Kasssandra:If you remove the subsidy,it means nigerians will buy directly imported fuel which goes above #450 per litre! The resultant effect is hyperinflation! Nigerians and the economy will not survive if any president attempts to remove fuel subsidy without repairing the refineries! Pandemonium is inevitable! Endsars protest will be childs play compared to what might transpire! We cannot keep paying for the incompetence and negligence of an FG that have refused to get their priorities right! Nothing was preventing the FG from getting funds to either repair or build new refineries! A state in the US has 47 refineries and we are grappling with just one refinery which may not be enough to serve everyone! Nigerians are not the ones that stopped them from building new refineries since this administration started! Kasssandra:Is our crude oil imported? Do we not have crude oil for domestic consumption? Once local production begins, the 'landing cost' at the port will be taken out! Achieving cheaper diesel and fuel is possible when more players come into a deregulated system which is already at work! Let us start local production first and let the private refineries like dangote compete, this will drive down the price eventually! 1 Like |

rusher14:Let them build or repair the refineries first to alleviate the sufferings of the citizens! Now that they are a private entity, they can also issue licences to companies who intend building refineries! Despite having private owned refineries, the USA also have government owned refineries! Seems the financial challenges and inflation rate in the country has not gotten to you! |

Kasssandra:So What happens when the FG repairs or build the refineries first? When the subsidy is removed who pays for the actual price of the imported products? How much is aviation fuel? How much is a single trip by air? Diesel has been deregulated right? How much is diesel sold in your own state currently? |

MDM2021:So if i get you correctly we should all as usual keep lamenting about our poor leaders and give up because the ones we have currently have failed us? As much as i agree with you that we need to go back to the very foundation that adequately worked for the nation which is true federalism,we must also know that we the electorates have the mandate to elect the right personality to take us there! The likes of Awolowo or Azikwe that you mentioned did not just find their way into leadership positions by imposition...They were elected by the citizens of the country! We cannot keep complaining of bad leadership and yet sit still and do nothing hoping for God to miraculously drop a messiah as president to leader us... If we want things to change,we the citizens must do our best to elect the right candidates not just in the presidency but the state and LGAs! |

rusher14:If they cannot repair why is the minister for state Sylva saying the PH refinery will be in operation by the end of the year? If this was possible, why was the repair not carried out right from the inception of this administration? Lets even admit without conceding that our moribund refineries are beyond repair, what stopped the FG from building new refineries instead of denying that there was anything called subsidy? A state in america Texas has 47 operational refineries yet we are trying to revive a refinery when we have the resources to build new ones! I stand to be corrected....Nigeria is the only OPEC country that still imports petroleum products! What a disgrace! |
Politics / Re: Subsidy Removal: Keyamo Tackles LP, Obi Over Proposal by openmine(m): 5:35pm On Sep 17, 2022 |
If this same administration had done the needful by having the will power to repair and build new refineries from 2015,we would not be experiencing an inflation in the price of aviation fuel where a single trip by air attracts more than 80k! If PMB had dedicated resources from the beginning of their administration to ensure refineries are working instead of resorting to blame games, there would have been nothing like fuel subsidy by now and diesel that was 230 per litre last year wont be selling for 700-900 naira! |

MDM2021:That is not totally true! We have leaders who can do far better than what we are witnessing today! Provision of Power supply, curbing insecurity, repair or rebuilding of refineries and encouragement of more local production is not rocket science if we have focus driven leaders not just at the apex of power but the buttom where you have the LGA chairman! The mere idea that there is no magic wand is a ready made excuse by some folks who are benefitting from the mess that Nigeria is currently facing! We dont need saints to make Nigeria better,we need the right leaders who understand what needs to be done and the will power to do so! If this administration had prioritized the rebuilding or repair of refineries in their first 4 years while lobbying for the bill to decentralize electricity in the country,we wont be in this financial mess where we have to pay a whooping 6trillion for just fuel subsidy! |

Its unfortunate that despite all the numerous issues that were discussed in the interview, its the 'my turn' part of the entire discus that got the OP's attention.... Several issues were discussed like power, insecurity, subsidy, corruption etc The very fact that he is an advocate for state policing is quite admirable because state and community policing is an idea whose time has come unfortunately the present administration lacks the willpower to do what they what they used in campaigning in 2014! He also talked about the refineries which has always been my concern about the present administration.... How can the PMB led government explain how it took the 7 years to even think of looking for funds to repair a refinery they claimed is moribund and beyond mending? 1 Like |

uniqueuser:Haaaa seriously....I highly doubt that sha How can you be a huge fan of Klopp and after a few dodgy results, you want him to get the tuchel treatment? Bro thats not fair for a manager that has turned a midtable team to a fearsome squad since he took over in 2015! I guess the reason for the overwhelming slurs from some LFC fans is because klopp has set the bar of standard so high that any result aside a win will always bring his managerial competence to an intense scrutiny...We must also not forget where we are coming from so that we can appreciate the amount of work he has put into this team for the past 7 seasons! uniqueuser:Your concerns are valid and who would be happy with roller coast results we have been witnessing? However,we must take into account that the team is going through a phase as more players in the team are hitting the 30 plus mark and in need of few changes esp in the midfield! The phase must be gradual and should not be rushed in order not to kill the spirit and unity in the team...some folks here might disagree but that is the way i see it and i gladly welcome their epistle of doomsday brickbats! Finally, the idea of blowing teams away may not happen for now since we need to go back to the basics and start building from the back considering the fact that we have been leaking goals of recent...When we get some clean sheets under our belt while churning out victories like the one witnessed last night,we can now go back to annihilating teams! uniqueuser:If we had lost or drawn the game, you would have requested that klopp gets the tuchel treatment from FSG or insinuate like others here that he is not good enough as if he were just a boy scout coach that needed to work on egg shells to impress people about his ability....same klopp that in the last three seasons have won everything for LFC! Well at this stage, every win no matter how it comes is important and will serve as a motivation to do better despite the humongous mockery this team and manager have received from rivals and some of its fans! |

BigDawsNet:Like I said before,LFC do not have the financial muscle like man city to buy expensive players! Darwin's purchase was already muted long before we played the finals! U are actually agreeing with what I just said about the gradual phasing of players! Pep with all his financial muscle will never want to replace the likes of de bryne and gondogan who are approaching their 30s and decide to replace them with the player bought from Leeds! When you are taking out the older players, and replacing them with new ones, you most do so intelligently as a coach in order not to disrupt the team! What did I just hear you say? Man city is not richer than LFC? Abeg no talk am for public Mae them nor laugh you.....U are comparing man city owners that one of the oil well will buy the entire Liverpool club? Go and google the owners of man city and we will talk! |
Sports / Re: Bailly: Man Utd Should Avoid Favouring English Players & Give Everyone A Chance by openmine(m): 4:37pm On Sep 07, 2022 |
BigDawsNet:Every great manager gambles...Every success driven coach in the world had taken big risks and most times have paid off for them...The conservative one have remained small and paid the price with a sack like Tuchel! The players you have listed may be nearing the wear and tear stage of their career but it would be foolishness to outrightly and instantly replace them...The simple ideology is to gradually phase them out by bringing in youth or new players without totally disrupting the dynamics of the team! Take for instance Nunez,Jota and Diaz were bought to ease the gradual phasing of the trio of mane(who already left),firmino and eventually salah who are in their 30s! Same thing is happening in the defence and eventually the midfield.....any immediate replacement will destroy the team! Milner 5 years ago was bought by Brenda rogers not as a starter but a calming and vocal influence to the team that lacked leaders then! Klopp saw the motivational influence of milner and always wants him in that team! He may be old but every manager will tell you that you need older and more experienced players that have seen it all to motivate the younger ones either on the pitch or on the bench! We could have or should have is a wish.....You should not forget where LFC is coming from before making humongous expectations! I stand to be corrected...how many managers alive have taken LFC to 3 UCL finals and won one? How many managers in LFC has taken LFC thrice to the summit of the league and won once? Last season we won 2 cups and almost ran away with everything including the UCL but someone has to win and someone had to lose! The most important thing is to keep fighting and keep trying which is what they are doing..... Liverpool is not as rich as Mancity or manutd or Newcastle considering the part of the country where the owners are from! Liverpool do not just buy any players just due to hype or pressure but they go for the ones that can fit into the philosophy of the team and become an upgrade to what they already have! Yes you are right...Klopp would even prefer to get a low budget player and improve on them rather but a star player who will become heady and disrupt the team's unity....so far,he has succeeded with such structure! When you buy stars, its puts pressure on the manager to deliver and failure to do so will put the manager on the chopping block like Tuchel! Your last statement is apt...Thats the spirit! |

BigDawsNet:U complain constructively! Pep hasn't won UCL for man city but see how their fans rallied around him believing the following season will be theirs....where was Liverpool before klopp replace Brenda rogers? Liverpool were playing Europa league... Klopp remains the only manager alive that has won everything for LFC in early and present 2000...I stand to be corrected! As for mane,I don't even want to go into details because I have done so in several sports threads on nairaland where some rival fans tried to twist a wrong narrative about the club including the misplaced assumption that mane was treated badly by the club! Mane wanted to leave...he said this to the press that he had earlier to klopp that he will be leaving LFC.....that's why klopp made plans quickly to replace him with Diaz! Even when there were rumours that LFC wanted to negotiate a new 3 year contract with him,the agent and already said his client mane had made up his mind to leave! If you have any contrary report, please feel free to post the link here let me confirm! The bottom line is mane wanted to leave and there is nothing anyone would have done to stop him....simple! Diaz is doing exactly what mane and salah did when coutinho left.....others will take responsibility! LFC is going through a stage where the older players need to be phased out gradually while introducing and giving confidence to the younger and new players that will show up in the future! |
