It's kind of hard for people to see what I represent. I'm detrabalized, multicultural and will always stand up for injustice irrespective of who is hurt. Some folks here will rather douse the truth because it'll hurt their gender or tribe or religious affiliation. I believe that you can never forge ahead if you keep lying to yourself and from the responses so far, it seems the feminine gender is working too hard to hold the facade they have on men. It's not an issue of gender attack but whether it's the truth that most women actually cheat on their partners(including me) mentally but will turn around to for physically visiting another honey pot. The bible says, 'For you shall know the truth and only the truth shall set you free'. |
The rate at which cheating is defined these days makes me ponder whether the usual 1:8(women:men) ratio for cheating is accurate. Men take part in both physical and mental cheating but if wives/GF's or husbands/Boyfriends must take action based on mental cheating, who will be spared? Are women not becoming hypocrites gradually for blasting men on their wayward ways when we cheat on the same men mentally? Will you consider and treat mental cheating the same way you'll do to physical cheating if you catch your partner doing it? What about hiding some information from your spouse, will it also constitute to cheating? |
I apologize. Just wanting to drive home the point that there is no such thing as a valid acceptable excuse for a 28 year old woman, living in Nigeria, holding a Bachelors in Accounting, should not be able to Speak and write good English, enough to get her a job , better still enough to teach a primary school English Class. Why in the world do the entrance exams stress the need for students to pass the verbal aptitude tests to qualify, if it is of no relevance??Do you also agitate for the press to continously and aggressively disgrace any graduate found wanting in that area by publishing their names in the national dailies? |
However, the importance of English as a communicative, teaching, and learning instrument cannot be over-emphasized ![]() |
Well, personally, i think a man should obey a Womans desire considering all the sacrifices she has to make, but in Reality its hardly done,I think the 50-50 thing in a relationship is non existent and a total fairy tale. It's either the man captains the ship or the woman takes over. There must be an imbalance in a relationship for both to work together in accordance. In my case, as long as you don't disrespect me, dictate my roles for me, reduce me to a plate of food, I wouldn't care less if you captain the ship tll the end of time afterall uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. |
What about Papa Ajasco by Wale Adenuga?Only God knows how rich he would've been if he was producing his stuff in America. |
It is 'selective obedience' if we allow our husbands to become dictators! No, but if we are not careful we may read a different thing from a man's tone and misinterprete it as a command, smae goes for men that hide under laziness because allegedly, people will call them 'woman wrapper'. |

Lol at known in Africa and beyond, lol by who? hairdressers? and people selling the bootleg copies for crack in Harlem. That is what you are proud of? SA have their movies shown INTERNATIONALLY, getting INTERNATIONAL awards and all you ahve to brag about is a bunch of cookcook watching the same tired story lines. Get some standards osisi. For your country's sakeThis is why I said before that there are so many trollers that are dumb on this site. Since when did the box office target only the American professional audience to pronounce a movie as a success? Does that mean that Sunny Ade or Osadebe's success in the music industry was because they only played for Kings and queens? Fela is arguably the greatest musician from Africa and last time I checked, he appealed more to touts, truants, crackheads and professionals. How long did it take black people in America to score awards in movies? I think y'all need to watch movies directed by Izu Ojukuw(Across the Niger,GL2,Laviva etc), Chico Ejiro or Teco Benson(Xplosion etc) and see whether there shouldn't be a rethink in this Nollywood bashing. Every movie industry has it's own series of low profile productions unless any of you know one that has only world standard movies. |
This is discrimination to the highest order. |
Nollywood Stars, Aki And Pawpaw Face Ban April 23, 2008 13:48 Tint-sized Nollywood actors, Chinedu Ikhedieze(Aki) and Osita Iheme (Pawpaw) may be banned by Marketers and Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) any moment from now. The Board of Trustees of AGN will not only ban the duo from taking adult roles in movies but also be discouraged from roles that do not portray good morale to their viewers, especially the teenagers. NollywoodReel gathered that this decision was made by the AGN Board of Trustees, following complaints by parents in the country. According to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ifeanyi Dike, letters will be sent to the Guild of Marketers and the Ejike Asiegbu-led AGN for further action. “We have been receiving letters on this issue from some concerned parents for sometime now, but we didn’t take the matter seriously at first. But now, we are taking action because the letters keep coming,” Dike said. The Eze Ndigbo Nollywood said the parents are concerned about the immoral roles played by Aki and Pawpaw in movies, claiming that it has negative influence on their children. “So, right now, Aki and Pawpaw will not take such roles that require them to be smoking, romancing women or peeping at mothers or women in bathrooms. This is because they are role models and ambassadors to innocent teenagers out there who think they are age mates,” he said. Dike also noted that “although most of these films are meant to be watched by viewers above 18 years, we all know that it has not been enforced in Nigeria. Children/teenagers watch any film so the only thing we can do is to screen the movies that we do,” says Dike. “Aki and Pawpaw are role models to kids because they help some companies to advertise products like biscuit, sweets among others. So we want them to do more responsible roles,” he said. Chinedu and Osita came to limelight some years back with the movie Aki and Pawpaw and have long become regular faces in Nollywood presentations. http://thepmnews.com/2008/04/23/nollywood-stars-aki-and-pawpaw-face-ban |
Aisha2; northerners are forever complaining about everything from nollywood to the economy being monopolised by the south. What is YOUR contribution as a group to Nigeria? This is the kind of stereotypical comments here that strikes my angst. If Aisha made a comment because of her limited mind, does that mean the whole hausa ethnic group should be bashed for that? Calling them beggars abi? Go ahead while your people kneel for them for FG contracts. As for me, if any tribe feels unrespresented in Ibowood, they can as well create theirs. There are lots of non Ibo stars in Ibowood like omotola,Olu,Joke, Ini edo, Mike ezuroye etc. I don't know why this is a problem afterall Nollywood was created from the ibo movie industry. It may take years to balance the ethnic equation. I don't necessarily think that if Nollywood was anchored by Yorubas, it won't be the same number of people representing it. Yoruba movies are strictly done in yoruba language, the so called Nollywood/ibowood movies are done in 75% english and 25% ibo with ibo soundtracks. Does that not send a message? I think they adopted english language in their movies to reach a wider audience. |

Iyabo Obasanjo: Senate Has Withdrawn Support -Aliero From Saka Ibrahim in Birnin Kebbi , 05.05.2008 Former Governor of Kebbi State , Senator Adamu Aliero, said at the weekend, that the Senate has withdrawn its support for Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, over the N300million health ministry scandal, to allow the rule of law take its course. Aliero, after a meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi, told reporters that the Senate was not taking sides. He said when she first briefed the Senate, it was convinced that she had no case, adding that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) later came up with additional information, which proved contrary. Aliero said since then, the Senate handed-off the case, leaving the EFCC to carry out its assignment. He said, "the Senate is not out to protect Obasanjo-Bello, the fact is that when she initially briefed us, we thought she had no case, but later the EFCC came up with additional information on the case. So, based on that, we said we have withdrawn our support to allow justice and the rule of law to prevail.” Aliero also commended the judiciary for confirming Saidu Dakingari as the governor of the state, alleging that the lower tribunal committed a blunder by annulling the election, based on his PDP membership card. He said it was unfortunate that the state election petition tribunal agreed that PDP scored the highest votes during the last governorship election in the state, adding that the election was free and fair. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=110586 |
No, I don't have any problem with Ekiti. I only have problem with people that deny Ekiti and claim they are from WestChester unless there is a local government in Ekiti called Westchester. I can only remember Ikerre, Efon Alaye, Ise,Ode,Ikole,Ado etc but no WestChester. As for me, I can never come from Baltimore. I've worked there before but can never come from WestChester, Hollywood, Brooklyn,Bverly Hills etc, I'm from Ilesha. |
First off, even moderators have minds of their own but I have no idea what that even has to do with anything or even this debate.Shouldn't they exercise some form of control and try to be civil at all costs even amidst heated debates? There you go pointing to GW bush and other people when this story is about a woman in Nigeria who cannot speak or write good English. She was denied a job with a secondary school as an intern cause of this. Can you expertly correlate her job denial with her english proficiency? What if there are tribal sentiments involved? You are yet to justify the media publishing her name and subjecting her to public ridicule when she did not commit any crime? Will you be happy if a multinational company do the same to you in the national dailies because you failed a simple java test? How many college graduates do you know of that were denied internships cause they could not speak good EnglishThere is always a reason to deny, fire or hire us all. Banks in Nigeria hire people that are less qualified than others all the time and can justify it even at the supreme court. In America, it's not only your degree that speaks, it's a total package that leans heavily on your PR and race so don't be surprised you'll be bounced from a teaching job if you apply to become a professor in a university here even though you are a smart alec. That is life, even if the girl is a complete 'ode' that somehow passed through the system, it's not a reason to claim that the whole Nigerian students are half baked. When I was in Creighton, the best foreign students came from Nigeria and they already had a first degree in Nigeria. If they were that bad, how come they turned around to humiliate even the smart Chinese students here? . Every single person on this thread has pointed out that this is not about speaking IMPECCABLE English or BEING perfect in the language but simply about being able to effectively communicate your idea as best you canDo you have any proof that she cannot communicate effectively in the language since the same article claims she speaks only Ibo and serves in hausaland? Was she speaking ibo to them to get around, buy food, enter okada etc? Being able to communicate in a language is relative and can only be figured out to a degree of uncertanty. English is a language, it's not mathematics where you can effectively guess who's average, below average or above average. More than 80% of people I hear that criticize people for bad english commit blunders while expressing their disgust in the same language. Sounds like apot calling kettle black to me. . |
Baltimore is a city in MD and OsunAmazon does not live in Baltimore. Anyway, you are not from west whatever, you are actually from Ekiti abi? |
One thing is being stupid, another is calling a whole generation ugly because they are dark complexioned. Either way, you win and you can be light skinned for all I care but you still remain a bloody negro. Wannabe oyibos here dey make me laugh. Tar black? it's people that make fools out of themselves. I'm sure that 90% of us here from the western part of Nigeria are dark complexioned and what a shame for a fellow westerner to think that 90% of us are ugly not because of the way we reason or behave but because of our complexion. It's all good, thank God the world seems to think differently and beyond skin colors. No wonder ibo boys make money from your likes selling steroids. I may be TAR black but am happy, athletic, healthy and DAMN gorgeous. "Ghetto is good for nobody"-Tupac Shakur. |
Obedience comes in accordance to what is requested from me.Good but are you suggesting we obey selectively? Selective obedience leads to convinience and that may be interpreted as disobedience from our husbands. |
I saw those pictures a while ago on the BBC website. These are just regular poor folks; it doesn't have much toThank you. |
Better to only speak with "ghetto" language than make make so called discussions that have YET to make any senseTalk about english proficiency. |
Now you are just being sillyIs it proper for a moderator to be proficient in languages like this? Ain't moderators supposed to be setting the pace here? NO, it is not strange to me as I have actually seen people who claim to have college degrees in Nigeria that have a seriously poor command of the English language that I always assumed they were lying to me but deep down, since I have been through the system, I can understand how it could be possible. I am not sure if you have ever been on campus on Nigeria before but take a trip and you might see what others who believe it is possible this story is true, know, that you do not seem to get. What about George W Bush that graduated from Yale but can hardly speak good english? Does that sound strange to you too? Once again, do you that criticize Nigerian graduates speak impeccable english? I cannot be a media LovePeddler because a story is skewed to entertain me. First of all, the girl did not commit any crime and you and I know that publishing her name in the newspaper constitutes to a libel suit if it was in America. Why should they infringe on her personal rights and publish her name in the first place? Will you find that funny if she is your relative? So much for junk journalism in Nigeria where everybody is lawless. Instead of trying to make excuses, go see what others have seen and know. Ever wonder why people are made to take the TOEFL exam before they move here for school from NigeriaThere you go again, Indians, Ghananians, South Africans,Philipinos and most countries where english is spoken also write TOEFL and it's preety much a way of making money. I already pointed to all parts of the story that make it credible and all you can come back with is cause you can not IMAGINE how it could happen is reason why it is not possible and GW does not know how to speak English. Keep it up!!! Maybe with all the excuses, you may be able to get her a job. ![]() |
How do you pass any course taught you in English if you can not even understand what you are being asked in class or what you read in text books??Wouldn't that sound strange to you too? Is that not a proof that the story was blown out of proportion? journalists will have to make a living, won't they?. All I know is that she may speak bad english, write horrible essays but that does not equate to her IQ. Again, there is no way she will go through the whole school system without coming across one ruthless teacher that will never let her through unless she's worth it. I think Nigerians are so used to negative stories that we forget to use our 6th sense anytime the media comes up with one. Imagine the response on the professor that cannot use a laptop? George W Bush has a very bad spoken english and it's no secret but he graduated from YALE. Mind you, english is his primary language. 95% of those making noise about this woman write terrible english here whilst hiding under typo so I think we should take the speck out from our eye first before pointing at the girl. For some of these juvenile tribal dime a dozen broads that can never make a meaningful contribution here besides calling names and showing us their proficiency in quarelling and ghetto language, it' not their fault. I blame their parents for not doing their jobs very well. |
i wasnt referring to uMa bad. God bless you. |
I think these dudes come here to post this jargon just to entertain us cos it's getting out of hand. |
Can we please stop decieving ourselves and try to make lame excuses This lady supposedly went through 6 YEARS of primary school training to acquire at least basic English language knowledge and come out being able to speak and write. She then supposedly passed through a 6 YEAR secondary school process to help solidify what she learnt in primary school and equip her with better English writing skills. She had to at some point have sat for the WAEC and the JAMB exams which are also designed to test the English knowledge of our students in various ways. Finally she attended a university for 4 YEARS to come out with a degree and all you have to say is her English proficiency is poor and that is your excuse??You and I know how the media skew their stories. English is only but a language and being too good in it is not a true test of intelligence. It's not as if she has a degree in english or literature. There is a strong conviction here that she has a poor command of spoken english. I am not sure that you that is crucifying her can boast of a standard written and spoken english assuming we decide to check the nitty gritty of all your posts here. I don't care how Nigerian education system has fallen, there is no way she can hire helps to do all those exams and manage to graduate. If hired help got her through GCe and JaMB, what about the middle school english exams? what about the ones you write as freshers and sophomores in Nigerian universities? The truth about bottom power is that it can take you to an extent and stop because either a female lecturere comes along the line or a male lecturer that will rather die than sleep with you. And the computer professor that cannot operate a laptop is dumb too abi? |
@OsunAmazon, cows need visa? LOL. That is the funniest thing i have heard all day. I can just imagine some poor guy taking the cows to the embassy in the morning to queue, lol.Yes, they have south African pssports too. |
I hope this is not a tribal war IGBO Vs Yoruba? Such thing happens everywhere in the world, let's tackle issues the way it is.Lol, lots of juvenile tribal idiots on this site. |
This story may have been overrated. I think her english proficiency may be poor but that doesnt mean she cannot speak or write english besides, english is not the only test of knowledge,so I dont know how you people can completely discredit her degree because of english language. My written yoruba is poor till today and I struggled with it in high school but i later moved to America and concentrated on the sciences and built my career. Will you discredit my wasc because of p8 in yoruba or claim that I used bottom power to get a pharm D because of poor written yoruba? About the professor that cannot operate a laptop, whats the big deal here? Operating a laptop is different from computer science. So many Nigerian doctors I bet you cannot use the modern equipments we have in American hospitals but they are very good doctors, will you discredit his medical degree because he cannot use the modern equipments? Nobody knows the archetype of the computer the poor man uses to write his codes. may be he has macintosh(that's what most professional programmers use here anyway) and has never been exposed to windows. The media can be a bitch. Whats going on with Nigerians sef? can we support each other please and try to see the media from every angle bfore passing judgement? |
How can an Amazon be a manI never said I am a man. |
I think this guy wrote this nonsense and posted his enemies picture just to ridicule him online. Please, stop giving people your pictures, I've seen a thing like this happen before because there is no correlation between his story and the picture. |
I think the poster is either male in a serious predicament or female in such relationships. |
