@owner Do you know CSS? It will really help you make perfect layouts for your pages be they 2 or 3 column or whatever. Ask yawa-ti-de for her ebook on CSS, visit www.dynamicdrive.com and study their layout tutorial. Google houses many tutorials on this too. Research. You can also YIM whenever my status is active for more info. |
@dexed I'm so much in a haste now but had to visit your site. Please, do something about that google adsense link. It is making the page long and scrollable when there are no more contents to display. Why not try making it horizontal rather that the way it is? I'll get back to you soonest. |
Nice observation dhtml. I love your comments here. Most people want to put down other languages either because they are not good at it or because they haven't gotten the good learning curve to tackle with it. People like me will always tell you that PHP is the better solution to things though other languages are there. The endpoint to all these is simply based on EXPERIENCE. Take for example, using classes in your development. It makes you works much easier for you. But someone who is not yet that experienced will simply have to recode the same thing most times. This same thing can go to PHP includes too where you edit just one page of code and the multiple pages will be edited. All is a matter of experience. After all, was JavaScript not there when Ajax came into being? It's just a matter of being experienced and you can make things happen no matter what language. Start off your ASP.net and I'll join in. I've not tried out anything on ASP but I think I'll do it this time around. Cheers friends! |
You know, after posting the demo link and the codes, you can stop then wait for question. Or, I think I'll start by asking dummy questions so that those who fall in from their holidays will pick up and follow sharply and smartly. |
Standards are the best. No more I did a demo and no payment or I've been owed for 8 months. Not going to be our portion this time around. Hard work to meet up plans is my aim for the year and that means working smarter. Yes I mean SMARTER else , // ban myself from working at all ![]() |
@webdeaai Welcome back. I hope you really enjoyed yourself. How is the new year going to be like? You are welcome back and full time, back to work. Continue your thread as you can see it is on top of the section now ![]() |
Stuffs becoming much in here Piecemeal for better comprehension. Actually I was expecting you to have started off tomorrow. Never mind, I'm going to store up the links to all these tutorials for easier reference by members in here. |
More interesting things for programmers this year. This is no longer the time where everyone is waiting for website review. Now, it is practical. Thanks brother. You are doing too well. Keep it up! |
For the past few days, I’ve been scouring the web searching for the top reasons why Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are superior to table-based layouts when designing a website. Some web designers swear that table-based layouts are better than CSS-based layouts, while others believe that table-based layouts are ancient history and XHTML combined with CSS is the only real solution to coding a web site’s visual layout. Since we’re one of those CSS die-hards, I’ve compiled a list of 13 reasons why CSS-based layouts are superior to table-based layouts. Note: CSS cannot be used on its own to create a website - CSS is merely the tool used to style a web site’s visual information. HTML or preferably, XHTML, must be used to define the structure of a website. The List Faster page loading Lowered hosting costs Redesigns are more efficient Redesigns are less expensive Visual consistency maintained throughout website(s) Better for SEO Accessibility Competitive edge (job security) Quick website-wide updates Easier for teams to maintain (and individuals) Increased usability More complex layouts and designs No spacer gifs |
I love your skill of modifying your posts rather than making unnecessary random posts. Keep it up. This year smells lovely . A journey well began == half gone ![]() |
@poster This issue of knowing different pattern to you, what does it really mean? Are you talking about layout or what? Be more specific so that we can understand your problem better. |
Nice Words!!! |
You've picked up now and remember the advice I gave you. You followed it well and things are getting to the point I pointed out too. What does it say of you? Good? Boys are Boys and Men are Men! Take it or leave it. |
Search around here for tutorials. There are many of them. Just learn as much as you can. Even those menu generators, you can start coding up yours after some tutorials here. |
Thanks for the the code sample Abidemi_A. As for the Punch, I'll let them to their security thing. |
Good thinking and starting point for 2009. Don't forget to get at helping ebooks that will support you as well. |
Nice script there. Best of luck in your exams! God guide you so you write well and come out with great success. |
Adding to all contributed so far, the technique still entails coding smartly. Pages loading faster with CSS in an advantage so using the <img> tag and controlling attributes with CSS is preferable. |
@Abidemi_A and dhtml Is there no way to keep them entirely all framed without having them to pop out when you click on a link? I mean the Punch website? |
Tabulation is tabulation no matter how its design is framed to look. That's my understanding and stand here. Needless for those excess divs while table is what is meant to do the task. Because we learnt about the use of divs should not impart a different orientation in our heads that tables should go into extinction. Tables for tabulation and not divs and spans and classes (using them= working harder instead of smarter). ![]() |
Nice point. Very much like template. You call on the DIV "id" or "class" and reuse the formatting at random. Just an interesting feature of CSS. |
@yawa-ti-de Thanks for coordinating the thread on my behalf. There are more to these reasons which have been pointed out here. Using tables to present tabulated data is ok. Any other reason why we should go for CSS rather than Tables? |
So, exactly how bad are tables for website design? The short answer: Pretty bad! What do you think about it? All arguments should be backed with facts even samples where applicable ![]() |
'Tis just as simple as you want it. More people are needed in here to make posts and contributions. Provided all you want to do is to feature posts from here on your website but replies come back here, "after due registrations and all those activation stuffs", I think there is no much problem. In fact, what you intend doing is creating a new channel from where new members get the awareness of the existence of nairaland.com. Anyway, I'll come back and tell you more on this here after speaking to the admin about it. I like your insight. Just good for my liking. Keep it up! |
Don't forget, course materials should be featured first for faster learning. You have done that on a thread on Dynamic website , Do the same here as it is helpful. |
Thanks for that JavaScript link. At least, one issue I was trying to figure out was featured there so I needn't waste more time solving it when it has been solved there for me .New year bonanza for me there ![]() I still have more issues to ask maybe here or in a new thread. Till then. |
![]() Smartsoft please take it easy. This is 2009. Let's just be serious a little. Or are you now going to be a female in 2009? |
Yawa, Check this website to see if what is done there is exactly or close to what you want to do. http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html |
To all webmasters in the land,Please can you paste your codes here for verification and I hope you have now learnt about the functions of the PHP mail function. How good are you getting on with your PHP tutorial as well? |
@Zero2 You started this issue at a thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-205982.0.html , why not continue from there than starting a new one. All answers and your posts should continue there, please. |
You can simply use the URL with the NairaLand domain here then for other e-classroom you want to offer, you simply use that from you website. I stand to be corrected but this is just what I think. Hope you know this won't be so easy when all the peeps in the house are all back. Just get ready for new sign ups that are entirely novice too ![]() |
Why not hang on a bit and let's have some members back from the holiday. If you continue, it will become much for them to read and digest. Just hold until say 3rd then you can continue. Happy New to All!!! |
