Politics"The Osinbajo That I Know" - Ebun-olu Adegboruwa by oluspicy(op): 9:43pm On Mar 06, 2017
As shared by Facebook user; Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa Esq

Yesterday, I urged all Nigerians to be wary of any populist tendency from the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, given our experiences with our leaders, in the recent past. I must however proceed now to tell everyone of the little that I know about Prof Osinbajo.

Very amiable person, unusually humble, intelligent and God-fearing, a people's man. I'd observed him more closely, after his appointment as the Attorney-General of Lagos State, given the bold policy reforms that he was pioneering, within the Lagos Judiciary, focusing more on transparency and good governance. I also knew him as head of a transparency initiative, committed to abolishing all forms of corruption and abuses. During his tenure as Attorney-General of Lagos State, he facilitated electronic recording in the courts, spearheaded the radical amendment of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, which has since been copied in most states and indeed by the federal government. He created new judicial divisions for the courts and revolutionized the welfare packages of judges and magistrates. I can go on and on, but that is not all about the Osinbajo that I know.
He is a thorough bred intellectual, with profound knowledge of the Nigerian Law of Evidence, running a very successful legal practice, in Lagos. In no time, he was promoted a professor of law and was also elevated to the Inner Bar, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. But this is just so little about the Osinbajo that I know.

The one that I know is Pastor Prof, a thorough bred Christian of the old breed, committed to the work of social engineering and human transformation, through faith based projects. At the time, he was an Area Pastor of Jesus House, Ikoyi, which had become more like a haven for the transformation of the down trodden of the land. His wife, the ever youthful Mummy Dolapo, was always busy running an orphanage in the building next to the church, where teenage girls who have been abandoned and abused, were daily being impacted, transformed and rehabilitated.

The Pastor Prof that I know took the job of the Servant of the Lord, opted to be just the protocol officer of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and was always on ground as one of the comperes at major programmes in RCCG camp. He was so transparent and clean that at the time of his glorious exit from the service of Lagos State, the Governor had to convene a special executive council meeting, to deliberate on the kind of gift suitable for a man without any record of blemish. It was then decided that a plot of land be bought for him in a private development in the Lekki area.

The Pastor Prof that I know, is a consummate prayer warrior, always fasting and on his knees, most times. All the times that I met him in his modest apartment in the camp, he was always upstairs, praying, and I had to keep going and coming, for hours, to meet with him, on most occasions.

The Pastor Prof that I know, is such a gentlemen to the core, so very natural and simple, with no taste for allurement and the mundane. Very sincere and open minded. In his very modern chambers in Victoria Island, I had cause to work with him on some cases, and he is tolerant, even to a fault. On a particular day when he was to have his lunch, he called me inside his office, to join him. And I looked at the food, boiled potatoes and smoked fish! I was just thinking aloud in my mind, wondering if Prof knew that I could just empty the whole bunch in my system all at once! It was then I got to know that Prof thrives on fasting and prayers. Just that.

And eventually Prof was appointed a provincial pastor of RCCG, in high brow Banana Island, but Prof just remained Prof, nothing moving him, nothing changing him.
He is fulfilled in virtuously all areas of his endeavor. The dream of every academician is to become a professor, the highest position in any ministry is the Commissioner, the highest rank in the RCCG is that of a pastor and the highest office in Nigeria is that of the President, for which he is now acting. And of course the best an individual can be is to have a real relationship with Christ. This is the Prof that I know. And indeed I know so very much of his many good parts that cannot possibly be shared. As with all mortals, everyone has his own challenges, as some have pointed at the alleged financial drainage of Lagos State, Alpha Beta, as the brainchild of Prof.

However, I now have to work with the Vice-President and the Acting President, who presently directs the affairs of our dear country Nigeria. In this regard, I would be glad that the Prof that I used to know, should be his own man, work the talk and carry Nigerians along. He should put action into his many promises of true federalism, restructuring, resource control, economic revival and then bridge the sickening gap between the affluent and the poor masses of our people, very urgently.

In this new assignment of mine, I will hold the Acting President in the same esteem as with the Pastor Prof that I used to know, believing that his history and record willfluence and implement true change for our people, and not just political slogans, as is common with soap box politicians.

And so if the Pastor Prof that I used to know is still himself, it shall be well with Nigeria.

So let work begin, as we start holding the Acting President accountable, to the people and to God, as I truly don't know and I have not worked with Prof the politician.

Thank you.

Nairaland GeneralAppreciation In Humanity by oluspicy(op): 8:59pm On Feb 28, 2017
‘Appreciation’, as being defined by the Merriam – Webster Dictionary was defined “as a token clear perception, or recognition, especially of aesthetic quality. It can be also an act of recognizing or understanding that something is of value.

The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated in one way or the other, in fact in different areas. It is also the sweetest shortcut to finding a lasting peace of mind and happiness within. No matter what may be going on outside of us but there’s always something we could be appreciated for.

Sometimes ago, I was once told a story about a young politician’s campaign speech. He was very eager to deliver an impressive speech for an upcoming election in the state. But when he arrived at the auditorium booked for the campaign, he found that there was only one man sitting there. He waited patiently for more people, hoping they would show up, but none did.

Finally, he said to the man in the audience, “Look, I’m just a young politician starting out. Do you think I ought to deliver this speech or dismiss the meeting?” The man thought for a while and answered: “Sir, I am just cow hand. All I know is about pasture and if only one cow showed up, I’ll feed it.”

Dear readers, every time you meet a person, anywhere, try within the first thirty seconds of a conversation to say something expressing your appreciation. By doing this, it sets the tone of rest of your time together. Even you must also learn a new way or method of thinking before you can appreciate a new way of living, therefore a person who feel appreciated will always do more than expected.

Learn how to treat others as we want them to treat you. Treat them as if they are important; you’ll noticed that they will respond according to the way you perceive them.

Most of us in life, have wonderful thoughts about people, but these people never knew it. Too many of us tend to be tight-fisted with our praise and accolades. It’s of no value if all you do think; then it becomes a valuable experience when being imparted.

I believe we will have one or two things to learn in the above and my prayer is that God will put in us the spirit to appreciate one another wholeheartedly.

I appreciated your time for reading through this piece and I expect to improve in this in no distance future.

Jobs/VacanciesBeware Of Fake Facebook Job Vacancies by oluspicy(op): 2:46pm On Feb 23, 2017
Dear Nairalanders and Job seekers, I know that it's not that easy to come across a good job in this time of recession. But some fraudsters are using such to inflict more pain and frustration on graduates and job seekers.

It is obvious that some of these fraudsters are now using the popular Facebook to advertise their fake and non-existing job.

Just some weeks ago, I came across one of this fake job opportunities and quickly debunked it after doing some background check on it.

But not quite long, a friend of mine who has been in search for job came across one of it and applied. According to her, she applied and an interview invite was sent to her. She and a friend went for the interview and what they experienced was a different one.

As she recounted their experience, over hundred people have already registered their details in the register book when they got there. Some of them came all the from the Eastern part and neighbouring states. She became suspicious about the activities going on in that place. Then she began to take pictures. Later on, an argument started and they were asked to delete the pictures or forfeit the phone used. They were not allowed to go in and later turned back because they've been tagged as bad market for the scammed job interview.

But she was able to keep a picture as an evidence.

Kindly let us ensure to expose these scammers in our neighbourhood.

God will surely answer our calls soonest.

"Mathematics competition - 2000 viewers mostly from institutions competing and their families.
Big Brother Nigeria - Over 6,000,000 viewers, worldwide. Internet is agog, SMSes are bombarded via telecoms, discussion forums are unlimited ..."

This is an act of modern day refined pornography and moral laxity in our society. And someone said that the show is changing lives. I wonder the kind of lives it changed, even Katung that won $100,000 that time lavished the winning on booze and women.

I shaked my head in pity as I watched that program last two weeks and sensed how much we're losing our morality to such. And those housemates in confinement are either supposed Christians or Moslems, with the entire crew and sponsors.

Quote me anywhere and tell me any moral values Big Brother has offered since inception. All you heard is "It's a GAME!" Hmmm, Game indeed...

Dear God, please may sanity and your fear be restored in our households and mindset.

Sleep Paralysis

Have you ever had a nightmare (usually horrible) and tried to react to it, but you couldn't, you tried to scream, wake up, run or struggle but you couldn't and you felt like an intruder or a supernatural force is holding you down, keeping you from waking up, or scream for help? The condition is called sleep paralysis,

Sleep paralysis is a phenomenon in which an individual, either during falling asleep or awakening, briefly experiences an inability to move, speak, or react. It happens during REM(rapid eye movement) sleep,

REM is a stage of sleep when the brain is very active and dreams often occur. The body is unable to move, apart from the eyes and muscles used in breathing, possibly to stop you acting out your dreams and hurting yourself.

Sleep paralysis is usually accompanied by fear, hallucinations, fast or difficulty in breathing, sometimes sufferers feel like supernatural forces or human (which thier consciousness believes is capable of hurting them) is trying to kill or suffocate them in thier sleep and when they try to call for help and couldn't, they'll come to the conclusion that its the village witch at work,

Most people who experienced sleep paralysis often feel the presence of an intruder in thier room, outside by the window, a shadowy shapeless figure holding them down to thier bed or someone looking down at them, the paralysis is partial though, and thats why they can move some parts of their body when it occurs,

In some cases they might be visions, out of body experiences and ghostly presence, they're unverified claims that the mythical creature incubus a male demon which lies upon women in order to engage in sexual activities with them, its female counterpart seccubus does the same to men in thier sleep.

Symptoms of sleep paralysis

*you'll be aware of your surroundings but you'll be unable to move, because you're temporarily paralyzed

*irregular and rapid breathing, and perspiration, which you cant control

*you feel the presence of someone(the intruder who you believe is there to harm you) in your room, fear, and panic.

*you wont be able to move, some people can open thier eyes though.

Causes of sleep paralysis

1. Genetics: when theres a history of sleep paralysis in your family

2. Not getting much sleep (insomnia)

3. Little or no night rest to relax the brain, the brain is responsible for your dreams.

4. Jetlag or irregular sleep pattern

5. Sleeping at inappropriate time, which might be induced by drugs, weed, narcolepsy, night job.

Treatment of sleep paralysis

1. Always sleep at the same time every day day, if you're the type that goes to bed by 9pm every day keep it that way

2. Sleep in a sleep inducing environment, quiet, dark, comfortable temperature

3. Don't consume substances that might keep you up at night, like caffeine, kolanut, alcohol

4. Dont eat big meals before going to bed

5. Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night

Original author:mhisbliss
This is quite educating.

I was once a victim of this and usually occurs when I was working somewhere on the mainland. I will wake up as early as 4a.m in order to beat traffic from the island and coming back home is another story cos I getting home late by 10 or 11p.m.

By the time I closed my eye to get some sleep, d next thing was that someone came into my room(either spirit or a witch in my neighbourhood) pinning me really hard on the bed. To open my mouth would be difficult. By the time I regained consciousness, "Blood of Jesus!" or "Jesus!" would be my scream, and I will quickly grab my Bible to pray.

Honestly, I thought its the unknown or perceived witchs/ wizards were at work in my sleep.

Its quite obvious that religion has clouded our sense of logical reasoning as Africans So that if someone heard a cat's voice at night will shout "I bind you by the blood of Jesus!..." Or the sighting of cockroaches, rats, spiders, wall geckos etc, will quickly begin to form prayer points, or even call pastors. Whereas they forgot to uunderstands that cats are very active at night, and when they are hungry or playing with one another, they seldom make such noises.

Besides, dirty environments or rooms breeds rats, cockroaches, spiders, wall geckos and so on. And their presence is inevitable.

I pray that our mentality change on this.

More ink to your pen MhisBliss for this information. I celebrate your worth.
