PoliticsRe: Tinubu Demands Release Of Acn Candidate In Akwa Ibom by Onlytruth(m): 8:39pm On Mar 28, 2011

It is pretty true, I think. Then again, I don't know how well the few Ibibio I've talked politics with in RL reflects mainstream thought. Who knows, maybe they told me what they thought I wanted to hear.
Strategically, his move was sound. . . for somewhat obvious reasons.
Agreed; both North and Igbos are too keen on subjugating their neighbors into a nebulous "North" or a nebulous "East." If only they were more like the Yoruba, who learned from the sins they committed in the 1950s and have since repented.
And how does an alliance between GEJ and Igbos preclude the people of Akwa Ibom to make their own independent decisions?
Frankly I don't really care about what ACN is doing in any part of Nigeria, provided they don't bring a "rascal" style of politics with them. There has now being a "war" in Akwa Ibom, and an ACN person caught with elections materials and register in Anambra state.
So, you see why folks in the East are apprehensive about your style of politics. undecided

Learn to live with it, the fact remains that GEJ or anyone from the Eastern minority groups does not stand a chance in Nigerian national politics without us all in the East acting together.
Igbo can even go it alone provided we get support from other majority groups -which is very possible if we REALLY demand it. So, like I said before, their (eastern minority) plights have been because they listened to your type and northerners who deceive them.

Nuff said.  cool

The Yoruba NEVER voted for anyone than themselves since Nigeria began. Supporting GEJ would have you shed that evil image of unrepentant tribalists. It is your call though.

Heh.

Funny thing is that these days, the vast majority of voices that shout "East" is Igbos. Very rarely will you hear an Ibibio or Efik demonstrate any interest. Largely moved on to other things.

Anyway, we shall see how the people of Akwa Ibom decide over the next few weeks.
Here you go again with their shameless deceit. undecided

I think that what is funnier is how suddenly Buhari is now hot cake in Yoruba land after picking Bakare as his houseboy V.P.

Who shouts "North" more if not the Hausa/Fulani? Where are the Kanuri and Nupe? Why are northern candidates Fulani or Hausa?

Does GEJ stand a chance in this election if not for the support he gets from Igbos?

Alj harem, just to add:

No one should try to dominate they neighbouring ethnic groups.

The West has been divided too. since 1963, into west and MW
The north now has NE AND NC.

No one should join geopolitical zones if they do not want wahala.
The west was divided FIRST before any other region in Nigeria; I wonder whether it was because Yoruba never allowed the western minorities to lead the western region even for a day. undecided

As for the Northern region, well they have NW, NE and NC, but they are still operating as NORTH hence the talk of single Northern candidate in the coming elections.

The East never really had much reason to balkanize, though I welcome current arrangement which allows everybody in the East to really see Nigeria as it is, and make informed decision whether to go it alone or team up with his neighbor.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Demands Release Of Acn Candidate In Akwa Ibom by Onlytruth(m): 7:42pm On Mar 28, 2011
So, in my book, whether GEJ wins or loses, we have crossed a line, and a new era is beginning in the East. FACT. cool

@Ezeuche,

On a day like this, you make me proud. Thanks! cool

Keep stating the facts and don't ever bite their poisoned baits. Believe me, they are scared to the bone that the East is actually reuniting.  cool

We don't have a choice than to reunite and demand our stakes in the Nigerian nation.

The same people accusing us here have NEVER allowed a minority to lead them. NEVER. Just check Nigerian history.

Today they are here accusing us of trying to dominate our neighbors, when we are actually supporting them to claim their stake in the Nigerian nation.

This is the finest moment in Eastern Nigerian history.  cool

I literally follow their post on NL. Those two are very wise. I just wish they could impact some wisdom on their brothers!

You talk about tribalism but you contradict yourself by exhibiting tribalismhuh

Anyway, Onlytruth knows I hit the nail on the head. They guy is like a Nazi. We all know I hit the nail on the head,  so stop the pretense. I have gone through several internet forum, its the same "Eastern" sentiment, the same "Baifra -ijaw break away sentiment" mentioned everytime people talk abot GEJ. I know it is some Igbos that are now pretending to be from Ijaw. Na wa ooo
Dude, you are really dumb you know. undecided

In your earlier post, you scoffed at the thought of me sacrificing for Nigeria and wanting Nigeria to stay one. You clearly didn't think I meant it. I am not on a popularity contest as you may already know. Some of the people you talk about don't even think that Nigeria can work. For them, Nigeria ceased to exist in 1967. End of it.

I understand them and have deep respect for them. In fact I think they could be correct. But I am young and still exploring the possibility that Nigeria may work. cool That is why I take most of my positions. I'm probing and testing out my faith in the "feasibility" of the country. Most of you shout one Nigeria, but refuse to sacrifice for it. Quite incongruous, and st00pid.  cry

It is disingenuous of you to qualify me as a Nazi when my region produced a minority Premier before the war, while yours didn't.
My tribe, and myself are NOW supporting a minority candidate, while yours is busy conniving with a majority group to snatch the presidency from this hapless minority. So, when you want to see a Nazi, look in the mirror.  sad undecided

PoliticsRe: Step Down: Ribadu, Shekarau Under Pressure To Quit For Buhari –kaita, Ex-katsina by Onlytruth(m): 7:54am On Mar 28, 2011
The north introduced the politics of "consensus candidate" and "step down" in Nigeria. That is their Modus op.
Don't be baffled. It will happen again.
PoliticsRe: Why Buhari Over Ribadu? by Onlytruth(m): 7:50am On Mar 28, 2011
Let me burst y'all bubbles.
There is no way PDP will let this go for run off. The key is the first vote, and Buhari cannot get 25% in 27 states in Nigeria because it means that a SE or SS state gave him that.
Frankly I don't see it happening.

If he cannot win outright the first time, he cannot win. Period. cool

Exactly YarAdua Gave Edwin Clark and other elders in the regions all they needed for a remedy to the Niger Delta problem, but what happened things have just gotten worst.
Oh by the way why your brother Gej has not been able to bring the authors of the Nigeria at 50 bombings to the books?
Do you recall in 1999 when Obasanjo was opposing (though not by force) the imposition of Sharia by northern states?
Do you recall the type of uprising that greeted him then?
The north did everything possible to derail the civilian government, but Obasanjo refused to bite. He knew the game too well. They wanted him to act so that they would oust him in a coup. He laid low until he had completed the reorganisation of the armed forces.
The same thing is being played out by those opposed to Jonathan's continuation in office. Luckily for him, Obasanjo is advising him too. So, he refused to bite!

You guys create traps to use against your victims.

onlytruth i do not like the way this discussion with u is going

you are slowlly turning it to North and South sentiment which is not good

what section are u talking about

miltray government or democratic goverment?
Believe me, I speak for a lot of folks who are confused about Nigeria.

Nigeria is a conundrum because simple things are made complex by folks unnecessarily.

This is not about North and South. This is really about majority and minority.

I am happy, that minority from Eastern Nigeria can see, that they don't really stand a chance in the open warfare of Nigerian politics.
And I am also happy, that my people -the Igbo-  supported the minority in his hour of need.

Let nobody tell them otherwise tomorrow.

For the record, I believe that Buhari is part of why Nigeria is backwards today. He helped shape the Nigeria of today by his actions as a military dictator in 1984. He has no business soliciting my vote today. History has already judged his type.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Unite Nigeria by Onlytruth(m): 2:04am On Mar 28, 2011
My point is that this election goes FAR beyond competence. It strikes at the base of our unity. Most folks here still don't see it.

Let's assume that Jonathan and Buhari are supported by their various sections of Nigeria; but Buhari has ruled before, and his section has ruled Nigeria for 38 years or so; why should Nigeria ignore someone from an area that never ruled before, and MAY NEVER rule again if he loses?

These questions are for those with brains, not oafs.  cool
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Unite Nigeria by Onlytruth(m): 1:59am On Mar 28, 2011
Again, if Bayelsa is in North West, can someone swear that we would be having this same conversation.

A dying Yar adua was busy plotting his second term in office, while folks were openly stating that there was no vacancy in Aso rock! LOL.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Unite Nigeria by Onlytruth(m): 1:56am On Mar 28, 2011
The Igbo say that "a man with scrotal elephantiasis can only deceive foreigners by covering his deformity with long wrappers, all kinsmen are not so deceived".

If Bayelsa state supports Jonathan MASSIVELY (90%+), why can't I from Anambra state, if we are truly one country?
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Unite Nigeria by Onlytruth(m): 1:51am On Mar 28, 2011
I would only back down, if I see GEJ approval in Bayelsa at less than 50%.

Only then would I accept defeat in this debate. cool
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Unite Nigeria by Onlytruth(m): 1:49am On Mar 28, 2011
I see folks giving all kinds of lame excuse just to find a pretext not to vote GEJ.

My question is this: If Bayelsa state is prepared to vote for GEJ massively, why can't other non-Ijaw states do same for him, since we are all Nigerians? If Bayelsa is in North west, would we even be having this conversation?

When you answer these questions, you will come face to face with the truth.

In either way GEJ is a victim of been PDP member, in the past twelve years pdp have not offer anything good to Nigerians, now is a time Nigerians are looking for better hand that has more relevance unlike PDP, I bet you if GEJ will quit PDP things would have been another way. No matter how Good is GEJ as long as he is under thAt umblela i pity him,  oh you didnt see Fashola he shun the umblela while its raining. Nobody is polarizing choosing of Buhari within the content of ethnicity and bigotry. BB ticket is most will happen if we are to reach our dreamland, P D P is failure, shike nan
I see your points, and they are very valid!
However, I'm thinking about Nigeria as a whole unit.

If GEJ get's less than 90% of the votes in Bayelsa state; then I would start seeing the points of those who want to hang him because he is in PDP. Nigeria is much more than PDP. As some of you know, I am a sworn APGA man, but I'm thinking about Nigeria, so APGA has to wait.

Can you Northerners do the same for Nigeria? That is my question.  cool

Yeah before Jonathan came to the helm of power YarAdua was making good progress with MEND and all Militants. But you can see now how backward we are with your GEJ in 11 months, only God knows how far back we will be if he wins Godforid.
What do you mean by that Yar adua was making progress. Did they (MEND) abandon "resource control"?

@Alj Uche

What did your brother Yar adua achieve in 3 years?
What did Shehu Shagari achieve in almost 5 years?

You think we don't remember these.

Jonathan is not even the president now, he is only serving out Yar adua's term, and inherited a lot of mess.
He has been reshaping policy and actually did some work.

Obasanjo was complaining that 8 years wasn't enough for him.  shocked

You guys should speak the truth for once.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Unite Nigeria by Onlytruth(m): 1:24am On Mar 28, 2011
I am only looking at it from Ijaw (and to some extent Eastern) perspective.
If a sitting president loses an election because he is from Ijawland, what I am still doing in such country.

For me as an Igbo man, we say that " a slave that witnesses the unceremonious burial of his fellow slave, should be advised that the same fate awaits him". cool That's all.

Yes, he will work out a comprehensive plan with them to put the arms down. If they refuse then civilians and their wealth will be secure and preserve by the Nigerian Army, Airforce, and Navy
My friend you missed the gist of the question: Is Buhari skilled enough to handle MEND?
Garrison thinking will only internationalize that problem. I know you northerners don't get it yet.

Your Army, Airforce and Navy is archaic compared to the ones that would actually resolve the problem.  cool cool cool

Onlytruth, before jonathan i had supported an igbo president

i really do not care if he is north or south, so long as he does well for the country whether south or north.

I was part of the people that was telling people in my home state to not answer Ciroma because he sounded like a bigot

I clearly understand that the world of nigeria does not revolve around the north.

But jonathan has been there for 11 months now and yet is promises

he dines with IBB , Ciroma ,OBJ and others while people like duke, and other progressives are there

if the east produces a good candidate like ameche, why not !

i believe in Nigeria and i do not see north or south but nigeria

i travel a lot infact i am in port harcount right now. soon i would be going to lagos

so it was never about the north or east but about nigeria
What do you expect a Nigerian president to achieve in 11 months? Frankly!  shocked shocked
Look, most of you northerners are fond of saying that you love Nigeria, but you refuse to make the necessary sacrifice to see the country stay one.
You have only been out of presidency for a few years, and you are threatening fire and brimestone and conducting endless meetings and conspiring against a man from a minority tribe in Eastern Nigeria whose only "crime" is to want to serve his country as president. And you don't see how his people feel about that?

Believe me, a lot of folks supporting Buhari are those want want Nigeria to break up -some do it knowingly, while some do it unknowingly.

Can you help me understand why Nigeria's unity is threatened simply because the north has not tested presidency for a few years out of the 50 years of Nigeria's independence?

Actually, I believe that each state should go for its own political interests, but there is a difference between pushing your interest and undermining the interest of your own geopolitical zone. When that happens, then there is a fundamental problem that needs to be solved.

So, in my book, any state that undermines the political interest of its own geopolitical zone should be excised from that zone.
