You don't go to a multicultural group and start behaving like it's your ancestral land. The sensless should leave and the sensible to stay. It's so straight forward, if you have any problem with that, go screw yasef

I honestly thought I was the only one that saw that part where she differentiated the senseless ones from the sensible or maybe I didn't understand that part until I saw your sensible highlight of that part.

Some doesn't mean all now! Just like one can say some Nigerians are this and others are that or some Nigerians are great. So I don't understand why people have chosen the senseless part to represent the whole of the Igbo tribe in her statement.

This is one thing I don't like about Nigerians, alots of things are happening in the country you are as a citizens but everyone kept silent, those who wish to talk will be criticized by their follow citizens, then tell me how the country will move foward. The behaviour of Nigerians made it 100% posible for their leaders to be taking them for granted. The politicians have known that whatever they do no one will talk or question them. Nigeria can never never be good because the citizens don't know their right. A country that have no basic amenities with citizens that don't know how living life is all about. A country in which you build your house, provid your own water, your own electricity, your own internet, your own road and your own cars with no insurance and at the end you pay your tax to the so called government. What is the essence of paying the tax since you provided all you need by yourself and alots of you will be jumping up and down in different media to defend the same government. I weep for this kind of citizenship.

It's really becoming tiring to me too and I'm beginning to weep for this nation.

It's really a bitter truth and quote that without us the citizens thinking right and taking serious actions as soon as possible, this nation cannot become the good we've been secretly hoping for. The good we're thinking that has not made all Nigeria's citizens run overseas is just a mirage with the way we are THINKING and attacking one another for nothing.

PDP can't do anything without us the general citizens. Theirs is to raise the alarm and keep talking. Ours as citizens is to take drastic action.

Or perhaps some are defending the government still maybe because they are benefiting from its doings. I can categorically tell them that their generations to come will deeply weep in years to come because of the things governments are doing today.

*What has PDP donated to Nigeria because of Covid*
*What will PDP do after the ultimatum*

Like are we serious at all?

5-years is gone out of 8-years with almost worse than we were before they came in promising heaven on heart and we still have time criticising PDP. What concern me about PDP or APC. Let anybody talk what makes sense to me, I'll spring into thinking and if possible, action. Why not push all of them aside and let's find a way to move. Without us thinking rightly and acting, no political party can do Nigeria and Nigerians any good( yes, APC has proved that to us unless you don't want to believe, and to your peril if you choose to do so)

... and what if he failed to meet up with the ultimatum like we all know?

It shouldn't be only PDP that should be making noise about the whereabout of the missing Chinese doctors. Something isn't right obviously and we should be asking questions.

Honestly, when looking at some comments on this topic now, then i began to weep from inside of me about this nation and how some people that should be wise enough to think properly unfortunately have allowed something else to becloud their reasoning.

PDP talks, they are bad. They didn't talk, then they don't know how to do opposition. Whether PDP is bad or not, we've seen what we thought was good today.

PDP has asked the right question that all Nigerians should run to the street for to ascertain the truth but here we are, still criticising PDP. Haven't we been beaten enough by these unreasonable dimensional segregations? PDP or APC, to me they are all same.
But unfortunately whether we like it or not, to me, we still need PDP[at least for opposition sake] in this nation. Or if you think we don't, tell me the other political party in Nigeria of today that has the boldness and resources to confront the present ruling party.

#WHEREARETHECHINESEDOCTORS?

I can remember very well that one time ago, APC was an opposition party and Nigerians rallied all around them which made them the ruling party today.

Opposition party's responsibility is majorly to open the eyes of the general public on issues of concern. Without the support of the populace, they can do nothing. And the politicians too know this very well.

I pray we wake up before it's too late. I can see it's getting late already.

Buhari's New Chief Of Staff Is Gambari Is More Subtle And Even More Dangerous Than Late Abba Kyari

By Ambassador Dapo Fafowora

What I have written in this long piece is just some of my personal experience and encounter with him. Everything I have written here is in my memoirs 'Lest I Forget 'which he has seen and read.

I know him quite well. I was the one who in 1981 brought him to the UN at his request as a member of the Nigerian delegation. He was then a senior lecturer at the ABU. In fact, the late Prof Audu, who was then Foreign Minister actually advised me against inviting him to the UN. But he had strong academic credentials which impressed me.

He had obtained his first degree in political science from the LSE, and a doctorate from Colombia University in New York. We were looking for strong delegates to the UN General Assembly and I considered him the kind of delegate we were looking for. So I invited him as one of our delegates to the UN General Assembly. He was at the UN in New York with me. I gave him and his wife my city apartment which I was not using free for 3 months plus a car. I liked him and I was not seeking any favours from him.

After 3 months he returned home and sent me a note thanking me for giving him the first opportunity to visit the UN as a delegate and giving him his first experience at multilateral diplomacy.

However, he sent President Shagari a secret and private note that while he was at the UN he observed that I had not been attending the meeting of Islamic states at the UN.

President Shagari sent the note to Prof Audu who forwarded it to me in New York. He didn't even ask me for any comments on Gambari's secret memo as Prof Audu fully understood that Nigeria had traditionally not been attending meetings if the Islamic states as we were not then a member of the Group. Gambari asked for a private meeting with President Shagari which Prof Audu advised against. I was shocked that someone I had helped so much turned round to betray me so blatantly. I did not tell him I knew about the secret letter he had sent to the UN. When Shagari was overthrown by Buhari Gambari became Foreign Minister.

When career ambassadors were being suddenly retired I was at first not on the list. But Gambari, now FM and Rafindadi, the head of the NSO who had worked under me in London, and was now head of the NSO worked together to secure my retirement. In fact, when I called him from New York to confirm from him news about my retirement he first denied it.

Thereafter, he no longer took my calls. In fact, I remained at my post in New York for another 3 months during which the MFA tried to reverse the decision to retire me. I had done absolutely nothing wrong in my entire career in the diplomatic service and only got into trouble for helping a young academic who turned against me to fulfil his own personal ambition. Since then, he and I have only met twice in very difficult circumstances. First at a dinner by a mutual friend in New York several years after my retirement.

He could barely look directly at me. He was clearly embarrassed. Then when Buhari won the elections in 2015 I headed a team that was set up to prepare a paper for him on our Foreign Policy. Subsequently, Alhaji Joda asked him to join the team. Last year, he suddenly called me to ask if I would kindly represent him at a public lecture he had agreed to chair.

I told him I could not and that he should look for someone younger. He immediately hung up on me. Now, he may be the kind of person Buhari is looking for to succeed Abba Kyari as COS.

They are very much alike but Gambari is more subtle and even more dangerous and will substitute the national interests for his own personal interests. I have no doubt about that.

What I have written in this long piece is just some of my personal experience and encounter with him. Everything I have written here is in my memoirs 'Lest I Forget 'which he has seen and read.

It is nothing new. But I think it important that the character of our top govt officials should be revealed and not covered up. We have, as a nation, paid dearly for supporting appointments to high office that are often detrimental to our nation.

Enough is enough and this has to stop.

You are damn funny, Did you just say use facemasks? Don't you go out on the streets to see how non compliant Lagosians are? A lot of people do not value their lives thereby putting the lives of those who value their lives at risk!

The only language Nigerians understand is "Force" we gotta learn the hard way , we have sworn to be defiant and non compliant then we have to be locked up once again so as to protect those who are vulnerable from getting infected !

You also talk about the economy! Awww what a kind way to show how much you love the economy, ECONOMY MY FOOT! T
The economy u love so much is being manhandled by the ruling elits who plunder and loot from the proceeds of the economy, while the poor man on the street is left to die!

My parting words to you seun DO NOT WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT THE ECONOMY BECAUSE WHEN THE ECONOMY GOES DOWN , GOVERNMENT KNOWS HOW TO REVIVE THE ECONOMY, WORRY ABOUT YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF THOSE YOU LOVE BECAUSE WHEN THEY ARE LOST, GOVERNMENT HAS GOT NO CLUE ON HOW TO REVIVE THEM.

A HEALTHY LIFE IS A HEALTHY ECONOMY!

It's not about people not valuing their lives. It's about enforcement. There will always be deviance.

It appears like our government takes pleasure in just talking in the name of giving orders and that's all. They expect 20m or 200m+ people to all behave the same way by wearing face mask just like that?

Even advanced countries that give palliatives have almost automated security officers to enforce laws and order. If not for enforcement of law and order, would we really need any money sucking government in the first place?

Police officers that are employees of the government, yet the same government can't control them. Then what does the government know how to do?

Even in reviving economy, all they know how to do is queue for oil money and to turn to the citizens with series of direct and indirect levies.

To me o . it is not necessary to go to isolation center to heal covid19 patient . they can pray for them through their live tv and this people will start testing negative. Shebi they use to claim people received healing listening to them on tv ni..... And i read about healing in bible whereby the prophet did not even come near the diseased and they were heal. We still believe in that power of God . so let them try that method

And I'm sure if they do and it worked/works, we'll still be the same set of people claiming that Nigerians are immune to Covid19, it can't catch us because it doesn't get to blacks and bla bla....

Nothing can please human being. One of the things I've learnt of recent is, just know your direction and what you want then go for it, not minding what anyone would say when the results come.

If apostle Suleiman says all he needs is permission to visit the isolation centres to contribute his quota to the healing efforts of infected patients, then see to it, that's all. After all, the health workers are human too.

The only thing I'll not support or advice is for any pastor to be allowed into the centres without wearing any preventive gadgets worn by health workers there. Let them be dressed like the health workers then they do whatever they think they can do with that. That's all.

Read 2King5:8 for the healing process of Naaman with God using Elisha and you'll understand why certain healings take varying dimensions. This scripture didn't tell us Naaman was the only lepper in that land too that time. I'm sure there would be others. And why didn't Elisha pray in his room or special mountain for Naaman? Etc.

Who knows if that's how apostle Sulaimon's God had spoken to him to go about it?
I'm not saying pastor's going there is the end of Covid-19 in Nigeria, neither am I saying it's not.

As a matter of fact, I won't see it as a tempting moment for them. If they're able to achieve great sudden results, all glory to God and if nothing significantly positive happens, it doesn't mean I'll say there's no God. After all, something controls the breaking and dawning of days that no amount of corruption in Nigeria had been able to conquer and also, I've not been physically seeing the 'dead walking' in broad day light in my country where I've spent few years since I was born which means something has been controlling even the dead to remain in a place. So,there's still God no matter what.

If pastors want to go to isolation centres, then let the few ones that have felt the leading go and let's rest our physical brains on debating spiritual matters.

I'm sure some people are already blaming pastors for not coming up.

Parents and visitors shouldnt be allowed inside the class room if they come to pick there kids for safty reason..They will understand and if they must enter they should wear nose mask and gloves or use sanitizers in the gate.
Children have no bizness with this virus so no need to involve them.It hardly kill them.. with the right law they wont contract and spread it.

Abeg the best option is to leave schools locked down for now until an effective cure comes up.

Any little mistake on anyone's part might bring about an uncontrollable spread within a very short period of time.
I believe no scientist or nation can boldly say he/she knows all the ways that Covid19 explores to spread and how long it survives on surface/object/cutton.

And remember, there's no way anyone can control how children and even many teenagers will comply with preventive measures when they mingle with their peers. So once any of their group is infected, the spread might become something else.

Well, nobody should put the blame of the failure of this country on me. Maybe on someone else. But not me. I will confidently put 95% of the blame on the government and the remaining 5% on the voters who blindly vote in times of elections.
If I may ask, who's to maintain law and order? Is it me? Or is maintenance of law and order all about pursuing thieves and Boko Haram up and down?

Leave human being in any country to do what they like, everyone can never go the same way of obeying the law without being guided or forced no matter how little. Even God as mighty as He is, realises that the heart of man is desperately evil(not differentiating white man from black man). As a matter of fact, government exists to regulate all human's affairs and our own government really seems not to care about that.

Talking about tax payment, I've been working since at least 2015 and would always hear that tax was removed from my salary on a monthly basis, yet, no tax card or number till date! You mean I should go and query the HR of all the companies to ensure they remit the tax?

Our government is yet to do enough almost at every level to get things working properly and so how do you blame a common man for that?
When almost all the processes of tax payment are done with almost paper and pencil and almost on a monthly basis(especially for businesses) not to even mention the unavailability of infrastructure that ought to bridge the gap for the tax payment. The same government wants tax and electricity that companies can hardly do without is being left aside by same government.

I am even very sure that if we were paying tax like people in foreign countries, the case might be that Companies would be taking loans to finance their operations since infrastructures are not visible. Common portable water is not in many places.

Later they'll say we don't pay enough tax like people in other countries and that's why there's never been enough fund to fix the myriad of infrastructural deficits all over the nation! What about all loans? Why not take new loans(even if the old ones have been swallowed by snakes or rats abi rodents...whatever) to fix many of them and take tax and other revenue generating sources to repay gradually?

What about the recent popular burial attended by many of those that have locked us down at home for almost a month and nothing has been done to them? Is it still Nigerians' evil nature?
Or is it me that said cash palliative should be taken to North when lockdown was/is in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja? Or what could I have done to avert that? I even remember Osun State governor saying about three weeks ago or so at one of the COVID-19 briefings(while answering a question from a journalist who asked about how the cash relief would get to his parents in his village) saying that people in villages shouldn't expect palliative since they could still go to their farms simply because lockdown isn't affecting them.

Small time again they'll say oh, federal government had given Lagos State government #10billion! How has that reached individual Lagosians pocket to cater for lockdown effects...or was that fund given to the state government to share to its inhabitants?

When someone is not doing good, it's good to say it as it is. Our government is doing poorly and that's it. Enough of all this you pay tax, you don't pay tax gimmicks.

Especially in this Covid19 era, they're not trying at all on palliative matter.

TUANKU:

Ok, is 3 SIM cards a bad policy? These are things that are done in advanced countries too. You don't just wake up and change sim card like it kpyoko.

All these advanced countries we refer to in everything and at every time is begining to tire me.

Is Nigeria advanced yet?

The Sim that when I want to retrieve, they won't even look at everything about me that has been linked to the Sim but still ask for the last calls I made with my great grand fathers and other plenty things. And if I can't provide them, then I loose the Sim/line. I've lost a precious Sim to that before.

The same way we'll say advanced countries taxes are the highest and that of Nigeria is the lowest and today, I pay tax up to every single time I make call even after I buy common water(not just one type) by myself and trek miles. Don't forget this doesn't exclude the jobless.

So when we want to compare what advanced countries do and don't, let not look at one side of the coin. If the same government that will restrict me to three Sim will do the policy in such a way that if a Sim is lost, merely seeing my face physically requesting for swap/retrieval will grant it to me without any other unnecessary documents(Including the ones even the government itself don't allow it citizens to get easily), then the policy might be fine.

Moreso, why must I queue on government things every year? The queue of last year on voters card collection is still in my body. Can't they find a better way to link my whatever they want without requesting for my physical presence. Also, in as much as anyone links every single Sim s/he has with government's approved database, I don't think anyone should be restricted to three Sim.

Just a personal opinion anyway and apologies I'm expressing it through your comment @tianku.
Properties / Re: Should The Tenant Who Is Served A Quit Notice Still Pay The Landlord? by Olusheyi1(m): 8:35am On Nov 19, 2019
ipeg34yahooco:
The question always arises in many quarters, should a tenant pay rent even after being served a quit notice? Surprisingly, a lot of people have this wrong notion that a quit notice automatically means no more payment to the Landlord. The position of the law in Nigeria however requires a tenant to pay for even a day not covered by a subsisting rent. This is what is known in law as MESNE PROFIT. Mesne profit simply means the profit which a landlord can recover from a tenant whose tenancy has ended but who still resides in the property till the date he gives up possession.

There are two main scenarios to consider in order to determine if a tenant who is served a quit notice is expected to pay mesne profit or not.
The first scenario is when the quit notice is served while the rent paid by the tenant is still subsisting. So, let’s say Mr. Kekere is a yearly tenant who has paid his rent to cover January to December 2017 and the law states that a yearly tenant must be given 6 months quit notice. Mr. Wada, who is the landlord, in compliance with the law serves Mr. Kekere a quit notice from 1st of July to 31st December 2017. If Mr. Kekere vacates the property by 31st of December, he is not required to pay any money since his rent was still subsisting when he was served the quit notice.

The second scenario is when the quit notice is served after the expiration of the tenant’s rent. So let’s say this time around, Mr. Kekere was served a quit notice from 31st of December 2017 to 30th of June 2018,even though his rent expires that same December 2017.The period between January to June 2018 which is not covered by the 2017 rent and any other extended period as a result of a court proceeding to eject Mr. Kekere must be paid for by Mr. Kekere. It simply means, Mr. Wada can recover mesne profit from Mr. Kekere for any period he is still in possession after the expiration of the quit notice until he moves out.

The law will not allow a tenant stay in another person’s property for even a day without paying for it .The tenant is still obligated to pay even during period of court proceedings and during the period the court grants judgment ordering the tenant to vacate the property.

In reality however, it is very difficult for a landlord to recover mesne profit because in most cases the tenant would have vacated the premises to a location unknown to the landlord before the court delivers judgment or the landlord is more concerned with recovering his property from the tenant than recovering any mesne profit.

So, should a tenant pay a landlord for a period not covered by a subsisting rent even after being served a quit notice? The answer is a big YES!

This is definitely an interesting topic that Nigerians need constant education on.

I haven't built a house though, but have heard lots about how troublesome and exploitative some tenants can be. I'm not saying Landlords too aren't troublesome. But like the common saying, it takes two to tangle.

I've seen of recent that many tenants are not in any way cool at all. And what many have forgotten is the fact that they will/may surely become a landlord/lady one day. So will they want anyone to live in their house for even three months and not be paid for it?

Even without law saying much clearly in that regard, one can definitely reason and arrive at a good conclusion.

Or maybe I should ask:
Can any tenant afford to be given a 6-months quit notice expiring by 31st of June 2020 when the rent paid covers till 31st of December 2020 without expecting any refund from the landlord/lady and still feel comfortable with it?

It's almost same thing at the corporate job level when offer will state that one month notice should be given on resignation and laying-off or equivalent payment in lieu of same. Although some employers/employees might have not been honoring that, but that doesn't legalize the act.

Everyone should treat others the way s/he wants to be treated. I strongly believe if we do this even at leadership level, our nation at large will be better.
