Download both the HP LaserJet Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver and HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver
and make sure to select your operating system windows xp

i dont really get your question, you installed the windows xp driver for hp1005 laserjet?
if yes, and if it was successful.
goto devices and printer on your menu
check if you can see the printer listed...if yes, right click on it and select printers property
click print test page from the dialog box.
if it prints. then your printer was installed successfully and is working perfectly...you just have to select it as default

Thanks adewasco for your response, anytime i switch d system on, it displays new hardware found. But d printer is not listed in d printers and faxes box, i also couldnt print the test page after installation.
I am not sure if d problem is becos i downloaded d software from net to my flash.

Hi guys, i installed an hp1005 laserjet (usb) on my PC (xp) but it says my printer is installed, yet i couldnt print. And anytime i on d system, it says that new hardware is found but could not work properly. pls help.

If it is windows XP when its restarting keep pressing F8
and go to last known configuration press enter

IF it is vista or windows 7 keep pressinf f8 and
select repair your computer follow on screen
