hahn: Do you mean the last census where lots of people weren't even numbered?
Nigeria, unfortunately, doesn't have a reliable statistic organisation. I personally believe CNN are relying on guesswork but considering the fact that there is a large population of citizens in the north(not to mention the high birth rate), with very few christians, as opposed to the south west for instance who have a large number of muslims, it's fair enough to say they might be right.
I'm not muslim by the way I would rather believe figures from a census. Nothing less. |

alfred5: You blame the past government for squandering our resources, but you can afford to travel just to meet the US President with a crowd of 266 people. For goodness sake, what precisely will all of them be doing in that trip? What is the cost of this particular trip, the estacode, the travel expenses, hotel bills, feeding allowances and all what not? If i may ask, who is even heading the technical team of that travelling crowd which does not include a Foreign Affairs Minister? Meetings between Presidents are merely formal. The technical treaties and technical issues which are normally associated with such trips are sorted out by the respective foreign ministers. Even the worst world dictators never did it alone. Hitler couldn't do without Ribbentrope neither could Stalin do without Molotov in foreign matters. Can US function for a moment without the Secretary of State? See painment!! Op, just take two tabs of Jegaquine twice daily for four years if you want to really increase your life expectancy. You show elevated symptoms of Orubebitis. Pele.

Whenever you try to be "reasonable" and attempt to engage them in constructive arguments and debates, that's when they bare they ugly fangs. Sometimes you just gotta serve them a few dose of their own medicine. Buhari has yet to even spend a hundred days, let alone a year, yet they've called him all manner of names, insulting him with for no just reason. What more can one do?? |

Buhari systematically cleansing the system of the accumulated rot of 16 years. It is gonna be a hard battle but I believe the president will succeed in the end. Here's a man, a President, taking proactive steps to curb wanton stealing of our common patrimony instead of lifting his hands up resignation, blaming refineries abroad for oil theft like someone did in an interview with Amanpour. May God bless and strengthen you Mr President (GCFR). |
Politics › Re: Petrol Subsidy Hits N1.69bn Daily by omenka(m): 10:36am On Jul 20, 2015 |
tete7000: I must say its quite sad and pathetic to imagine you didn't read before commenting. Anyway let me help you out. The crude is sold for about $57 per barrel and the subsidy figure stood at the current price. Now what you don't know is that the subsidy cost will increase as the crude price increases. At some point in the last got life, crude hits like over a $100 per barrel and that means during those periods they are paying almost double what is currently being paid if we assume there is direct variation between the crude price and subsidy payment(even though this might not been so but whatever there is sure to be subsidy increase as crude price increase.) In the life of this govt too, should crude price rise in the international market there is bound to be rise in subsidy payment and you stipulated estimate of over $500bn fade into insignificance with time. If the crude price increase far beyond what it is now, the govt might end up overtime pay close to/more than the $1tr past govt paid. This reason is basically why it is difficult to accurately budget for subsidy as crude price is a fluctuating figure that is difficult to be accurately predicted. Hope you have been enlightened. It is not everything people in the past govt said that are necessarily false. Sometimes ago you had believe as told that subsidy was fraud but you can see now that there was no fraud in it but pure propaganda the opposition party uses in winning election.
Hope you will have patience in reading through. You need to be able to read to really be thoroughly learned. The title says hits, and that simply means an "increase". If you people find it difficult understanding simple english, that is none of my business. |
