Xander85: I have a feeling Dr Ikeanumba has been following this thread! Like you said, he's going along with most of our suggestions these past few months. Just goes to show that what we're doing here isn't a wasted effort.
I would like to see all umbrella state diaspora associations to key into what their Enugu kinsfolk are doing. First on a state level, and the on a Pan-Igbo level. The pan-Igbo one could be concerned with generally promoting Igbo social, economic and political interests and values. This could include promotion of the Igbo language; a intra-state rail network; linking the SE by rail to at least one seaport, and supporting/part-financing at least one economic enabler in each state (like coal or gas fed power stations, airports, inland river ports, improving tourist potentials, agriculture, etc).
Also, i think it would be better if they used the stock market as a platform to raise the money they need. The way they're doing it now, it's only open to a few thousand people who are members of the respective diaspora organisations, and this would limit the amount they're able to raise. But if they were to raise the money via the stock market, it could then be open to not just the diaspora organisation members abroad, but millions of Igbos both at home and abroad. Doing it via the stock market would also engender confidence and the money would be secure and managed better. If there's enough publicity and confidence in the scheme, it could raise at least $5 Billion in ten years, and it would also be easier to enter partnerships with bodies like the World Bank and countries with billions of dollars of spare funds to invest like China. If he is following the thread, it shows he is a great leader. Part of the reason for poor leadership in Igboland has been very poor vision of its leaders. Poor vision starts with the mindset that you alone know it all and know all the answers to the world's problems. You will simply end up like Buhari trying to restrict dollar flow and almost crashing the country's economy because he thought he knew international trade, but in truth he knew just as mush as a goat would understand economics and economic planning. Vision comes from both inspiration and developing other peoples' ideas into practicable forms. Most Igbo leaders often think of themselves as all knowing and omnipotent to even learn any concrete ideas from anyone. So they waste their time in leadership position eating bitterleaf soup and chopping goat head pepper soup, and doing one tiny project, like Mbadinuju that always went to Onitsha main market to pray every Monday morning, as if that is all to life. I thank God for a bold visionary leader like Obiano. In just 4 years, Anambra is now a state known with flyovers and high quality of finished products like hotels and mall.Investors are helped so that they can come into the state. Enugu, Ebonyi and to some extent Imo are also lucky with bold visionary leaders at last. Especially Governors of Enugu and Ebonyi states. Leaders who think big in developing what the state needs to prosper. Not leaders who would call a party because they donated 20 textbooks to an elementary school. My Abia which should be a natural leader in SE business, innovation, investment, solid infrastructure, education and boom of new housing layout has sadly taken a back seat in these matters for far too long. Aba which is arguably the Kano of the SE has failed to lead the region in business and manufacturing basically due to decayed infrastructure within the city. Onitsha has since taken over as the undisputed economic powerhouse of the SE. Abia seems to have gotten a fair leader finally, but the problems he inherited from the 2 Kalus that ruined the state for 16 solid years has made my Abia to remain the backward one in current trend to development. |

Meanwhile Nigeria has cross 1.1tr dollar from 430b dollars during your ineffectual buffoon era.
Buhari is really work and the jobless aggressive lazy idiotic pigs of Biafra terrorist can not see this achievement of sai buhari till 2023. The problem with you people is politicizing everything. Even a serious issue like Nigeria being surpassed by Egypt in size of our economy. Nigerian economy has NEVER been bigger than Saudi economy. Egypt surpassed Nigeria since 2016 and the media hid the information from us making us to think that the rebasing of our economy in 2014 to become the biggest in Africa was still the current status. To surpass Egypt we now have to grow at about 9 - 10% per annum and hope that Egypt grows at 1%. Sadly, we are the ones growing at <1% since 2016 and Egypt growing robustly at 4-5% since then. So the gap will naturally widen more in a few years and Nigeria can never reclaim the position of Africa's largest economy in this lifetime. |

Government wants to provide everything instead of just regulating it to make sure companies don't rip off Nigerians.
Just tell GLO, MTN, AIRTEL and other companies to offer an Unlimited monthly internet plan. Every country in the world has that type of plan. Nigerians can have internet in their homes for a fixed amount every month whether they used the internet or not. In this way, people can plan and budget for internet as they budget for all other fixed costs at home.
The problem with internet penetration in Nigeria is that they charge you by data use. This makes internet unavailable because your data might finish anytime and then you have to reload again. The companies know that it won't cost them anything to give Nigerians monthly uninterrupted internet access at an affordable rate. But they prefer to charge you based on usage because of greed. Similar to when MTN started per minute billing and pretended they could not do per second billing because they loved ripping Nigerians off by charging them for a whole minute, even if they used only 5 seconds for their call.
Government only needs to regulate these telecoms companies very well. |

These are some of the serious crimes that lead to ethnic tension and strife in the country when the government just treats it as a non-issue.
I know Buhari hates IPOB and wishes they were all dead, but these are Nigerian citizens who have been unjustifiably taken away from their homes and killed in extra judicial way by the security agents. These excesses should be addressed now before it becomes something else down the line. |

Handsomegod: I do not know what you are aware of but i know for sure the only two fully functional steel mills in Nigeria are in Nnewi (affiliated to Innoson and serves Nnewi industrial cluster) and Aba (forgotten the name of the man that owns it). Just to buttress this further,i know Igbos provide the core of indigenous technical aspect of oil servicing/services operations. Most indigenous fabrication of tools and implements including tank farms, tankers, local drillers etc are all produced in Aba. Indigenous technology which would have kick-start Nigeria drive to development rests with us but am sure no mainstream media will tell the story. I don't know if you are right, but i sure hope what you have said is true. Since 1970, the northern dominated federal government has tried to deny SE of two industries CEMENT Industry & STEEL ROLLING MILLS They always wanted construction in the SE to use northern Nigeria cement and steel, even when SE has abundant Limestone deposit (Cement) and Niger Steel. I am hoping that the steel mills in Asaba and Onitsha are actually functional and supplying the Eastern market with high quality steel products such as rods for durable construction. I have told people that all the houses built in the 1970s and 1980s in the SE have not collapsed due the the quality of Nigercem cement and Niger steel products used in them. Today we are told that Dangote is giving us 42.5 R portland Cement which nobody has tested to know why buildings built with that cement usually collapse during construction or shortly after. Nigerian government will not investigate, because it is in their interest that no alternative quality cement be found for the SE market.

Not only that they come to Nigeria, they come into Nigeria to settle and marry, hence the increase in their population coupled with the fact that their religion permits more wives and children.
Remember that our borders are porous and Nigeria is an attractive country to those fulanis in Niger. If you go to the north east and see how fulanis from Niger are trooping into Nigeria, you will shake your head for this country. Note that you can't differentiate Niger fuanis from Nigeria fulanis because they are the same people.... The only difference is British demarcation ( Nigeria) If these I mentioned above continues like this, why won't they outnumber you in years to come (if they have not outnumbered us as you claim ?)
Why is Buhari building a rail way that connected Niger and Nigeria ? What's our business with those backward people/ country ?. Even if he must connect such rail way, why not connect it to other productive locations ?. His intention is nothing but dominance using his Fulani brothers in Niger as tools and nothing more. The only thing that will save this country is total restructuring or balkanization. Whether Buhari builds railway to Libya, it is their business. They will finally realize that it is better to fix Nigeria, than look for solace with other nomadic tribes in the desert. I don't believe having children we cannot take care of is a way to survive in Nigeria. Nigeria will ultimately dismember either through violence or peacefully unless it restructures. It is likely to restructure as soon as oil runs out. So either way, it does not make sense to breed like rats because northerners have done so. |

Cjrane2: GBAM!
The people we are asked to copy have run down a wealthy nation like Nigeria. Stolen all the wealth to northern Nigeria, yet remained the poorest region in the world. They cannot stand the Igbos in 30 days of serious warfare if they didn't get help and arms supplied by Britain etc.
We must not copy the folly of Fulanis in things like breeding children they cannot take care of. It is silly and against Igbo tradition and civilization. The same Fulanis have tried everything in their power to marginalize and destroy Igbos for decades, yet they could not. Even when Igbos decided not to retaliate and push forward with building a "One Nigeria" for all. That is where our own silliness is bigger than stupidity of other Nigerians. We have fed ourselves bogus lies about Nigeria and have failed to wake up from those fake illusions we conjured about Nigeria inspite of glaring evidence to the contrary.
The question every Igboman should ask himself today is "Who benefits more from my sweat and business?" Is it my homeland in Igboland or the same Fulani and some Yoruba collaborators that have left no stone unturned to annihilate and impoverish me and my relatives. If something happened in Nigeria today and i am forced to suddenly leave this place, do i have enough wealth elsewhere not to end up a poor man for the rest of my life? If after a careful assessment, you realize that you are working for your enemies to benefit from your sweat by simply issuing a "QUIT NOTICE", then you must take steps to redress it ASAP!
As other Nigerians do, Igbos should learn to patronize their own. Buy with pride products of factories based in Igboland, use banks that have Igbos in their highest positions or better owned by Igbos, invest in businesses that will profit you and help our people overcome the dangerous dependence on Fulani herdsmen for food and animal protein.
The time to think strategically and pool resources together to benefit yourself, your family, your state, your homeland and your people has come.
Igbos be alert and strategic in your thinking and actions today. Tomorrow might be too late for us to reverse all these mistakes we have been making thinking of Nigeria as perpetually "One Country". There are several reason to see that it is indeed false hope that we have fed ourselves for decades. Let us wake up and have a deep re-think.
Nkwucha abughi ujo ! Taa bu gboo! Igbos in the north and unstable parts of Nigeria who cannot see the hand writing on the wall should be sorry for themselves. Those in other parts of the country should also take steps to secure themselves. But those in the north are the number one priority to secure themselves quickly especially as the turbulent 2019 elections approaches. |

Ofodirinwa: New areas aren't the issue, people aren't moving because they lack housing. People are moving because they believe they'll make money elsewhere.
I think the push away from make-shift businesses like opening shops, and local transport systems like Okada and Danfo make the situation worst. All of these things have to be there, and more markets have to be opened for people to start staying home.
I saw a study that counted the benefits of Igbos staying in their home state. It said that off the money an Abian makes, a higher percentage of it returns to him village if he lives in Abia than if he lives elsewhere. Of all of the states, Abia and Anambra has the highest return on investment on their indigenes because they're more likely to stay. Imo had the worst, Enugu was a little better than Imo.
So I said what's the difference in the states fairing better than the ones fairing worst and how can we expand that differentiating factor to make staying at home more appealing.
Then i saw it. Anambra has Onitsha main market, Aba has Aba Market. These are places where young men with little can go to make a name for themselves. They don't have to go to Alaba if they don't want to. Imo doesn't have this. Enugu doesn't either. Anambra and Abia also have an industrial based developed in and around this major markets.
Imo need to open a major, easy entry market in Orlu. Enugu needs to do the same in whichever location is more strategic. As big as or bigger than the ones in Onitsha and co. the Orlu zone has the densest population of people and communities in the whole of Igboland without having a major urban center. Opening a major market there will not only keep the sells put, it will also keep the buyers put. People will be able to live in their village and make a short drive to their place of work and business. I propose and electronics market because easterners are still going to Lagos to buy electronics. I agree that we need to open more big markets in Owerri, Orlu . But they need to be unique selling different niches and commodities. Else they will fail |

Those false assets you are writing would not change the fact that she has stated.
Only Igbos silly enough will fall for your ploy and continue burying their treasure in strange, hostile places. When northern youths gave Igbos quit notice, they told them to take all moveable assets that they could and then issued an instruction to their people that nobody should buy any house from Igbos. Those thinking they could quickly liquidate their assets were effectively looking at another abandoned property saga had the northerners not changed their mind at the last minute.
Igbos should stop neglecting their zone and acting as unwanted development minded soldier-ants for hostile peoples and their regions.
Your silly epistle up there will ONLY interest Yorubas and people like that. Remember that despite your campaign of calumny against Stella Odua, she still won the senatorial election? Just like you people love Awolowo despite all his criminal behavior, attacking Stella Oduah changes nothing. Instead it makes her stronger as an amazon.Mandela was also labelled a terrorist by the racist apartheid government, it didn't stop his people from recognizing him as a freedom fighter.
Even Dangote, the richest man in Africa still finds a way to invest in the arid north without any viable economic opportunities. Why should the Igbos neglect their own region
So correct! They are attacking the woman for speaking the truth. Well, only Igbos so daft as not to see the hand writing on the wall will fall for their usual gimmick. I have stopped being sympathetic to Igbos especially in the far north when their houses or businesses are burnt down. We all know abooki people will do these things when we build in their area. Expect your investment to be vandalized or burnt if somebody insults Mohammed in North Korea. In the SW, they will levy heavy taxes on you that you will simply be working to pay taxes . The President seeks unconstitutional rights to confiscate property of anyone he does not like under the guise of fighting corruption.
The President sends the police to best up any opposition state governor he does not like.
The President borrows billions of dollars and spends it as he likes without any legislative approval .

cjrane: The ONLY way to cope with limited & expensive land and cater for the massive population of school leavers joining the job market, getting married and looking for a decent accommodation is to build 4-5 storey buildings in the East. If you build bungalow, not everyone will be able to afford it and not enough land to accommodate everyone decently.
I thank those who have persistently built for themselves and others through building the commercial buildings. At the same time, those who have made money and require a quiet decent home, can build duplexes in Independence Layout Phase 2. Last year , Ohaneze did a census and estimated that about 21 million Igbos live outside the SE. Although we don't know if the number is accurate. But, even if it's 10 million, we still need to find a way to build more mass housing. We know government alone cannot even meet 0.5% of that housing need, so private sector must be given all the support by government to build more houses. I am appealing to the SE governors to OPEN UP a new estate in every major city for private developers to have access to land. 1. If Onitsha has a big new area in Nkwelle Ezunaka and 2. Awka has new area in agu Awka, and 3. Aba has new areas in Osisioma, and Ogbor hills, 4. Umuahia has new areas towards Ubakala road, 5. Enugu has new areas at Emene, ninth mile and Ugwuaji, 6. Even new areas created around Obigbo and PH by Rivers State governmentIt will help a lot is solving the acute accommodation crisis in southeast cities. I am appealing to people who have foresight to encourage our governors to mererly take a bulldozer and open up new roads into new areas. ANSMEDIA: Anambra Targets Improved Power Supply, Inaugurates Committee.
In another move to improve power supply in the State, the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has set up the Power sector Development Committee.
Inaugurating the committee at the Governors Lodge Amawbia,Governor Obiano charged the members to liaise with relevant agencies and persons in the power sector, to ensure enhanced power supply to persons and industries in the state.
Obiano further urged the committee to explore better ways of generating electricity through renewable energy, and exploit opportunities from the state's huge gas reserves. The committee has a two year mandate to complete this task, and may be expanded in the course of time. This is great. Anambra should have private individuals invest in small 1 mega watt power plans to supply specific neghborhoods. For instance one person can have a power plant that supplies just GRA Onitsha or Awka, another person has power plant to supply parts of Awada and Ime Obosi, another for Omagba or Woliwo, another for Enu-Onitsha and fegge etc. In this way, gradually, enough power will be generated to cover all the neighborhoods and industrial areas. The same principle should also be used for water supply. Build small neighborhood water supply systems with big overhead tanks and boreholes to pump water into the tanks. Then pipe the water to people in each neighborhood and collect a stipend monthly as water levy to maintain the system and pay staff. |

After the creation of Anambra state the only thing we got was Premier Breweries and Main Market but every institution bot academic, recreation, business went to Enugu, it never stopped there our asses were kicked out too from government ministries and departments . Jim Nwobodo hated agba-enu people so much that he only planted flower at Zik Round about but concentrated development in Enugu urban. Anambra state benefited nothing, nothing whatsoever. They keep calling us ndi ogwu ego, yet I'm yet to see an Anambra person frowning at the tag, they keep repeating the profiling every day but we live like nothing happen Truth is that our Igbo brothers in Enugu and to a good extent Ebonyi treated us very badly after states creation. But we must forgive all that to move forward as Ndigbo. Also the complete lack of responsible government in Anambra compounded the problem of development. Thank God for Peter Obi and Obiano who finally took charge to make Anambra have some order and development. For a long time, Anambra was the ONLY Igbostate without a state university or teaching hospital. Without a viable state capital or other vital governmental institutions. Without security and where people built all sorts of illegal structures everywhere and there was no responsible government that even cared. I am happy all that has changed now. Anambra is also the ONLY southeast and Southsouth state where Okada operate in the state capital and major cities. Of course that will also change soon. We also need to forgive what other did and some are still doing. I like how a major street in Awka was renamed Abakaliki street to placate Ebonyi people living in Anambra. We always balance our interest not to jeopardize the interest of Igbo nation. Our brothers in Enugu and Ebonyi don't seem to care about this at all when they act. One hopes that when issues concerning Ndi Anambra arise in their state, they will reciprocate with good behavior. |
