Foreign Affairs › Re: Eyptian President. Issues Decree Giving Him Absolute Power by omenka(m): 3:33pm On Nov 23, 2012
The problem in the world today is that countries are in a hurry to adopt Uncle Sam's brand of democracy forgetin the fact that the dynamics at play in the US are in stark contrast to what obtains in these developing economies. US had its era of tormoil, wars, religious randomness and internal upheavals before ariving at where it is today. The journey took over two hundred years of sustained learnin with a generous mix of failures and triumphs. African countries seek to achieve this feat in a few years.
I personally don't see US style democracy working in especially an Islamic country because its ideals run afoul of some salient ductrines in the Quran. The most prosperous Islamic country isn't a democratic country!
We (Africa and the rest of the developing world) need to develop our own independent sociopolitical philosophy out of which would emerge an enlightened followership, a responsible leadership, and a unique but impertial justice system.
We had our unique costoms and traditions, and they had their pros and cons. We could adopt those that promote our wellbeing and do away with the retrogressive aspects. For instance, all of us, regardless of our ethnicities, have some sort of belief system from our roots, complete with gods and what not. Alot of you would agree with me that most modern day christians especially fear these traditional gods than they do the 'Almighty God' they profess to worship. For example, a bible is an object associated with God. You drop a bible at the doorstep of a man, the man comes back from work, sees it, picks it up, walks into his house, sets it on the table and proceeds with his normal routine whenever he gets back from work. To thesame man, take a calabash, pour some chicken blood in it, put in come colanuts or cowries and then some feathers for effect. The man comes back from work, sees it, and what does he do?? Ur guess is as good as mine!
Now, we can make a law such that anybody ready to occupy any political office must swear by their traditional gods or dieties (the Amadiohas et all), that upon taking that which doesn't belong to them, may the wrath of the respective god fall on them. Believe me, when this is done, in no time, the pervasive curruption in the political class which is the bane of our society today will be reduced to its barest minimum. And when the head is right, the body takes shape.
One might be tempted to say a christian cannot swear by any other god, but need I say that the conduct of these 'christians' and the leaders of the christian faith in Nigeria leaves damn too much to be desired. Afterall, christianity is alien to us. If it is not practiced in sheer sincerity and holiness acording to the dictates of The Book, then it is as not being practiced at all.
The solutions to our problems lie within us. The US system can't work with us because their judicial system and national psyche is absolutely different than what we operate here.
Morsi is just being true to type, and I forsee more comming.

duality: NONSENSE..

and CPC is the political arm of Bokoharam. what the heck? The CAN president was the loudest voice against Boko haram. Even louder than that of the president. CPC never condemned the Killing of NYSC members in the north. they kept quiet so as to score political point. Rather than condemn Boko haram and join hands to fight the evil, they simply told us the existence of Political, Religious and Social Boko haram with out telling us the one they support.

I think the media and Nigerians should be circumspect in issues like this.

Even the international community have so much confidence in the personality of oritsejafor.
Just as Obama gave good credits to Jonathan's administration. SMH. Take off ur blindfold brother.

from your write up, its obvious you don't like the truth. what if he never owned a jet. oritsejafor was the only religious leader (christian or Muslim) who spoke loudest against Boko haram. If he had the Political and Military force, he would have taken more decisive steps than Mr President. Stope this private jet issue. its a poor mans mind set. you may need a private jet tomorrow.[/quote]Condemnation of the man's aquisition of a private jet has nothing to do with a 'poor man's mindset'. The pope who's the president of a country and General overseer of the christian faith the world over can't lay claim to a private jet.
Having a private jet isn't bad in itself, but for the position he occupies and the people he soposedly leads, having such smacks of irresponsibility and worldliness.

The man has some of the most corrupt public officials as Elders in his church, and has never raised a voice to comdemn those whose actions breed poverty in the land. He is too close to Aso Villa. I thought the Villa has a Chaplain. Why is he trying to usurp the duties of the Villa chaplaincy??

The day the rogue speaks up against pervasive corruption and hunger in the land, then I'd start taking him seriously.

truth4meal: Orisejafor has only deepen the already sordid name of CAN in the dirty mud of politics - this man of "god" is a disgrace to the generation of Christianity. He politicized CAN and gave it a coloration comparable only to a political party when the best CAN can be is at least a pressure group. The man is deft in heating the polity while brandishing his gold chain and fart-ful utterances. And wats the reward for his sins - a jet on earth and hell in death
You r absolutely right. That man Oritsejafor is a total disgrace!!!!
I remember back in '07 when I was serving in Warri, and had to atend a service at his church because we were to make a presentation. The level of materialism demontrated in that church was absolutely apalling! He made a call to bless people by laying hands on them and categorised the blessings!!
There was a call for those with 50k, 20k, 10k, 5k, 1k, and 500 naira! For eash category, alot of pple trooped out. Couldn't believe the level of desecration of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He is indeed a merciful God..
Also witnessed thesame in Shepherd House in Abuja early this year... Trust me, I refused to drop a dime. Would rather give that to the beggers I come across evryday going to work. No 'man of god' is going to con me out of a cent ever again.

Femi was OBJ's ex-spokesman, so whatever he is saying now should be quoted as his own view.
I believe OBJ is more matured than this, he won't respond to a sitting president like that, even if he has a different opinion.
Saw ur post just after I posted mine. Exactly the point I made. Discerning minds know better than to take the report seriously.

Politics › Re: ''jonathan Got It Wrong On Odi''- Obasanjo by omenka(m): 7:59am On Nov 20, 2012
First off, this is propaganda at its highest level. Every reader should note that at no point in the article was Obasanjo quoted as saying anything. All that was said was by Fani Kayode, Obj's FORMER SPOKESMAN. Fani is no longer under the employ of Obj, hance, the title of the report is absolutely misleading and meant to stair up the hornet's nest. It is classical propaganda. No doubt in the days ahead, Obj would dissociate himself from what was being attributed to him because he's a wise and tactful man who choses his battles wisely.

That not withstanding, I am in total suport and would personally encourage fractures between all these thieves irrespective of the positions they hold. They represent the common enemy of the Nigerian State, and the Nigerian people.

How gullible Nigerians could be. Smh. Don't you know you cannot divorce the presidential spokesman from the president? Whenever the presidential spokesman makes statements onthe record its equivalent to the president making thesame statement HIMSELF!
The presidential spokesman can't utter a single word to the press without the express endorsement of the president! So if Abati tells us today that the colour of the president's boxers are black and tomao the president himself comes out to say they are red, it ammounts to double speaking! Christianity Etc › Re: Pastors Owning Private Jets Is An Embarrassment – Bishop Mathew Kukah by omenka(m):
Who isn't aware most churches today are used by corrupt politicians and other public officials to launder monies? Some of these properties are actualy not owned by these GOs but only bought in their names, to be returned to their rightful owners in due time, most likely after the public spotlight is no longer focused on them... I weep for the Body of Christ..

The emphasis of sermons these days on wealth, finances, cars, et al, is just disgusting.
The other day, a friend of mine invited me to a church. Did go. When it came time for testimonies, out came some lady. Her testimony and the response from the congregation was nothing short of shocking!
...."Always imported these contrabaned goods (*crime*), and paid costoms agents hugely (*bribery*) to let me cross over. Last time I traveled I took the anointing oil blessed by Daddy. I applied it on my goods and myself the day I was to cross. To the glory of God (blasphemy) not a dime was collected from me by costoms that day! Praise the lord!!"
And the congregation rose in thunderous applause!!
Asked my friend if I realy heard what I just heard and he was silent.

Durin the course of the msg, the pastor bragged about the suit he was wearing, that it costs ove a hundred thousand naira, that "lookin good is good bizness"! In response, some pple waved hands in the air, while others claped. Others simply laughed!

That was the first and last time I atended the church (a year ago).

Today, the building of that church is irrecognizable. A gargantuan monument cristened The Terbenacle.. The project took less than 5months to complete.

PS: no exagerations here.

Celebrities › Re: Secrets About Nigerian Celebrities You Don't Know by omenka(m): 4:07pm On Nov 16, 2012
acidtalk: FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT NIGERIAN CELEBRITIES

Over the years I have the chance to work, socialize and be close friends with a whole lot of Nigerian celebrities from all sectors of the Entertainment Business. Be it Actors and Actresses, Musicians, Producers, DJs, Comedians, Fashion Designers, Producers and Directors, Models, Photographers, Writers and even Dancers.

When I am talking of celebrities, I am refering to the "A Class" who is who in their respective fields. As I am currently typing this, I can count nothing less than 186 of them I have on my BlackBerry contact and get to see at least 5 each week on a crucial business or social discussion as it maybe.

I have noticed that Nigerians have a very wrong perspective about their stars and as such also believe every single thing they read in the tabloids and hear on the news.

In order to cut a very long story short, below are some of the things Nigerians should know about their celebrities before getting envious or jealous of them.

* Even after coming from Grass to Grace so many of them still do thing that will take them back to Grass - How else can you explain when someone who barely has N2million in his account takes loan of N15million from a Finance lending us "on the ground of public figure" to acquire a single car of N8million, spends N3million to shoot his hit singles and in less than 2 months this same person is complaining of being extremely broke and looking for other means to collect another loan without settling the first.

Most of Nigerian celebrities live on VERY FAKE LIVES. They are only as rich as the car they drive and nothing else. There's this particular celeb that's stays in a uncles house in Lekki. This celeb made a public stunt claiming ownership of the house and the 2 exotic cars being used to cruise around. Unknown to the public, this celeb's uncle is the owner of the house and cars but because he is based overseas, he gave this particular celeb the keys to the house and car only for the celeb to paint a fake life claiming ownership of the properties.

There's this other young celeb who 2years back was a big name in the entertainment industry. This celeb was so big that under 6months of coming into limelight, was given several awards and toured different countries. This celebrity was so wasteful that he acquired a single automobile of N5.5million then while still squarting with a cousin. After he had a scuffle with his cousin, he moved in with a very good friend in his 2 bedroom apartment on the mainland. Neighbors had to report to the landlord of the house to evict the "main tenant" because as they put it, this particular celeb crawls night every single day and doesn't know the difference between night and day as a plays songs so loudly in the house and car that the effect is felt even 2 building away. When the main occupant was given the option of evicting the house or sending this celeb out, he chose the lather which saw the celeb moving into a room and parlour apartment in the outskirt of town. He was forced to go underground when he was being chased all over by people he owed and at a point, one of his close friends had to seize his only asset (the car) because he couldn't keep waiting on the promises of the day to be paid. Until other friends intervened before the car was given back to the Celeb.

This particular one is very handsome, a smooth talker and dresses very well. He is believed to be one of the richest in his field because he changes cars at least every other month. Unknown to the general public, all those cars except the very first car he bought which he gave to a friend to be using are all on lease. He was introduced by one of his girlfriends to a very big car dealer in town who agreed to always give him latest and exotic ride only on the condition that he will refer as many celebs as possible to come purchase their cars from the car dealer.

This is definitely going to shock a whole lot of people but it is a known fact to the "inner caucus" that 6 out of every 10 Nigeria reigning celebrities always act as Fronts for politicians, government workers and top rated fraudsters to help launder money overseas.
A lot of this celebrities (majority of them who are females) get between 5-15% of the toatal money to be laundered abroad. This explains why even when most of them have nothing to prove for their continuous travels overseas, they just never get to stop traveling. They always lie to the press they are on "tour" to about 6 countries at a go and people in those countries can't attest to them coming over for any performance. but the truth is they help this politicians and government workers stack away money.

Don't Be Glad You Have A Celebrity On Your Contact - If you have one notable celebrity on your Blackberry contant it is stressful enough most especially when the person is a musician or producer. Having more than one can be killing. Most of these celebrities are the worst broadcasters you can find on earth. A lot of them will send meaningless broadcast of shows they are not performing at or events they suggest you go to as early as 5:30am and as late as 2am. They usually don't know that even though their job keeps them on the road till that late at night, others with a different job type just will be sleeping at those odd hours.

There is this particular celeb that stays on a service flat on the Island and he particular told me he pays 6digits in DOLLARS per annum for the rent of his apartment. The sad thing is he NEVER allows his family members comeover to his apartment. His younger brother who earlier this year relocated to Lagos with the believe that he will wine and dine with his notable celeb of a brother was shocked to his marrows when the very day he came, his brother sent him to one of their other brothers place in the outskirt of Lagos with the excuse that his brother was going to be a distraction to his career. Whereas the truth his, he is trying to hide the extremely flamboyant lifestyle he is currently living. He basically gives his family a paltry sum in the name of upkeep whereas spends heavily on women, drinks, clothes (and hard drugs. Don't tell anyone I told you this).

......To Be continued
