Politics › Re: 2023 Elections: Falana Raises Alarm Over Compromise By Personnel, Govs’ Impunity by OsunOriginal: 10:06am On Feb 28, 2023 |
Deltafirstson: Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called into question the credibility of last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, accusing security personnel, electoral staff, and state governors of undermining the process.
“I’ve not been impressed by the very disappointing outing on the part of the Independent National Electoral Commission,” Falana said during an exclusive interview with Channels Television. “Nigerians’ had been assured they were going to have a credible election – a peaceful election – whereby votes would count. Regrettably, there was a free rein of thuggery; thugs took over in many places. “There was a compromise on the part of the security forces. There was a compromise on the part of some INEC chiefs. There was impunity on the part of some governors.”
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) expressed hope that the authorities would draw sufficient lessons from the exercise. “As our courts would say, they are the substantial compliance with the Electoral Act because you could isolate where you had pockets of illegality, pockets of violence,” he said. In his view, INEC should go back to the drawing board, review the management of the elections, and the role of ad hoc staff.
He added that the Commission should ensure those apprehended for electoral offences be charged before the relevant courts as soon as possible. The violators, according to him, include those “arrested by the police or other security agencies for disrupting the election, for announcing fake results or for forging results and for deliberately preventing people from voting”. Falana stated that prosecution of electoral offenders would ensure the officers charged with managing the next elections would know that “it’s not going to be business as usual”.

Mfetenang: Some months ago,I warned the South East not to depend on the South South to win the 2023 presidential election because I noticed that their entire calculation was all about winning 90% of votes in the South East and South South. I found it laughable that SE people are always trying to attach to us forcefully when it should be obvious to them that we do not trust them. The defeat of the Labour Party in my state Akwa Ibom,Rivers State and others should show them that we are a different people and we are not interested in their problems. Hopefully this stupid attachment by force will stop from now on. I'm with you on this bro! |

The APC ticket is a Nigerian-Nigerian ticket. Anybody calling it a muslim-muslim tciket is a religious bigot. While being a religious bigot is not a crime in itself, calling a party ticket muslim-muslim is capable of inciting violence and pitching nigerians against one another. Therefore, whoever calls the APC ticket muslim-muslim should be arrested and arraigned speedily for intending to disturb the peace. |

okuya: The National party agents of the peoples democratic party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and 8 other political parties have walked out and collectively decided not to partake in the National collation of the ongoing presidential election in abuja for the failure of INEC to display the election results on their portal. They argued that INEC displaying the results from the ward level, local government and state levels on their portals would enable not only the party agents but also Nigerians who voted to compare results submitted with what the agents and voters witnessed at the polling units Who cares? Must they be there for collation and the announcement of president-elect to happen? |

Politics › Let's Gather Here To Thank Obi/dients For Making Tinubu Presidency Possible by OsunOriginal(op): 5:10pm On Feb 27, 2023 |
I can't but continue to thank obi for buckling down and not listening to those who were asking him to step down for Atiku. Most importantly, we thank his strategists (Pat Utomi, Okupe, etc) for ensuring he didn't give up and for all the moral/financial supports provided to Obi. Your efforts gave Obi the energy that got him to the finish line even though without winning. You are the people we should be thanking for the victory of our Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president-elect of the Federal republic.
We will also continue to thank the Obidient movement for giving Obi hope.
God bless all BATists! God bless Obi (for contesting) God bless Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president-elect! God bless President Buhari! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria! |

Banky W, one of the arrowheads of endsars and anti-Tinubu forces in Lagos received his own breakfast in the just concluded Ibeju-lekki house of rep elections in Lagos. Those he thought were his comrades in the not-well-thought-through struggle jettisoned him and voted massively for their own in the election. Now, he and his co-travelers will be represented by an omo Ihboooo in Abuja. |

Kellyelly1: Muslims in the North told their people to vote Muslim-Muslim ticket to show christians they own the country while the rest wanted Atiku their Muslim brother. In revolt and also the suffering and persecution the Christians are going through in the country, Northern Christians voted en mass for Peter Obi. Down South, SW to be precise, Christian States like Ondo and Ekiti voted for Muslim-Muslim ticket and the rest voted for Muslim Atiku.
Now the Northern Christians who were thinking SW Christians and indeed, all christians or majority Christians would Vote Obi to give him victory are now left stranded and betrayed by their counterparts.
Apart from Lagos that's a cosmopolitan State, Can SW Christians explain why they voted Muslim-Muslim ticket and Muslim Atiku? Ori e ti daru... SW Christians betrayed who? |

Saintinoo: From the results so far, APC is losing Osun and only won Ekiti by 48% votes, that's APC stronghold, what is Tinubu winning exactly.
The results in SE shows you how to win a stronghold. Do not be deceived, APC is currently losing in the NW and NE. Can you share the Osun, NW, and NE results that show APC is losing? Or we should just accept what you said? |
