inasmuch as a lot of people would condemn the student for beating up the lecturer, we choose to ignore the fact that some nigerian lecturers lack empathy, are unapproachable, rude and condescending. most of them vent on students, transferring the aggression from their personal problems on students. they dont have the ability and patience to listen, empathise and help students deal with personal issues which might be affecting their studies. from d story, why did the lecturer not spare a few minutes to listen to the young man and profer a solution to his predicament instead of outright dismissal?

Done some reading...

1.Seems the case has been on for over ten years. (Here is a report from 2017)

2.The basis of the case was that it was a dispute between the landowners and the college of aviation in Zaria. (Snapshot of google map area...showing how close the area is to NCAT)

3.At the end of the day, the area in question was too close to and may have been encroaching on NCAT land. Hence the demolition

4.My opinion...and I am ready to be told and accept that I am wrong. ....the land was government land. Someone came and started selling plots there, and people built on the property and got government documents. NCAT went to the courts to stop them...case dragged out. there may have been a ruling in NCAT's favour...land got demolished.

If there is anyone to blame really...it is the government officials who allowed development to take place on government land. But corruption and doing things wrongly in Nigeria is a way of life.

5/ And for those who are shouting religion...El Rufal has been on this matter for years. When it comes to demolishing things...El Rufai does not care about your religion or faith (As seen in Abuja...to the point that he was called Satan by some muslims even). As seen in the demolition of this other area in Zaria

6.All in all, I don't like the idea of demolition. Some form of amnesty has to be given...plus there has to be some accountability. People should stop selling land that isn';t theirs to sell , buying such land., and issuing documents for said land. I ultimately blame the LGA and the state., especially whoever was in charge when the development started.

Point of correction, elrufai did not order the demolition of those building . The land belong to aviation , the case have been in court even before elrufai came into power . They finally won the case .

The case is over. People were told to move out many years ago. Just because they are so called Christians living in the area doesn't give them an excuse to break the law

If El-Rufai demolish a place check very well, there is a cogent reason or the case has been in court for years.

Leave Nigerians and notice... everyone will be claiming that they were not given notice but they are the same people going to court for years or only the community heads have been actively involved in going to court. Every other person in the community just dey go on with their lives until demolition time.

Sometimes, I wonder why matters like this are reported by the press from religious angle when they occur in some other parts of Nigeria but when it happens in Lagos the same press reports them like normal news. No cares the religion of the governor or the victims whose houses are demolished.
