FamilyRe: Men: Would You Carry Your Baby On Your Back At Home? by omoge(f): 7:43pm On Jul 05, 2007
a man doesn't have to be told that 'baby is crying'. why did the guy not attend to the baby right away?

both are responsible for the baby. agreed that poster should not have bluntly say back the baby. but then, he should have taken it lovingly. i hate it when guys start doing bigmanism in the house. sharing activities is very important it doesn't make you less of a man.

@ poster, i hope you have settled it out with him and make him know that it is important he helps out cuz loving a lady means sharing.

TravelRe: I Won The Visa Lottery: Now I Need A Job by omoge(f): 5:46pm On Jul 05, 2007
wale, yes you will find it difficult. there is hardly anyone who didn't. Well, i did not because i was here on a full scholarship all year round. i was all alone too. my books were my friends. i found a church and it was nice. i wasn't looking for nigerians, no need for that. i went to a church filled with americans and foreign students (mostly indian and asian) i made them my friends and learnt from them and them from me. we share apt in school when we left the dorms. then a while later i met other Nigeria students. so be open mind okay  wink

for you with green card, don't worry about landing the best job right away. you have to start from somewhere with humbling and patient mind. don't be too chosy with jobs. start lowly and honestly. you will find your ways around. you will then be able to look around for something better. don't say you don't want to wash dish, you never know and it's not a bad thing afterall ''you work for your money''. in my first year in school, i work the salad bar in my college serving dessert and replenishing the huge bars,  just start somewhere even with litttle money that you will earn, your heart will be filled with joy and thanks because it's your hard/handwork.

soul, the guy just dey do one kin  grin grin grin

yes that dog posting that worked for his master sure was hilarious. but true, dog got to work and only for someone in nig to ask the lady for money, you see  shocked

yes oo Osisi, it was sooo shocking and well, all i could do was listen to her and share mine cuz i know we all in same shoe though hers kinda worst. she told me that 2years ago, the inlaw had a girlfriend who gave birth for him and he called to inform them in UK that his gf don born and asked for money by saying 'baby go chop' lol. Her hubby was trying to put money together and she was so mad that he had to drop the idea. that was 2years ago. now he is getting married and asking for money from his sibling in UK. abegi o.

Note: my friend allowed me to share her story. i told her i will pass along advice. so am going to post the url to her, thanks for your idea  cheesy

TravelRe: Nigerians In The UK Are So Stingy by omoge(f): 3:44pm On Jul 05, 2007
i think they do. it's just persistent you know. my classmate (married) and in Graduate school was just gisting me the headache she is facing from both side. last month she said she sent some money to both her mother and hubby's mother. she had saved that money to do her hair, thinking it will be enough for 3months hairdos. right now she is trying to cut off her hair no money for it, couple with she is a student. just last week her brother came back from another african country, where he has soujourned for more than four years and now asking for money to go back to school. he is over 30years old. her sister is looking for a shop and asking for money 90k, the other sister is in college and asking for money(didn't say exactly but that sister, am about to leave for school), she just sent in money to take care of the family rent.

on the hubby side, same story. brother is getting married and want money. the other one ask for money just to upgrade his store and pay for his children school fees. another extended family is asking for money to learn a trade. asked for 50k for the trade. the mother is sick and need care. the sister need help and asking that he call them.

now she is soooo tired she was telling me and i just felt pity for her.

So you see?? now her own friends in Nigeria are asking too so is her hubby's lol.

na wah oooo. shocked shocked shocked shocked

make una stop am ooo grin grin. make una no use depression kill una siblings and friends now. who go give bread then eh? grin grin grin
FoodRe: Help How To Prepare Coolslaw Salad by omoge(f): 1:58pm On Jul 05, 2007
look for coleslaw dressing. if you can't find it, then sub for Mayonaise. also, if you can't find coleslaw dressing and Mayonaise, there is this one they have in nigeria i think it's in a bottle with green top (Heinz brand). i have seen someone use that for coleslaw.

it seems someone no give the poster Elgaxton money he asked for and he is using style lol  grin grin
cheer up my brother  grin grin cheesy. you see Hershey chocolate and you dey complain eh?  grin grin grin grin

family stretching you, friends stretching you, and they are smart fa  grin that they prefer you to call them as it's easy to ask for money in that way than in emails.

giving (in this situation calling you or giving you money) is a thing of the heart. you don't have to ask someone anything or to do something before that person remembers you cool. again, don't wait/count on your friends abroad. make new friends where you are. Remember they have their life where they are now with maybe wife/family or girlfriend and new friends.

Nigerians in Naija should stop asking those abroad for money sha wink

soul, thank you ojare  grin grin

Elgaxton:
@Siena

Cant u just read posts before your own, I said i don't need anybody's assistance abroad, can't u get it

I'm just sayin that there is this mentality that eats them up once they get abroad and that is: " Money is hard here o"It is the wrong mentality!

That will not make any person wether in Nigeria or Abroad a millionaire!
if you didn't ask for money, i am sure they won't say that money is hard o. maybe they are damned too tired of constant demand from others that when a call comes in they suspect it's money issue. why then call just to say hello and have the person ask for pounds or dollars? so you know what you might have done to make them not return your call. the tone of your email (even though you said you called just to say hello) seems like you were asking for money. it will be hard for u to be honest to readers here but bear in mind, people abroad know the tactics (sp) lol

so relax and again, make new friends and forget those abroad they just too busy okay  wink if they call or write you, fine. if they don't, just bear in mind that they are just too busy with life oversea, work, family, new friends etc. also, if there is mentality, it is the mentality that people back home have that once you are oversea, you get money. Yes, there is money but bills sure take am. even air is paid for oversea  grin. no well to draw water, so you pay for water grin

cheers my brother wink

jail isn't even the problem. the thing is cutting life short. doing a 90mph is bad even on free way or high way not to talk of 35 area. there are reasons for speed limit you know. It's to avoid being killed or killing someone. it is better to be late than be a late abi.

take care my brother cheesy

FashionRe: Whats Wrong with Wearing African Clothing In American Colleges? by omoge(f): 1:59pm On Jul 02, 2007
there is the Ghana student in school who always dorns his Ghana dress (Agbada like top) and pant to class all year round. He will put on sweater and then the Agbada like one on top.

For me, i wear jean and danshiki once in a while during summer. When going to church sometime, and when we have some international gatherings.
It's not wrong if the weather will allow you. Oyinbos, they love our dress o. My roommate bought a dress from me and she go to class dress in it at least once a week even in winter lol. I always tease her that how reddish her white skin looked after catching cold in the dress. She always laugh and doesn't care.

yes naija full of different things. ''that iroko tree'' our neighbor just entered o! there is a pot inside. how funny when i look back now.
the witch just confessed she killed so and so and so.

catch that praying mantis, break the leg, next morning someone is walking with a bad leg so he/she must have been the praying mantis

weird stories. agree there are things we can't explain but all this weird stories calls for real investigation. the baba might have given poisonious plant to add to meal to kill someone rather than witchcraft being used. some sickness might have been ravaging the body without the person knowing instead of oh the wife or the family killed her.

fibroid may have been inside the belly instead of oh she get belle for 10years.

jam mammy water and she will make you rich. mammy water get mansion for under sea. if you meet am, she will make u rich, undecided

FamilyRe: Men: Would You Carry Your Baby On Your Back At Home? by omoge(f): 5:27pm On Jun 30, 2007
growing up, i saw my dad backing my younger ones atimes smiley
nothing wrong with it, better yet buy a basket and put your baby inside and carry it. it is all an act of helping your iyawo.

the right thing for him to do (living in western world, he should have known better) was to try pacify the baby. it's not only on the back, baby might just be needing attention. i think your husband is wicked!! afterall that's his baby!!

God save my hubby-to-be when he refuses to give me hand with our baby.

on your side, next time i think you should just say ''honey, the baby is crying and i have relaxer on my hands" please carry the baby. don't say carry the baby on your back, he should just carry the baby and then it's left to him to know what to do to make the baby stop crying.

oh!!! my waist don break with laughter  grin grin grin grin grin. well, there are better things to do than to wait for someone else call abi? i just think it is easy to forget friends when you are not together or in different place. you got your life where you are now, you busy with school, busy with your relationship, new friends, job, multi tasking etc so it might not be because they are tight fisted. instead of waiting for their calls, why not go ahead and make new friends. hold on to the memories but don't limit yourselves with friendship  grin or stuck your tent with one that is thousands of miles away  cheesy
BusinessRe: If You Are Overpaid By Your Bank by omoge(f): 1:38pm On Jun 30, 2007
my lady friend was overpaid. the job she worked for paid more than her salary to her bank. she was excited and went to cash it. happy to buy a expensivve ipod, she also put in down payment for a plasma tv for her new house. 1month later, her office asked she refund the money. she was shocked and was gisting me, at first i laughed but felt pity for her. she made arrangement for deduction from her salary  shocked

another lady was over paid, there was an accounting error and was paid 17k instead of 71. she was happy and said she had been praying for a financial break through. she gave some to church, bought car seat for her lil baby, changed stuffs in the house with the money. she was sued because when the office found the mistake and contacted her, she told them it was their problem and that God has blessed her. in court, the judge told her she is a thief. that she should have returned the money. Judgement: she has to pay back.

so in oyinbo world, if you are over paid, just don't spend it cuz no matter how long it takes them, they will figure it out and then you must pay back  grin
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Are Your Pet Peeves, Phobias And Things That Irritate You? by omoge(f): 2:24am On Jun 29, 2007
same here  grin grin but i wouldn't say mine is OCD just to over hygienic  grin
i remember back at the hostel at sch in Nigeria, my roommates fear to sit on my bed, or touch my beddings, it's just to specky and too tidy. one little line, i know someone touched something. that's going to be a really  angry day lol.
i watched them use other s pillow for seat so i locked my pillow when am leaving for class  grin

my roommates here don't like cleaning after themselves. once i caught my oyinbo roomie using the sponge for washing dish to clean the bathroom sink. once for her shoe. she was like, oh am going to wash it when i'm done  shocked from then on, i got my own everything no more sharing.

i hate it when someone yawn without covering their mouth. spreading their germs and stinking air  shocked

i hate it when others leave messy bathroom for you.

i hate it when other african students stop by unannounce and want food lol, hey!! i just got in from class  undecided and my apartment is not a eatery even though i'm a great cook. When i tell them to wait till after exam for time to make ''free food'' it's like i just said your life is over lol.

soulpatrol:
hmm i hate abnormalities too, or things that don't seem to look right. it could be part of OCD i think (Obssesive Compulsive Disorder). i'm definitely guilty of some OCD behaviour e.g.

if i don't make my bed before i go out, my day is going to be horrible. not only that, the pillow has to be set at a certain angle and the duvet has to be folded the right way, otherwise i'll just be uptight all day o. weird eh! and please don't tell me i'm crazy! grin

washing my hands every hour. i just feel that everything i touch is filthy so i have to run to a sink and wash it off. even though i carry a hand sanitizer everywhere i go, it's not enough. because of that my hands are constantly dry because even when i apply lotion, i end up washing it all off again.

i know this is offensive to some people but i can't help it when i eat at a friend's place, i have to re-wash the utensils or use a napkin to wipe it vigorously (before eating) because i feel like they prolly didn't wash it as good as i do! i'm a dishaholic freak. dishes gotta be super clean o.

another odd thing i do is when i see something bubbling over like paint or saliva i feel like puking. or if it just doesn't look right.
