If only they could have built it in Enugu to attract all those kidnappers from Igboland. Charity in this case must begin at home. N500 million is more than $3million. That is a lot of money. Igbo always develop their place of abode. That is why Nigeria will die a sudden death if Igboland secedes from Nigeria. |
ama-diva:Oh I know! The thing about fear though is that it is mainly based on illogical and unrealistic things. ![]() Let me explain quickly. What makes the Igbo a dominant force in Nigeria (and potentially the world), is the same thing that made the Igbo the first Nigerian tribe in this year's commonwealth games to win a gold medal. The Igbo was also the first Nigerian tribe to win an Olympic gold medal. That same spirit is why Enyimba football club became the only Nigeria team to ever win the African champions league cup, and they did so TWICE. No other Nigeria team has achieved that feat. That same spirit is why a novel written by Chinua Achebe in 1958 is still mesmerizing the world in 2010. I can go on. My point is that the Igbo spirit will dominate THE WORLD in one field or another, sooner or later. So if fear is the appropriate response by Nigerians and our neighbors to our achievements, then, you guys should be very very very fearful because we are not done yet. In fact we are only warming up! ![]() My least concern as a rampaging and hard working Igbo man is what my insecure neighbor thinks. ![]() If he cannot rise to the challenge of competing with me, well, tough luck. ![]() If Igbo continue with their ways, and I believe we will , then all these fears will happen. My question to you then is,What if it turns out not to be as bad as you feared? ![]() The sooner you guys start accepting us for what we are, the better for you, or get ready to fight us. Nonsense. ![]() |
bombay:I don't think there will ever be a north vs south war in Nigeria. Let's not get carried away. |
na_so:Nigerians don't even see that we may be headed for a civil war. If we can have a peaceful disintegration, I won't mind. ![]() My fear is that the situation is shaping up like 1966. In that year, Ironsi made a TERRIBLE MISTAKE. He failed to be a strong leader. He kept playing gentleman's games while the north was busy planning and issuing threats. The north don't make empty threats. Jonathan has started well by putting the command of the most strategic security positions in the hands of southerners. Good. ![]() That is really good. The bomb attack and the rancorous and unresolved issues of resource control and zoning are tearing at the seams of the nation. If no bold action is taken, we will have a war, or a coup. He should continue in his current path, but should accelerate action by restructuring the military more to deny the north any chance of a coup, basically to secure himself and his presidency. Then, the next step should be to declare marshal law and sack both chambers of congress. ![]() From there, he can call a national conference where issues like resource control and true federalism will be discussed and enshrined in a new constitution. Only after our new constitution kicks in should he hand over to whoever wins the next election. What we have now in Nigeria is a seriously rotten and dysfunctional state and system of government. Someone needs to clean it up and put Nigeria on a solid footing. Jonathan should rise to the occasion and do it, else someone will kick him out with a promise to do something similar, only that the person may not do it! So, time is of essence. These northerners will fight to keep their advantage in Nigeria, even if that advantage is unfair to other Nigerians. We need Jonathan to answer the call of history. |
It is our time to eat. ![]() |
Another ![]() SMH! Anyway, no be naija? |
^^ I'm laughing. ![]() Nigerian special forces look like MEND. ![]() When they enter the creeks, they will meet people who are similarly kitted, and armed with the same field rifle (AK-47). I wonder why Nigeria has not been able to design a field sub-machine gun for 40 years. Biafra was able to design one and used it during the war. Anytime I see Nigeria military parading AK-47s, I simply dismiss them. ![]() Until I see a Nigerian weapon designed for African operations -rain, mud, sand, dust, rust, and designed to function in support of our best instincts (as Africans, no pun intended), I will remain unimpressed. If they don't know that there is something known as "empathic design" even in weapons, then, we are still not serious. ![]() |

Aloy+Emeka:A democratic nation that is about to disintegrate. ![]() Have you ever heard the saying "no paddy for jungle?" Only a stable and unified nation can practice democracy. If he fails to act decisively, there may be no Nigeria before the end of next year. |
Aloy+Emeka:I mentioned marshal law because I cannot see how he gets resource control with the current national assembly. No southerner can get anything like resource control without restructuring Nigeria through marshal law. That is why he needs to be a strong leader. Nigeria has MAJOR issues threatening its very existence. Elections are not even supposed to happen while those issues are swept under the carpet. He needs to demonstrate the urgency of the situation and communicate that effectively to Nigerians and international community. The last thing we want in Nigeria is a war. |
Kobojunkie:I've read it. I still can't believe it. I don't see how they win from here. It is a strategic mistake. ![]() I hope nobody is playing a sinister game with MEND. |
I don't even think Jonathan's biggest headache is next year's elections. We have bigger issues to deal with. If I were him, I will declare marshal law and postpone the elections indefinitely until I get resource control or defeat MEND. It must be one or the other. |
Kobojunkie:I still hold on to my hypothesis because it still doesn't make sense. Unless of course I overestimated their intelligence; on that count, I stand corrected. ![]() |
What I see in this is further heating up of the polity and ratcheting up of tensions. Frankly, unless something is done fast, Nigeria is headed for a major conflict. I see all the signs. Jonathan is the president. He has one of two choices before him. Either be strong and get resource control by any means necessary, or he must crush the MEND. Going forward, his leadership will be called into question more. He is losing power as we speak. Nigeria is a nation of 150 million restless Africans, and soon someone will be tempted to upturn the apple cart. Nature abhors vacuums and if for a second Nigerians feel a vacuum at the top, Jonathan is gone. He must understand that there are no more middle roads. Nigeria is coming to a head and only a strong leader will continue from here. |
phreakabit:Just when you think Nigerians have exhausted their ingenious humor, they come up with another! lmao! ![]() |
The cat is really out of the bag. Nigeria will likely have a major restructuring or a civil war. I don't see any middle grounds. The guys I see in this video are ready for war. The question is, do Nigerians know that the country is about to start another war? The last thing Nigeria needs at this stage is a weak or indecisive president. This issue won't go away. Either Jonathan performs a magic and restructures Nigeria for resource control, or he must deal with the MEND threat once and for all. Postponing action will be tantamount to postponing the evil day. |

I think the amount is insulting. Those victims deserve at least 5 million naira each. If Government cannot give that amount, then, they should leave the victims alone. It's not like the government cares anyway. ![]() |
FIFA is becoming a god and I hate any god that is not the almighty God himself. ![]() The last time government wanted Nigeria to stay away from international games for 2 years, FIFA threatened a ban. Now, they have banned Nigeria for trying to enforce our criminal laws. So, since when did FIFA replace the government of Nigeria? ![]() If we don't act fast to reclaim our sovereignty, FIFA will start ruling Nigeria from Zurich. ![]() |
Katsumoto:Yes my response was a little bigoted, designed to aggravate the fears of the writer. ![]() And of course the writer was lying through his teeth when he lamented that Enugu international airport was approved because an Igbo person is the minister for Aviation. Is this the first Igbo aviation minister in Nigeria's history? Wasn't Kema Chikwe a recent aviation minister under Obasanjo? Did she convert the airport to international? This airport is being converted because Jonathan is president and he gave his approval. Period.Secondly, it is a cheap and laughable blackmail for the writer to suggest that this airport will spur other states into demanding their own airports, as if all of these cities have similar potential. Let me tell you, apart from Lagos, there is no other city in Nigeria that will surpass Enugu international airport when it reaches operational peak. I can say that because Igbos travel more than other Nigerians. All it needs is for Enugu state government to realize this fact and make the necessary investments to leverage the impact. The rest will take shape naturally. |
Ileke-IdI:You'll notice that my emphasis is on topography -hilly and undulating, as well as on urban design. Both can work together to achieve a set tourism goal. What is a better tourist attraction than a bubbling beautiful city on a hill? San Francisco is a tourist city partly because of that. Throw in things like international class hotels and golf courses (after you must have designed the business zone- industrial and commercial), then, sit back and watch! I hope you don't expect me to reveal my business plans to my competitors! ![]() |
Ileke-IdI: ![]() Bearing this international airport in mind, I see a city with great topography, hence great potential for tourism if designed properly. I also see a city with true potential to become a regional hub for businesses and industries. The other important attribute is that the city is dear to the hearts of easterners; there is almost an emotional attachment to the city. All it takes is for the government of Enugu state to invest in sound city planning bearing all those potentials in mind. The government doesn't even need to embark on more than basic infrastructural projects like construction and beautification of roads; private capital will do the rest. Just give us a good plan and first levels of infrastructure, and watch as the city explodes. |
