What baffles me is that there has been no word from Aso Rock, although no life should be ignored, it's not like the casualties are 2 or 3, they keep increasing in the tens weekly.
The worse is that no one seems to be challenging or asking the presidency questions, taking into account that our Nigerian media are next to useless, when i read about the recent Al Jazeera interview the first thing i looked for was a question on the topic but alas, there was none.

Hmm Nigeria, making me sound like a 50year old man since i was 13. undecided undecided
Wow! I like your political consciousness and it's good for us especially as these guys up there always want to take us for a ride. I was really disappointed too that the issue was not raised during Buhari's Al-Jazeera interview, but Buhari knows about these happenings and has decided to play deaf... So pathetic and irresponsible of a President. But come to think of it, what have the Senate of House of Reps not raised this issue? Ben Bruce has been inactive for sometime now, he too is supposed to do something. I JUST TAYA.

i do think no community or pple should wait anymore, with the story across the nation. every community should braze themselves and even begin to see fulani herdsmen as potential terrorist. and mandate their no coming around communities in their state for no crazy grazing..they have bloods in their hands and have no reason to come around pples communities, talk nothing of coming near their farms..communities should gird themselves against this fulani herdsmen since the government have decided to pretend with deaf ears... wipe them off in a way that it would shake the bone marrows of any crazy tribe that hears about it, even across the world.. even down to their fulani settlement.. that is the only way they can get the message..this medieval nomads are as dormant and even more deaf than their malu's..all your talks and negotiation goes nowhere close to their ears.. shake the tribe and you would really know..that the only language they hear is bombardment and force..the fulani herds men and their tribes put together ryt now needs a deadly O.T...and buhari's reaction, response and immediate action nooowww , is the only thing that myt help them a little to save that their tribe and disorganized business..becos ryt now i am very sure the anger is already boiling and most pple are already planning its implementation..as they (the fulani herdsmen) have already cooked a food they are now mandated to eat...this guys must be crazy...waaat..?
You've hit the nail on the head. The protection of our homelands is a task that must be done, FG or no FG.

So this is my first post on this site after monitoring it for 6 months, I never had any intention of joining it as it was a bit too hate filled for my liking but for this thread and others like it, i had to join to say something.

Everyone is calling the Benue people and others like them cowards but the truth is these people (herdsmen) are surprisingly well armed and it's not like they send an advance notice detailing their arrival, accommodation and plans. Other attacks have brought about details like being ambushed from the bushes.

All i'm saying is that as frustrating as it is for us hearing this news over and over again, we should remember that there's not a lot our older people in the villages can do when you're shot with GUNS in an effort to go pick up your STICKS and CUTLASSES.
Such a pitiable situation. And the useless FG that's suppose to protect lives and properties have completely abandoned these people to their fate.

Hahahaha. You think u're threatening me? What have the fulanis done to avenge the mass slaughter they got from the Ibadan people for trespassing... to the extent that Buhari was wailing before Lam Adesina, then Governor of Oyo statel? Lol.
The Fulani herdsmen are invaders; they invaded and killed people in their sleep. They got what they deserved. My people are peace loving but you cannot threaten me in my own house, be a threat to my life and expect me to keep quiet. Niger-Deltans are not afraid of anyone, and in this case, WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR GOVERNMENT in protecting our homeland.

How is this even Possible, Cameroon and Akwa Ibom state DO NOT share a border!
I was also thinking about this too but if you look at your map properly, you'll see that there's a border between Nigerian and Cameroun in Akwa-Ibom state coastside hence a possibility of territory extension through the sea as Clamoroun wants to do. Remember the report it talking about island coastal communities.

Hmmm. This new dimension of discussion to me is good. Asamaigho, u've said nothing but the truth. Though this lazy trait is not limited to Itsekiris, but sincerely, i've observed it more in Itsekiris, Ijaws and some Urhobo youths- yeah I'm mentioning Urhobo too because if u observe, Urhobo community youths are gaining a whole lot from people buying lands for development around Warri metropolis and some of them are becoming sadly dependent on 'community money' though to a lesser extent compared to Itsekiri or Ijaw. If i should focus on Itsekiri with some history, u'll observe that throughout Itsekiri history, they've never been known to be the working types. Mainly fishing and riverine trade(the Europe trade era comes to mind), Very little farming and so on. Then white collar jobs In recent times due to a substantial level of schooling. D typing don too much but the point is i agree with you, the laziness among our people is too much, the economic race in Nigeria today is for the hardworking and smart; jst look at the Igbos for example, they're clearly taking the lead.

Wen i mean not they recognized, i mean nt popular, hw many Urhobo know the king of such kingdom, Wen people like the ovie of uvwie re talking people like the ovie of Aghara can't stand.. Also The "Olu Of Warri" Has more influence than both, If buhari wants to visit warri, The first person he will pay homage to is the Olu of warri.. That y i say they re nt that recognizable, mind u i know urhobo more than you grin grin
You know Urhobo more than me? Hehehehe, i don't think so. Listen Goodboiyy, Benjamin Okumagba I with his very small Okere-Urhobo Kingdom(arguably the smallest in Urhobo) pulled more influence than many Urhobo hinterland monarchs- Obasanjo visited his Palace alongside Ovie of Uvwie, 'Olu of Warri', and i think Pere of Gbaramatu during the Warri crisis. You must have heard of Chief Essi of Igbudu(1860-1975), the Olotu of Agbarha-Warri. He was the war leader of Agbarha at a time they had no crowned head but due to his influence he was able to establish his authority not just with his Agbarha people but throughout Urhoboland... He became the defender of Urhoboland(Itsekiri sef dey see am run, lol). Ademola Adetokunbo, first Chief Justice of Nigeria heard of his fame and paid a courtesy visit to him in Warri after his retirement. The people who know what is what know them... Hierarchically, Ughelli arguably has the oldest and strongest monarchy in Urhoboland and personally, i see the Ovie of Ughelli(my Ajuwe) and Orodje of Okpe and the most Influential Urhobo kings but we don't have to bellittle anyone. Urhobo o, Ovuovo. Once again u no sabi Urhobo pass me #tongueOut

May God bless The big Three'
Goodboiyy abeg o. Who says those Kingdoms are not recognised in Urhoboland? Well, for the avoidance of doubt, 2 of the 22 Kingdoms which make up Urhoboland, Agbarha-Ame(Agbassa) and Okere-Urhobo Kingdoms in Warri are well recognised in Urhoboland and also by Delta state govt. The monarchs are the Ovie of Agbarha-Warri(Orhifi Ememoh II) and Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo(Late Benjamin, Okumagba I).

Hehehe, i never hear that stowi b4 oo
Hehehe. U don hear am now. Itsekiri modern history dates from the
late fifteenth century when the Itsekiri
people adopted a prince from Benin
Kingdom as their monarch. Prior to this
time, Itsekiri lived independently in
different communities that included
Irigbo, Ureju, Omadino and Ugborodo.
With the arrival of the prince and
adoption of the monarchy. These
communities coalesced to become a
Kingdom. The current monarch is
Ogiame Atuwatse II, who was crowned
at an impressive ceremony in 1987.
History reveals that in several waves of
migration before the 15th Century, and
some a little later, groups from Igala in
Nupe country came in through the
creeks; Yoruba from ljebu-Ode, Akure
and Owo found their way into parts of
the Kingdom and a group from Aboh
also came in. Some along the coast came
in through Gulani/Amatu.

Hmmm. And this is the problem especially in Warri- the Itsekiris will not recognise the Urhobo and Ijaw monarchs and the Urhobos and Ijaws will not recognise the Olu's Warri title and as long as this continues, i don't see real peace in Warri. But lemme take you down memory lane.... The Itsekiris reached a climax of their collective progress at a time where they had no King; After the death of Akengbuwa in 1848 the Itsekiriland entered a period of interragnum(88 yrs) and not until 1936 the Itsekiri had no king but the British treaties of protection were signed with your people during the interragnum... Would you say then that those important events should not be recognised since the Olu did not give consent- there was no Olu to give consent. I suppose you'll agree with me that the traditional authority of Itsekiriland is vested on the Olu hence his office takes responsibility of events which borders on Itsekiri sovereignty whether it was existing at a point or not.
Do you know that the Urhobo people of Okpe also had something similar? Infact their own period of interragnum after the first King is so long that there's no actual record for it hence since the beginning of Okpe monarchy(as old as it is), they've had just four (4) Kings. The people of Okpe revived the title of the Orodje around 1940s, it still took some time and effort before the colonial government recognised his crown in 1942. Fascinating right? Agbon, the 2nd biggest Kingdom/clan in Urhoboland after Okpe had their first king in 1952... Infact of the 22 Kingdoms(Agbarha and Okere inclusive) that make up Urhoboland just a few{Ughelli, Ogor, Eghwu, Agbarha-otor(arguably)} and so on had ancient Kingdoms with Ughelli arguably the oldest with an unbroken line of succession since ancient times but the others had various ways of political administration unique to them. My point is various factors affect people in their political history, and in our own case of the western Delta, the colonial indirect rule system was a very powerful factor in reviving or establishing many of the monarchies we have today, that of Itsekiri inclusive. The monarchies of Agbarha, Okere-Urhobo, Gbaramatu and others receiving recognition from the state govts in 1999 does not mean that they hitherto did not have control over their respective territories. For Justice and peace to reign, we have to live and let live, I'm sorry i had to type this much.

Yeah. The first Olu of Itsekiri is Ginuwa, son of Oba Olua of Benin. Also Itsekiris are also an ancestral mix of mainly Ijebu and Ilaje(Yoruba) + Benin(The royalty). There are also links with Urhobo, Ijaw and even some Igbo( notably Aboh in Delta state) according to trusted historians.

Let me quickly address the issue someone posted a while ago, the word Okere is from what language? Itsekiris or Urhobos? I dont know or cannot comprehend what you mean by unbiased judgement pertaining the Itsekiris - Ijaws statement I made earlier, because, the absolute court slogan is "Prove your case beyond reasonable doubt." Any party who lost his case did not prove his case as such. Also court judgement is taken as final even after several hearings, sittings and all kind of adjournments. Why didnt the Itsekiris say the court judgement concerning Sapele is bias? Sir, I want us to treat every tribe irrespective of our Zones with clear - spirit and open - mind. To you the Itsekiris transferred grudges to the Urhobos, to the Itsekiris you guys (Urhobos) aided the Ijaws in ransacking their abode. Who are we to believe? Lets just bury the hatchet and focus on the future!
That issue pertaining Okere's nomenclature though, well let's just leave it here, as you've said let's bury the hatchet and focus on the future- a future where we'll all know and respect our boundaries that peace will continue to reign.

Troublemakers? I cant say precisely. I was only trying to tell her to stop calling the kettle black when the pot is right there. Does it make sense that the peaceful Ijaws and the Urhobos has Keyamo (Urhobo) acting as the EFCC counsel? Stop the hate, you cant call the Itsekiris Troublemakers in the presence of the Ijaws (hefty Troublemakers). The Itsekiris dragged the ownership of Sapele then to court and after judgement in favour of the Urhobos the Itsekiris never laid a claim. Yet the Ijaws and Itsekiris have taken land cases to courts and the Itsekiris have won countless of times yet the Ijaws wont succumb, WHY? Who is the real Troublemakers in Delta? You be the Judge!!
The courts may not always give an unbias Judgements. See, nobody is a saint. Lemme take u down memory lane... What if the Supreme court gave a bias Judgment against Okumagba of Okere and his people in 1975? Do you think the Okere-Urhobos would rest? Mind you, the Itsekiris still tried to oppose the Okere-Urhobos when they demanded that their traditional ruler, Orosuen be recognised by the state govt. during Ibori's governorship(thank God it did'nt work). I have not also forgotten how the Itsekiris transferred aggression on the people of Okere-Urhobo attacking them during the Warri crisis after some Itsekiri communities were attacked by the Ijaws. Yes, the Ijaws and Urhobos too have fought but those issues have been resolved, we're still here and we know our boundaries. One thing we have to know is we'll forever be neighbours so the earlier we settled our differences amicably, the better for us. In the kingdom of rats, everyone is a thief~ Uhobo adage.
