The 4th Brigade of the Nigeria Army has smashed an armed robbery gang of policemen allegedly led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Okubopagha. The ASP Okubopagha and Inspector Okoro were of the B Department Nigeria Police Force Bayelsa State Command. Commander of the 4 Brigade, PAT Akem who spoke through the Public Relation Officer, Captain Roseline Managbe, said the smashing of the gang followed the arrest of one Nanagha Aduoumemi who claimed to be an Inspector in the A Department of the Bayelsa State Command. Captain Managbe said Inspector Nanagha was arrested by troops of the 222 Battalion at Orhoror junction along Bomadi road in Delta State after blocking the road with woods while other members of the gang hid in the bush. She said the Inspector was arrested while attempting to run into the bush while other members of the gang escaped into the creeks. According to her, "The suspect revealed that members of his gang are all serving police personnel who indulge in robbery activities after their normal police duties". Inspector Nanagha said he joined the police in 1982 and that it was his first time of joining the gang for an operation. He said his family were in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State and that he only got N5000 from the operation. According to him, "I am 60 years old. I am a police officer. I was arrested in Bomadi becuase I joined with armed robbers. That is the first days I join them. They block the road and they started operation. I was not on uniform but others were on uniform. I only know the ASP serving with me in Bayelsa. We are six in number. I was introduced by the ASP. The ASP phoned me to come to Bomadi and when I got there, he said we should start the roadblock work. They were armed with police rifles. We robbed only two vehicles. We were about to leave and they left in a private vehicle. I don't know how much was made." The Army also paraded a dismissed soldier, Adebayo Opeyemi, who was arrested for armed robbery. Others suspects paraded included one 65 year old Pastor Christopher Okonkwo arrested for illegal oil bunkering. Captain Managbe said 1500 illegally refined diesel were destroyed in Warri and a Mercedez Benz truck loaded with 32 drums and 83 illegally refined diesel were intercepted. source: http://www.worldstagegroup.com/worldstagenew/index.php?active=news&newscid=9455&catid=2 |

Shakara123: A wounded lion on a revenge course. But seriously, if this man becomes president, so many people will go on exile, some big companiess will shut down and those few strong-headed guys that decide to stay back will go to jail; that's why they will rather die than see him enter aso rock.but can this guy be trusted? will he not throw the country into a religious war? is not on a revenge mission instead of serving the people? |
donchris9999: I watched that analysis on supersport after nigeria and spain's match. Oliseh never criticized keshi for taking local players, what, he was saying is that there is a difference between nations cup and a world stage competition like confederations cup. He even applauded keshi for his selection of local players but just that keshi would have infused the the team with top-notch foreign players that could match the technicalities of countries like spain, brazil who play in top leagues. Just imagine what an inexperienced Gambo missed. Keshi should just be calm and take all this criticism and start to work on them. They are for his own good and glory.so which top notch players were available for that tournament? was it osaze or who? oliseh forgot that keshi has a plan and he's still in building a team that he can control and handle. keshi won the afcon with injection of about 4 home based and one of them landed the cup in 9ja with his goal: does this say anything to oliseh? we cannot continue to ignore our league cos we want to win at all time, we should build our league to produce formidable force for the national team. we deceive ourselves a lot by saying things we do not mean to do |
now it is evident that we are the killers of our local league. how can they criticize keshi for exposing our local boys to international football. oliseh is a nutty guy, he should learn to think b4 talking |
is the note2 used or brand new? |
if 9ja did not make the top 10 and we are like this? boy, this world is in a deep mess |
A former Head of State, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Friday said he decided to retire with his current rank in 1985, to defend and promote the integrity of the military, instead of promoting himself. Buhari said this at a public presentation of two books: “Nigerian military in politics: 1966-2011 and Politics of transition to civil rule in Nigeria” in Zaria, Kaduna State. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the books were published by Head of Political Science Department, Federal College Education, Zaria, Nuhu Ramalan “It was the conviction of our regime that, being the Head of State and Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, does not mean that you are the overall General. “My ultimate goal as at then was to ensure integrity, justice, equity, accountability and transparency in the system. That was why I did away with unnecessarily promoting myself to General,” he said. Speaking on the military in politics, Buhari, the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 general elections, identified some weaknesses of the past military regimes to include corruption and abuse of office. On politics, he said the incessant military interventions were due to the failure of politicians to respect the rule of law, “characterised by massive corruption and lack of accountability.” The Chairman of the occasion and former Secretary-General of the defunct Peoples Redemption Party, Aliyu Umar, said the books would be resource materials in the study of Nigerian politics. “The two books are reflection of the present Nigerian political scenario,” he said. In a related development, Buhari has attributed ineffective leadership in the country to the inability of government to provide effective education for Nigerians. According to the NAN, Buhari said this in Zaria on Saturday at a conference with the theme “Uniting our People for Change” organised by a group, Movement for a Better Future. “The biggest problem of this ineffective leadership in Nigeria is education. If you deny people effective education, you have finished them. “Education is a vital tool for human existence and development. God has given Nigeria both material and human resources but we have not used them effectively. “We have failed to organise ourselves to harness these resources. We have been talking about Sardaunana (Ahmadu Bello), (Obafemi) Awolowo, (Nnamdi) Azikwe and Tafawa Balewa as great leaders; why can’t we emulate them?” Buhari asked. In his remark, Governor Ra’uf Aregbesola of Osun State appealed to Nigerians to elect credible candidates into various elective positions who would help to develop the country. The governor, who was the special guest of honour at conference, stressed the need for Nigerians to work together to actualise national cohesion, a bright and progressive future. source: http://www.punchng.com/news/why-i-retired-as-major-general-buhari/ |

I watched Soccer Africa last night on SuperSport where NFF chairman, Aminu Maigari was interviewed. In the interview, the FA gaffer said the Super eagles belonged to the country and Keshi could not be the only person responsible for the team's selection. Furthermore, he said he was skeptical about Keshis' inclusion of local players in the Super Eagles. On set yesterday, Udoh, idah and the Ivorien guy all condemned Maigaris' statement pointing out that if Keshi is not given the right to select his team then why was he employed. Also, they condemned the statement he made about our local players' inclusion in the national team as unacceptable as this meant the local league he chairs is irrelevant. I am so disappointed at the NFF guy, its apparent that the problem with our football is the NFF. |
Police barracks are generally dirty and unkempt with over population, i wonder why ![]() |
There was an accident involving a car and a commuter crossing the road early morning on monday at Chika junction. I could not get a shot cos of the crowd around the probably injured commuter. Furthermore, JB has commenced construction of a new pedestrian bridge between Chika and Aleyita junctions. These commuters must be very careful and stop crossing the roads but make use of the bridges. Also, the FCT government should designate bus-stops along the Airport road which must be strictly adhered to and utilized in order to avoid deaths on this ever busy road. God bless Nigeria |
