This is the type of mindset our Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani compatriots have that if Igboland has any infrastructure, their area will collapse. One of the things that i hate about Nigerians is absolutism in all their reasoning. Everything is either extremely black or extremely white and there is no middle ground for anything else. The morbid fear that if another airport develops, Enugu airport will mysteriously die is part of the extreme mindset of reasoning common among Nigerians. This is why in some villages never develop,because those who built a fine house in the 1960s kill off the younger men trying to build houses because they believe nobody else should have a decent house except themselves.. What will happen is that some airlines may prefer to fly to Anambra and some others like Ethiopian will maintain their Enugu dominance. People used to flying Turkish airline for example may like to use Anambra airport, while those used to the Addis Ababa route may choose Ethiopian. In many Cities of the world (Note that i said cities and not even states, there are two viable airports. investnow2013:Great shots investnow2013! I love how everyone now drill borehole for water needs in the houses for the residents. This is another responsibility of government which we know they will never provide such infrastructure as piping water to every home. Thus, everyone providing their own borehole or wells and pumping water into a reservoir largely takes care of water needs in a typical Nigerian home. I think the government can legislate that every house must drill a well or a borehole for those who can afford. Then water MUST be pumped into a surface reservoir through a pump. So that the wells are sealed and not become sources of water born diseases if they are open hand dug wells we used to have in Nigeria. The next move is to allow private individuals to generate power and distribute to limited areas or cities. That will solve the issues of chronic lack of power in Nigeria. The more you remove responsibility for anything from the government and hand it over to private companies, the better the services. See how all of a sudden telephones work in Nigeria because it was finally removed from control of government. Once government touches anything, they kill it with corruption and ineptitude. 4 Likes

yanshDoctor:Niger State alone has land mass of SE and SS combined. Yet, not much people live there. Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano,Jugawa,Katsina and many others have massive uncultivated landmass. The FG should develop those open areas and leave places where families are already doing juju for an inch of land alone. Unless of course this is a tactics to annex those places gradually using this smokescreen of cattle colonies. |

Yyeske:  Oga, You are already crying because i gave you the interpretation of your senseless post. If your concern was to have roads into the areas, then articulate exactly what you mean. Instead of targeting real estate when you are talking about roads. Faced with your silly suggestion of stopping estate development in Anambra until all infrastructure from the government is put in place and you are already denying yourself. Everyone knows the importance of roads development in creating the Anambra mega city project. Some of the roads can simply not be built now based on the level of finances available. Thus, the suggestion to make adequate space for such key arterial roads as estate development occur so that in the future they can be built without much demolitions. Chime Avenue Enugu is example of such. It was always marked out as a dual carriage since early 1960s. However, the funds were only available in 2002 when Chimaroke was Governor and he did it without any demolitions because people simply were prevented from building too close to the single lane road that existed for decades. That is what everyone has been saying. MAKE PROVISION FOR FUTURE EXPANSION OF ROADS INTO DUAL CARRIAGE WAYS NOW, even when the funds to build all that infrastructure does not exist. BUT DO NOT STOP REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT BECAUSE THE GROWING POPULATION NEED DECENT HOMES TO ACCOMMODATE THEM. Despite what you think is "massive" estate development, we haven't even reach solving just half the housing deficit in Anambra. In Onitsha today, people pay 0ne year in advance for buildings still under construction just to have flats allocated to them. The rate of new building should be 5 times what it currently is right now. All those advocating for 11 million Igbos in the north to relocate to the SE, where do you think they will live if they left the north today and there are not enough available and affordable residential flats in the SE to-let? All the houses you think are too many presently in Anambra will not fit all of them even if you asked everyone presently living in Anambra right now to vacate their homes for the returnees. That is why i advocate opening up new areas on the northern fringes of Onitsha and Awka where ample land exist. Nkisi road from GRA Onitsha needs to be dualized all the way to Aguleri so that real estate developers can have all the land in that axis to build. The same way the road from Awka to Achalla needs to be dualized to open up the northern fringes of the state capital for development. Of course the major dual carriage linked with wide dual carriage streets in each easte to cater for future massive population that will eventually live there. We need those houses desperately just as we need the Government to make sure every major street in the new estate is wide enough for a dual carriage road , even if only a single carriage can be afforded in the interim.. 3 Likes |

Then sleep in a hotel or inconvenience family members by trying to save pennies avoiding to stay in Lagos hotels. Then then embark on grueling 8-9 hours road trip to the East. The silliness of such itinerary is the equivalence of somebody who is coming to Lagos or Ibadan, but chooses to first land in Accra, Ghana and then take a 6 hours road trip to Lagos or fly a smaller unsafe plane to Lagos or Ibadan! When they could have flown directly into Lagos intl. from their origin in Europe or America instead of first going to Accra. Many Igbo folks abroad are so out of date that they don't even know that there is a new Intl. airport in Enugu! I say this because i know many that laugh when i tell them and think it's untrue. You know our people are very stubborn set of human beings to convince once they knew something a certain way in the past. So many of them that left Nigeria 20 years ago through Lagos airport still think only Lagos is the international airport in Nigeria till date. Folks need to fly directly to Enugu and stop complicating their trips and unnecessarily risking their lives in unnecessary road trips and local flights. . 11 Likes

Perhaps ask folks to go and build in Benue, Kontangora until the plan for Anambra is out. Meanwhile the housing deficit in the state should just be ignored. If people pay 6 months in advance to find a flat still under construction, even if they wait 5 years in advance, to get a flat it shouldn't matter so long as you or your family are not the ones affected. 2 Likes |

With all the big lobby downstairs,Kitchen and Laundry, i'm wondering how many rooms will be left for lodging upstairs. Like 5 rooms? Unless he plans to build another set of rooms by the side. Then you wonder where will the pool be and parking? Anyhow, kudos to anyone trying to create jobs in their community no matter how small. Please always blur out people's faces when you post. If you won't want me to take your picture at a function and post your image on NL, you can do those people a little respect by blurring out their faces.It's just a basic etiquette to respect other people's rights and privacy. Gabrinoz:Sen. Sani is actually very qualified to be president of a diverse state as Nigeria. He understands democracy, he understands the diversity of Nigeria but he lacks executive experience. BUT, i personally prefer Atiku because most of the big dogs holding Nigeria hostage can be checkmated by Atiku's immense political experience and grassroot support spread almost uniformly across Nigeria. |
