You fail to provide good health care and medicines, and you believe that to improve the health system of the people all you need to do is to ban their use of herbs which people have had to resort?
I think some people need a brochure for using their brain. Something like "Thinking made easy", "Key points to using the brain", and "Applying the brain for dummies".
I keep getting shocked that human evolution has refused to move humanity beyond inverted reasoning, blaming the victim of a failed system for the ineptitude of their elected officers.

bankylan: This is gross misinformation! You have no clue about power sector and the reality on ground in Nigeria. How much do you spend on generators annually from different countries to allude that some nations use your money to develop themselves?
You made mention of solar energy as if it is what industrialized nation and developing nations use to spur development. Germany as at today still use coal in power generation, so also US, China and Canada. Do you want to power industries with solar energy?
Google all the developed and developing worlds to look at their energy mix. We don't have the resources for cheaper power generation, you are talking of solar energy as a nation trying to develop industrially when US is pulling out of Paris climate change agreement. Please what are the cheaper sources of energy that Nigerians are producing? I will like to know one bros.
As I type this, I just finished a meeting with a top person at Ikeja electric on some power issues in Nigeria. I have an experience in the industry not as a power system engineer though, but with what I know, anyone that is talking about ban on generator now is either insane or plain stupid.
We have a generating capacity that is under utilized that we are even selling electricity to neighbouring countries just because the TCN owned by the FG 100% has a mere 5000 MW wheeling capacity out of about 13,000 MW we can potentially produce.
Please let me know if you are willing to learn so that I can break this down to you as even those in NERC and ministry of power are technically deficient to know the issue with electricity in Nigeria. Thanks jare! |

Romanoff: Of course they will add to the grid. Adding to the grid rather than affecting the state individually is not ideal! I hope you know that our problem is not gencos(generating sector) but the trancos(transmission sector) So far our gencos can generate more than 13 000 mW but our trancos is only limited to 5 000 mW which is not enough for a country like Nigeria! So which company will want to generate power and cannot transmit due to the limitations of our transmission lines? This is why unbundling of the power sector will ensure that these power companies go to the states rather than go through the national grid! |

Swinger60: you are making a point in your way, but, there some things that faze away by itself without even govt banning it. For eg, if our electricity sector becomes stable, no one will have to buy generator and importing of generators will faze out.
Let our government provide us with stable electricity before they think of banning generator.
Our leaders usually wake up one morning and decide to ban one thing or the other, without providing an alternative first. They don't even need a ban.....they will die a natural death once people have at least 22-23 hours of power supply! Who no like better thing? |

No power company can do so without being added to the national grid! Its there in our constitution! Instead of this crazy and mindless bill, the senator and the senate should be pushing for the unbundling of the power sector! In other words,Every state should develop their own power! Once this is done, this same power companies will individually meet the government of each state and do the needful like you said! But until that happens,no sensible company will invest their hard earned funds on a failing and uncoordinated institution like the power sector controlled by a politically inclined FG! |

If by April the virus is still present, believe me the entire league and season will be cancelled, starting from when the league was suspended, which means according to UEFA and FIFA protocol, the season does not exist starting from when it was suspended which means that there is no winner or loser.... This means all the teams that was available last season will still be available this season according to their standing last season, the relegation, promotion, champion league, eufa league position all remain the same. Which leaves us with the same teams that play this season to play next season all starting from afresh 0 point......leaving only mancity as a winner of Carling cup because their position as winner was already confirmed when they lifted the trophy.
It has happened before in 1939.... And according to FIFA rules, the old season cannot interfere with the new season.
And Liverpool cannot win the league because they were no confirmed champion...(even if na one game remain to win with 10 matches to play they would it if it is cancelled because from FIFA point of view, it is even be possible that they might as well lost the whole ten fixtures.... It is extremely harsh to Liverpool but that is the reality...... The trophy can not just be handed over until that particular competition is complete) Sorry guy! Your obviously hate-filled conspiracy theory won't fly a broom let alone a kite! Unless you are WHO or UEFA or EPL spokesman, please keep your opinions to your self! And besides,if EPL is scrapped,UEFA will also be scrapped.... That also makes your trolling of liverpool's loss and atletico's triumph a null and void situation! Oga park well joor |

Or even a public private partnership on renewable energy. How many Nigerians can afford renewable energy like solar system? Even a load of 10kva will gulp at least 4million naira considering the need to purchase a huge amount of batteries and solar panels to last for at least 21-23 hours in a day! However, not every Nigerian can afford to get such huge investment for power supply! The same senator that is dangling this bill has at least two generating set that he uses when he gets home or to his village! Let the government provide power to everyone 4 for at least 21hours and watch the purchase for generators reduce! This climate change affecting the world, what steps have Nigerian taken to curtail its effect?
All we do is go for UN summits on SDGs and Climate change but how are we contributing to the goal?
Our air pollution is on the increase, we litter the environment and drainage ways with nylons and dirt, we don't have a strong recycling culture, many of us, especially on rural areas still use coal and firewood to Cook.
It really starts with one policy.

bankylan: Ignorance is a big disease as shown by this rubbish you typed. It is very senseless to say generator importers are the cabal working against power sector. You have no understanding of the sector like the people this useless government put in place. Let me educate you...I am an electricity market professional with focus on Energy risk. We have no much problem with generation as we have installed capacity of about 13,000 MW out of which we even supply neighbouring countries because your govt owned TCN can only transmit about 5,000 MW. The first issue to be tackled is the issue of gas pricing and efficient project management planing so that our thermal plants which constitute 80% of our energy source as against 20% for hydro can be guaranteed constant supply of Gas. What has TCN done to increase transmission capacity beyond 5000MW? What does this have to do with Mikano? Besides, we operate a centralised grid that sends all generated power to the national pool before it is sent to where it is needed thus creating inefficiencies and loss. What does a generator importer have to do with this?
All the Discos lack the technical and financial capacity to distribute as they can only distribute a mere 3500MW of the transmitted energy. The average ATC&C loss for the Discos is 40%, how can they perform optimally? Out of the meagre distributed 3500 MW, they don't recieve payment for up to 1000 MW due to energy theft, unwillingness to pay, and debts by ministries, departments and agencies- MDAs. In other words, government is the number debtor and contributor to the liquidity crisis in the industry. To top it all is the ignorance like the one you displayed here of the people running our power sector. How can NERC put a CAPEX limit of 5b on all the Discos and you expect them to increase network capacity? A SCADA system alone costs like 5b naira. There are other technical areas I can't talk about here.
But bros, if anyone has told you that generator importers are killing the power industry, tell such person to please shut up. We live in a world of knowledge and information and the earlier we get informed, the quicker we solve our power problem. You are absolutely right in your submissions! |

A reasonable Nigerian will understand the fact that the more generator companies we have in Nigeria the more our power sector will remain jagajaga. Marapco, Jabaili brothers, Mikano to mention few were brought into the country by the cabal killing our power sector.
FYI, Once you dey area with steady power supply, immediately one filling station enter the area, forget the rest na suffer because they will bribe NEPA official to stop giving you steady light for dem to dey sell.
I stand with the senator. i dont understand how you lots think....are you in naija or are you speaking from another country? even a new born baby knows that there is no constant power supply in naija right now there is zero power in some areas...infact there is an LGA that has had no power for 4 to 5 years!
