Boss13: Jonathan we don't want probe yet. Please sack oduah first, then you can probe to catch others.Of course you don't want probe because your hate has nothing to do with finding the truth. You just want her fired because she did what others dared not do -give Igboland international access. Jonathan would be a FOOL to touch her, and this might even signal to Ndigbo that maybe time has come to throw Jonathan under the bus. |
donphilopus: Must she wait for the president to sack her??HATERS! Those of you who hate the president will NEVER vote for him in 2015. He would be a BIG FOOL to do anything for you because it would be like a hen trying to please the kite -mission impossible! HATER KEEP HATING. |
No harm should ever befall Stella Oduah, whether man made or by an ACT OF GOD. She is the most achieving Minister of Aviation we've had in years, and she has been working hard to extend coverage of air travel facilities to ALL geo-political zones in Nigeria. We know that her travails stem from this very fact (total air coverage of Nigeria -some people HATE THAT). Jonathan must resist the attempt to fall into this open pit dug by enemies of progress for him. The woman should be allowed to complete all the airport projects she initiated and must not be replaced by evil people who want to stop her work |
I hear that the British PM flies public airlines. Has ANY Nigeria president EVER flown on public airlines? This lynch mob conspiracy against Stella Odua should stop. |
Not that I agree with all your points, but I remember the days of my childhood in Igboland when we (the kids then) usually called every black person on TV "onye Igbo". Even Ben Johnson was referred to as "onye Igbo" by kids! ![]() |
Umu Anambra na Umu Igbo, Our Prime Minister Alex101 has articulated the majority opinion in the Eze's council. Onu madu bu onu mmuo! We hereby endorse Chief Willie Maduabuchi Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party for the Anambra gubernatorial elections slated for November 16, 2013. Umunne m na umunna m, Politics is a game of COMPROMISE. By this I do not mean compromising ethos and age old Igbo values, rather I mean a game of QUID PRO QUO -onye dara ibe ya, ibe ya adara ya. That is how we have lived in peace in Igboland for thousands of years. That is how we maintain one of the most enviable of African cultures. There are no winners and losers in a place where all are wishing for common good. All we need to do is to stop being passive once Obiano gets sworn in. We should use whatever resources available to us to hold his feet to fire, and ensure that he delivers to the benefit of Anambra and Ndigbo. If we do this, our fears of Peter Obi's undue influence in the Obiano governorship can be checked. Evil can only thrive when good men do nothing! So, let us all lick our wounds quietly that our candidates did not make it, but let us put collective Igbo interest ahead of personal interests. My street sense tells me that once Obiano gets sworn in, Peter Obi's influence would start to wane almost immediately. Power is unpredictable. If Obiano develops reluctance to sideline Obi, we shall help him do just that! We shall not abandon our party to selfish men. We shall work within the party to ensure that selfish men never colonized us internally. A na ebu uzo chofuo egbe biara ibu okuko tupu abara okuko mba maka ipu na ezi! Ka anyi gbako aka chufuo egbe a na akpo APC. Dalu nu. Signed, Yours truly, Onlytruth. |
Bandit C.:My brother imagine this type of nonsense! It seems that these people truly believe in their hearts that we are a captured territory and must remain under their feet. God punish satan! ![]() |
Jokers and haters at work. If they are serious they know where to start! First Festus Odimegwu, now Stella Oduah. Let's see if they can pull this one off. If they succeed again, I would know for sure that not only is Jonathan lost, he also cannot be trusted. This woman's "real crime" is known to us. Let no one think that these marauding haters and bloodsuckers ever hoodwinked anyone. |
Thanks to those who have represented their candidates so far. I have to add something quickly:- The umunna are looking to endorse a candidate that aligns with the overall Igbo national interest/agenda in Nigeria. That much is common sense. We shall endorse a candidate before the end of this weekend (if not even sooner). |
No matter how one looks at this, it is BAD news for so many reasons. So, Nigeria cannot handle the truth afterall even if the very existence of the country depends on it? Well, we shall see where all these leads. |
The other point I need to state is that we know little about some of these candidates ( I have inside knowledge of Obiano's candidacy for example, but I know little about Ngige's, and nothing Uba's). So, if anyone has information on their preferred candidate that the rest of us should know, the person should by all means share them. At the end, we want to support the RIGHT candidate, not necessarily the one "likely to win". As a matter of fact, as things stand today in Anambra state, the likely winner is unknown. We just want to stand on the right side of history. |
gleaf: In your negatives for Obiano you mentioned that he looks dull, I remember when Obit was contesting in 2003 people thought he was dull and now he has broken the jinx as the only governor to have served two tenure creditable and crushed the so called lions and tigers in Anambra politics.Points well noted. To keep things in proper perspective though, bank is not a government position. People tend to misbehave more in public (not private) positions of authority. Secondly, no one is really looking... As for Peter Obi, only God saved him from the hands of the PDP in the state in his first four years (you seem to have forgotten easily). Remember he was impeached at a stage. Also Ojukwu was alive and towering above these "lions". If Jonathan staggers in any way along the way between now and 2015, whoever is the governor of Anambra state would then have to stand on his own legs and depend on his own fangs to survive. Ngige was kidnapped and humiliated by Chris Uba because of the same issues. These are the debates I am having with myself and others in the council behind the scenes. Please let no one assume that any questions raised means that we hate the candidate. We are only seeking for truth. Dalu. |
Umu Anambra na Ndigbo, The question is really simple, but the answer is NOT. For the past two weeks I have studiously applied my mind to this question, but the more I think about it the harder the answer becomes. What pains me most is that we didn't have to face this tough question if all the credible APGA candidates had been allowed to test their popularity with the electorates in typical Igbo democratic fashion. The most credible and productive leaders of our people are usually chosen that way. We were denied that chance, hence this situation. Nevertheless, let us apply our minds to see who among the THREE TOP contestants we can support through our online activism. (1) Chief Willie Obiano (APGA) - Positives: The man seems like a good man. He is well educated and has financial management background which is REALLY needed in our state. He seems mature and calm. He enjoys the support of the outgoing governor (I have to count this as a positive because it may aid his success at the polls). He is a typical Igbo son. APGA has been our party; though we are angry at how things evolved. Negatives: The man has never held any government position that I know of (please correct me if I'm wrong). He is a product of zoning -an egregious political move that can lead to future division in Anambra state. He is too close to the outgoing governor, hence may aid in covering grand theft (if any needs covering). He looks dull sometimes; Anambra is a state populated by lions. A sheep will be eaten. (2) Dr Chris Ngige (APC) - Positives: He has a proven record of delivering dividends of democracy (at least in road construction). He is a very intelligent (and even cunning) man which may aid his political positionings and calculus. He is a resolute (or even stubborn) character, hence can push his agenda to his desired end. He is known throughout the state and has a cult followership. He is a typical Igbo son. Negatives: He can turn his back on friends if need be in order to advance his personal interest. He turned his back on Chris Uba (positive), and also turned his back on deported Anambra citizens (negative). He has no clear commitment to any other than himself. (3) Ifeanyi Uba (LP) - Positives: He is a young man with drive and ambition, and those are needed to move Anambra to great developmental heights. He has embarked upon many philanthropic projects in Anambra state. He understands the problems of businessmen (traders and those involved in commerce). He has power of persuation. He is a typical Igbo son. Negatives: He failed to pay enough attention to his company/business while planning his gubernatorial race (he had started his plans for the guber race around three years ago). Some say he is not educated enough ( I don't know how true this is because in all his debates and speeches so far, he appears to hold his own). He has a controversial reputation among his opponents, with some questioning his integrity. These may add up to snag his rise at the polls. As for me, I am staying neutral at this stage... My candidate did not make it this far. After this, our PM Alex101 will make a case for the popular candidate in a new post. Umu Anambra na Igbo, o ruo na omume! Signed Onlytruth ![]() |
cjrane: Yorubas are full of deceit and cannot be trusted. You'd think that the oppression they suffered under Hausa/Fulani rule which culminated in Abiola (man and wife) deaths, and other humiliating events during those years would have thought them to think twice. My brother the truth is that they FEEL closer to Hausa/Fulani than they feel for other groups in Nigeria, particularly fellow southerners. I can see them staying in the same country and serving Hausa/Fulani up to 1000 years, but I can't see any other group in the south doing anything remotely same. I don't even see middle belters doing it. That is the TRUTH about Yoruba and Nigeria. |
This could be fake, since we don't know any of these signatures. BUT this may well be true because of the characters involved. If I were Eze Uzu Awka I would watch my back. But come to think of it, the monthly amount of N120,000,000 to Victor Umeh (compounded annually) would have been enough to tar all the roads in Fegge Onitsha between Silas Works rd and Uga Street. This probably explains why it has not happened yet. |
A non-Nigerian passing by this thread will feel very sorry for the human beings that inhabit that space. Only about 5% of posters were able to grasp the issues I raised in the OP, focused on them and avoided the usual dumb temptations of ad hominems. Some were wanting me to name names and tag everything down as if they are in kindergarten. Of course I won't do that. The thread was even opened to warn POLICY MAKERS (most of whom hopefully are smart enough) to prepare Nigeria for the challenges of the 21st century. But I must confess that I forgot briefly that there is no Nigeria. This thread was really inspired by something I read somewhere in Nairaland where someone was arguing that all federal universities should be sold off to private investors. The guy was arguing strongly that this is what obtained overseas. I was scracthing my head at this type of lazy mentality. Copy and paste, that's all. No review; no adaptation! 98% of Yoruba commentators here couldn't see beyond "the Nollywood-in-Ethiopia-and-Africa" horizon. Once they got to that stage of the OP, their hearts lept into their mouths and from there every other points were useless, and the thread should be trashed. Well, my hope is that someone in authority would implement some "review and adapt before adoption" regime in Nigeria -particularly in agriculture; else there may be no humans remaining there before we have time to partition the country into multiple nations. ALL MY POINTS REMAIN INSURMOUNTABLE. |
shymexx: TOTAL CRAPI know you are struggling to think about the points I raised against the animal inside you that only sees a human being to attack. Please try harder. PS this is what I said. Onlytruth:AT &T did not develop the BSD systems that I use. I can't see anyone these days still using AT&T UNIX in the form AT&T left it. ![]() It is like giving credit to Isaac Newton for the car I drive today, or giving credit to the Wright brothers for the Dreamliner jet that I fly from time to time. In any case you are supporting my point that America gave it to the world -FREE. ![]() I wish that Nigeria can develop things and give to the world rather than just wolfing down everything without adaptation. Lets stick to the topic please. |
Alfa Seltzer: This is why the USA remains above the so called "smart" nations. Individual freedom and competition. Do you know that in US, you must create competition for yourself if nobody else is competing with you? People need to start trusting in themselves and the human capacity to advance instead of limiting ourselves through some misguided "smartness".I personally believe that America is great because she has given more to the world than the world has given to her -FACT. Whenever I use a partcular brand of the UNIX operating system (a free and open source operating system developed at the university of California Berkely -a US public school) to develop certain applications, my soul simply blesses America. Just one example. America thrives on innovation and a certain pattern of generosity through the years. Now, I am not saying that she is not without faults, but she has given more to human development than all other nations. She adapts certain products before importing them -an example automobiles (American spec, remember?) Why not we have Nigerian spec? |
Alfa Seltzer: Onlytruth, our Eze. I ga adi.Nwanne I think you misunderstand some of my points. I am NOT a protectionist -far from that. I am not a pro-censorship. Not at all. I am only asking that Nigerians REVIEW AND ADAPT things to Nigerian reality. That's all. I am for smooth international trade and relations. However, nations are expected to be smart in adoting things into their societies. Nobody will tell you this openly, but ALL smart nations do it. |
DerideGull: You have wasted a precious time trying to enlighten gang of feel-happy "copy and paste" artists on NL. Why should new century be kind on bunch of stones?lol ![]() |
NRI PRIEST: Laughing at dreamers and comedians....We got the game in the bag. NRI PRIEST: Soludo should go and sort himself out before anything. We don't want people with baggage. And by the way,Obaze will always be ahead of Soludo in Apga. Soludo should forget about Anambra,he will never get to the Ziks house.Odenigbo nwanne you talk as if Obiano is a saint. Even Peter Obi is glaringly very corrupt. The problem in Nigeria is that once anyone is close to the President of Nigeria, his sins are overlooked, that is until that president leaves office, or other things knock them out of stance. You talk about Peter Obi as if it is not the same Peter Obi that could not claim his mandate until the courts saved him. The same Peter Obi that could not win a second term in office until Ikemba intervened and pleaded with umu Anambra to vote for him. Now suddenly he has become a god?! ![]() Nwanne biko jiri nwayo. lol All it takes to demystify Obi is Obiano losing the forthcoming elections, which is very possible in Anambra state. For your information, I have an INSIDER's interest in supporting Obiano, but my belief in Igbo republicanism trumps any selfish interest I may have in Obiano's victory. Ndigbo are greater than ANY individual. ![]() |
Why is the North always afraid of restructuring Nigeria? I just don't get it. Restructuring Nigeria only helps to make her stronger IMHO. I'm seriously baffled. The resoluteness with which the North combat restructuring supports the suspicion that the current system works only to their advantage. Of course other parts of Nigeria will never allow current system to continue. |
As for the original post, I opened it with the hope that someone in authority would at least think about one or two points that may help keep Nigeria safe, AFRICAN and progressive. That is the least I can hope for at this stage. I advise Nigerians to think. The new century will not be kind to dumb nations. Nuff said. |
kingoflag: LmaooooDude, honestly you have a SERIOUS mental problem. Not just you though, dayokanu too. I cannot, in all honesty, imagine either of you being USEFUL to ANYONE or ANY society. Both of you are HUGE BURDENS to society. I can bet my last cent that both of you are on welfare, or on drugs most of the time. I have been more useful to myself, family, town, tribe, nations (Nigeria and US) than both of you can ever be in several life times. Everything you said above bolded are DIRECT OPPOSITE of me. ![]() |
IGBO-SON: ![]() I honestly hope that somehow Soludo will still contest this election under APGA. |
Sloan: Says ONLYTRUTH, who sits his black ass in obodo oyibo giving lectures! "Do as I say not as I do", why not come back to Nigeria so you can practice what you preach? I see, you are enjoying the fruit of the labor of people like me who let your sorry ass into this country while preaching useless things that will cause the destruction of your people in Nigeria? You preach to them to only eat Abakaliki or ofada rice but here you have uncle Ben's, Thai, Chinese, India, Cambodia, American, plus all their condiments in all their glory? What a fake thing! You should grow a brain for once. I live in a place where things are done properly and I want the same for my home country. Is that too much for you to understand? SMH. Few people can game the system that ensures public health and safety here. In Nigeria, Dangote can import rice or sugar or any food item that can lay a serious health land mine for generations to come, and nobody looks at it. Some of us aren't as self centered as some of you. |
Afam4eva: That's how i saw a guy with a winter jacket under the lagos sun sweating like a christmas goat. Another lady rubbed MARYKAY on her face and after hours under the lagos sun, MARY was on one side, KAY on the other and hustle in the middle. Let's stop copying everything we see.The clothes are even the least of the things to watch out for. I am more concerned that we have near zero environmental review in establishment of industries. The danger of cancer is growing without anyone even thinking about this problem. Agriculture is the one that will do more damage if we don't take time. |
isale_gan2: Good post, Eze Gburugburu I and II (or is it I and III) of Nairaland. You have a point about the low quality of some of Nollywood movies, but the fact remains that we can control what goes into it, unlike what comes from outside that you have ZERO control over (at least we don't even try to control any). Nollywood gives us the opportunity to shape our image and culture. We are even using it to shape AFRICAN culture CONTINENT-WISE. People in Ethiopia understand Igbo culture and mindset now more than ever. For me that was something impossible to achieve before. An Ethiopian musician just translated Flavour's "Adamma" and the song is booming there. That is just one example. The Nigerian government ministry in charge of such things should swing into action and move it in the right direction. A Nigerian house-wife (for example) watching "Desperate Housewives" cannot serve us well . She is not in a position to even begin to understand that about 90% of what she is watching is NOT real. This is just one example. There are many like such. Before anyone misunderstands me, I am a strong supporter of free market. I am not against importations. I am only saying that we should shape what comes in, the way the Ethiopian guy sang the Ethipian version of "Adamma". |
One of the things that baffle me most these days is the rapacious and mindless way by which Nigeria and Nigerians copy foreign things. This copycat culture is now assuming epidemic proportions. It is NOT EVERYTHING you see overseas that is good for Nigeria (or even Africans). Some (if not most) of them were NOT designed for us. Before anything is added to the society, it is usually designed to suit a particular society. Therefore, there should be a thorough review of its suitability to our peculiar culture, nature (phisiology and psychology), environment, social system, political reality, history...etc before adoption. Previous Nigerian governments did well to stem some of the massive foreign assault on Nigerian societal reality. We are Nigerians, Africans before anything else. If anything at all we should be EXPORTING our things. We are doing well for example exporting our movies ( Nollywood) and Music (current Nigerian musicians are simply awesome and a pride to associate with). Nigeria is a TYPICAL African country, hence our products are suited for Africa and Africans. We cannot say for example that Thai rice is best suited for Nigeria, when we have Ofada and Abakaliki rice. We must not simply privatize because we see others do same overseas. I see our schools (tertiary institutions) going down this route more and more, and I know that some of these new private schools can NEVER produce the type of GREAT Africans and Nigerians that our Federal universities produced. The same appeal goes to the agricultural sector. I hope that we are not grabbing ANY and ALL foreign food materials without thorough scrutiny and review. The world is no longer as innocent as it used to be. Words of advise from Onlytruth. |
Bliss4Lyfe: My concern is that the State Gov can't spend all its time building rural road with state funds. Anambra really needs a credible and functioning local gov to undertake local responsibility with the state employing a check and balance to ensure project are carried out with funds available.Bliss4lyfe my sister, are you sure that you are not my missing twin sister? ![]() Your views are ALWAYS EXACTLY MINE. ![]() |
manny4life: Yes he's business smart, but I don't see anything wrong in joining politics if you ask me, I just thought he wasn't ready. Yes, you're very correct, he has EVERY RIGHT to contest, and I will support him but he needs to get it together..Oh why do you think that I am fighting to protect Ifeanyi's right to contest? lol Nna all politics is local. However I am making money first. You always need money to run for elections whether in Nigeria or in America. That is also why people calling Ifeanyi Uba "moneybag" are the clueless ones. ![]() |
manny4life: This is my fear which is why I emphasized about other political aspirants mount pressure on Obiano (i.e. if he wins), no more lame duck govt. There is NO WAY for us to stop that once he is sworn in; unless God intervenes and turns him into another Ngige (a la Chris Uba). |
