Thanks Doc ,ur case is simple but complex. simple in d sense dt d symptom of photophobia u re having could b alleviated by using photochromic lenses and complex in d sense dt photophobia as a symptom could b associated with many ocular conditions nd it wld take alot frm taking a thorough case history to clinical examination to unravel. rexbuton: your ophthalmologist is wrong.. contact lenses are better for higher powers such as yours.. moving the CL to the corneal plane would reduce the convergence effect of the high minus on the visual system.. secondly, contact lenses would be more suitable if the powers are different with up to -1.50DS or contains cylinder power of up to -1.25DC, as the CL would reduce the chances of different image sizes in both eyes(anisometropia).. summary be say, CL is better for you.. go and get one from a reliable practitioner na wa fr u so diff retinal image size na anisometropia? abeg correct am sharply. tnk u |

billy187: Hey there Op! 'Optometrist' here. Have you considered Orthokeratology? It improves your vision through the use of a therapeutic contact lens you wear only at night- the contact reshapes your cornea so you don't need glasses or contacts throughout the day. And its reversible! ortho k lenses cnt fully correct a myopia as high as -6. |

dabarpharmacy: THE HUMAN EYE Have you ever wondered what life will look like without your eyes, have you given time to think of the immense impact your eyes have on your overall wellbeing? True we know the eye is important but how important? Give this a try. Close your eyes for a couple of minutes and try to walk around… What did you experience? Well then, as a part of the body, it needs care. About health defines The eye as an organ that detects light and sends signals along the optic nerve to the brain. In humans, the eye is a valuable sense organ that gives us the ability to see. It allows for light perception and vision, including the ability to differentiate between colors and depth. Although small in size, the eye is a very complex organ. The eye is approximately 1 inch wide, 1 inch deep and 0.9 inches tall. The human eye has a 200-degree viewing angle and can see 10 million colors and shades. Now that’s amazing isn’t it? … 10 Million colours and shades. I feel we should share on what it takes to care for this all important part of our bodies. Truth is it does not require much compared to what it offers. I promise, it would be worth your time. EYE CARE Eat for Good Vision Protecting your eyes starts with the food on your plate. Really I think everything about the human body is traceable to our plates. My boss mentions this all the time – Let Thy Food Be Thy Medicine. And I add, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E might help ward off age-related vision problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts. Regularly eating these foods can help lead to good eye health: Green, leafy vegetables, Fish, Eggs, Nuts, Beans, and other non-meat protein sources. Fruits like Oranges and other citrus fruits or juices are not an option in eye care. Eating a well-balanced diet also helps you maintain a healthy weight, which makes you less likely to get obesity-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in adults. Wear Sunglasses This is not just about fashion and trends. It is about your EYES. The right kind of sunglasses will help protect your eyes from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. Too much UV exposure makes you more likely to get cataracts and macular degeneration. Choose sunglasses that block 99% to 100% of both UVA and UVB rays.
Use Safety Eyewear For some people, this is not an option. Some professions and career path have work to do along the lines of chemicals, substances and machines that can harm the eye. Professionals in this paths should ensure the adherence to work safety rules. If you work with hazardous or airborne materials on the job or at home, wear safety glasses or protective goggles every time and I mean EVERY TIME. Certain sports such as ice hockey, racquetball, and lacrosse can also lead to eye injury. Wear eye protection (such as helmets with protective face masks or sports goggles with polycarbonate lenses) to shield your eye Look Away From the Computer Screen Computers are essentially a part of our lives, no gainsaying. Staring at a computer screen for too long can cause: • Eyestrain • Blurry vision • Trouble focusing at a distance • Dry eyes • Headaches • Neck, back, and shoulder pain These steps will help to keep our eyes from the negative effects constant use of the computer may have on it. Make sure your glasses or contact lens prescription is up-to-date and adequate for computer use. Some people may need glasses to help with contrast, glare, and eye strain when using a computer. Position your computer so that your eyes are level with the top of the monitor. This allows you to look slightly down at the screen. Try to avoid glare on your computer from windows and lights. Choose a comfortable, supportive chair. Position it so that your feet are flat on the floor. If your eyes are dry, blink more. Every 20 minutes, rest your eyes by looking 20 feet away for 20 seconds. At least every 2 hours, get up and take a 15-minute break. This might be a little difficult for some professionals 15 minutes off the work table? Anyway, it is not a hard and fast rule, just take A BREAK. Lastly, nature has not left us without help. Several fruits, vegetables and herbs(as mentioned earlier) contains properties that help in eye care. Science has brought this together into easy to use forms. Your eye needs LUTEIN. This link leads to eye wellness. http://dabarpharmacy.com/133-eye-care[img][/img] nice BT d first step in taking care of d eye is going for an eye check to tel if its healthy and den maintaining d healthy status |
