metal-gong:Ngige must not disappoint his supporters in Anambra state. He must not come off like a sore loser. A stitch in time saves nine. He must concede now, or lose his supporters in future elections. Anambra is bigger than any individual. The rest of the country must copy from Anambra state. Elections are not do or die affairs (God punish Obasanjo for introducing that evil jargon ).The light of the nation has shown the way. |
RoadStar:Obviously you are deluded because if Ojukwu gives the word, the Uba brothers will leave IGBOLAND, but what use is that? We are not like your people who kill themselves for politics. The Ubas are local players. The Ikemba is a national player. You don't have to take my words for it. It is self evident. |
sjeezy8:The US interest cannot (and ought not to be) tied to one individual in a country as huge as Nigeria. The west will back anyone in power provided they protect western investments. All that Jonathan needs is courage of convictions. You cannot lead Nigeria if you are weak. Like I said, Jonathan will have good advisers. |
sjeezy8:Very soon it will be Jonathan and no evil appendages called Obasanjo. Don't take my words for it, just watch. Obasanjo is a political leper, at least to anyone who wants to build a truly national leadership. I would run far away from Obasanjo after being sworn in. I know Jonathan is no fool and he will have some good heads to advise him. |
I find this map very interesting. I've been "inhaling" it since yesterday. ![]()

I have warned ndu_chucks to drop that his Igbo username, but as a typical undercover almajiri, he wouldn't budge. The dan iska! ![]() |
Obasanjo! The biggest anti-democracy animal in the history of Nigeria. |
Bolarge:@Bolarge I see your point, but the point Alloy-Emeka was trying to make is that if the people of Anambra state (led by Ojukwu of course) were not determined (through mass mobilization and real threats), this election could still have been rigged. They (Andy Uba, Chris Uba and some PDP thugs) planned to rig it, but the intelligence report given to the IG before the polls showed that a war could have sparked off this election. That scared the powers that be into doing the right thing. I am sure that Jonathan and Onovo would not have allowed Anambra to burn down or spark a war. So, they acted to allow peoples voices. You would notice that only about 10% of voters actually voted. The reason is that the riggers had stolen some voters registers with the aim of snatching ballot boxes and filling out fictitious ballots. It did not happen that way because the police stood in their way. All key players in this election -VP, IG and INEC boss would not let Anambra go up in flames. So, they did their jobs. Anambra people have shown that with dogged opposition to oppression and subjugation, you can make a head way. I hope other states copy this and make it a national movement for change. |
ndu_chucks:Good morning my friend ndu_chucks! Thanks all the same. |
hollandis:You are the enemy of progress because you do not respect the wishes of Anambra voters. Shame on you. Did you not see the huge celebrations all over the state? Whom did you see protest the result in the streets? Take note that the days of brigandage have finally ended in Anambra state, and hopefully other states will rise to do the same and free Nigeria. The days of the locusts are over. Live with it! |
He should join APGA and reform the party from within; then contest for Senate seat next year under APGA. He will win. He is a good man but he joined the wrong party. I have always said that PDP will lose any fair election in Anambra state. All credible people should leave PDP, at least if they hope to win fairly in Anambra state. |
I'm so proud of my state right now for this peaceful election. Anambra people have proven that they are not easily deceived or wooed by empty promises. We have shown the nation how determined a people can be to assert themselves in the face of monstrous propaganda and thuggery. Peter Obi must use this new mandate to rebuild APGA and systematically make it a national party by first winning all of south east, then move on to the rest of Nigeria. This can happen, but it needs focused and determined party leadership. Obi must not see this victory as his alone. He must rebuild APGA and deepen its manifesto and membership nationally. PDP is not a credible party but there are few credible members of PDP who must be wooed away from PDP. Obasanjo is the biggest anti democracy monster inside the PDP. With Jonathan as the new President (even in acting capacity), an opportunity for true democracy may be opening for next year's election. That opportunity must not be missed. We must ensure APGA wins landslide in the remaining elections in Anambra next year. |
The Vice President has done well. He deserves our support now more than ever. |
Something tells me that the Vice President Dr Goodluck Jonathan, together with the Inspector General of Police Ogbonna Onovo played pivotal roles to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of this election. My faith in Nigeria is gradually being strengthened. INEC was compromised as usual (swapped registers and disenfranchised voters), but the police resolutely stood in the way of those who planned to snatch and move ballot boxes throughout the exercise. Notice that Andy Uba only won in Ayamelum LGA (tough terrain!) where there was reported ballot box snatching. All thug activities in other LGAs were thwarted and grounded by the police. If for nothing else, I cannot wait for the VP to assume his full powers. Something tells me that under him, we may finally have a reformed INEC and free and fair elections throughout Nigeria next year. Congrats to the VP Dr Goodluck Jonathan Congrats to the IG Ogbonna Onovo Congrats to Gov Peter Obi Congrats to Anambra state Congrats to Nigeria! |
gbola h:Next thing he must do is to leave PDP immediately! He should leave PDP and stay "party-less" for a while, and then join APGA. Ngige should stop the court action and join APGA too. That party refuses to die despite all the efforts to kill it. It has shown character and a resilience worthy of nurture. If nurtured well, APGA can liberate the entire nation from the PDP stranglehold. |
I am 100% behind edoyad! I can understand him very well. A lot of us southerners need more lessons about the so called north. The day this type of a thing happens in Kano, we may then reevaluate. ndu_chucks, try another move. I was in Kaduna during the Zango kataff riots and I know what edoyad is trying to say. |
A camel will pass through the eye of a needle before PDP wins any fair elections in Anambra state. We don't pay lip service to anti-PDP positions. We live it! One of the biggest worries for voters in this election was that all other top contenders were members of the PDP in one way or the other. PDP lost this election. Congrats, Anambra! |
@Roadstar, My advise to you is to worry about your state, unless you are furious about Igbo presence in your state (which I suspect is Lagos), in which case you may die of frustration because Igbo is now part of Lagos, so live with it! On the Anambra elections, has it occurred to anyone here that Anambra people may have actually voted in their favorite candidate? This election might have revealed the level of rigging that took place in previous elections. Anambra people are arguably the most opinionated people in Nigeria. So, my people are not led by the nose. With all due respect to the great Ikemba, if he had supported PDP or even Ngige, he may lose with them! Every Igbo and every Nigerian should be proud of what Anambra people did here. My candidate was Ngige, but I know my people well. Igbo people say that "onye ezi ka a na awara ogodo mkpu n'ala" - a man with scrotal elephantiasis can only conceal it to a foreigner or a stranger; all locals can never be hoodwinked by wearing of long wrappers! So these voters know all the story about all these candidates, and they made their choice. |
Does it ever occur to all these anti-Ojukwu campaigners here that Anambra people may have actually voted for their favorite candidate? The way I look at it, this election might actually signal the level of rigging that happened in earlier elections in my state. The previous elections might have been so massively rigged, that if they were fair, there would not even be any sign of other parties in Anambra state. I would say this again, Anambra people are far more opinionated than other people in Nigeria. You don't lead them by the nose. So, if they elected Obi, they elected someone they can actually trust. You cannot build heaven on pure lies, and Anambra people know he is lying to them. At least Peter Obi won't steal their money and they know it. So, everyone should respect our wishes here. |
@Roadstar Your main concern is that Igbos live outside Igboland more. You almost fooled me the first time I read from you, but your passion betrays you. So, you are not Igbo, and I can only assume that Igbo presence in your part of Nigeria bother you so much. You cannot worry about Igbo problems more than Igbos unless that "problem" affects you. So quit trying to decide the gullible. My people have spoken. Live with it! |
My favorite quote from the report: "Our sources within INEC disclosed that uncooperative security agents thwarted plans by the two INEC officials to manipulate the election." Sahara Reporters. |
If Obi actually won all those local government areas, he has definitely won. Those are the most populous LGAs in Anambra state. Real time reporting, and a determined Nigerian security personnel may have saved the day and delivered the peoples choice in this election. |
Saharareporters is projecting that incumbent Governor Peter Obi of Anambra is set to win statewide polls held on Saturday February 6, 2010 in Anambra State in the southeastern region of Nigeria. An Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) result obtained by our correspondent shows that official tally of votes point to Mr. Obi as the winner of the governorship election, despite logistical stumbling blocks deliberately created by top officials of the commission. The election was widely regarded as a mirror into the general elections scheduled for 2011 in Nigeria. As at press time, Mr. Obi, who ran under the ticket of APGA, has comfortably won 11 local government areas. According to ballot tallies from polling booths across the state, the APGA candidate won in Awka North, Awka South, Orumba South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Ogbaru, Njikoka, Ekwusigo, Anambra West, Anaocha, and Nnewi South. Saharareporters also projects that Mr. Obi would carry Ihiala. In a stunning blow, Obi trounced Charles Chukwuma Soludo; the candidate of the PDP, in the latter’s local government area. Mr. Soludo, immediate past governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, had used his thugs to snatch ballot boxes in a few polling centers, but his effort to rig the polls became a woeful failure. http://www.saharareporters.com/real-news/sr-headlines/5075-governor-peter-obi-is-projected-winner-of-anambra-polls.html

I have two questions for you: (1) Did you ever do youth service? (2) Did you ever pass a night with a girl during that time? If both answers are yes, then you know that your girl was certainly porked that night, unless the guy is impotent. I have never seen guys more desperate for pork than youth corper guys. I believe you know the answer already. I suspect you just need "muscle" to let her go. |
Obi's early lead. Awka – Some Polling booth results released after Saturday’’s governorship election in Anambra State indicated that Governor Peter Obi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA was leading in most of the local government areas even as other opposition parties including the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the Labour Party candidates continued to lament what they described as the poor conduct of the election by INEC. Results declared at the end of voting in Anaocha, Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Aguata council areas showed that the incumbent governor was comfortably placed as his supporters went into jubilation. INEC had in its guideline for the election authorized the declaration of winners at every polling booth as part of measures to check rigging. While leaders of PDP and other opposition parties were complaining about the poor conduct of the election, the leader of APGA and Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu showered praises on electoral body and security agencies for the peaceful conduct of the exercise. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/02/06/breaking-news-anambra-poll-obi-in-early-lead/ |
