if na 90cm or less, then etv na the only channel when u fit receive for now, if ur dish dey up to 1.8m then add a c band lnb and you will get more channel. where are u located in the first place?
Olofofo,
if i were u, if Badaru comes over to install your nilesat for you, i would watch him like a jealous wife, everything he does and ask enough questions to make myself a nuisance, who knows u just might acquire the touch from him and become the regular nilesat installer in that area when he tires out, because i am certain everyone is soon going to be hounding him.
About the signal quality improving just because more people are installing dishes to receive it, i don't know about, the explanation i would suggest is that the installers just get better and it the more they install so that after a while, they can almost do it with their eyes closed, i mean they would know all the tricks to coax (and that is actually what it seems like) the best signal out of dish. but then again, that is just my opinion.
F_Marshal.

F_Marshal: The 1.8m could benefit from Car Wax solution. Remember, you have to apply the wax on the surface of the dish. Polish the car wax on the dish, and also apply same to the eye of the LNB. When it rains, the water will run off the dish's surface more quickly thereby improving signal during mild rain storms.
Short of buying a new dish, you can treat the dish with an anti rust paint that is not very glossy. Read more from this thread. Also, see below the attachement on correcting Warped Discs. thanks for the feedback and link, it was quite helpfull. @enitan2002 congrats on the new installation. abeg tell badaru make him no forget me ooooo. i go holla later today. i am really looking forward to watching nilesat soon. enitan abeg post your number for me. |

Its ok too that you offered some help in the end.
I agree with F-marshal concerning the loss of signal issue that might be coming from the dish. Its most likely to be the edges of the dish.
I remember quite well how badly a little 'touching' I did with my 90cm dish in my early days on FTA affected the signal. It took me days then to realize that a little unnoticeable bend on any part of the dish can result in a complete loss of signal. The 'thread test' might help as well if you can get the threads to be on the right points on the circumference of the dish correctly. Oga Big Joe. thanks ojare. i will try and get everything sorted out tomorrow with the 2.4. i will definitely keep you updated. thanks again, it's because of you that we are all enjoying this thread. |

Nash-FTA: @ Olofofo, You Wrote: "there's a channel called Ntv on Intelsat 902c, NTV Uganda/kenya (3814 V 3852) they have quite an interesting line up of prgrammes and unlike Etv they show both champion league matches on Tuesday and Wednesday (no delays), also they have some kind of alliance with DSTV, they show a lot of DSTV programs, i mean a lot. right now, my kid is watching cartoon networks and before that we saw the grey's anatomy, the amazing race. am still tryng to find a way to get their full program schedule. i will keep you updated". NTV channel on Intelsat 902 (C-Band) originates from Nairobi, Kenya and is owned by the "Nation Media Group" (Visit: http://www.nation.co.ke ). It can also be viewed on You-Tube at ( http://www.youtube.com/ntvkenya ). There is also another FTA channel from Nairobi on that same satellite (Intelsat 902), "Citizen TV", at 3837 V 2466. If you are able to track Atlantic Bird 3 at 5 West, you may also tune to another FTA Kenyan Channel, "KTN" at 3656 H 2893. Owned by the "Standard media group" ( http://www.standardmediagroup.net/corp/ ). You may visit the KTN website ( http://www.ktnkenya.tv ) for a daily schedule of their programmes. Incase you are interested, I may compile for you a weekly NTV programme schedule from their 'DAILY NATION" newspapers. Both NTV and KTN are also available on DSTV channel 138 & 139 respectively. As you correctly noted, NTV has some agreement with both DSTV and ETv to broadcast champion League matches, and also retransmits cartoon network daily (monday - friday) from 1300Hrs GMT; TCM Movies from 2100HRs GMT to 3.00Hrs GMT; and many others. nice JOB. yes i receive citizen and KTN as well but none is as interesting to watch as NTV. obnelly: olofofo, you are not likely to get nilesat with that your lnb holder position just check out the way you attach that scaler to the rod.I can see there is mistake some where which i believe it will make the lnb tilt towards a particular direction than other.Just take a look at the three rods attached to the scalar.Your lnbf position is not too good enough and i wonder if your lnb is fuji.also your wiring is poor,it should be neatly packed not as loose as that in your picture.Make sure you have a flat surface for your dish,i mean the floor.first track nss7 22 degree if that is ok,go to next satellite till you get to 7 degree.or better still if you get 22 degree just face your dish and move the base,i mean the stand towards right.where you have height adjustment for the dish measure like say a span, then try to move your dish height gradually from that location, you are likely get nilesat signal there.don't use scaler that come with that dish use scaler from your fuji lnb.if you can do all these i promise you will get some channels if not all.and one more thing on your rods ,one end has one hole and the other two holes, attach the rod with two hole unto the dish pan while the one with one hole should go into the scaler, fix the bolt from inside of the scaler while your rod is on the scaler and use nut to fasten it altogether, remember nut will be outside .do all settings with carefulness.bang the signal will come . bros everything wey u see about that first dish na temporary. it was meeant for Nilesat, when that did not materialize, i fixed at nss 7 ku for RDV, and since RDV don waka again, now am chasing Nilesat again and Insha Allah, i will be succesful. enitan2002: @ obnelly, olofofo can a 2.4m dish be made to stand on pole, i'm still curious about this, and if it is possible, is there any disadvantage with that, because the dish sellers keep telling it aint possible, i just don't know what else to do.
@ olofofo, u no fit even invite us wey be 'idol worshipper' for your doormot, ehn is that good? Is there a beach at Ibeshe? am i getting it all wrong, hope is not the same ibeshe in Ogun state? i will difinitelly keep you all posted by tomorrow.
Thanks, and good night, need to sign out of my PC now, sleep don dey catch me. Au revoir, mon amis (Till we meet again, my friens) Bon Nuit if you read my previous posts, i did mentioned that when i first bought that 2.4 dish, i had it motorized, i was hoping to catch nilesat and other satellites out there, to have it sit on a pole means that you have to have a welder construct a replica neck like that which comes with those 1.8 motorized. we did this and it was successful for a while, though without nilesat , but later we kept having problem of the dish shifting away from the alignment because the neck was not constructed properly, you have to understand that the dish is quite Big, so to answer your question, you can have 2.4 pole mounted because i have tried it and i believe it can work successfully if you work together with a good welder to get the neck right. too bad i dismantled my old neck, i would have attached a pix. regarding Sallah chops, I invited everyone, even idol worshipers but no one asked for directions. Ibeshe is a riverine village near satellite town, almost all the villages along that axis have beaches, it is the same Atlantic ocean that stretches from badagry to Lekki and it is the closest to where i live, besides I no get strength to drive to badagry plus this beach is less crowded. thebest367: Hello all, Please I applied for UK student visa but I was refused stating that my waec certificate is fake. that is the only reason given. i got the result from waec office and the result is the same as my result online but the problem now is that i went bck to my school to find out what was wrong but i was told that my certificate was there which was then released to me. it now means that the one collected from waec office is fake and the new one from my school is original and i have 2 weeks to resume. my finances are ok but i have been banned because i submitted a false document. what is the way out now all please? can i go in for a review and tell them the truth or i should just appeal or forget about this whole matter? my results are the same on the 2 certificates and online and i also have my gce result/ certificate. pleaease advice me my email is thebest3677@yahoo.com your question is like this picture below, IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH FTA. https://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3971/pict0355bs5.jpgon a serious note, nobody has banned you from travelling, no be your money them need? just get a lawyer to iron it out with them on your behalf, that is the best advice that i can give. |

@obnelly
The 2.4m i posted is ground mounted but no luck so far. i have arranged with badaru for wednesday morning. let's hope that second opinion will do the trick.
@F_Marshall
thx for your observation, but the water was from rain 2 days ago. it's there because of the NSS7 KU andgle it's at right now.I always drain it anytime it rains. i believe that if i finally get the nilesat to work, the water will find it's own way down.
regarding the dents on the dish, my brother, that dish don suffer. first it was motorized and then de-motoriaed and i had to bring it down tomake space for the 1.8m, infact i fell down working on that dish. i will try your test with badaru on wednesday.
what you see on the cable is remnant of the tape from strapping it to the prongs. the cable is in no way broken.
rust is actually a major issue with the second dish, the dealer nack me well well, because when I bought it, I did not know much. does the cash wax solution apply to my 1.8? or what do you suggest i use to reduce rust? i might have to get anoter dish is less than 6 month if the rust continues as it is.
overall, i appreciate your eye for details regarding the pix of my dishes. You are one eagle eye. |

onye-ngbu, I have learnt more lessons about human beings from what you wrote about me.In spite of your apology and the humour I brought into the altercation over grammar some weeks back, you still went ahead to write those crap. Why is it that you only send posts to this thread when you want to put petrol to a burning fire? That is very ungodly.I have consolation in the fact that God himself went through what I went through which made him to have his only regret. Please realise that on this thread we have all sorts of people in the society, yet we see ourselves as family.I have never for once believed in looking down on anybody on this forum or elsewhere yet some of us never see any reason to saying SORRY or THANK YOU at the appropriate time.I have forgiven you and Mercussey et al.I have no regret about the way God created me.I believe in touching more lives so I will always strive to speak when others are not.It drives away evildoers.Check this from Genesis 6: The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.
olofofo, though it seems you have some reservations about me,I so much respect your knowledge base. The only pain I have is the fact that some of you don't care to get closer. You would have discovered how much I cherish your brain.I call a lot of people on this thread at least 4 times daily except they prove to me they are not what I thought they were.I will surely call you soon as I already have your numbers.I tried your findings on 0.8W,and got the same result.I am happy to tell you that I blindscanned just like Captainus and discovered some feeds belonging to e tv,South Africa.etv news channel which is not broadcast to us in west africa is available there. They also pick their news feeds from Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth there,Supersports can also be picked there but it is not reliable.I think we need to keep monitoring.
Captainus, I am proud of U.I hope to visit you in Ghana next year.OSMI feeds can be scanned when there is free to air epl match or better still during UEFA champions league. Please use the first frequency. The other one belongs to VOA.
gangsta/obnelly, thanks for the compliments and concern.I think you need to adjust the lnb.I am having very excellent signals on my Nilesat except for the weak CNN transponder and not too strong Showtime sports transponder. My BBC World fluctuates between 65 and 72,MBC Persia is currently 66,MBC1-4 is 76.On Saturday,I was able to get the 0.2db SHOP+ lnbf from a MYTV/DSTV dealer in Abeokuta after searching all over Lagos. He got it in a Dstv pack, and sold it to me for N2000.I am too tired to install it now but I should by weekend.I will report my findings after the installation. Many thanks to Pitodenz who suggested it.
twinstaiye/enigma/seuncyber, Please take it easy with Seun.I had thought I was the only one who has a scathing tongue when people play on the intelligence of others.I think I told Seun last week to meet his neighbour who has been watching HITV for free, but he has added another dimension to it by flaunting the codes.Seun,if you know how to go about it,please mail it to members.I wont hesitate to come out of hibernation to join others in kicking you out if you decide to play God with the codes if you have them. This would help all the members as RDV is off except people who pick 2M maroc Nat on W6.They showed Everton v. Liverpool 12.45pm on Saturday. Enigma, please mail me.It is very important.Might see you in a couple of weeks.
gofitech/hawkeye/arsenal1/ojofree, long time no hear from Una wa for you oooo.I miss you all no be small.
Nilesaters, ART is still on but SHOWTIME is off.My GSAT lnbf is still up for grabs for free.
badaru1, Bravo!I am not surprised at all.Please don't forget your primary constituency-Nilesat.
all, if you have constant high-speed internet access, please try to hook up to justin.tv for live matches on your pc.It has all the European leagues and competitions. You can also watch several news, sports, documentary and cartoon stations including Sky Sports. But you need a reliable connection from your ISP,else it would be breaking.Just like what I have been advocating on this thread,I will never use you as 'guinea pigs'I HAVE TRIED IT AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY.I watched INTER v AC MILAN live on jsc+1 through justin.tv.After the match,I clicked on a Spanish la liga match which I also watched live.It is more reliable than waiting for Showtime keys and RDV.Please give your feedback.Regards to all.
AS NIGERIA CLOCKS 48,LET'S REMEMBER THAT THE ONLY VIRTUE MISSING IN OUR LIVES AS A NATION IS SELFLESSNESS.80% OF US ARE SELFISH,ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WAYS OF ENRICHING OURSELVES AT THE EXPENSE OF THE NATION.NIGERIA GO SURVIVE.LET'S PONDER OVER IT NOW! first of all i have to complement you for taking time to write. you should try writing a book about something, because you need to channel the way your words flow with you into something really worthwhile, me, I have been trying to write for years, NO HOPE!. I appreciate how you took time to address specifics in your post, but I would have to say that you were wrong regarding what you noted about me having reservations towards you and if you were referring to the posts that I made regarding egos on the thread, i did not direct it at a particular person, it was actually meant to calms nerves, but i guess it is good to let people know how you feel once in a while. anyway, truth be said, WE MISS YOU! NO beef at all, at all. me i can be reached at 08033401080, 018738991 or lsb2k@yahoo.com. it will be nice to know more about each other. tell me more about you gsat Lnbf, is it ku or cband, i will be willing to trade with c-band lnbf or strong c-KU combined, if it's worth as much. i use sopcast to watch live matches when hitv or any of the FTA are not playing balls, my sopcast what misbehaving yesterday so i watched inter-millan match on justin.tv as well. i use starcomms evdo. One Love!. |

there's a channel called Ntv on Intelsat 902c, NTV Uganda/kenya (3814v 3852) they have quite an interesting line up of prgrammes and unlike Etv they show both champion league matches on Tuesday and Wednesday (no delays), also they have some kind of alliance with DSTV, they show a lot of DSTV programs, i mean a lot. right now, my kid is watching cartoon networks and before that we saw the grey's anatomy, the amazing race. am still tryng to find a way to get their full program schedule. i will keep you updated.
@enitan2002

seuncyber: Well let me inform every body in this forum,
What i mean is that Hitv and Dstv should give back to the people ok
So don't get me wrong they have make alot of money from the people so they should give back to the people
Well for your information i can view Hitv with out paying,
And let me inform you guys that without paying you can veiw Dstv and Hitv free.
And is like must guru in this forum work for Hitv and Dstv,
Every Thing is Free in this world if you can take you time, people browse with mtn Free and Zain and glo,
The point am drawing out here is that to all Dstv and Hitv Worker in this Forum, give back to the people with 5free on air,or else between 1month i will drop the Code for people all over this forum to veiw Dstv and Hitv Free,
And i don't want any body to mail me and ask me of the code for now, is very painful,Dstv makes 60percent of his money from Nigeria,so what will it take if you give back to the people and Hitv, i can say with all confidence that you are a bullshit Artist and believe me nobody is going to beg you for any code that you do not have. Enjoy your free hitv while you are at it and stay away from this thread. |

different satellite and the same frequency and symbol rate. what i will like to know is why it gives good signal strength and quality but a search produces no picture. |

Enigma: Olofofo
Liveonsat tends to get the name of the sat on that frequency showing football wrong; today is the second time. Today's match was shown on RTL Croatia on that transponder; another time it was shown on A 1 not A2 as LJ reported.
I have just checked and A1 is indeed currently showing Arsenal v Hull. I would have thought you can only get C Band on 1w; can you get Ku band on it as well?
By the way, where are you located; Lagos? that's true for liveonsat, but i checked the link listed with the site and it says A1. so if i understand what you are saying correctly, the transponder is alive and FTA and you can receive it over there in the UK? also what do you mean by if you can get KU on 1w, the frequencies are all there. besides Intelsat 10-02 is listed as for both c and KU, and yes i am in lagos. |

Gangsta101: Hey friend, seems like u burnt a lot of money and got absolutely nothing for your troubles, but is your 2.4m dish still mounted and if i understand u well, it is now mounted on the ground, well, one thing i knw personally about ground-mounted dishes is that if the plane you are mounting it on is not really level, let's say it was inclined slightly, you might not get the desirable signals, i remember when i first mounted my dish myself after a storm blew it away, i could only get bbc, jsc sports and all those 10758 channels, for days i kept going back and tweaking with different aspects of the setup with no noticeable improvement until one day someone leaned against one side of the dish while i was tweaking and just like that the signals shot up and everything came back to how it was before the storm, i remember i had to put a screwdriver under it for a while, until i could find the time to level the ground and re-mount my dish. don't know if this will be of any help to you sha, but you can give it a go?
Enigma what i was wondering about was why would the signal strength not be uniform in the first place afterall they are broadcasting for the same provider e.g showtime, some showtime freqs will be high, others low, it is the same thing on all sats as far as i know, so why don't they just make all signals to have the same signal strenght. well, i'm sure it is one of those things that just 'is', so no need wondering about it too much i guess.
All. i had been sending a friend of mine keys for showtime/art but he kept complaining they were not opening anything, he uses a 4651x on which he recently added a card reader, i had patched the decoder for him a few months ago, and had even installed some keys previously which worked. well i told him to bring it over today and i tried but it kept saying 'scrambled channels', so i went online and downloaded a recent strong software with autoroll features for art and installed it, and still it couldn't open the scrambled channels. does anyone have a similar experience, please do share. i think the main issue is that i have not come across anyone on this forum resident in lagos with 2.4m dish that is receiving nilesat. |
