A 45-year-old father, Abubakar Magaji, a resident of Liman Kagum in Bauchi local government, has confessed his reasons for having carnal knowledge of his 11-year-old daughter. “I engaged in the ugly act because I had a misunderstanding with my wife and she left me. I am ashamed of my self because it was temptation that led me to do it. “I divorced her mother and married another wife but unfortunately my wife also left me a month ago so I needed a woman to be with; so that was why I did it. I also have a problem with my sexual libido. It is so terrible that I desire any woman I see, but what stops me from approaching them is that people respect me as a married man. So I felt the only way I could relieve my sexual tension was to sleep with my daughter, since she is so young and had no knowledge about sex. “It was after I defiled her and I was arrested by the police that I understood the gravity of my offence. I can’t imagine that I did this to my own daughter. I regret my actions and I pray that God will forgive me.” he said. At his residence, a neighbour who couldn’t believe the allegation against Abubakar said, “I was shocked when I discovered that Mallam Abubakar who I had a lot of respect for will stoop that low and sleep with an 11-year-old child that happens to be his daughter. “This is the highest level of abomination and Islam is against such an act. No matter the excuse, a man does not have the right to defile a girl outside the confines of marriage. This is unacceptable and he deserves to be punished by the law”. Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Lawal, Shehu expressed worry over the increasing rate of rape cases in the state and vowed that all rape suspects will be charged to court and prosecuted. He said, “Since January, we have arrested over 10 suspected rapists, only this week we recorded over five cases. It is worrisome that among the suspects arrested is a 45-year-old man who raped his 11-year-old daughter and two aged men who are between 45 to 54 years who raped teenage girls of between two years and four years. Contrary to reports that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru, would be going on leave, he has denied that such is not happening. Chief Press Secretary to Jega, Mr. Kayode Idowu, said his boss is not embarking on any terminal leave but busy preparing for the elections. He said the postponement of the election was enable the commission better prepare for the election. In another interview, the minority leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, said Jega could not be asked to go on a terminal leave because he was not a civil servant. He said, “I do not consider the Chairman of INEC as a civil servant subject to civil service rules the same way I, as a member of the House of Representatives, is not a civil servant. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has finally declared his supports to the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). Speaking at the at the launch of his controversial autobiography titled, ‘My Watch’, in Nairobi, Kenya, Obasanjo said Buhari, who ruled the country between December 1983 and August 1985 is better candidate who understands the system of Nigeria. Obasanjo said he is confident that Buhari would tackle corruption, insecurity and restore themilitary morale which is needed in the fight against terrorism. Reacting to the postponement of the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for security reasons and a better distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, Obasanjo said he hoped the Federal Government was being truthful. He urged Jonathan to put the interest of the nation ahead of his own ambition and warned that the manipulation of the electoral process could lead to a coup d’etat, adding that the May 29 handover date remained sacrosanct. He said, “The circumstances he (Buhari) will be working under if he wins the elections are different from the one he worked under before, where he was both the executive and the legislature – he knows that. He is smart enough. He is educated enough. He’s experienced enough. Why shouldn’t I support him? “It is a question of leadership – political and military. I think you need to ask Jonathan how he let the army go to this extent. SaharaReporters has received unimpeachable documents and audio recordings providing substantial evidence that major Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders planned and successfully rigged the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti State, and plotted a similar scenario in Osun in 2014. The audio recordings and affidavit were provided by Sagir Koli, a Captain in the 32nd Artillery Brigade stationed in Ekiti State, who has since fled the country for fear of retaliation. Capt. Koli recorded the conversation on 20th June 2014 when he was asked to accompany his Commanding Officer, Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh, to the meeting. The venue was held at Spotless Hotel in Ado-Ekiti. The audio recordings depict the meeting as being attended by the eventual “winner” of the election, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti; Senator Iyiola Omisore; a man identified as Honorable Abdulkareem; the Minister for Police Affairs Caleb Olubolade; and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro who was at the time the Minister of State for Defence. Mr. Chris Uba came to Ekiti with huge stash cash and soldiers from the East to carry out the assignment. The 37-minute recording details the conversation between these men as they bribed Brigadier General Momoh with a promotion for his assistance in carrying out election fraud in Ekiti. In it, Obanikoro is clearly heard informing the group of men, “[I] am not here for a tea party, am on special assignment by the President.” SaharaReporters further received credible intelligence that President Goodluck Jonathan had instructed the Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh, to use the army in arresting and intimidating opposition politicians before and during the election. Lattek arrived at the Club in the summer of 1981 after great success in his homeland as coach of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Borrusia Möchengladbach. In 1974 Lattek coach Bayern Munich to victory in the European and in 1979 he won the UEFA Cup with Borussia Möchengladbach. Two brothers named Abeeb and Idris and three others, met their untimely death as they were shot dead by some thugs while scrabbling for gifts shared by a Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Ajegunle area of Lagos. It was gathered that when the politician began to share gifts during his campaign, two factions of hoodlums felt sidelined and began shooting sporadically at each other in the midst of the crowd. Abeeb, the elder of brothers from same parent, was shot twice in the belly and died instantly, while Idris, his younger brother, was initially rushed to a private hospital in the area before he died. A police source confirmed the incidence saying “Two dead bodies from the rally were brought to the station by evening. Later, a well known politician showed up to arrange how they would be buried. This morning, we have gone to the Cemetery Market, Ajegunle, to pick up another corpse.” A shop owner, who gave her name as Ojedokun, said the thugs looted her goods and shot continually, during which stray bullets injured several passersby. She said, “Trouble started when the aspirant began to share out gifts to supporters. He gave out mobile phones, pressing irons, among other things. As people scrambled for those gifts, trouble began. “The thugs brought out guns and began to shoot to scare away people. They began to smash bottles on the ground and attack one another. Even the policemen, who accompanied the rally, fled for their lives. Stray bullets hit people. There is no one in their house as they have gone away. A former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has said he will henceforth maintain silence on the state of the nation until after the forthcoming general elections. He said this on Wednesday while addressing traditional rulers from Egbaland who were attending a seminar organised by a non-governmental organisation, The Village Network Empowerment Initiative. The seminar held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta. The former president, who had in recent times criticised President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, said it was unfortunate that some people could misconstrue his good intention for the country. Hence, he said he had chosen to keep mum until after the elections. Obasanjo, who also flayed the situation in which teachers in some states were being owed salaries for upward of six months, said Nigerians had an opportunity from February 14 to play their own part in enthroning leaders of their choice. He said, “Where we are now, I have spoken. I have used body language and whoever still does not understand all I have been saying, it would take such a person a long time to understand. “It is something that is very clear for us all to see. Some people came to visit me from Benue State three days ago and told me teachers in that state had not been paid for six months. “There are states where teachers have not been paid for four months, three months and two months. That is not good at all. It’s only God that can help us to overcome all these problems. “All I know is that God has done His own part and it’s now left for us as human beings to do our own bit. Do we, as Nigerians, say that God has not been magnanimous enough to us? “Is it human or natural resources that we do not have? We are blessed with a lot of fertile land. Shakespeare says the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves that we are underlings. “God has done his own part and it’s now left for us as human beings to play our own part. That our own part starts from the 14th and it’s now left to you and me. I won’t say more than that. I’ve said I won’t say anything anymore until after the elections. “You’ll hear from me after the elections. But I’ve said it verbally and through body language and how you understand it all is now left to you. But whatever you still don’t understand about all of these, I will put it in prayers that God should enable you to clearly understand it all better. “But I won’t say more than this until after the election.” Delivering a lecture to the traditional rulers on “Waste to Wealth, Health, Biogas productions as an alternative source of energy for sustainable rural development,” the Director of the Zoo Park of the Federal University of Agriculture, Prof. Moses Oyatogun, enumerated the uses of different waste for energy production. 21-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston, Bobby Kristina, was found drowning with her face down and unconscious in a bathtub by her husband, Nick Gordon, on Saturday. Her husband and friend was quick to administer CPR after they found her face down in the bathtub and paramedics were able to revive her. TMZ reports that Bobbi’s brain function was “significantly diminished” and doctors told the family it didn’t look good, although thankfully it got a little better Sunday. While she is currently stable, she is in a medically induced coma as she is suffering from swelling in her brain Her father, Bobby Brown, and Tyler Perry, are currently by her side praying for her quick recovery. The first large-scale trials of an experimental Ebola vaccine has begun in Liberia. This is part of a global effort to prevent a repeat of the epidemic that has claimed about 9,000 lives in West Africa. The trial will involve injecting each of them with a tiny amount of chimpanzee cold virus that carries safe genetic material of Ebola, tricking the human body into producing an immune response. This is according to a document from PREVAIL, the acronym for Partnership for Research on Ebola Vaccines in Liberia, as the U.S.-Liberia collaboration is called. An unidentified man was found dangling from a suicide rope in an uncompleted building on Lawal Unity Street, Meiran, Ile-Iwe bus stop, Lagos. The residents of the community woke up to find the man dead in an uncompleted building on Thursday morning. One of the residents, Adebayo Salami, said no one is yet to identify with the corpse of the strange man. He said, “I was called on Thursday morning and told that somebody had died in a building. My initial thought was that it was somebody living in the area, but when we got there, we discovered that it was an uncompleted building and the man was a stranger.” A community leader, Samuel Oroja, said a traditional rite has been performed on the corpse, to avoid a re0ccureence of such in the community. However the Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, said the police had identified the victim as Mosunmola Raphael, a 28-year-old man. In order to enable those who are yet to pick their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) do so, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the date of collection of the card to February 8. The commission said it is ready for the polls and urged all registered Nigerians to ensure that they collect their cards on or before February 8. The commission reaffirms its determination to make the 2015 elections free, fair, credible and peaceful; and urges all stakeholders, including voters, to spare no effort in working towards the same objective. According to the Chief Press Secretary to the national chairman of the commission, Kayode Idowu. the 68.8 million PVCS and that the last batch of 3.4 million cards had been sent to all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for distribution to all registered voters. Idowu said, “We have taken delivery of all the PVCs, which is 68.8 million and they have been sent to all the states for distribution to the voters. The last batch of 3.4 million PVCs have been sent to the field for distribution to the registered voters.” Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress and the Labour Party has hailed the commission for extending the PVC collection deadline. President Jonathan has admitted criticisms by the Rivers state Governor, Amaechi, that he has done nothing for the Bayelsa, Rivers state and the South South region of the country. Jonathan at the presidential rally of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Igwuruta-Ali, Ikwerre Local Government of Rivers State, said Amaechi was right in his statement but pledged to give his best to Bayelsa and Rivers state if elected in the coming elections. He said the fact that he has not allocated more development to his people, is an indication that he is transparent and meant well for the country. “What I want to tell you and the rest of the country is that the director-general of the APC presidential campaign organisation, when he was in Yenagoa and when he was in Port Harcourt, mentioned clearly that the President had done nothing for the two states. “Don’t worry. It is good news because people are saying that I concentrated development in the South-South. Bayelsa State was part of Rivers State. Then, if I don’t concentrate development in this state, that means there has not been development in Rivers and Bayelsa states. “The DG (Amaechi) is telling Nigerians that I have not done this. That means that I am a transparent person. I did not allocate positions to my people. The DG would have been the very first person to expose me to the rest of the world; not just Nigeria. He would have taken me to America, to South Africa, to France, to UK, but that shows clearly that we mean well for this country. “In our development, every part of Nigeria must be carried along. You will agree with me that when we looked at the university education, and we insisted that look, the Federal Government must make sure that all Nigerian youths must have opportunity for university education. “We did not divide North or South; we made sure that all the states that had no federal university got a federal university. I am not going to comment on development in Rivers State and Bayelsa states. 15-year-old girl, Oluebube Amadi, has refused to report her guardian who assaulted her severely, Mrs. Ebere Ugochukwu, to the police despite being advised by sympathizers on the street. A resident of the environment, Rukayat, saw Amadi, a primary 6 pupil who lives in Ejigbo, Lagos, writhing in pain with brutal marks on her body and advised her to report the case to the police but she refused and preferred to keep it secret. When the case finally got the knowledge of the police, Amadi said Ugochukwu flogged her and added pepper to the injuries on January 11 because she sent one of her daughters on errand. At the police station, Ugochukwu justified her actions by saying the girl masturbates and steals and the treatment given to her was right. “She touches her private parts with her fingers and she has started doing same to my daughters. I was really annoyed. When I asked her where she learnt it, she said she used to do it in the village. The beating I gave her was the highest since she has been living with me. I tied her hands and legs. Besides, she is used to stealing. She steals my money and items from school. “I brought her from Enugu in 2012 to look after my children because I used to lock them up whenever I was going out. My mother got her for me from her parents, who live beside our house.” Ugochukwu said. When asked to confirm what Ugochukwu said, Amadi said, “She usually flogs me. I steal and do bombom (masturbate), but I did not steal that day. She beat me for sending her daughter to bring me soap to wash plates.” When asked in the presence of Ugochukwu, if Ugochukwu sprinkled pepper on the injuries on her back, she said, “She will beat me if I tell you.” Ugochukwu’s husband Emeka, a vehicle inspection officer, said, “The items she stole from school are still with her. I told her to return them. I will take her back to her parents.” A neighbour to the woman, who craved anonymity, said beating has become “a hobby” for the girl. “That is how she beats her. Everybody has complained, including the landlady to no avail. We even told her to take her back to the village if she can’t cope with her. A number of Nigerian banks have taken necessary steps to deactivate ATM cards of customers from being active for usage in the United States of America, China and a few other countries. This action was unconnected to the increased amount the banks were refunding customers who had lost money in payment cards related frauds. It was gathered that some banks still use the magnetic stripe, instead of the chip and PIN for payment in the US and China. Another reason for this decision was because some fraudsters use cloned Nigerian ATM cards to make transactions in the USA and China. It is advised that customers who experience this, should speak with their banks when traveling abroad so that their so that their ATM cards would be activated to work overseas. The Federal Government of Nigeria has reduced the price of petrol to N87 per litre. It claimed the reduction is in accordance with the sudden drop in the prices of crude oil in the international market. The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, made this announcement while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. She ordered the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency and the Directorate of Petroleum Resources to ensure an immediate effect in the change across the nation. She said, “As you may be aware, there has been a lot of volatility in the price of petroleum products, particularly crude oil, over the last few months. Invariably, this has meant that the price of the product in Nigeria has also been greatly impacted. “It is as a result of this, under the approval and directive of Mr. President and in line with Section 6 Clause 1 of the Petroleum Act, that it is my responsibility as the minister of Petroleum to announce that there will be a reduction in the pump price of petrol (Premium Motor Spirit) by N10. “Therefore, the reduction will be from N97 per litre to N87 per litre effective as from midnight, Sunday January 18, 2015. “In line with this, I have directed the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency and the Directorate of Petroleum Resources to ensure that there is strict adherence to this new pricing regime as soon as it takes effect from midnight Sunday, January 18, 2015. “I do hope the entire country will benefit immensely from this reduction in the pump price of petrol.” Source - http://www.nigerianheadlines.com/fg-reduces-petrol-price-n87-per-litre/ |

My father really values education and he insists that we all go to school.
