Utter nonsense, civilized people fight, protest, riot but in the end settle. Is operation we tie the reason they removed referendum? The loss of the right to a referendum is an ibo legacy, the ibos never wanted it, the north and the west fought for it. The lack of referendum is a major reason our leaders misbehave because they know they can act with impunity and no tribe can leave...that is your legacy! The ibo agenda has always been to dominate Nigeria, what happened in the western region was simply an excuse to execute what was the ibo agenda all along. I said it earlier, the ibos are the only tribe in Nigeria that will always burn the house down win they don’t get their way, history has shown us that and we are waiting for their next attempt in 2023 when they lose out again. By the way the ibos were so concerned about affairs in Yoruba land they staged a coup, the same ibos whose 1st move when they formed government with Balewa was to create mid west region to weaken the west? You are so kind and considerate!
The 1966 military coup was a coup of Nigeria army by soldiers from the major and even some minority tribes of Nigeria.

Revisionists like you later termed it an Igbo coup.
The coup was stopped by Igbo military officers. Develop more sense. Scheeming to continue to exclude the Igbo from apex political leadership of Nigeria in 2023, that's all the ethno-religious bigots like you are foaming in the mouth for. Go and sleep; Nigeria has been ruled for ages without the Igbo at the apex political leadership. It’s 2023, or never.

The thing is we all saw what you did in the few months you ruled Nigeria, you are the o es who removed referendum and created the unification decree. The irony is the system we are living under today is your creation, when you thought you would be in power forever. Read up Ironsi’s decree 34. The northerners who has no power over anybody simply kept the laws they met (which the Ibos created) when they staged their coup. So actually you are the architects of Nigeria’s misfortune because you created the system we operate today and destroyed the system we operated before that worked and had brought rapid progress in all 3 regions!!!!
Ironsi did not create the existing suffocating type of
unitary government system. You know those who did after Ironsi used his Decree to get a few more powers from the regions then to avert problems created by Operation Wetie in the SW region.
You can continue to live in the past as long as you want, but let others who want to live in the realities of today move on to tomorrow.

If Saraki, Tambuwal and Atiku truly want unity for Nigeria, they should strategize for a southerner to succeed President Buhari.
Nigeria's skewed and lopsided political structure created by north through its soldiers between 1967 to 1996, necessitated zoning of the presidency between the north and the south. They know that.

I think that this problem, as repeated by Prof. Barth Nnaji, is well-known to both the public and private the stakeholders of the sector. But what curious minds like myself would like to know is how we can solve this problems, and also if it's the FG, state government, or the private sector that should be relied upon to solve it once and for all, that way we'll know who to hold accountable for prolonging this problem. We keep making this stable electricity issue seem like it's rocket science.

Perhaps it's a lack of will to solve the problems that is the issue because these problems have always been there. Why can't a solution be devised for the sector the way it was with the Telecommunications sector for example?

You don't know that Democracy in Nigeria is a farce. How? The 19 states ccreated by northern soldiers in the old Northern region but only 17 states in the old two southern regions, is a guarantee that no southern presidential candidate can win Nigeria's presidential election if northern region supports a northern presidential candidate. The president of Nigeria is not elected. But, Nigeria's presidential candidate is choosen largely by north and paced at one of the largest political parties to be ratified by votes of the electorates.

Historically, the story remains the same. They schemed Awolowo out for Shagari who is today viewed as the progenitor of the failure of Nigeria and the Godfather of our situation today.

Let them initiate regionalsim, as SW Governors are demanding uncompromisingly, so regions, if they want, can freely chose Nnamdi Kanu, Yaya Bello etal to lead them rather than one of the most successful political administrator in the history of Nigeria.

That would really please me as someone who passionately believe people get the leaders they deserve.

The legislators are up with a trick: Tinubu shall become APC presidential candidate but most of the north shall troop into voting a PDP presidential candidate, possibly, Atiku or Tambuwal.
Whoever the north supports wins Nigeria's presidential election because of the skewed, lopsided and fraudulent political structure created by the north through its soldiers between 1967 to 1996.

Nigerians blame President Buhari and his Garba Shehu here as if they don't understand that no Messiah can come from the present fraudulent political structure of Nigeria under unitary government system, to fix Nigeria.

Even if a Barack Obama or a Bill Clinton emerges president of Nigeria, the country shall still be getting worse every year.

The north used its soldiers to restructure Nigeria politically. The 19 states and Abuja proliferated in one Northern region gave northern politicians the capacity to largely determine who presides over Nigeria.
Through the political structure, the north which says it's the most educationally disasdvantaged region largely determines who leads Nigeria, or what can happen in Nigeria. Others look up to the north like siddon de look.

When you mention that maybe we get Harvard and MIT grads or the best of the best here, to be leaders, they say they rather local, tested and trusted corrupt politicians. Their trust is directly proportional to the scale of corruption, the more corrupt you are, the more you are trusted.

When you say, okay let’s divide the country or at least have regions sort themselves out, they tell you that this British creation, one not of their own ancestral doing, can never be undone. Never ever ever!

Who are they? Your fellow Nigerians.

Can I even blame them? It’s like the chicken and the egg question, which came first? If the egg came first, then what laid it? If the chicken came first, then how did it come to be?

Leaders or more accurately, rulers here in Naija bastardize the country and leave citizens uneducated, citizens in turn support the corrupt leaders to further impoverish them. Who is to be blamed? The citizens or the rulers?

Anyways, may God be with you bro and help you to rise above the many challenges! It is about time I return to the deep, sigh.
What is holding Nigeria down?
By wrongful use of land mass or contrived population figures as yardstick, a fraudulent political structure was created by northern Nigeria through its soldiers between 1967 and 1996 when 19 states and Abuja were proliferated in one Northern region, but only 17 states allowed in the two old southern regions.
But land mass or population figures is never used as criterion to derive new federating units, like states or local government councils, in a country formed by diverse regions; worse, in a Nigeria under unitary government system.

The 36 states and Abuja political structure practically assigned absolute political powers to Hausa/Fulani-led northern politicians, channels more of the country's development funds and federal allocations to the northern region.
Northern politicians thus largely determine who should be presented to voters for presidential elections.
This way, barely qualified leaders are imposed upon the country through sham elections. Hyper Corruption becomes inevitable among the political office holders. It creeps into the private sector.
The fraudulent political structure ensures that no presidential candidate from the south of Nigeria can win Nigeria's presidential election, if northern region supports a northern presidential candidate. Thus, the self-acclaimed most educationally disasdvantaged northern region determines who leads Nigeria at every turn.

Northern, Eastern and Western regions formed Nigeria at independence. Why would 20 new federating units be created in ONE region, north; but only 17 new political units in the TWO southern regions?
If the political structure is not equitably rearranged in a democratic environment, the worst of Nigeria is yet to emerge.

Bold.

Speak up? What can happen after speaking?
The political structure of Nigeria created by north through its soldiers can hold a northerner in power even if most of Nigeria is dying of hunger, no speaking by any one, no protest; the northern president cannot be impeached.

Hausa/Fulani leads most of the north. By using their soldiers to turn old Northern region into 19 states with corresponding political representation at the legislative chambers, but leaving only 17 states in the two southern regions with far less political representation, the north determines everything that can happen in Nigeria. It's fraud to use land mass or population as criteria to create too many states in an area with larger land mass in a country formed by different regions.
