I'm not surprised, I know Lady GL will come to the rescue and wield the magic wand and everything will be alright.

Madam, you too much. God bless.

But I didn't get that story you described up there very well.
FamilyRe: Should Every Property Owned By A Couple Be In The Husband's Name? by ono(m): 6:00pm On May 14, 2006
@Chinani,
I know we've clashed over divorce in one thread bordering on divorce some time ago. And now this one.

Anyway, I will fall back to my original recipe for this kind of problem(s).

''Go get married and tell us how you solved this kind of problem, if it ever existed, in your home in the first place''

@IAH,
You know, I like people who aim high. My wife's just like that. But,  like your friend Chinani stated above from her Russian proverb,
"I told GOD my plans. HE laughed.",  Who among us is GOD? Who among us can control life and make it go the way it plans? No one. So we must put things in writing''
You'd agree with me that things, often times, don't go the way you want it to go. You can put in so much efforts and pressure and all that, but still have all your hope and desires dashed and replaced with something you hardly wished for. And when it comes to marriage, my dear, I'll advise that much as you aim high in that regard, it's better you come down low at times so that you can get to the top. Maybe I need to understand your aiming high properly with regards to marriage. Correct me.

And Chinani, I think your advise applies more to IAH, than this situation. Many of the replies to this thread has been from ladies who are not married. Kiddies at best. I will not take their entries seriously.

I will rather have the views of married people, especially those with solid christian background, or people (men and women) with good christian background on this matter. I longed to read something from GL and Flower on this.

kimba:
@chinani
Methinks, ladies need y'all to do a background check to make sure the family members of your hubbies don't have business tendencies.

Seriously, but all the same, i think it depends on the amount of love between the couple. In the past, "I do" was "I do". Now, "I do" has become "I do,, if", and thats where the problem is.

In fact, in case of property ownership, usually, there is 1-owner's name penned down, and then first/2nd-of-kins statement details. I believe its wrong for a married-man to put down the name of his own brother/sister(elder/junior) as a next-of-kin if he has a wife. Its absolutely wrong.

If he states that someone else is his next-of-kin, then I rule out there is a problem in that marriage. Let them work on that marriage first before property.

My mother is the #1 next of kin to my dad, and not even his brothers/sisters can argue about that. In fact, my dad can't even think about such an idea in the first place. Thats how much i know he loves my mom.

Period.
Chinani, I bet I can come in now, but I'll tread carefully. I fully agree with Kimba on what he's stated.

Except of course, there's more to what ye ladies want than the picture Kimba has described. In that case, let the names of the two people (husband and wifey) be on the owners box. But that'll look somewhat absurd, if you ask me. I think there must be a way round this. Still waiting for more entries from the guys.

Kimba, well said.

Ono, To be sincere, I'm very disappointed in you. I feel the pains you'll feel, not because I'm sufferring, but because we are brethren, and as a result, no matter how good my life may seem, I cannot be happy to see my brothers suffer. But should that be a reason for killing? should that be a reason for violent demonstrations? Should that be a reason to encourage people that are chasing their own self interests? I understand what you guys are experiencing and I honestly feel sad about it. I'm promising myself that I would do anything for my people that is within my reach. But please please and please, lets stop all these tribalism. Lets forget about the division of Nigeria into states, and assume Nigerian is just one piece of land with us all as people hailing from thesame tribe. MEND is not interested in the welfare of the people of Niger-Delta. If their goals are achieved, they will be even worse that those politicians. They will rather fund their ill-goaled organizations,to have more power to get more.
If they want to prove their point, let them appeal to their government, rather than tagging Nigerians with bad names. I can assure you all out their that no body outside Nigeria will say Warri guys are dangerous. They will tell you that the Nigerian man is Dangerous. My brothers and sisters, two wrongs won't make a right. I say it's about time we came together as one people, to confront our problems, rather than attack ourselves trying to hi light the problem maker.
I love Nigeria, I love Niger-Delta, and I Love my fellow country men. Peace on you all
Ola,
I hope you read all of my entries on this thread very well. Why are you this dissapointed in me?
PoliticsRe: US Oil Worker Killed In Port Harcourt by ono(m): 9:46am On May 12, 2006
@Old Glory,

You don't seem to understand our beef with these people, who believe they were born to lord themselves over us. It's not all about oil and gasoline getting replaced with ethanol. Gosh! I thot I spelt that out pretty well in some of my entries earlier on.

What we want, and which we will get very soon, is an atmosphere where we can determine our future and the future of our siblings by maximising the resources, which God in his infinite mercies have given us.

I don't care if ordinary air replaces gasoline in the nearest future, or even bullshit. I don't give a damn. What I'm against is someone coming around me from a very dirty place telling me that he knows how best to satisfy my needs, using my own resources. That's what's going on in Nigeria and the Niger delta. I hope that drives home some point.

That said, you need to understand that the felled American was not killed by MEND folks. Afeni said the tension brewing in the area as caused by MEND created the enabling environment for perpetrators of evil to go on the loose. But who do you blame for that? Is it the MEND guys fighting for the rights of the Niger Delta people or the nonchallant, ignorant and misguided FG in Abuja whose Police force have not been able to nail the killers of the Nations Minister of Justice and Attorney General? And a FG under OBJ who's been fighting corruption with corruption - dishing out N50million Naira to willing and never-do-well Senators to extend his tenure in office for ever?

I think you should get your facts right before coming in here to fart!

@Oriki, that's one comprehensive information I've always wanted to have handy. It's been kind of elusive, I just don't get it. Now, I can copy this one and save it somewhere. I just hope all those stats are correct.

Nice work.

@Danmasani, it's not very good to trust what outsiders say about what's going on inside your house. It smacks something like foolishness - you know.

well sha after all said. when i've had any health issues like headache, purging or toothache like i had last week its only normal that my pastor and others around pray for me, i've not heard anyone telling me its a spiritual attack (u guys need to check the people u stay around). and there are such things as spiritual attacks am not a fool that i would not believe this things, didnt i stay in naija for a while. i just thank God when i hear this many scary stories, i know i've never face it and will never in Jesus Name. i think if u've not watched exorcism of emily rose, u should. it teaches us that some tend to interpret spiritual attacks as medical issues. even as i believe that some things are physical attacks which can be treated by different medications there are also spiritual attacks as we are all spirits living in flesh.
Now, that's a wonderful one from baby4u2, I watched that movie, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and boy! I was so shocked that such things happen over there too. I mean that was a true life story of what happened to a young, very intelligent and bright girl at an early age. But demons attacked her and turned her to something else. She talked very much like a beast at a stage, howling and shouting.

Personally, I think that story aptly describes spiritual attack in every sense of the words, cause those scenes are not something that could be explained with the physical.

That's right. There's more to that killing than MEND activities. But ignorant people would not look in that direction, they prefer chasing shadows.

I think this Afeni chap is better of when ignored. There's no point in joining issues with him.

But on a second thought, it will do you well to listen to my brother, Owo and read previous entries on this matter. Maybe then you'd be in better position to say anything worthwhile.

PoliticsRe: US Oil Worker Killed In Port Harcourt by ono(m): 1:49pm On May 11, 2006
@ Owo and Rotty,
My brothers, the likes of Sergeant at Arms and Afeni do not think in the direction you guys have just described. I would not be surprised that they belong to the long forgotten sect of those who believe that they were born to rule, even in this day and age of reasoning and infotech. I pity them. Their types are even worse than degenerates that Afeni refers to as the Nigerdelta people. They are cheap opportunistic few, who delights in other peoples sufferings. Uninformed lot!

Afeni wants to know why we did not strike during Abacha, well I put it to him that the likes of Abiola who put up such an escapade is lying ''peacefully?'' in his grave. I bet the Yorubas could not muster enough courage to face Abacha when their Aare Ona kakanfo was felled by the brutal maximum ruler. Even General Diya, a trained lawyer, was so brutally treated that he literally forgot to pronounce the words ''masterminds'' properly. He blurted out the words masterminder instead. It was even during this time that our icon, Kenule Saro-Wiwa was felled by thesame Abacha, so, you are being myopic for you to say we did not put up any resistance under bad leadership.

Afeni and serge should be told that the MEND boys are adequately equipped to counter any resistance from any angle. And they have the backings and goodwill of well meaning NigerDelta people.

@ Ono

I hope u are not one of this MEND guys. because i am coming right at u personally.

Our social and economic image is being tarnished, we can't just sit and watch, the government has to do something about it. i, personally, as a nigerian hate to be branded 'violent'
Sergeant at Arms,
The MEND folks have not claimed responsibility for the killing of the American oil chief. At best, what we've heard is that it might be an ''internal thing'' where the felled American works, so don't just bring MEND into this matter.

And this ''your'' socio-economic image is better felt up there in Abuja. You must understand that the average NigerDeltan does not give a damn about such things. He's been paupersied, abused and killed over the years because he lives near an oil well, with the resources that should have been used to better his lot channeled to such places like Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Kwara, Lagos and Otta to develop such places.

Daily, you folks in Abuja enjoy all of the basic amenities of this life and care less about what happens down here. It only concerns you when the money is not coming in anymore. Just imagine all that oil money have turned Abuja into and you want to come after me in Warri.

Well, let me warn you. Warri is a very dangerous place to catch someone like Ono. It's just like going after a ferocious lion, when he's in his den. He'll tear the victim to shreds!! Be warned.

Granted this is not the right way to about things, but now they can now be heard in far far away places, even very important places. Obviously they have tried to reason with this government but to no avail. This guys have been pushed to this action. Do not get me wrong, I don't condone or agree with violence. But when the government is busy chasing this their Third Term Agenda, which for these people mostly likely means a continuation of their plight, given that nothing has changed for them in the past 7 years, why are we surprised at the escalation of the violence? Now we are dealing with trapped animals, it will get worse not better, cry
I just hope you're not referring to the Nigerdelta people as trapped animals. I think all ye non-Niger Deltan better heed the advice of some of the dangerous ones amongst us - MEND, and pack your bag and luggages and leave PH and Warri for good. Go back to Cocoa and groundnut farming and feed your siblings with whatever you realise from that one.

We will exploit all that the good Lord has given us (including Palm oil, Rubber, Fishes, Water, and other natural resources) without the dictates of some dirty people from other places.

The fear of MEND is the beginnig of Wisdom for non indigenes in the Republic of the Niger Delta.
PoliticsRe: Niger Delta: What Is The Problem? by ono(m): 10:26am On May 11, 2006
@Afeni, you'd better don't think of coming home anyway. Why bother about home when you've got all you need in the US?

You know, what I don't understand with this lopsided country called Nigeria is why some tribes feels they have the audacity and temerity to tell us in the Nigerdelta what developmental projects we need, when to put in place, how to go about it and all that thrash. They even carry on as if the folks in the Delta are people living in the iceage or is it stoneage?

Imagine someone saying ''
Afeni:
The Federal Government needs to send in the troops before they begin any economic development projects.
.

Who's the Federal Govt, if I may ask? Well, if you say it's the ''body'' representing the whole country, I'll tell you that that body does not include the people of the Niger delta in it. It's at best composed of misguided elements, predominantly of the northern and south-western blocks of the country, who are just after their own selfish interests and agenda in a failed nation called Nigeria.

OBJ said he'll flag off the dualisation of the East-West road this May + other juicy projects meant to soothen frayed nerves in the delta - just like dangling a carrot!, we're already in the second week and counting, there's no visible sign that he'll come to do that. Instead, we are hearing of his plans to visit the Moon, just like a misguided, rotund and doublespeak man we all know of him.

The other day, I heard on the news how the FG has spent over N50billion in renovating and constructing old and new roads respectively all over Ogun, Kwara, Oyo and Lagos states. How much does Ogun generates into the nation's purse, Kwara too and Oyo, how much do they generate to warrant such massive construction works across these states?

But the only road linking the three important oil producing states of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwaibom - the East West road is in a sorry state.
