Thanks Austacus, I will do that immediately I get to Ottawa probably next week.

Austacus:
The one year is not a result of your passport expiration if only your academic programme is 1 year.
That's to say your time has started counting now, so it's left for you to use it smartly NO MISTAKE. These people are becoming stingy with this visa stuff. But this your own is certainly as a result of passport expiration cause it's not even up to 8 months. You should have renewed your passport before submitting (anyways, nothing spoil).

For the PeopleReady they are located at 355 Montreal road (still in Ottawa) or you can call them on 613-842-5048 X 1

Don't call them with a number that's not from Ontario or application number

Call and book your appointment.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Omonoba1981(f): 11:36pm On May 20, 2019
Hello Austacus, tell me more about this PeopleReady stuff. I really need to get something during the summer. I plan going to Ottawa immediately I get my passport wednesday.

I just check and noticed I have been issued counterfoil and its valid from 20/05/2019 to 24/01/2020. Maybe as a result of expiry date of my passport.

Austacus:
My own chip in
She should move to Ottawa or Toronto for summer ONLY to work. If she has any friends (that lives in an apartment) or family member that can accommodate her for the season

Work experience is very very important here.

Relocating to Toronto or Ottawa is highly crazy in terms of cost of living so I will advise her not to relocate.

Her resume should be in Canadian standard, her friends can help her with it, her school employment supports can also help her with it, indeed can also help her with it. But I would advise she should go through school employment supports or friends formats. She should also write a very good ready-made cover letter so whatever work she wants to apply for she would just do a little editing.

In Ottawa ”PeopleReady” employs every day And they have jobs that pay $22 per hr in this summer.

If she wants to come to Ottawa, she should call them and book an appointment with them. then she will be interviewed and write an exam. After the exam, they will congratulate her.

There are surplus jobs in Toronto, Ottawa and BC but the cost of living is maad.

I think the mistake was on VFS website. Maybe they left old information for 2018, and only change the year to 2019.

Austacus:
I like this guy!
Canada education go fit you.
I just asked my professor now, he said it's on MONDAY.
I understand the confusion bro.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Omonoba1981(f): 4:01pm On May 14, 2019
Thanks for the advise! I will put that in mind. My sister could be so lucky, she did same when she came in 2016.

She got in Feb 2016 with Bsc computer science. And change DLI to the poly with Co-OP however she work from Feb/March till she resume and was able to raised 5k from her McDonald. Rounded off her program in December. Applied for PGWP in January and just got 3 years last month. Meanwhile, this Summer she is working with the construction firm she did her co op.

In July her express entry score will be 459, then it will be a total of 3 years work experience where 1year will be Canadian experience and 2 year she was able to claim from Nigeria during her OND with a construction company.

From her Express ENtry profile, with her CELPIP score and adding that she already have 3 year- she met the FSW and CEC with 459.

You might ask why she had that high score.

Age was on her side - got the max score
2 Diploma - one OND that has already gone through WES and another diploma from Canada (she completed in December)
she got 15 marks from sibling in Canada.

My advice for those that already have work experience from Nigeria, you can always give Express entry a short, expecially if you still have age on your side, if you find ielts complex try CELPIP etc.

JustMellow:
Working when your classes have not commenced or prior before resumption will make you ineligible for a PGWP

True ! I have been on call making inquiry for flight Delta airline for Miami 16-19th to Lagos and return date of 31st to Toronto.

The Lowest I could go was 1600 USD. It went as high as 2000 USD. I think I will go with Austacus suggestion. We just spoke with the MP, that has been helping following up. And he just told me to send him some detail so he can talk the CIC office. He asked if i had updated my contact detail via the webform initially. I told him , yes ! When I left Nigeria, I actually sent a mail via webform that I am now in Miami. Not sure why they didn't take this into consideration.

guzenaira:
Between 5-9 days.

But I think there are better ways than spend more dollars taking fight.

Austacus:
I don't think you have to courier your passport to Nigeria.
Write a letter explaining everything to them and sign, then include your biometrics slip that has tracking number, correspondence letter, biometric receipt and passport to VFS global Miami

PS: This process may take up to 1 month to get your stamped passport.

Good luck

Thanks Bracha !

Bracha:
I could be wrong, but I think someone here went in the Summer for a Fall resumption. The only issue I have with this is, I don't know if it'd affect you when applying for PR.

I got mine last year, but when my supervisor advised I come this year, I accepted because I didn't want any issues to crop up later. I don't want to go in the Summer because I don't want to be tempted to work, before my session resumes and I enroll

I'll advise you seek advise from those there already, Naijaforeigner could help too.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Omonoba1981(f): 5:07pm On May 13, 2019
Thanks. I will leave it. It is more expensive and its a community college. It cost me like $5000 + for one semester 13 credit unit.

I plan to do change of DLI from my Bleep Poly to Bleep college ontario which will cost me like 4000-5000 CAD one semester which is more cheaper.

In US its very had to work during school even in summer, I am applying to work but was told I have to register 1 credit to work during summer and mostly have to be within Campus. In Canada, my elder sister was able to do 20Hrs during school and unlimited hours during summer.

And my intended course is a Co-Op based and really like the option of CO-op. My sister during her studies in Sask Poly , she did her co-op in a construction company 8month when she made cool money as she was paid like $23/hr and more for out of station and overtime. Now after studies in December. Her supervisor called her to come work with them during the summer. And she told her boss that she has a kid sister that is coming for studies in Fall, if she can get a summer work for her. And the Supervisor is okay , only if I have a driving license.

But I am a bit afraid even if I am able to the visa, if they will allow me come at the POE during the summer.

I will leave, and plan to check with the school in Canada, if I can transfer my courses. I am planing to take new program similar to what I have now in Miami.

Bracha:
For student TRV, in the section where Vusitor is written, student is written there instead. Some codes are also different in the student TRV.

My main interest is, what you will do about your US school? Will you leave it for Canada or complete it?

Congratulations on your visa. Thank God He came through for you in the end.

I went for the Medical in Miami, was very expensive doing it in US -- $600

The Medical was done April 26th.

guzenaira:
Congrats!!

Visitors visa is different from Student visa.

But how did you later go about your Medicals? I remember your case vividly.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Omonoba1981(f): 4:36pm On May 13, 2019
Thanks, I will have to send it ASAP. I will have to do this via UPS/DHL as I am presently in Miami , and will be very expensive if I have to fly back to Nigeria. And I am presently routing off my last paper in college (Community college) Spring semester.

Qudkom:
Congratulations. There is a difference between visitors visa and student visa. So you need the counterfoil for the later. Also to avoid confusion at the Point of entry. The student counterfoil will distinguish your reason for travelling. Once again congratulations 8months is a long time!!!!

Your patience is remarkable.

no specific template, they might not even ask for the letter, however how your friend migrated to the U.S will be a BIG factor, especially for the sister as the old man might get it while the sister might not.
They should go ahead and fill form while he send letter stating their purpose of trip plus duration and names of invitees

Thanks JustMellow,

I just called one of the clinic in Florida, and it was too expensive. I was told it will cost me $600.

I was wondering if I should send a message to CIC, that I have been in US for more than 6 months in the last 1 year.

Will this be a good idea? Maybe medical report could be exempted for me.

I just got an update on my CIC and request for medical. But not sure if it okay to get the Medical done from US

Omonoba1981:
I am thinking medical would not be needed. The requirement for Medical is if you are

If you plan to stay for more than 6 months

You need a medical exam if you meet any of these criteria:

You lived in one or more of these countries or territories for at least 6 months in a row within the last year

As I said in the past one year I have spent more than 6months in a country that is not considered as destignated.

As of sending them more mails. I will wait a bit till the MP comes with a respond. They respect their MP than me bombarding them mails.

The MPs has a special way in communicating with all the immigration office all over the world. They talk directly to their office via phone and direct email to their supervisors.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Omonoba1981(f): 8:22pm On Apr 21, 2019
That will be perfect then if you have a brother. Let me check with his MPs and ask for help. I already send you the website and email my brother used.

The way this works is as a person who stays in that constituency, your MP is entitle to help his people. But it actually depend on the MP. Some are not just good and willing to follow up. And it also depend on how your brother talk to them.

Note the mail I sent was based on the constituency where my brother stays which might differ from yours.

Shadypoza:
Thank alot, that would be very much helpful. My elder bro lives in Canada and he has actually been the one helping out with my application. We've ran out of options and so i decided to seek help here as to how to go about contacting CAD embassy and going about the application cos my application processing has taken too long and am really worried about it. Thanks alot and i will be expecting your mail. onokevbagbeambrose@yahoo.com
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Omonoba1981(f): 6:53pm On Apr 21, 2019
@Shadypoza I can send you the email, but not sure how they will handle your case. In my case, my brother communicated with the office responsible for his region he stays.

I think he went directly to the office, telling them he lives in their constituency and he is sponsoring his younger sister and has made all necessary payment and need them to help check her status.

In your case, as you are not a PR or stay in there constituency not sure how that would play. And also the school I applied was in Saskatchewan.

But I will send you the MP email and would like to know if he respond to you and what he has to stay.

Meanwhile you can get a whole list of all the MPs in Canada

Hi Austacus, I got confuse myself when you said you felt am shouting . How and with which of the tone.

I came to this forum, with the sole intention to learn from people experience and possible share mine. If i have other intention I wouldn't have shared my experience. I went through my reply, which was initially a response to your concern without adding any exclamation expressing my tone.

When you say pride, I got confuse also. I was only sharing my experience, don't know any other way to sharing it. And the reason I shared other of my travel history was when you made mention of information sharing, I still cant get where the system error is from the GCMS note.

Which is one of the reason been here to learn from other people experience.

Austacus:
Why do I feel that you're shouting at me?
The intonation is just too loud and your pride is irritating.

I wish you success in your application. (you have nothing to worry if your name spellings and DOB is intact in your US/CAN application) try and raise there attention why your info sharing is showing system error.

Good luck
