I'm watching you seriously. Don't use this platform to dupe anybody. Moreover, you are not allowed to market here. So get to the business section.

Cheers!
WebmastersRe: Time To Rival Facebook by OmniPotens(m): 8:36pm On Dec 14, 2008
As for this thread, I'll say it is quite a good haven for programmers. Are you one? Do you intend we did something on this? As for me, I could volunteer to do some introductory part of the work but what about you, where will you land?

One funny thing here is, when it gets tougher, even the proposer will not be anywhere again because just as we have debated lately, programmers have nothing to physically show from the front-end but plenty at the back-end. This is one here now.

Do you think you can get into the field of play? undecided
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by OmniPotens(op): 4:23pm On Dec 14, 2008
Asking Seun is not going to solve your problem because his choice are likely not going to be the same as yours. The main thing here is getting the admin in charge of this .NG TLD to make the whole registration process worth it or simply, they announce the non-existence of it and all remove their minds from it.

You question is simply not clear enough to attract better answers. Please, elaborate more on it.
WebmastersRe: School Web Template - Help by OmniPotens(m): 7:13pm On Dec 13, 2008
Yawa, you are correct. Another thing is this template issue. Must all be templates or boiler plates? Do your own mock up and I bet you, you'll come up with something better than you expected. I can testify to this wink

I understand you pie.

Just that they should really make this .NG come live and serve those interested better. Can they?

@pie1ect
I understand what you are trying to point out here. It is good and quite obvious that the .com is "commercial". One more thing here people should understand, from my own point of view is that, depending on the business environment you find yourself in, you should adopt their domain tld. If you are in the UK, .co.uk should service you. In the US, .us, South Africa is .co.za and Nigeria is .com.ng but why are we not using it? Why the difficulty? If you say it takes 48 hours to obtain, why must it be so? Is there anything so special about it?
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by OmniPotens(op): 5:00pm On Dec 13, 2008
Well, this topic is just pertaining to we Nigerians firstly before we start involving the outside world.

I still think there is no big deal about having the .ng tld. It is of great value to us.  Those who castigate it seems to be enemies of Nigeria and I don't think they are proud of themselves not to talk about their origin.

The management in charge of the registration of this domain is really to be held for this. I think they are the ones not helping matters. As we can see, there are people who are ready to use these domains but what about the issuing company, are they there and ready to issue these domains and with competent services (no downtimes (99%), stable, accessible, etc)?
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by OmniPotens(op): 10:14pm On Dec 12, 2008
Why is it that no one really has a concrete information on how we can try resolving this issue here? Makes we wonder if we ever want to try using our nations domain name. undecided undecided

What do I do with you?

Tell me now because I'm just vexed about this your thread.

Thought you were here to train me and all I could see was "Please do not send me any mail if you are not ready to pay N7,500 for this product (e-book)when it is all put together."

WebmastersRe: Code For Send Form Content To Email Using Php by OmniPotens(m): 1:54pm On Dec 12, 2008
Well, your only choice is to go and learn and be grounded. Better no trials because you cannot pick the key of a car and get into the high way to see if you can drive without first learning how to drive.

IMHO, you should just accept the fact that you need to learn and start learning ASAP.

Now you understand why I said no giving out of codes unless they are ready to learn. You have just read and said my mind. I had to start a kinda small tutorial for someone who has waited to get codes but never did. Now, he is happier knowing what the codes he is integrating looks like and works for.

@poster

Watch yourself well or you might not have any response to this. Either you are ready to learn or you are out of our programmers' world. Please, don't make us a laughing thing. Web Designing is there for you to learn. Just do your drag and drop thing thing. If you enjoy and want to belong to our world, EDUCATION is the first key before PRACTICE.

Good luck!
WebmastersRe: Uploading New Wp-theme;help Needed! by OmniPotens(m): 11:46am On Dec 12, 2008
All you need to do is to login to your FTP account, open the folder where you stored the WP files. Go to wp-contents folder and open it. There you'll find another folder named themes. Upload the entire folder containing you new theme there. Once finished, go you your WP admin panel and you'll see it appear there waiting to be used if you want.

NB: Some themes don't work or work well with all versions of WP so be sure of the themes and WP version compatibility before use.
WebmastersRe: Code For Send Form Content To Email Using Php by OmniPotens(m): 2:09pm On Dec 11, 2008
@Zero2
Why don't you want to learn? You just need the code to integrate without learning how do code it. Who gains and who looses? I think it is high time we stop condoning people who are not ready to learn to make posts, questing for codes. Here is kinda place you can learn so why not utilize the opportunity to learn?

Are saying that there is still nothing for us (web developers) to show? Just as you pointed out www.facebook.com for an example, does it mean people are looking at it just from the front end and not the back-end functionality involved?
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by OmniPotens(op): 7:30am On Dec 11, 2008
I believe you Yawa. How I wish other developers will seriously look into this. The basic problem here is that they will see serious issues as this, rather than deliberate on it, they lie in wait for website reviews where they can make a mockery of other peoples jobs. I wonder why that should be the prior thing on their minds.

Waiting for more people with good opinions and ideology on how we can get around this. Two heads are better than one, hope you remember?
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by OmniPotens(op): 5:26am On Dec 11, 2008
@bug24
I have some issues with regards your post.

bug24:
to me,  the URL becomes too long to give out,
www.mywebsiste.com.ng

if it culd come this way: www.mywebsite.ng         maybe it wulda been better.
I don't think the simple addition of a .com.ng gives rise to any long domains. If you think so, what about .co.uk? You might be having the .tk in mind but the fact remains that the choosen extension is .com.ng so we can't help it.

bug24:
also, people tend to stick to what they have always used. they take time to try other things,

eg. why wuld i use that when there is nothing wrong with the one am using,  and its not affecting my sales or whateva in whateva way.
What about this, "there is nothing as constant as change"? From what you pointed out, does it mean that one cannot think about affecting a change in whatever he/she has been doing? Even if it will take time, the fact remains that most people are not really thinking about them, not to try using them. I don't really know, just "thinking" anyway.

bug24:
besides,  the .ng can scare foreigners at the mere mention of the name,  Ooops!!! its a nigerian site, i gotta be really careful with em.
Do you mean to tell me that accidentally, a "mother" lost her eyes, her children should now make a mockery of her and run away from her? IMHO, the fact remains that she is a mother and no matter what, her children remains hers no matter how many years and what generation they find themselves. Why not change your identity from birth and never be a Nigerian? You can't run away from this simple fact. All you can do is to be proud of Nigeria then as her citizen, try the much you can to protect her interest and promote her. A little bit of sanitization from you will do a very big magic. Don't you think so?

bug24:
How on earth did we get in people's black book?
I think you know the right people to ask this  grin

Why do Nigerians still go for the .com and other TLDs leaving off their .ng

Any good reason huh

WebmastersRe: Code For Send Form Content To Email Using Php by OmniPotens(m): 4:23pm On Dec 10, 2008
Are you conversant with PHP? I have suggested that codes shouldn't just be given out without the person in need not understanding the code. Well, just a little stress to make you understand what it is all about.

Do you know what a PHP email function is all about? Do little research and post back. Once there is a reasonable research effort, you'll get the sample code to tidy your work.

No hard feelings about what you want please.

Watch your spelling too. Macromedia not Micromedia as you wrote. Better, it is now Adobe FYI.

I appreciate you quick response and understanding too.
WebmastersRe: How Much Does A Good Website Like Mine Should Cost by OmniPotens(m): 6:40pm On Dec 08, 2008
One advice here first. Improve on you design and developing ability and skill. Once done, you can even charge as much as 500K on a project. Remember, you skill counts. All you need is DEVELOPMENT.

Good luck!
ProgrammingRe: Why Do Big Companies Outsource Their Software Projects? by OmniPotens(m): 5:25pm On Dec 08, 2008
I choose and think No.7 of yawa's post is even more reason.

Most programmers just base on what they'd learned in the past and don't care to learn more. This makes their developments not able to stand to the test of time. Before you understand what is happening, the API is already out of bid. Why? Old specs and nothing of the new or latest specs. Funny enough, plans are not even made for future maintenance and as such, will take almost the same time it took to programme the version 1.0 to do version 2.0 even 1.2 tongue
