May 2009 bring to us all as Nigerian webmasters the following:

1) Better quality websites
2) Better business
3) Websites whose code validates
4) Better designs

and for this forum:

1) More mature conversations
2) Posts from which we can actually learn
3) Less of the trivialities (arguments, etc)

It is well with us all
Thanks for the wishes. Just too good for the baby new year. grin

Happy New Year Otuwe. I think those words are cool for the new year.

OmniPotens:
I do think New Year's resolutions can't technically be expected to begin on New Year's Day, don't you? Since, because it's an extension of New Year's Eve, smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system. Also dieting on New Year's Day isn't a good idea as you can't eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second.

Every man should be born again on the first day of January.
Start with a fresh page.
Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances;
but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more,
with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.

WebmastersRe: Dynamic Web Design Tutorials Ft Javascript,Ajax,DOM,PHP,MySQL... by OmniPotens(m): 9:28pm On Dec 31, 2008
I see you really want to be of help. I'll likely come in at intermediaries.

Another you should try doing is to always get learners a reference on w3school's website, where they can go and read up more contents for themselves. Something like intros (eg Intro to HTML DOM), they should read stuffs like that up at w3schools then ask questions. I guess that will minimize much tutorial typing and increase chances for more questions.

Don't paste so much codes at a time. You are dealing with beginners so don't expect them to become intermediates asap. Take things gradually.

Well, just keep it up.

Happy New Year!
WebmastersRe: Java, Php Or What? by OmniPotens(m): 8:20pm On Dec 31, 2008
So many questions being asked here have their answers are readily available on www.w3schools.com. What needs to be done is for those worried about what languages to embark on, is for them to simply visit w3school's website and have an insight into what the languages entails and more info about them. They can also ask google for more answers.
WebmastersRe: Where Scratch Cards Prints by OmniPotens(m): 9:08am On Dec 31, 2008
Do you mean cards like that of JAMB, WAEC, NECO etc or what? Please be more specific so people can understand what you actually need here.

@dhtml

Why are you always trying to draw our attention away from this forum? You make no posts without referencing us to your website. It makes your posts get boring especially to me.

Make posts and just reference your website and whatever on your signature. That is a better idea I guess.
dhtml:
And for your information, i am not tryin to draw attention away from this forum, i love this forum just as it is and have been a member of this forum for over a year so think properly before speaking, or beta still don't say rubbish you don't know about, and LET THAT BE THAT!!! Afterall we are adults!!
Thanks for your information that I'm saying total rubbish. But hey, watch what you say because if actually you call for what you cannot defend, you'll probably be loosing you integrity here. I guess I gave you a simple correction or an idea and you feel it not good enough or that you are ahead of the game. What do I tell you? Does how long you stay here matter at all even in the real world? Men, you'd better talked about achievements.

By the way, I'm better than this. Point you should note is "include and use your web address as your signature and not letting it around on all threads. Do things maturely. If you say you are old here, you should have known how to do things. Why wait to be told.

Why not just read through to see that others send yawa a mail then she in turn sends them the book. You can do as well.
WebmastersRe: Java, Php Or What? by OmniPotens(m): 1:10pm On Dec 29, 2008
If you've mastered HTML which includes XHTML and CSS then you'll need to get some good learning curves around JavaScript too. Next on your mind should be a Server side scripting language like PHP, ASP, JSP, etc.

Just check out for other available options out there. Just felt I should comment here because almost all newbies into programming are asking the same question as this.

Happy Learning!
WebmastersRe: Possible Web Opportunities For 2009 by OmniPotens(m): 12:46pm On Dec 29, 2008
You are for real. So many companies are like that but if you actually write them, many will tell you their websites are under construction. Check back in the next 3 months, the website will still be under construction. Reason, best known to them. Though this shouldn't make us backslide from sending out proposals. If they are not yet ready, so many are so keep working harder.

I love the encouragement and where you want Nigerians out here to start looking into.

Keep it up.

Cheers!

How are you enjoying your xmas tide?

Merry Xmas!
WebmastersRe: Chrome, Firefox, Or Internet Explorer 8? by OmniPotens(m): 10:48pm On Dec 26, 2008
Meaning you have no choice than to get to version 3. Why waste more time? If your system is halting, why not get someone to fix that for you?

Install and use FF and enjoy. Don't forget the addons that come alongside. cool
WebmastersRe: Who Can Handle A Database Project? by OmniPotens(m): 8:57pm On Dec 26, 2008
Are you trying to write a program that will handle online ticketing? Is that the main concept?

From what I see here, it's like a receipt or a daily sales inventory. Hope I'm right?

Well, throw more light on what you want to do with this.
