here did u get that from

about the trust funds that is what we call federal character

u southerners make fun of us being backwards and so we what to catch up that all.

who u not like that if we are blood brothers
So, federal character means to extract oil from Igboland and SS, and allocate 5% to the areas producing the oil, while allocating 85% to areas not contributing a dime to national coffers?
That, in your opinion, is federal character?

Need I say more.

Now, time to advise some lost Igbo souls about Buhari.
Take a close look at the statistics dished out by Afenifere (credible because it was tendered as an issue of complaint to the Oputa panel); the Yoruba was complaining about Buhari's shenanigans. Does any of you see south east statistics there?
I did a quick back envelope calculation and came up with about 2% allocation to south east (an oil producing zone)  from PTF under Buhari.

If you tell me that Buhari will be fair to Ndigbo as a president, I will tell you to visit a psychiatrist fast!  undecided cool

haba onlytruth my brother, why are you talking like this na

Buhari respects all nigerians whether igbo, yoruba or ijaw

we are one, remember we northerners voted for obj who is a yoruba(southerner) that is just to tell you that we do not care about ethnicity

buhari is the only one that can handle people like obj, ciroma, and ibb

yes, history tends to repeat its self but then we were in the age of miltary rule now we are in the age of democracy
Dude are you serious?
So, military rule is an excuse to screw other parts of the country?
Mind you that was PTF - Petroleum Trust Fund, which (if you think about it) should even be used to develop the south more, afterall that is where oil money comes from. But not Buhari! He is a quintessential Fulani who believes that the North rules roughshod over the south. All those kaffirs down south can go to hell!  cry

that was then, this is now

nigeria goes beyond yoruba, igbo or hausa/fulani

would you rather allow someone who dines with ciroma ibb and co to rule you

or have u heard of buhari meeting those people
Did you say, "that was then" (sic)?
Ol'boy, so naija no get history again? And history don't repeat?

I would rather have someone who dines with the devil but has a sense of fairness and justice than some fake corruption fighter who don't even accept that I am a human being in the first place. undecided

The clear difference about a Jonathan presidency, is that he sees the whole of Nigeria as one and is not going to cheat any section of the country.

I won't say that about Buhari. NOT BY A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOG SHOT! cool

What baffles me is how SOME people actually see this man as an agent of change.

How Buhari Skewed PTF Projects in Favor of His Northern Zone- By Afenifere

The Abacha regime created a parallel government through the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) headed by Major General Muhammed Buhari. Nothing else typifies the marginalization of the Yoruba than the lopsidedness of the projects carried out by the PTF. Figures from PTF Situation Reports (Vol. 2 Dec. 98) show that the PTF carried on as if there was no South West.

Of all the roads rehabilitated by the PTF, only 1984.5 kilometres of roads representing 10.84 per cent were carried out in the South West; from where the bulk of the PTF revenue came since the zone consumes over 60 per cent of refined petroleum products. All the Southern States had 4,440.43 kms or 24 per cent of road rehabilitation as against 13,870.47 kms or 76 per cent in the Northern States zone three comprising the North-West States of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara had a lion share of 5020 kms or 27.42 per cent because the Fund’s Chairman, Buhari and the military dictator Sani Abacha were from there; zone four comprising the North-East States of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe picked 23.48 per cent. This is the zone where Salihijo Ahmed, the late Chief Executive of Afri-Project Consortium APC, the sole consultants that supervised all PTF projects came from.

Figures in other sectors were more scandalous. For instance, under the National Health and Educational Rehabilitation Programme (NHERP), the South West had zero allocation in the tertiary programme, while the North picked 100 per cent. In the vocational programme, the South West had zero while the North had 97 per cent. In the primary area, the South-West had zero against 88 per cent for the North and in the secondary area, it was zero for the South-West and 86 per cent for the North.

The health sector is similar. For the Teaching Hospitals, the South-West had zero while the North had 62 per cent. For the Specialist Hospitals, it was zero for the South-West and 71 per cent for the North; in General/State Hospitals the Yoruba had nothing while the North had 56 per cent for health clinics, it was zero for the South-West against the North’s 100 per cent.

Under the food supply summary, the Southwest had 7.26 per cent compared with 83 per cent for the North, Buhari’s zone having 60.54 per cent to itself.

Demographic Manipulation: The Northern wielders of power have skewed all demographic indicators to marginalise the Yoruba and confer undue advantage on the North. For instance, while the old Kano and Lagos used to have the same number of divisions, various demographic manipulations over the years have brought about absurd disparities between the two states. While the old Lagos remains a state with 20 local governments, the old Kano has become two states-Kano and Jigawa with 77 local governments. These are some of the indices used for revenue sharing.

I am Igbo and a christian - I support Buhari, WHY:
- What Nigeria needs a man of Integrity and Honor
- We also need practical leadership
- Cluelessness of Jonathan will not gain us anything.
- As for my people, Ndigbo will achieve a lot if the system works. And Ndigbo in 2011 can still be salvaged.

Support and Vote Buhari 2011.
My friend make your point and move over.  undecided We heard you the first time, though Igbo say that ihere na ahapu onye ara gba oto n'eme nwanne ya!

The same Buhari that plotted with other northerners to topple the government that was going to make Alex Ekwueme the NPN presidential candidate in 1987?
The same Buhari that threw Ekwueme (a practical saint) into Kirikiri, while putting Shagari under house arrest where he had the room to do anything including drinking tea?
The same Buhari that turned a blind eye when an Emir was smuggling 53 suit cases of cash during his so called war against indiscipline?
The same Buhari who used his position in PTF to build good roads in the north, but none in the East.
The same Buhari who ignored Ndigbo to pick his running mate from the West?

My friend if you are not efulefu, then, the word has no meaning in Igbo lexicon.

I have one question though.

Please can supporters of GEJ from the north and SW raise their hands?

Before Buhari and Ribadu picked their VPs from the SW, it was all GEJ.

And I still wonder why some Igbo folks only see Jonathan and the coming elections in this information.
How myopic can some people be?
If we know today that Igbo made up even 25% of Kano state, would that information/FACT disappear in 2015? or 2019? Why can't people see that Jonathan is being forced by his own ambitions to reveal things never revealed before in Nigeria about Ndigbo? How brainless can folks be? SMDH! cry cry

Some Igbo folks can't live with support for Jonathan; must they also fail to see what they can gain from all these revelations? For me, I would support GEJ 100% in exchange for all these revelations, because they are priceless!  cool

They should just not rig the elections.
And you think that is the only thing to take out from this information? huh huh
So, let me ask you a question. Supposing that one day, there is a credible census in Nigeria, and it turns out that Igbo are actually the single largest tribe in Nigeria, you would run and hide under the bed because it won't go down well with some people? You would start warning of a violence against Ndigbo? undecided undecided

Eziokwu sometimes I wonder where some of you leave your brains. cry cry

Is that how you would ever get justice in Nigeria? By running away from your well deserved justice?
So, even if a northern president (though highly unlikely), decides to right the wrongs of the past, give Igbo their due in Nigeria, you would die out of fear because of how others might feel about it?

Look at it this way, you are not in the north. You are safely away from there. So, why are you inciting northerners against your own people through your wimpy prognosis?

I believe this is true, but I don't see this as good news. Foolish Igbo people in the North. Haven't they learned from past events? I swear Igbos who live in the North are DUMB DUMB DUMB. That include members of my family are just too dumb, and want to continue to live in Northern Nigerian.
Calm down. Does it occur to you that they did not have a choice?  Look, Igbo people are like yam plant. Yam is a climbing plant. A good farmer should provide poles for the yam to climb on. If you give them a pole to clime on, they would clime on it. If you deliberately with hold the pole, they would still climb, but they would choke every other plant in the farm.
Nigeria thought it could "control" the Igbo by denying us federal presence and development in the East. Well, we left the East and are now about to dictate the tone of things NATIONALLY. cool It has to be one or the other.  undecided

Thank God the beneficiary of this Igbo population is the president of Nigeria. Let's see if there won't be a military massacre in any part of Nigeria that try that nonsense.
I see some folks developing heart attacks because the truth about Nigerian population and spread is gradually coming out.

I remember how Obasanjo resolutely rejected the inclusion of tribe in the census. He knew all along. And I suspect he advised Jonathan to cash in on that truth.

Which kind nonsense be dis Huh

How can Igbo be 40% in kano? Is it just the city of Kano or Kano State as a whole?
Igbos don't have that much population in Kano!
Obiagu, do you remember what I told you about Jonathan knowing something the rest of us don't about Nigerian demographics? I told you that something is pushing him to run, and it is not rigging.

Well, this information is not unexpected for me, though it is murky about the Kano figures -never clarified whether it meant Kano metropolis or state. I have always maintained that Igbo population spread in Nigeria is enough to tilt the scale for Jonathan. I remember wondering how Ojukwu was able to place third in a Nigerian presidential elections despite his past; and that was an election heavily rigged for Obasanjo. Imagine if it wasn't rigged.

So, there you have it! I am not shocked one bit! cool
PoliticsRe: Why Is There No Looting In Japan? by Onlytruth(m): 5:03pm On Mar 23, 2011

I think your claim presupposes that there is one culturally superior group (Japanese) who can only be negatively impacted by the other three. There could be positive and negative impacts on each of the four from the other groups and there could definitely be an arrangement of some four groups that could result in a net positive impact on the constituents of the country by their union, thus making cultural heterogeneity a superior alternative to cultural homogeneity. I suspect that there are already some countries in existence where this (mostly) mutually beneficial cultural fusion is exactly what happened and where what we think of today as one national culture is actually a fusion of cultures.
@PhysicsMHD

All I am really saying is that in a country where there are DIFFERENT belief systems and cultural practices spread among different groups within that system, there can NOT be similar reaction to the same thing, eg, disasters.

If you take a look around the world, the only way to maintain "sameness of conduct" in culturally heterogeneous societies is through the use of force of law -police, law courts and jail. Nothing else.
This is a controversial view, but it remains the truth.

The example I gave about an assumed Japan made up of REALLY DIFFERENT nations, is spot on. The proportion of national representation in this cultural mix is really irrelevant. The point is that Japanese believe same things.

In Nigeria for instance, we don't believe same things. . .AT ALL. That is why there is constant looting, from the top government officials at the national level, to a guy standing by the way side waiting for an accident to happen. There is no sameness of view and culture.

ROSSIKE gave an example of what normally happens in Igboland. It is not a matter of being superior or right or wrong. It is just what it is.

You brought the verdict upon yourself when you decided to twist my words out of context. What do you mean by "he has an agenda?" So I cannot hold an opinion again because I might offend your sensibilities?
PoliticsRe: Why Is There No Looting In Japan? by Onlytruth(m): 7:57am On Mar 23, 2011
@PhysicsMHD

What I'm saying is that what you see in Japan is the result of a cultural homogeneity among a people -they all believe the same thing. For instance honor, dignity, suicide.
Supposing Japan is made up of 25% Russians, 25% Uzbeks, 30% Japanese, and 15% Arabs, do you think there won't be looting or something similar? Do you think that the Japanese culture would dominate those of Russians or Arabs etc?
Supposing the Japanese believe in violence only as a last resort to self defense (as is usually the case), would the Arab agree with that? The best you can hope for in such a country is RULE OF LAW, not culture.
Brain dead Eku_bear was blabbing until he mentioned the Oba suicides in the Yoruba land of the olden days. In Igboland, suicide was considered the worst form of taboo, and perpetrators were cast into the evil forest; never to be buried!  undecided cry
You see cultural difference?  undecided undecided

In my part of Igboland, before the war, people could go to the farm and forget to bring home their farm produce. Nobody dared touch them. Ever!

When the Oba of Benin cast a curse on kidnappers, it worked for a few days, until non-indigenes said bleep the oba, and continued with their crimes. undecided I bet you that if it was only binis, they won't dare, 'cos they believe the Oba's curse would affect them.

Finally, yes, the civil war launched armed robbery in Nigeria. My parents recall that before the war, if a thief entered your compound, all you needed do was raise your voice and ask "who is that!" and the thief would take to his heels!

Today, they would kidnap you, tell you where to bring millions of naira whether you like it or not. If they want to be brash, they simply come to your house and shout "who is there!" and everybody would take to his heels!
What a turn of events, because we are experimenting with babel!  cry cry
PoliticsRe: Why Is There No Looting In Japan? by Onlytruth(m): 8:26pm On Mar 22, 2011
The dominant culture in Nigeria is one handed down from politics which is the "ba kwomi" culture of the Hausa(the dominant political force in Nigeria since after the war), which sweeps every evil under the carpet. Same has permeated other cultures which are on the receiving side.

Armed robbery for instant was a product of the Nigerian civil war where Nigerian soldiers (dominated by northerners) looted and raped on their way into Biafra and Igboland. Most of the Biafran soldiers used to believe that if they looted or raped, they never made it back home alive, they believed they would die at the fronts, so they desisted.
But aboki never believed that, and alas they won!

So, people started copying that and today we are far into theft of billions of dollars.

Even as a child, I remember that in my home town, people used to leave their doors open even in the night. Today they build high fences complete with barbed wires on top of the walls.

Well, the rest is history! cry
