..."All of us at BP deeply regret the tragic loss of life caused by the Deepwater Horizon accident as well as the impact of the spill on the Gulf coast region," Bob Dudley, chief executive of BP ( ), said in a statement. "From the outset, we stepped up by responding to the spill, paying legitimate claims and funding restoration efforts in the Gulf." "We apologize for our role in the accident, and as today's resolution with the U.S. government further reflects, we have accepted responsibility for our actions," Dudley added. The fine comes on top of $20 billion that the company has agreed to pay into a trust fund to meet damage claims from the millions of gallons of oil spilled into the Gulf. It said it expects to pay a final $860 million into that fund this quarter. #cnn ^^In a country with a responsible government this is what you get! And this comes after they had been charged, firstly, $4.5billion to pay for legal fees incured by the US federal government in the litigation and other minor compensations! Now, check this out.. ....IT was a moment of truth yesterday as the Presidential Committee on Environmental, Survey and Clean-up of Ogoniland submitted its report after two years of investigations and indicted both the Federal Government and the Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, with a declaration that N150 billion was required to clean up the contaminated area. ....The committee, headed by Most Rev. Matthew Kukah, which collaborated with UNEP, led by Director Environmental Policy Implementation, Mr Ibrahim Thiaw, admitted that all samples taken from the air, water and soil in over 200 locations in the area showed that Oganiland has Hydrocarbon materials hanging in the air and floating layers of oil that makes it unsafe for human habitation The report stated that while individual lands in Ogoni may be cleaned up within five years, it will certainly take up to 30 years to clean up the rest of the area. ....The President said though sourcing the whopping sum was a huge burden on both the government and Shell company (#you can see our president himself already making excuses for the oil company!) .....He promised that “the Nigerian government is going to discuss with Shell ( DISCUSS!! Only in Nigeria) and other companies operating in the areas and other relevant government agencies to see how we can handle this report. But let me assure you that we are not going to put this report in our drawers but we are going to act on it and you will surely know about” #Vanguard ^^The committe submitted its report in AUGUST 15, 2011. The president, as seen, promissed ''we are not going to put this report in our drawers but we are going to act on it'' but guess where where that report is today... I bet he must have had the oil company executives rolling on the floor laughing when he made that statement. Apparently, the Ogoni incident is far worse than that of the Gulf of Mexico, with thesame company involved. But in this part of the world, our government, rather than sueing the OCs and having them even pay the legal fees incured in the process in addition to mind buggling financial compensations, would ''discuss'' with them, collect bribes, sweep evrything under the rug, set up committees, and have their reports lucked up in the safest coldest drawers in Aso Villa and respective state govt houses and then have the OCs hand out BISCUITS, a couple of BAGS of RICE and a few TINS of MILK!!!! !!!! Nigeria, I weep for thee! |

The oaf knows just how to exploit the sentiments of Nigerians! Trust me, with that singular act, regardless of what he does in the days ahead, Adeboye and all his congregation would vote and actively campaigne for the retardeen should he decide to run in 2015. Same tricks he used in the run up to 2011 elections and had most nigerians fooled, they seem, as indicated in some comments here, to be gettin punked yet again. |

Pls allow me to digress folks but I havnt the slightest empathy for ANY of our current politicians because they, one way or the other, are responsible for the decrepit state of the nation today. At evry single chance they take to the skies with choppers and jets, leaving the common man to stare after them with awe at the wonders of technology, keeping themselves perpetually oblivious of the state of our roads. You don't go to relieve urself in the bush and not expect to attract buzzin green flies. I say, to each his own. No one can ever escape that which is naturally due them. My only regret when they die accidentally is that they don't get the chance to divulge details of those foreign bank accounts, or those underground bunkers where they had stashed our stollen wealth. Chances are those countries would never ever get to repatriate those monies out of sheer altruism but would rather use it to enhance their economies. Afterall, given the current state of the global economy, every country needs evry single dime she can lay her hands on. And as for the ones stashed underground, they just might end up in the belly of termites! Think its about time we started treasure hunting in Naija. . |
We always insist Jonathan is the most insulted and detested president in the world. Hell, even google says so. But when I came across an article whose responses I'm posting, I began having a rethink. Here was a president who undoubtedly was distraught and emmotional, yet some americans lashed out at him, sayin it was all for show! Regardless, I think all these incidents are being orchestrated by the promoters of the New World Order ( as typified by the comments of some notable personalities such as Mayor Bloomberg) notableto further their sinister agenda of having absolute dominion over the US population by repealing some segments of the Second Ammendment, most especialy, the right to bear arms. With a police state and an unarmed population, clearly, the Federal Govt can hardly be stood up to. And absolute control over The Free World would have unimaginable consequences over the rest of the world! Reply Anonymous Reply: December 14th, 2012 at 7:17 pm Yes, Obama wipes away fake tears and he wipes away children…murdered at his command, by his war toys, drones. Obama certainly fits the description of a war criminal mass murderer. The children that are murdered by drone are warlord Obamas “unfortunate” collateral damage. Easy to be a psychotic soldier, puppet of master Obama, sitting at the controls of video-like game, operasting the drone machine, and committing sterile mass murder. When done, wipe yer tears and go have another beer. Real brave soldier. Reply Anonymous Reply: December 14th, 2012 at 7:49 pm Sorry you seem to have selective Right wing hysteria memory loss but if you check you’ll find the slaughter in Fallujah was four years before President Obama was in charge. More convincing to look down and read the script than use the teleprompter if you want to pretend your sad or upset. It’s pretty ironic he’s upset about a school shooting when he is so addicted to killing by drone. I guess what he said to Sarah Brady about working under the radar is true since killing kids will reverberate much more than shooting a couple adults in a mall. Reply frank says: December 14, 2012 at 5:08 pm this will surely be a final nail in the coffin of gun control. another manchurian candidate comes to mind. i got a better solution. !. make it mandantory for teachers to open carry a hand gun which can only be fired by that teacher. 2. bring back corporal punishment in the schools and at home. we have been on this experiment of allowing kids to get away with no respect without kicking their arses now for 40 years. (these killings are a direct result.) for millions of years that is what parents did. some of them got to rough on their kids so the law passed laws to protect those children from disipline. at least they weren’t killing this many and it was their own blood so who cares. it isn’t working . hello….. Reply rob l says: December 14, 2012 at 5:13 pm Nah, real tears…of joy since the only two scenarios I think could further his gun grabbing agenda more than this will would be if a pre-school got shot up and as many or more toddlers got killed or if a santa picture session at a mall got shot up on Christmas eve with most of those dying being kids. This is pretty bad for the gun control shim sham and could be the tipping point for the politicians and non gun owning sheeple to get behind it. If this shooting was legit then damn this idiot for doing that to innocent children. If it was set up by the gun grabbers or govt then damn them for being that evil to try and get the masses to support their wishes. Such a screwed up world we live in. Pathetic really. From the Bible I quote ” Woe to the habitats of earth for satan has been cast down among you. For he knows he has but little time. Satan is among us now working his evil deeds. In recent years I have notice a decline in our society in America and the rest of the world. Today right before I turned on the news on the TV to CNN news channel I said to my wife “I wonder what shooting rampage has happen today”. The first news story we heard was this awful tragedy at the school in Connecticut. These shooting have become almost a every day and week happening. As a parent and a grandfather this has it has shaken be down to my soul as the tears began to flow. Reply Anonymous says: December 14, 2012 at 5:55 pm time for war Reply Anonymous says: December 14, 2012 at 5:56 pm Yet another terrible tragedy, another terrible school shooting, this time of little kids. I find it strange that all these mass murders ALWAYS happen at schools, government buildings, movie theatres etc. Those are all places where law abiding citizens are not allowed to be armed, in conceal carry states. Someone wants to go kill a lot of people, they automatically pick schools, government buildings etc. cause they know it is illegal to conceal carry for law abiding people, so they won’t defend themselves. Considering the ridiculous number of freakn school shootings, why can’t teachers be allowed to be armed and conceal carry at schools, wtf, this could have been prevented so easily. I think I feel safer walking down the street in a bad neighborhood now then going to a school or a government building, this is freakn ridiculious. Why make it illegal to carry firearms for law abiding citizens to schools and government buildings as this only stops the law abiding citizens from carrying it, since CRIMINALS DO NOT CARE THAT IT IS ILLEGAL. DUHHH. My friends, do not sit and be on the defense on the gun control issue because of this shooting. This shooting is a fault of those irrational laws that don’t allow teachers in elementary and other schools to be armed, considering the history of school shooting in the US. Be on the offense and use this shooting to point out that it is those laws that prevent teachers from defending children that are respoinsible for this tragedy, THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE DEATHS. Raise your voice speak out, let everyone know. Reply Anonymous Reply: December 14th, 2012 at 7:07 pm …you put too much faith in the mentally ill that murder with readily available guns. I doubt they are being as rational as you describe. they shoot up schools, coffee shops, restaurants, malls, churches/temples, street corners (daily, actually), government buildings, etc. because that’s where people live and operate. Reply Anonymous says: December 14, 2012 at 6:00 pm It’s interesting to me how blind people are to their own hypocrisy and myopia. Obama’s foreign policies have killed COUNTLESS children; I don’t think it occurs to him how much suffering he’s caused because of the atrocious policies he’s implemented, or at least green lighted. I agree with another anon – the teachers should be allowed to carry (after thorough psych evals, naturally). It’s tragic what’s happened to these children, the teachers/staff, and their families. Whatever legislation is passed as a result of this (as it most assuredly will be), the policy makers would do well to respect Americans’ constitutional rights, otherwise, I see the black market for guns becoming that much more popular… Insane sub-human fools will always be able to get a gun legally or not. as this story illustrates. What we need are more sane and responsible gun owners, especially in places with a vulnerable population. Reply Anonymous says: December 14, 2012 at 6:04 pm Amen! I am horrified by the tragedy in Connecticut. There is absolutely no words for the grief of the families that have lost loved ones. But, that does not equate to gun control. Fewer people died last year by guns than died from drunk drivers. Do we ban cars? Alcohol? It is horrifying that there are sick people in this world. Remember planes being flown into buildings? Cars being driven into restaurants? Sick people find a way to cause mass casualties. The lack of guns does not make people safe. Let those who want gun control move to a country with gun control. This country was formed by REVOLUTION! Had our fore fathers had gun control, we would still be under sovereign rule. With gun control, people will no longer ever have the means to practice their right to abolish the government IF the government fails the people. Reply Anonymous Reply: December 14th, 2012 at 7:13 pm we regulate automobiles and driving, yes. we also regulate alcohol. a lack of guns would not make us safe. it would make us safer. and for those of us that live in big cities where people are shot on a daily basis with cheap handguns, it would make us safer to live and go to work. do you really think you can overthrow the federal government (much less state governments) with your hunting rifles and hand guns? what planet do you live on? Oh, right Prison Planet. And the “fore fathers” used slow cumbersome muskets, not the hyper murder weapons available in 2012. Reply Anonymous Reply: December 14th, 2012 at 7:53 pm You suffer from rectal-cranial inversion. It’s not possible to have a law that would disarm criminals once and for all. Cumbersome muskets vs cannons and standing armies, gov’t always has larger weaponry…you tell ME why gov’t wants a disarmed citizenry? Altruism? Greater good? The size and scope of weaponry makes ZERO difference. People are shot on a daily basis with cheap handguns…so you want to confiscate those guns? Pretty sure then people will be stabbed on a daily basis with cheap knives…then clubbed on a daily basis with cheap tree limbs…dude, get a clue… Reply Anonymous says: December 14, 2012 at 6:09 pm It looked like his eyes were strained or irritated, not tearing. I’ll give him credit, it was better bush’s speech to the nation on 9/11. Osama and his gang of handlers are trying to figure out how they can turn this tragedy into an opportunity to attack the 2nd amendment. Why not he already armed the cartels in Mexico to the point that our border agents may as well be throwing rocks, even then he would imprison ANY AMERICAN agent or civillian that even carried a rock within 100 miles of the border. He would justify this punishment by claiming when WHITE AMERICANS carry rocks near illegals planning jumping the border, they feel so threatend that they were forced to walk an extra 100ft to avoid the rocks. Hell the way he caters to illegals Im surprised he hasnt forced the agents to provide illegals with room & board, transportation and jobs. Buckle up America, its going to be a bumpy ride. Hes probably ordering his TSA thugs to follow travelers home where they can confiscate any weapon in your home or anything that could be used as a weapon. Then have his health care techs administer forced sterilization of any non minority while his green police seize your home, to be given to illegals, while you are fined to pay for renovations. Then he’d force all non minority into re-education camps, where they are water boarded til they admit to being a terrorist. At that point he would have all non minorities executed in public by the “new americans”, illegals. Any protest to the destuction of the constitution and genocide of whites will be met by similar treatment. Reply oz Reply: December 14th, 2012 at 9:58 pm You’ve got hispanic illegals(“wetbacks”) trying to get into your nation and we have illegal boat people who receive almost unlimited benefits once they get here. What an idle president! Nigeria is indeed done for! |
Sincere 9gerian: As for the issue of OBJ and GEJ disagreement, I completely disagree with Asari. OBJ is not God. OBJ lost his polling boot in the last elections, that alone is enough to make him want to deal with GEJ for failing to save him from electoral humiliation. Prior to 1999, OBJ was nobody. He was brought out from prison and made president. He later had disagreements with all those who made him president and became his own man. The enormous power he wielded up till day he left Aso Rock, came upon him naturally as the president then. However, GEJ is now in charge and being his own man, wants to do things differently. His approach to elections and many other things are clearly different from that of OBJ. I dont see anything wrong with GEJ being his own man and doing things differently. Moreover, OBJ has lost 90% of the influence he wielded before. He can only play minimal role in PDP primaries. As for the general elections, OBJ is COMPLETELY inconsequentialJonathan named Alams as his benefactor and on the other hand picked a fight with Obj. Between keepin faith with Obj and Alams, which is more politically rewarding. I think I would go with Asari on this one. Jonathan indeed took a fowl shot. |
Of the mother of a high ranking officer of the Federal republic of Nigeria.. Her mother would not be treated the same way theu would handle most victims.. The armys involvement is not illegal..
And where does the constitution prescribe different treatment for matters relating to the kith and kin of such government officials? The legality or otherwise is not even the problem here. The act just runs afowl of logic and reason. How does a govt expect to stir up even the slightest sence of patriotism amongst citizens with such blatent show of preference? I watch CI channel and other crime investigation documentaries on tv and I see how the death of even the lowliest street urchin is investigated and unraveled. Countries threaten diplomatic sanctions over the ill treatment of even one of their citizens by a foreign government. Isreal exchanged over a thousand palestinian prisoners just for Gillard Shalit!! These are the little things a government does to make citizens want to die for their country! He carries on about the minister of finance and the petroleum minister as though they are the alfa and omega of naija. With this, what's gonna happen if his mother gets kidnaped? Is he gonna scramble F15s or deploy cruise guided missiles? He should stop promoting the deep sence of worthlesness felt by the average nigerian on the street which already apears to be at its climax. He should try as much as posible to limit the contact of the army with civilian pupulation cos they are trained to kill and not to investigate crimes. The respect the general public for our khaki boys is at an all time low because of acts like this. They now mount roadblocks collecting 20 or 50 nairas just like the police! This isn't just right. It is not. |

PointB: Spot on!Please I beg to be enlightened. What is your definition of 'Free and Fair'? Allowing all parties to rig elections as they please? How on earth can you call an election in which a party sweeps all LG and councillorship positions free and fair?? Elections held in benue and not a SINGLE slot was won by ACN! Elections held in lagos and PDP almost went home without a single victory! The only difference I see between Jonathan's INEC and Obj's INEC is that Jonathan seems to allow other parties besides pdp to rig elections! Electoral fraud exists even in the greatest of democracies, but naija's is just out of this cosmos! I see no freedom and fairness in our system. The pple's opinions still account for an insignificantly small fraction of the outcome of elections. |
Believe that at your own risk. |
Ofido: PDP all the way.... Cross River State, Rivers, Enugu, Gombe, Plautue name them all wonderful pdp states. For the acn, apart from lagos and edo wat else?Very crude analysis! Now, put that into ratio and compare the ratio of pdp governors performing well to that of acn. That's the way to analyse bro. |
Are we realy in a democratic dispensation? Why the hell are the khaki boys always quickly brought into matters that are purely civilian in nature? The wait is over for Pope Benedict XVI's many Twitter followers, and they have been quick to respond to the much anticipated first tweet from his personal account Wednesday morning. Using the handle @Pontifex -- meaning "bridge builder" in Latin -- he posted: "Dear friends, I am pleased to get in touch with you through Twitter. Thank you for your generous response. I bless all of you from my heart." A flood of tweets expressing joy, admiration, antagonism and skepticism followed from the Twitterverse, not to mention a fair few jokes. "Wow! Is this true?! Pope Benedict XVI has started tweeting! Welcome Your Holliness! I'm grateful for your blessing! Follow him!" tweeted @Joyful_Minoz. "Our Pope Benedict XVI has a twitter account! Coolest Pope in history!" wrote @alexaSaclao. "@pontifex welcome on twitter. Glad you are now reachable to openly discuss gay marriage, birth control and gender equality!" said @wimremes. Some are more skeptical about the pontiff's personal involvement.
