Yeah Priscilla. I'm a Gunner too. But I think Barca's the best team for now. If they win (and I think they would) I wish them goodluck. But if my darling team put up enough pressure to clinch that cup, I'll love em forever. It's going to be an uphil task for the Gunners to beat Barca to it, not with the kind of display I saw Barca put up against Milan yesternight. |
omoifa:I know good things don't come easy. You want our political culture to evolve and you want us to ''allow'' it. I must say I don't know how I as a person have prevented this politico-cultural evolution you want from getting it's roots in the country. You should tell that to our ever greedy and lousy leaders who like sharing the national cake among a clique and pauperise the general public. All I believe and know is that this country is still one today because the resources of the Niger delta people are still being taken as the national cake meant to be shared. Let the Delta people take away this national cake and get to know what will befall this mammoth combination of sickheads called Nigeria. Why do you think the general public do not like protesting against any evil done by bad leaders up there? Why do you think mediocricy still thrive in the country, when we should be encouraging excellence? What about the wastage in every sphere of government, the over bloated civil service? I tell you the answer: It's because the general public, especially the many uneducated folks and the few educated elite knows that most of what they have today in their cities and communities do not really come from their sweat. It came from the forceful acquisition of the resources of the Niger Delta people, which they used in building their town and cities up. And why would the Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo want to spoil something that's going good for them? If there's any protest from any of these tribes against bad leadership, it's what I'll call ''crocodile protests'' - from Crocodile Tears. It's not genuine, because when the chips are down, they will align with those who are giving them free source of livelihood from impoverishing the innocent people of the Niger Delta. If there is any genuine voice amongst them, know that the voice will be whittled down by the many voices against such protests. The Anikulapo families are a very good example in this case. |
I see. But, why change your name? |
What do you mean by stealers? And who's this Nwoke from the blues? |
Folks, I have been wondering how someone like Mantu, who until now was not known in this country, suddenly shot up from no-where to become one of the movers and shakers of the very fabric of our nations existence. It's really puzzling. |
I speak your language (Yoruba) fluently. In fact I had a distinction in Yoruba Language at my O 'levels, and I grew up in your cities - Ibadan, Lagos and Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode. But I am a core Niger Delta indigene. I'm from Delta State. I'm Isoko by tribe. Are you OK with that? Now, we can chat on YIM if you don't mind. I see you're offline all the time I'm on. We'll have to find a way round that, cause I'll really like to chat with you. Cheers. |
Most of us in the Politics section know Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu. He needs no introduction. I have read over the news recently that he narrowly escaped being pulled down by his colleagues in the senate. So many shady deals. OBJs backing in constitution manipulation to favour third term is very obvious, in fact street kids knows Mantu. And like Davidylan, my friend once stated in his dictionary, Mantu has gained that notoriety as a tool for manipulating constitutions! My people, what will history say about someone like Mantu when the roll is called up yonder in the annals of Nigerian Politics? |
My people, just one thing that's puzzling to me. Some wines contains a certain percentage of alcohol. How do I split such wines from from being classified as alcoholic? As a christian I have taken wines with alcoholic content of just 3%, and I remained a normal person. I did not hic or jerk or stumble. I just remained myself. Did I do anything wrong by drinking that liquor? |
You sound like omo americana. It's good to know you're yoruba, though. Does that make your dad a yoruba or your mum instead or both? |
toshmann:But you wanted us to ''appreciate'' or ''regard'' OBJ for all he's doing. How does all this debt relief thing affect the common man. And please note what my brother Owo has written up there. You'd know that we are in a mess in this country. |
Jakumo:Bros, So everybody should gird his/her loins, for the worst is yet to come. |
Take that story with a pinch of salt. Nothing good comes easy. |
First ever Police Strike in the nation's history, am I responsible? Ngige and Uba tango over godfatherism, am I in the know, and responsible? Tafa siphoning state money under the watchful eyes of OBJ, am I responsible? Nigeria has been ranked as the country with the highest number of happy people in the world, am I responsible for that? - me, I'm not happy sha. People Deceiving People on the prowl, am I responsible for that? OBJ's basketmouth talking thrash all the time, am I responsible for that? OBJ's misinformation minister telling people the wrong location of the Bellview plane crash, amI responsible for that? Taylors escape and purported ''re-capture'' under OBJ, am I responsible for that? The list is endless. |
You sound like you're not a Nigerian. Well, if you're not, no big deal, but if you are, I suggest you buckle up and get ready to help free your fatherland from criminal elements everywhere. |
Bros Jakumo, I beg to disagree that OBJ is the lesser of the four evils. He's not, and indeed he's the greatest of them all. How? 1. It was OBJ who engineered the Land Use Act decree and other obnoxious laws during his tenure as Head of State in the late 70's 2. He (OBJ) is fond of setting up committees, calling round table talk and other chat shows just for the sake of talking and wasting time. The recent pronouncement on the Niger Delta situation is one that stares us all in the face. He knew all along the problems bedevilling the area, he promised to address them when he came in as President in 1999. He even set up the NDDC to ''address'' the grievances of the area. Well, we all know that NDDC is just a tool in OBJs hands to pauperise the ND people the more. 3. He's the architect of gangsterism, the father or hooliganism. He's the creator of godfatherism and chaos. The Oyo, Bayelsa, Anambra and Plateau saga is a living testimony to this. 4. He flouts court orders, the police is a tool in his hands, and he wields so much influence on the instruments of state. 5. The Senate ''under'' him is actually a rubber stamp arm of the government. 6. And it was under OBJ that the nation witnessed the first ever Nigeria Police Strike in the history of the nation. I think the good he's done so far should be taken witha pinch of salt. He should be investigated without delay and brought to justice. He also said he'll leave Aso Rock over his dead body, now what sort of leader is that other than a sit tight one? At least IBB was able to step aside during his time as military president, OBJ is greedy. He should learn from IBB the act of stepping aside. This is my view of OBJ. He's evil personified, and IBB and others are his students in the art/act. They learnt whatever evil they practice from OBJ. |
Hi Eddy! good to know you're back. Forget about all those rogues in high places. Their time's up. |
Well, Wes, the protests were far from being peaceful in Nigeria. It took a catastrophic dimensions entirely, and I believe there was more to the Cartoon protests in the Nigerian case. It's more like ethnic cleansing, sort of. Anyways, it's good you're back. And what led you in to the Politics section of Nairaland? No offence this time, unlike the underage thing at the romance section, remember? |
solange:Hi Solange, I think the solution to our problems is for us to part ways across the geopolitical lines. Lets split the country, and all will be well. |
This is what you get when you push people too far. The Ijaws and indeed the Niger Deltans are wiser now. They have reached that point of no return. No amount of carrot dangling can break their resolve to ''possess their possession'' |
@Kimba, Something kept recurring in your reply to my last entry. Drunkeness Definitely, this is different from drinking for pleasure and good health. Like I said in one of my entries, some drugs include alcohol in them to make them effective. Just ask a pharmacist nearby and they will tell you it's true. Besides, a lot of wines nowadays state their percentage of alcoholic content, so it's up to you to choose the ones best for you. Personally, I will not go for any wine with an alcohol content of more than 5% I believe you can drink any wine (either alcoholic or not), so long as you don't get drunk. |
2cantango:Hmnnn, I see. Where have you been? It's been a while, you know. |
2cantango:@2C, Now, who was dat?! |
But tonight will be different. |
Was ALONE in bed last night |
Reverend:Reverend, LOL |
@Ice-bitch (I honestly would like you to change that terrific name), That's a wonderful observation from you. This ''freedom'' of everything is driving the whole world crazy. We've got to put a check on this freedom of ours now, before we turn slaves to it. |
A bit of digging deep in the scriptures will let you in on the type of wine Jesus got from Water. Just do some research about jewish wines, and you get the answer, pronto! |
@larger, We are deviating. I'll rather we discuss this matter in the political ''settings'' in here. So, once again, I'm a Delta State indigene. The state is among the states that ''feeds'' the nation. And very soon, everyone has got to fend for themselves. I think we have played Santa Claus for too long in Nigeria. It's time to get real. |
Hey! I'm no boy o. By the way, why did you call yourself a bad girl? You don't look bad to me. You look pretty cool (most Kalabari ladies are) Maybe I'm not getting the jerk. |
