Dede1:Dede, you did not disappoint. Thanks! ![]() Frankly I'm baffled by the level of anti-north from certain corners of Nigeria these days. These same sections carried out far more anti-Igbo actions than the north urged during the war. I'm not a northern fan for obvious reasons, but I will not be caught in the same camp with these guys soon. You can take that to the bank. ![]() I have been urging that Jonathan demonstrate that he wants to change Nigeria, not just going there to be president while things stay the same. I am yet to see those bold actions from him. All he wants so far is to be president. No more. I will join their camp only after they and Jonathan have crossed the rubicon. I don't think that has happened yet. All I see is a stratagem to steal Igbo political fortunes in Nigeria. I am not deceived one bit. So, let this show of hate translate into concrete actions. Talk is always cheap, and I know who talks most in Nigeria, only to go behind to strike deals when real war starts. ![]() |
@ Andre Uweh I'm impressed at your knowledge of Igboland. ![]() I'm jealous. |
Your father Obasanjo should account for all the Nigerians that died under his watch, from politicians to ordinary folks. He should also account for his sudden riches. |
seanet02:Zero IQ. ![]() |
Obasanjo is a pure coward. ![]() And he is desperate now. I wonder why. He is also treacherous because if not for IBB he probably would have died in jail after Abdulsalami Abubakar (an IBB protege) took over in 1998. If not for IBB he would NEVER have become Nigeria's president in 1999. ![]() Knowing fully well that he Obasanjo committed more crimes while in office (he killed more Nigerians in Odi, Zaki Ibiam and MASSOB people in the east) than IBB, how did he reach his conclusions? Where does he find the morals to blame IBB for anything he did worse? ![]() IBB is no saint, but at least he can handle the truth. That is why he worked to ensure that a Yoruba emerged president in 1999 to compensate for the mistake of Abiola's electoral misfortune. You can argue that he foisted a trusted ally -Obasanjo- but he didn't have to foist any Yoruba at all. That is a demonstration of courage because Obasanjo is betraying him as we speak! I'm sure he must have feared this, but he soldiered on to do the right thing. Obasanjo is only desperate to have someone who would protect him in office. What has Obasanjo ever done in Nigeria that he did not personally gain from? ![]() I feel insulted by Obasanjo's sanctimonious rant. ![]() If Nigerians had any brains at all, they would ban Obasanjo from making public speeches of this nature. Let him first surrender the 200 million shares of Transcorp. ![]() Nonsense. |
Abu-Maryam:If our votes are counted, PDP will lose. |
Ileke-IdI:I don't change. ![]() I still would defend you when attacked unnecessarily by morons on this site. So, help me by staying away from curses. It is unladylike |
Ileke-IdI: ![]() I didn't know you can still curse profusely. I thought you left that behind with FLgators. ![]() |
supereagle: hinduism:Eagles should not toy with cages. ![]() |
I have two questions. How did we get to this stage? Is Nigeria ready for war or disintegration? Anyone dodging either of these questions is delusional. This thing is only getting worse. ![]() |
BOMB BLASTS: Northern politicians move for Jonathan’s impeachment •Consult Senators, Reps Written by Taiwo Adisa, Leon Usigbe and Chris Agbambu, Abuja Friday, 08 October 2010 SOME Northern political leaders, under the aegis of the Northern Political Leaders’ Forum (NPLF), have commenced consultations with members of the National Assembly on the possibility of impeaching President Goodluck Jonathan, sources have said. The G-15, led by Alhaji Adamu Ciroma, had, on Tuesday, issued a statement asking President Jonathan to resign over the bomb blasts that rocked Abuja on October 1. Sources in the National Assembly told the Nigerian Tribune that some politicians had started reaching out to senators who resumed plenary session last week. A source also said that members of the NPLF had started reaching out to members of the House of Representatives who are due to resume on Tuesday. It was confirmed that based on initial contacts with members of the Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF), some of the senators made an attempt to hold a meeting of the Forum on Thursday. A source, however, said that some pro-Jonathan senators pleaded that the meeting should be held next week to allow for more consultations. Senators, who were initially opposed to the idea of raising impeachment issues as a result of the bomb blasts, were said to have been divided during the week following other issues that were said to have cropped up. It was gathered that some senators became angry during the week following the delay by the Ministry of Finance to release the last quarterly allocations of the National Assembly. Sources said that though the consultations between members of the NSF and the Northern Political Forum were exploratory, the lawmakers were ready to listen to the proposals. The main argument, according to sources, was to hang the charge of inadequate security on the government of President Jonathan. A source said that one of the allegations against the president was also the widespread bomb alarm being raised in Abuja during the week. “The charge is to ensure that the question of instability is highlighted. They are trying to ensure that the government is portrayed as being incapable of securing the people and if that is the case, it becomes a serious national issue. A charge of impeachment can then be hanged on such a plank,” a source said. It was gathered that while some senators who are working with the camps of General Ibrahim Babangida and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar were disposed to exploring the impeachment option, some of the senators, who championed the Doctrine of Necessity in February, were of the view that the argument against Jonathan was being taken too far. The President of the Senate, Mr David Mark, had on Wednesday cautioned some Northern statesmen to stop politicising the bomb blasts issue. Mark said it was distressing to listen to comments by some respected Nigerians on the bomb blasts saga. Meanwhile, the Director-General (DG) of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, Dr Dalhatu Tafida, has accused members of the Mallam Adamu Ciroma-led NPLF of wanting to wrest power by force. Speaking at a press conference at the campaign headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, he said their action was not based on the president’s wrongdoing but their desire to return to government at all costs. Senator Tafida, who said that President Jonathan did not absolve the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) of blame over the bombings as claimed by the elders, but suggested that the group was not solely responsible, added that “what is happening now is not because President Jonathan has done something wrong but it is because people want to wrest power at all costs.” While reminding them that they could only take over power through the ballot box and not by engaging in provocative statements or introducing sectional and religious dimensions, Dr Tafida also noted that the nation had passed the stage where a few people would sit in one place and decide who should rule the country. He observed that those who planted the Independence Day bombs had no reason to cut short the joy of the golden jubilee, noting that innocent lives had been taken but instead of commiserating with the families of the deceased, the northern elders were trying to use the incident for political gains. According to him, “instead of some of the elders who are vicariously responsible for the frustration of many of our youths to be sober, they are desperately trying to milk this national tragedy for political gains. “While the security agencies are busy trying to unearth the details of the national tragedy, the provocative comments of some of our yesteryear men, laced with demeaning ethnic chauvinism, suggest that they do not mind if Nigeria explodes if they don’t acquire (power) at all costs in the 2011 primaries and the general election,” he said. Dr Tafida declared that in spite of their antics, President Jonathan would not lose focus but was on track as “no amount of blackmail, will stop the president from moving forward.” The campaign DG stated that the time to play politics had not yet come but added that the Jonathan/Sambo camp would want President Jonathan to win when the time comes, saying that, if however, his opponents won, “we will follow them.” He added: “A presidential election is not a game of life and death. I, therefore, enjoin all members of the PDP in the race to remember that there is politics after presidential election. Let us be careful. Whatever religion you belong, let us remember that it is the Almighty God and He alone who gives power to whom He likes and takes away power from whom He wishes.” Dr Tafida also recalled the good work done by the founding fathers, whom he said strove selflessly to provide a good foundation for the country which he also noted had been destroyed by the military which struggled with themselves for succession. He said: “Many suffered in the course of the struggle without looking for any personal reward. Many died so that we, their children, could have a good life. “They built roads; they provided hospitals; they set up universities that competed with the best anywhere in the world. This was the Nigeria they handed over to us. “But what do we have now? Regrettably, most regrettably, almost everything they worked for, they laboured for, for which they kicked out the British colonialists, have been compromised. Much of the compromise and decline occurred during the period of the military rule when people had no say in the choice and conduct of governance. “As a result of consistent struggle for democracy, Nigeria has achieved democratic governance at last. We should, therefore, sustain these gains and jealously guard them,” he stressed. Meanwhile, the Ndigbo Unity Front, in Abuja, on Thursday, categorised as “utterly irresponsible,” the seven-day ultimatum issued to Jonathan by Mallam Adamu Ciroma and his Northern Leaders Political Forum to resign from office or face impeachment. Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the national president of the front, Pastor George Onwuka, said “the call for Jonathan’s resignation or impeachment is utterly irresponsible. People who have nothing to offer anything good for Nigeria should not resort to petty issues that have no bearing with what is at stake and, by so doing, jeopardise our cohesion as a united people. “We should not be colouring purely security issues with politics. We should return to politics of issues rather than engaging in arm-twisting diversionary tactics. This is the only way forward.” They added that “as responsible and patriotic Nigerians, we cannot but express our disappointment at the subjugation of morality, civility and pragmatism displayed by Ciroma and his group. What is the basis for apprehension of insecurity in the North as a result of Mr Henry Okah’s ridiculous claims over the Golden Jubilee celebration bomb blasts in Abuja?” The front added that “if simple logic prevails, what will it profit the president to indict northern politicians through killing innocent citizens or putting the lives of 14 world leaders at risk? This is even beside the risk to the lives of his immediate family, loved ones and innocent Nigerians that came to celebrate with him. When the US 9/11 bombings, which claimed over 4,000 lives occurred, the citizens neither called for the resignation nor the impeachment of their president. “It is, indeed, sad that Mallam Ciroma and his co- harbingers of doom are already dancing naked in the market square, when investigations by relevant security agencies are yet to be concluded on an issue as grave as terrorism, instead of discarding political and sectional interests and sympathise with the president, the families of the victims, and the generality of Nigerians over a national calamity. “Where has Mallam Ciroma been since Plateau State had been turned into a slaughter slab by religious and tribal extremists? Where was he during the Boko Haram onslaught that dispatched over a thousand innocent law-abiding citizens to their untimely graves in Borno, Bauchi and other parts of the North? Why did he not call for the resignation or impeachment of governors of the affected states on grounds of growing insecurity in his region? “Or was the Abuja bomb blasts and impeachment threat pre-arranged as a prelude to an already-mapped out sinister plot? Ciroma should note that the victims of the Independence day anniversary bomb explosions cut across diverse ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. He should strive to explore peaceful and acceptable democratic means in pursuit of political goals. Resorting to crude and uncivilised antics capable of creating national disharmony would do no one any good. “Ironically, Ciroma and his co-travellers in the Northern Political Leaders Forum have not thought it wise to reflect, in their sober moments, on how they squandered a golden opportunity to lift up the standard of living of the large number of unfortunate Talakawas in the Northern Region while they held sway in positions of authority for over three decades during which they were only interested in massaging their egos and the welfare of their wives, relations, children and cronies. “What can Ciroma boast of in terms of education, health and other basic necessities of life he provided for his people? “Yet, he takes pride and joy in thwarting the progressive aspirations of the young northern Turks such as Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, and others who, in a bid to take their destinies into their own hands by disengaging from the old brigade, have become politically endangered species. “Ciroma should realise that we, in the South-East zone of the country, have suffered marginalisation in all ramifications since Independence, yet, we’ve never allowed ethnic sentiments to dissolve our sense of morality. What is paramount to us is national integration and national stability,” the front stressed. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/11885-bomb-blasts-northern-politicians-move-for-jonathans-impeachment-consult-senators-reps-northern-elders-want-to-seize-power-jonathans-campaign-organisation-dg |
What is wrong with Nigerian police men these days? ![]() Have they joined kidnappers to torment us in our land? Somebody should bring this he-goat to justice. What is happening in Abia state anyway? ![]() This man must never go free. ![]() |
The Divisional Police Officer of a police station in Aba, Abia State (names withheld), has allegedly despoiled a lady to death inside his office. The lady whose name was given as Princess Zainab Chinasa Uwakwe, and said to be very close to a serving senior police officer from Abia State, was said to have approached the DPO on telephone over a matter her relation had at a police station. But the DPO invited her over for a supposed discussion on the matter. In honouring the invitation, Daily Sun learnt that Princess, who hailed from Amakpor Igbere in Bende Local Government of the state, went to the police station in company with a young man, Nkem Igbokwe, who waited outside while the lady went in to see her supposed host. A reliable source hinted that as soon as the lady who was said to be an aspirant under the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) for Aba North state constituency, entered the DPO’s office, she was offered suya and a bottle of drink bought for her by the police officer. The police officer was alleged to have locked the door behind them, preventing his subordinates and visitors from having access to the office. But the cat was let out of the bag when, after the sex, the lady started gasping for breath while blood gushed from her private part. It was reported that immediately that happened, the DPO called in a patrol team led by one inspector to rush her to the hospital. On getting to the hospital, according to the report, the victim, who the police fictitiously gave her name as Princess Nnenne Udah to the hospital authorities, gave up the ghost. It was gathered that while the young man who accompanied the lady to the police station was still waiting outside, the police patrol team, carried the lady out of the DPO’s office through the back gate to New Era Hospital. Investigations, which suggest the DPO might have drugged either the suya or the drink he gave the deceased to make her dose off in order to have illicit affairs with her emerged when it was gathered the lady had severally rebuffed overtures of the police officer. This indication was given by the younger sister of the deceased, Nkechi, who told Daily Sun that “my sister was despoiled; her neck and lips were swollen; it was like she was battling with the DPO inside his office. She was discharging foam from her mouth and blood was gushing from her private part. In fact, she was brought to the hospital without her bra and underwear,” she said amidst sobs. It was the talk in the police station that the officer might have taken burantashi, a local substance that enhances and energizes male organs, before despoiling his victim. When Daily Sun visited the police station, some officers were seen in groups discussing the incident. One of them who spoke under the cover of anonymity said, “the DPO has been a source of embarrassment to us. He has been sexually harassing our female officers here and nobody questions him because he boasts he is well connected within the state and outside.” Efforts made to reach the DPO who was said to be unruffled over the incident as he was in office yesterday failed, as he neither picked calls made to his cell phone nor replied text messages. When contacted, the Area Commander, Nigeria Police, Aba Area Command, Mr. Ebere Onyeagoro said he had heard about the incident, but was yet to be briefed officially. He, however, said the cause of the lady’s death could only be determined through autopsy, which, he said, the police were yet to carry out. Some people who spoke to Daily Sun over the incident said it was unfortunate that while residents of Aba were yet to come out of the despoil sin assemblies their women experienced in the hands of kidnappers, a police officer of the standing of a DPO would add to the list. They called for probe. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/features/newsonthehour/2010/oct/08/newsbreak-08-10-2010-001.htm |
MetalGong4:Am I to conclude that Igbo fortunes are not safe in the hands of our Imo brothers in this case. I'm taking a very close look at this angle. Is there a powerful Jonathan supporter in Anambra state? Are there powerful Imo politicians that are anti-Jonathan? Do I see a pattern here? |
Must every evil find its way to Nigeria ![]() Who knows what else happens under our highly secretive culture. ![]() Somebody should drive a single broomstick into this monsters d!kc and break it! ![]() |
wesley80:No my friend, I suggest YOU read MY response again. ![]() Did you even read it? ![]() Didn't you read where I said that we are back to the days of Baba Iyabo? ![]() If you didn't understand me (obviously you didn't), I meant that Ohakim has nothing to loose (without Jonathan breathing down his neck of course ). If such federal pressure wasn't on him, he has nothing to loose by hosting the meeting. In fact he might even gain, because those men are the timber and caliber politicians of the south east. They could help him. My point is that Ohakim did not order the SSS to stop the meeting. Last time I checked, SSS is under Jonathan, not Ohakim. ![]() |
Did anyone read this response? The only officer who agreed to speak on record, Mr. Henry Ekpe, the Chief Press Secretary, told our reporter on phone from Abuja where he and his principal were at the time the event was unfolding, that the “order from above” did not emanate from Ohakim.Frankly, this has come out clearer than before. People at the presidency wanted to stop this meeting. The evidence is clear. Ohakim gains or looses nothing by allowing this meeting. So the question is this, who has the most to loose if the meeting went ahead? The answer is Jonathan. End of story. I know that folks are quick to exonerate Jonathan, I follow facts. Why should Ohakim loose his chance of re-election if he supports the meeting? Are we not back to the days of Baba Iyabo? ![]() I'm truly disappointed in Jonathan because I don't know why he should suddenly develop guts to meddle in Igbo meetings when he didn't do so in other geopolitical zones. |
There is scarcity of good men in politics of south west these days. I think that Lam Adesina is one of those few men. The man wants to be on record so as to be vindicated by history. I wouldn't insult him. |
I think that Lam Adesina is a more credible character in Oyo state than Alao Akala. He is not PDP, yet he says this. |
Ileke-IdI:I'm not worried, just puzzled. You know me. I seek truth fiercely. Never knew that any woman enjoyed snoring and potbelly. Now, you know I don't buy that. ![]() |

I’ll canvass for the North—Lam Adesina, ex-Oyo gov , Says: Akala is worst governor ever By FEMI ADEOTI Thursday, October 07, 2010 Former governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina, says he stands by the principle of zoning because it will allow “every other part of the country to taste power. That is why I believe that the North should bring the presidential candidate” in 2011. I am going to canvass my position in my state here and that is where I stand.” Adesina also asserted that Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala is worst ever to have ruled Oyo State. He spoke more on these and other issues in an interview with Daily Sun, at his Felele, Ibadan, residence. Excerpts: Jonathan, zoning and 2011 elections I like people to respect justice and fair play. The first time and may be the last time where all the political parties in the country will nominate their presidential candidate from one tribe in this country was in the 1999 elections. The country submitted itself to us (Yoruba) because they knew that we suffered for democracy. Someone won an election free and fair they never allowed him, instead, they detained him. All the parties let them present Yoruba candidates, that was what happened in 1999. Even if they did not sit down and say zone it to Yorubaland. It was implied. I am always afraid of some people in this country. Today, they will say one thing, tomorrow they will say another thing. Many of them do not believe that there is somebody called God, who created all of us. If we like it or not, it is certain that we are going back to Him one day. Why not stand by the truth? The elections were conducted and Obasanjo was a beneficiary. The same Obasanjo is now saying that there is no zoning. If that person has the fear of God then why should that there is no zoning when you are a beneficiary of the same zoning?. You enjoyed the zoning programme, you didn’t fight for it, you were in prison. Those of us who fought for it, some of us were killed. You just enjoyed it and then you are supporting that there should be no zoning. Why not fear God? Yar’Adua came on aboard and became president, then by nature, Yar’Adua died. So does that means that zoning has died? It has not died! Zoning should remain because that will make every part of the country to participate in government. It is a good principle. We have to be truthful both to ourselves and to God. If Yar’Adua were alive and he wanted to go for second term, is there anybody that can prevent him from going for another term? Nobody! And that is the ticket of the North. Obasanjo was not there in 1998, because he was in jail. He didn’t know how the fight was going on, he didn’t know how the principle came that only the Yoruba should provide presidential candidates. Why is he now saying there is no zoning? Did they adjust the principle? I believe in that principle of zoning not only for them in the country but for every other part of the country to taste power. When you are saying there is no zoning how do you expect us to get the good people from the North? That is why I believe that the North should bring the presidential candidate. That is where I stand. I am going to canvass my position in my state here and that is where I stand. If Jonathan wants o contest, good luck to him, after all his name is Goodluck. Maybe he is taking his luck too far, I warned him when he became president. After he was installed as president I told him, finish your term and do not let anybody tell you to contest for presidency. I am not a prophet but I am a political sayer, I have been in this game since when I was in the university, First Republic. I know what is going to happen. It is not going to augur well for this country if Jonathan contests for the presidency. Just like Jesus said unto the Pharisees, Give unto Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser and give to God what belongs to God. It is not too late for Jonathan to heed. I read something in your paper (The Sun ) sometime when somebody said that Jonathan should not listen to Adamu Ciroma. Ciroma is a straightforward man, he is a man of God and I respect him so much. ACN presidential candidate We are yet to have a convention where we are going to highlight a number of things. We had another convention before where we changed our name to ACN. We are going for another national convention and as of now I know we do not have any presidential candidate in our party. I know that there are some people who are interested in that position. We are sure that any candidate we pick will be better than all these other candidates. Are you going to pick from the North? Let us wait and see. But you said you were going to canvass for the North That is my personal opinion because I think that is what is right. If my party accepts my position, very well then. 2011 elections By the grace of God, my party which is the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) will beat PDP hands down in Oyo State, just like I defeated my opponent in 1999. There is no democracy in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala is sure to have the ticket for the second time, I think we can defeat them. When you take a look at it globally there is a wind of change everywhere. People you do not expect to win elections from the oppositions are the ones that are winning the elections. We need people who can perform. People who also have the intellectual capacity to perform, intellect to perform and morality to perform. That is why there is a wind of change going on around the world. With moneycollected from the federations account, excess crude oil, internally generated revenue then you would see that a lot of money has come to Oyo State. When you take a look at what they say they are doing, all these things do not match the huge amount of money that has come to the state. During my own period as governor, everything I received together was less than N48 billion for four years. With that I was able to run free education, free medical services, construct roads, develop rural areas, award bursary to all Oyo State students in all institutions of higher learning. That shows that there was prosperity in the state when I was there. Now the state government has collected over N300 billion. And you tell me that you are building roads, which roads are you building? Dual carriage way from Molete to whichever? When you look at the dual carriageway, cars are parked on one lane, it is only one lane that is left. From Iwo Road to Monatan, they said they did it again. Agreed that these roads are within Oyo State, but you have not built state roads. All these belong to the Federal Government. If the Federal Government has not refunded, they promised that they would send it. Akala took President Goodluck Jonathan to open New Garage-Apata Road without letting him see the end of the road. A grand deceit, and part of the road you constructed which has not been completed is giving way now. Where did you spend the N300 billion? Education is not free in the state, no free health service, and you cannot successfully pay teachers’ salaries. Have you succeeded in lifting the lives of the people? No! Then you are gallivanting all over the world. When I was governor, I only went abroad three times in four years. I did not take from government money. As at the last count, Akala has gone abroad 32 times wasting our money. Which investment has he attracted to the state? Who is the investor that will come to Nigeria when power is not stable, conditions are not conducive and there is no security. The rural roads are still there, very bad. All these things are making the people unhappy, making the people sad, the people don’t like the situations going on. Akala is the most unpopular governor ever in Oyo State. They believe the opposition is coming mostly from Ibadan and they believe that it has an ulterior motive. I have been governor before. Omololu Olunloyo, Kolapo Ishola and Rasheed Ladoja have been governors before. Nobody is insisting that Ibadan must produce the governor. My party will support any candidate that emerges. We have zoned the governorship to Oyo South Senatoria District, that is Ibadan/Ibarapa. ACN crisis There is no internal crisis. There are some people who have just come into the party and more are still coming. Their belief is to take over the party, but the people they met are resisting them. They are trying to settle the matter now. They need to go for primaries. People are coming into the party brcause they see that it is almost certain that the ACN will win the elections in state. That is why everybody wants to grab whatever he or she wants but I say No! We are going to do it by elections. The INEC rule says that for every election there must be primaries, so why not wait for the primaries? People are coming even from abroad, because they know ACN is going to win the elections in Oyo State. If you say there is internal crisis then it is because they are sure that the party is going to win the elections. NURTW crisis Where there is no justice, peace is in jeopardy. Alhaji Lateef Akinsola, alias Tokyo may not be my man. But definitely, the National Industrial Court (NIC) said he should be restored chairman of the state National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). If we do not have a lawless government in Oyo State, then that is exactly what the government should be doing. Any government that believes in the rule of law, any organisation that believes in the rule of law then that is what they should do. People should be returned first then you can find time to settle this table between the two parties. This government has no managerial abilities for crisis. They don’t know how to resolve the crisis. Yoruba have natural crisis management abilities. So they should resolve the crisis. Tokyo should go back as the chairman of NURTW in the state then you can invite Lateef Salako, alias Eleweomo and tell him that this is your Oga o, you should together with him. The Commissioner of Police should be a good arbitrator in this matter. It is constitutionally wrong for Akala to say he wants to proscribe the NURTW. What type of jungle law is that? The CP must enforce the order of the court. He should not allow the governor to put him under his control. He should be courageous enough to say Mr governor sir, I am a lawabiding officer, I have to enforce the court judgement. We do not want any trouble in Oyo State. We are no longer in the days of wild wild west. Akala’s face-off with the traditional rulers The traditional institutions have existed for thousands of years. So you may disagree with them but you do not need to insult them or drag them in the mud. Democracy is a modern creation, it was not in the world in those days. Een in Greece, there was no democracy in those days as there is now. Even America, is now in democracy but before then there was nothing like that. Definitely the kings were there and they fought for a long time before they could reach that democratic stage they are in today. So it is everywhere in the world and not only in Yoruba land. So it is very uncharitable of the present governor of Oyo State to say he wants to depose Alaafin of Oyo or any oba in the state. Remember, “by their fruits ye shall know them.” What of Olubadan? The Olubadan is making a very strong point. Government is withholding his entitlement, the five percent allocation from local governments under his domain. That is punishment. It is deliberate because the money is there. Olubadan is very right. Akala knows what he should do and those Ibadan people who are supporting Akala should tell him. If they want tension to go down in Ibadan today then let Akala pay up the Olubadan his five percent with arrears. Otherwise the people of Ibadan will not like it when somebody is dragging their Oba in the mud. I was governor when Akala was chairman of a local government in Ogbomoso. When he was about to be impeached by all the councillors in that local government, I said no! That we were not going to impeach him. Those Ibadan sons and daughters in his government are only deceiving him. They deceived the late Papa Samuel Akintola like that, when the time came, he knew what they did. They are deceiving him. It is all a grand deceit. You will see when the d-day comes. Akala’s car gift I was the first governor to leave after four years in office. A law was passed by my House of Assembly. On May 7, 2003, the house passed a law for the governor and deputy governor to get pension commensurate with the salaries they were getting. It was accented to by me. There was no place where they included vehicles, it says pensions shall include severance allowance, gratuity, salaries shall include allowances. Later there was another amendment by the state House of Assembly when there was increase in the salaries of governors. I got a copy and I wrote Alao Akala, he responded by saying yes! The present salary, which he is getting, is what we shall be getting so they amended it, no talk or amendment of car or no car. When they brought the vehicles, I was angry. At this point in time when elections are coming. You know I am the oppossition leader and you know my party wants to take over from you. I said no that I was not going to take the car and that we should talk and so therefore we met and we talked. I asked him and he told me that it was my entitlement. I said look I was a member of the House of Representatives from 1979 to 1983. I was a member of the first assembly that drafted the law, from 1988 to 1989. I am always ready to abide by the law, don’t let me run against the law. Why is it that you should give me a car? He told me that the executive council of Oyo State approved it. I told him that, that was not good enough. If the executive council approves it, it cannot be upheld by any succeeding administration. It is only the House of Assembly that can legislate about it. You added it that the house of assembly is supposed to make the law or amend it. At any rate, it is your executive council that did that. Even if it is my entitlement it would follow the due process. Following the due process comes with other better benefits which include guest houses, cars and many more. You have not done any of that, therefore I cannot collect it from you o! Sorry, I do not want it to look like I am an enemy of the people and that is me. I would not take it unless they amend it. Even if they amend it now, I will still not take it. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/features/newsonthehour/2010/oct/07/newsbreak-07-10-2010-001.htm

Ileke-IdI: ![]() I don't understand. You mean they snore? |
Ileke-IdI:I didn't say he should bring her to the states. I know some folks whose wives are in Nigeria; they visit home to spend 3 months each trip. It can be done, and people are doing it already. As for Yoruba men, they should worry more about us stealing their women. Remember bros Ezeuche? ![]() I won't sleep at night if I were a Yoruba man. ![]() |
^^ And to answer your question, it is like asking whether a lion is a cat. Abacha is a superior (by far) form of salad. The only thing that makes it a salad is the anara/afufa + ugba/ ukpaka + azu mangala +. . . raised to power "n" if you are into Mathematics. |
stillwater:ngwa nezienu anya! ![]() Please no pun intended, are you Igbo? You can only be forgiven if you are not from Igbo land, or if your part of Igbo land is not into abacha. I am yet to meet an Igbo that doesn't know this dish. |

Onlytruth peeps in. . . shakes head and says . . I once saw about 10,000 Hausas or northerners at Nnewi Nkwo triangle. I'm not even talking about other Igbo groups. Something must be wrong with some Igbo groups. My advice to them? Work hard and stop crying. |
OgidiBoy: ![]() Bro, you better grab one fast! You need one who is real though. By real I mean, the ones who can cook those dishes. You may have to head home if you are not already home, to find that type. They are fast going extinct, thanks to our collective lethargy for our best assets. |
