PoliticsRe: Mend Plans To Attack Lagos And Abuja by Onlytruth(m): 9:28am On Mar 16, 2011
Posted by: Beaf
I remember when I first moved to Lagos as a teenager. It was a culture shock, it was almost impossible to witness people screaming so loud about what they would do, how they will kill and injure other people. . . Only for them to belt off at top speed into the distance at the slightest trouble.

There is one guy I particularly recall, it was in the building materials market. The man had a problem with some people and was raising hell to high heavens, the others kept telling him they would call the police, but this dude ranted even louder about how he would dismantle the police and so on. All this time, he was jumping and gesticulating like Jack the Ripper. . .
To cut long matters short, someone indeed brought a lean, ill-dressed, hungry looking corporal. . . You should have seen the way this man reacted at the sight of the police like lightening had struck him, then he proceeded to bolt faster than Usain Bolt, all under the tables and benches in the market, with eyes bulging in complete terror!

I felt like spitting on him for his cowardice, how can a man run, and underneath tables for that matter? But I soon got used to it. Thats Lagos for you, everyone scrambling for a buck, all mouth and no balls.

We pray that there should be no attack on Lagos, but if it happens, there will be all sorts of loud noises and nothing else. We're Lagosians, we know.
Hahaha! grin grin Typical. cool

Meanwhile . . . . MEND is coming, run run run. . . to Seme! grin

We need to question who is behind these background moves to collapse the Northern candidates into one.

If such characters are the same old corrupt oligarchs, then any Northern consensus candidate (Buhari) will be compromised and will be no better than the PDP option.

He can do more than grant interviews. He should organize 100 people, go to Eagle square and start camping there for ever. He would be shocked by how many people would joined up. Problem with Nigeria is our so called moral leaders are not courageous enough to step out of their comfort zones. He means well but I don't know whether he realizes the implication of his statement. If he did, he would be camping out there by now instead of wasting his saliva.

PoliticsRe: Dangote Vs Ibeto, Who Is Actually Richer ? by Onlytruth(m): 7:15am On Mar 13, 2011
Posted by: DRlulu
the op have a point, i cant say ibeto is richer than dangote considering the number of years he was laid off by obasanjo to give dangote monopoly,

IN SHORT THE FALL OF IBETO LED TO THE RISE OF DANGOTE , before dangote ,ibeto owned cement buisness in nigeria.
,
ibeto is among the 5 richest nigerians. rich men from east of the niger believe too much fame leads to envy especially from top govt officials who want to reap where they did not sow, so they prefer to lay low.
Obasanjo gave practical demonstration to your observation above. It all started since after the war.

Sir LP Ojukwu was a millionaire in OLD pound sterling and never hid that fact. In fact he show it always.

Today, rich Igbo men hide for fear of oppression. It won't stay that way for long though.

Adi ekpu afo ime aka! cool (you can't hide pregnancy for ever).

I think the answer is obvious. That is why Buhari and Ribadu picked from there. The East is locked up behind GEJ. Simple.

PoliticsRe: Bb Rally In Port Harcourt. Any Update? by Onlytruth(m): 12:28am On Mar 06, 2011
I also looked closely to what informed your assumptions and found it laughable. You were using the 2003 elections which was massively rigged in favor of Obasanjo. shocked shocked

If you believe that Obasanjo is more popular than Ojukwu in Igboland, then you really need to stop lying to yourself. undecided

while most GEJ supporters are giving him arm chair support, some of us in the Buhari Camp have built excel models looking at the current situation (Nigerian economy, politics, infrastructure after 12 years of pdp), sentiments (pro-zoning in the North) to project what will happen in 2011 elections using the 2003 elections as bench mark, at least more credible than 2007 elections which 3 out of 7 supreme court judges ruled Buhari won!

see the attachment
the result shows there will be no clear winner!
I took a look at your excel model and was impressed with the presentation. However, you are wrong about your assumptions for SE.undecided

There is no way Buhari gets more than 5% in the SE. Ribadu will not get more than 2% in SE too (supported mainly by few educated idealists in Igboland). I say that GEJ will get at least 85% in SE. cool Just watch.

Regarding Igbo graduates
You are wherever you are faulting my points. That's wrong. I am on ground, I meet people for business physically or online almost daily so I have a basis for all what I posted earlier. What brought up this issue initially was the claim by the Igbos that they contributed significantly to the economy of Lagos. Some even went as far as putting their contribution at 80%. I then set out to prove them wrong based on facts.
1.Almost all illiterate/half-educated Igbos in Lagos are into trade such as selling spare parts, electrical and electronic gadgets, foodstuff, tokunbo cars and what have you. These things I insists do not contribute significantly to the economy of Lagos state.
2. Most Igbo graduates will never and I repeat never abandon their certificates to pursue a business or register a company. They look down on those doing business. Educated Igbos are die hard civil servants and salary earners. Pre 1966, Igbos dominated the civil service. The unitary system of govt would have favoured them all the more by allowing more Igbos to be transferred to other parts of the country to work in their civil service. The north saw this and resisted violently thereby setting Igbos back significantly.
3. Most of the Igbo men running successful companies today are not graduates. Coscharis, Ifeanyi Uba, C.N Okoli e.t.c are at best half-illiterates or part-time graduates. Part-time graduates are not recognized in Nigeria as they do not participate in NYSC. Adult education is almost non-existent. Even Orji Uzor Kalu became a graduate during his first term in office.
Which is what I told you before! BTW how many Nigerian millionaires are first time university graduates? Name them for me, starting with the richest Nigerian- Dangote.
You see why your argument does not make sense?

4.I agree that Igbos are business minded but its the uneducated ones and there are far more illiterate/half-educated Igbos in Lagos than educated ones.
5.And it is widely known that only 3 out of 10 Igbos that finish from secondary school proceed to the university. The rest will undergo 5 years of trade apprenticeship with a big Igbo businessman in any of the cities in preparation for a life as a businessman. Or will you refute that?!!!
Dude believe me, you are so wrong and way too wrong! undecided shocked

So if that is the case, how come the south east produces higher number of graduates than SW? As far as I know, only SS beats SE in number of graduates. JAMB has accurate record on JAMB exam participation in Nigeria. I suggest you check it out first before making outrageous claims. undecided

Dude what you don't understand is that SE is diverse. Some Igbo states/ clans are more business inclined than others.
Overall though, most Igbo graduates would start and run a company once they've raised enough money.

Does it even make sense to you that illiterate Igbos open businesses that get to become companies, but educated ones simply stick to civil service? In any case, sizable number of  educated Igbo leave Nigeria once they can't get jobs, and return to start companies.

You argument lacks logic. undecided
