PoliticsRe: Terror Watch: Commissioner, Others Denied U.s. Visa ‘over "imam" As Surname'. by otawa: 3:06pm On Jan 17, 2010
The United States of America may have begun stringent visa restriction as part of its planned terror surveillance on Nigeria because Borno State’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Mohammed Imam, who was billed to accompany Governor Ali Modu Sheriff to attend an annual World Agricultural Expo in Orlando, northern Florida in the United States has been allegedly denied visa for bearing ‘Imam’ as his surname, Sunday Trust gathered.
This is what US, UK should have been doing long ago but because it pays their economy they did not.

UN should employ all countries to place ban on all Nigeria Government officials. Let them stay at home and fix our problems.

There is internet and tele-conference so no reason for travels.
PoliticsRe: Will 20,000 US Marines Land Our Shores? by otawa: 2:22pm On Jan 17, 2010
In 2008 the US revealed that they have a contingency plan should Nigeria become unstable;
The question is what would make Nigeria unstable?

Who defines whats stable and what is not stable?

Could Mutallab be a pawn in part of the definition of unstable Nigeria?
PoliticsRe: Usa And Canada Sendng Troops To Haiti. US:10,000 Troops seriously? by otawa: 2:17pm On Jan 17, 2010
I think you should check on those nations again. US was their as part of an agreement, not because they are trying to control or do any of those things you are suggesting.
exactly, they have 'forced' Haiti President to sign-off control of his airspace. so it is legal but to what AIM?

Surely not for earthquake victims!

US should with immediate effect transfer control of the Haiti Airport to UN otherwise this is INVASION of helpless people.

PoliticsRe: Usa And Canada Sendng Troops To Haiti. US:10,000 Troops seriously? by otawa: 2:09pm On Jan 17, 2010
Give me a break. The airport was signed over due to poor management. I.e Planes getting turned around intially and not allowing them to land. This was causing congestion. Also, Obama assured it was for a limited time. But dont let me keep spoiling your party.
yeah,  yeah. Just like everywhere else for a short-time: Iraqi, Afghan, Kazakstan, South Koren, German.

Why cant US ask Haiti President to sign it over to UN instead to US-army.

If I am Hugo, I am going to be ready with 'ballistic missiles' and ask Russia to bring warship to Venezuela for 'War-Games' ASAP.
PoliticsRe: Civil War Looms — Lam Adesina by otawa: 2:05pm On Jan 17, 2010
Former Oyo State governor, Lam Adesina, has warned northern elements determined to frustrate Vice President Goodluck Jonathan from assuming office as Acting President that they could plunge the country into another civil war.
Mr Lam got it wrong.

Their is no ideology in Nigeria.

Everyone wants MONEY, KUDI, EGO.

There would be some 'noise'; once money exchange hands, they go dubai to buy villa, marry young wives and enjoy life. Q.E.D
PoliticsRe: Where On Earth Is The Nans? by otawa: 2:02pm On Jan 17, 2010
Mr Obasanjo killed NANS and Labour.

Nigerians were happy as they wanted to get-on with their lives.

Now there is nobody left to speak for them!

I wonder what they will do when Soyinka is gone.
PoliticsRe: Usa And Canada Sendng Troops To Haiti. US:10,000 Troops seriously? by otawa: 2:00pm On Jan 17, 2010
The US (the world's terrorist) has been looking for a way to mount a military base there since Russia is partnering with Venezuela and has a parade of weapons last year.

America is trying to do this everywhere in the world.Which makes me NOT 100% sure that "Earthquake" was natural. I beleive they can stage anything to get an instance of proving themselves as "Helpful"
Interesting.

Hilary already made Haiti President to sign-off the Haiti airport to US-Army control.

I know US will mix weapon of mass destruction with their humanitaria effort.

Could it also be reason why Russian has not responded, studying the suituation?

If I am Hugo of Venezuela, I would be very worried indeed and I will place my army on red alert and force US-Army must leave Haiti within 6months or it will be called an invasion.

Yes o! It wasn't natural,
Last year Germans made an 'artificial earthquake' that destored parts of the their town.

However, to do this, you need to be physically present in that area!

Naija shaaa!
I have done many demo in my life, but Nigerian demo achieves NOTHING.

It lacks sustainablity, the aim is often confused and many do it to be seen.

PoliticsRe: Eduacte A Child And Touch A Life Today, Its Really Easy by otawa: 1:47pm On Jan 17, 2010
Normally this is good idea but,

Awolowo provided free education which Abiola used to study and eventually became rich.

In 1979, same Abiola used his money which in earns due to the 'free education' in conjunction with Mr Obasanjo and NPN to denied Nigerians the leadership of Awolowo.

The import of the story: the 'Nigeria kid' you send to school today may be a judge that will send your grand-kid to death sentence.

It is time like this that Nigeria should show why they have the largest population of blacks in the world.

alas, we dont even have President.

Mind you, we have about 101 Nigerian Police in Haiti, no news about their welfare to their families or Nigeria.

We can easily take about 1million Haiti, if they want to come.

Afterall, we took the Liberians about 300,000.
PoliticsRe: Save Nigeria Group Protest @ London Uk (pictures) by otawa: 6:17pm On Jan 16, 2010
Good idea, wrong place!

The change is needed in Nigeria not in Uk!

What they need to do is clear:

everyone should sit/sleep/eat on the abuja international airport tarmac for a week non-stop.

The government would be no more.

PoliticsKenya Riots Over Islamic Cleric by otawa(op): 5:39pm On Jan 15, 2010
One person has died after Kenyan police fired live rounds at supporters of a Jamaican-born Muslim cleric notorious for preaching racial hatred.

Let us see if Obama will put his father-land in terrorist watch-list

One person has died after Kenyan police fired live rounds at supporters of a Jamaican-born Muslim cleric notorious for preaching racial hatred.

Police also fired tear gas at hundreds of stone-throwing protesters calling for Abdullah al-Faisal to be freed.

Faisal is in detention in Nairobi after Kenya failed to deport him.

Kenya wants to expel him citing his "terrorist history". He was jailed for four years in the UK for soliciting the murder of Jews and Hindus.

Sources at the Kenyatta Hospital have told the BBC that one person has died, while seven others sustained bullet wounds. Doctors say their lives are not in danger.

Islamist flag?

Muslim youths began the protest match after Friday prayers at the Jamia Mosque in the centre of Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
They wanted to present a petition to Immigration Minister Otieno Kajwang and Prime Minister Raila Odinga's office.

But police had banned the march and intervened.

One banner read: "Release al-Faisal, he is innocent", reports the AFP news agency.

Some reports suggest that the protesters were waving flags of Somali Islamist group al-Shabab.

Reuters news agency reports that some people joined the security forces in attacking the protesters.

Faisal was arrested on 31 December 2009, a week after he is believed to have arrived from Tanzania.

Mr Kajwang says The Gambia has agreed to take him in but Kenya was unable to send him there because airlines in Nigeria refused to carry him.

Tanzania has also refused to let him re-enter its territory.

Faisal was born Trevor William Forrest in St James, Jamaica - though he left the island 26 years ago, initially living in the UK.

His parents were Salvation Army officers and he was raised as a Christian.
But at the age of 16 he went to Saudi Arabia - where he is believed to have spent eight years - and became a Muslim.

He took a degree in Islamic Studies in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, before coming back to the UK.

Faisal spent years travelling the UK preaching racial hatred urging his audience to kill Jews, Hindus and Westerners.

A year after being deported from the UK in 2007, he was preaching in South Africa.

The Kenyan authorities said Faisal had arrived in Kenya on 24 December 2009 after travelling through Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique, Swaziland and Malawi and Tanzania

O boy!!, this is massive. So Glo left local league to go sponsor an EPL team. Those green boys are vexing.
we dont have all the metrics behind this move.

On the surface, it is vexious since the money was made in Naija, it should be spend on Nigerians.

May be looking deeper, Glo will make much more money from this as a global brand and they can have more funds to spend on Naija.

PoliticsGbosa:china’s Foreign Reserves Hit $2,399bn by otawa(op): 2:47pm On Jan 15, 2010
China’s foreign exchange reserves, by far the largest in the world, rose by $126.5bn in the fourth quarter of last year to hit $2,399bn, the country’s central bank said on Friday.

The country’s continued accumulation of foreign exchange is likely to provide ammunition to trading partners that complain the country is pursuing mercantilist policies by keeping its currency pegged at an artificially low rate to the US dollar.

Dragonbeat - Jan-12China raises bank reserve requirements - Jan-13The reserves returned to steady growth in the second half of last year after a period of volatility and even brief decline at the beginning of 2009 caused by currency fluctuations and a collapse in Chinese exports.

For the entire year, China added $453bn to the reserves, $35bn more than the increase in 2008.

The central bank also said on Friday that new local currency bank loans in China increased by Rmb380bn ($56bn) in December, bringing the total amount of new loans issued last year to Rmb9,590bn.
Kudos to China.

Shame for Nigeria. It has instead became a terrorist state.
PoliticsRe: While The World Helps Haiti, Not One Black African Nation Has Helped by otawa: 2:12pm On Jan 15, 2010
@Poster, how can we help at this time when our president remains missing? If you notice, most all the countries that are rushing to help actually have their leaders representing 'em. We, on the other hand, are in need of help. lol
If you had read the news, you will have known by now that 'Good Luck' has legally backing to do all things the on behalf of Yaradua!

Point is our foreign image is in tatters, too much bad news about Nigeria. It is times like this you step up to the plate and show you still want to belong in the international community and not end up a pariah state. Making promises to help if it is needed is just rubbish.
You think so? What about taking good care of your people first then you can think about your external image?

How many people even know NIGERIA as a country?

PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Allow Armed U.s. Air Marshals On Flights by otawa: 2:23pm On Jan 14, 2010
I am not suprised.

AFRICOM is the end game of USA.

The possibility of big BANG in Nigeria is very high now.

This would even fast-forward the AFRICOM but as always USA will have to plan it carefully.

This is a very good idea.  Anyone who gets violent on board an aircraft or tries to light an incendiary or explosive device will need to be neutralized quickly and precisely with a well-aimed volley of shots.   The marshalls must of course load up with those ceramic rounds that will kill a human, but shatter against the fuselage, rather than puncture the aircraft skin.
Indeed, if you air-marshal missed and shot hit the fuselage. Good Luck to your plane!
PoliticsRe: Seun Adebiyi Needs Your Help! Please! by otawa: 12:28pm On Jan 14, 2010
Most likely, his only chance for survival is a bone marrow transplant, but he is facing grim odds. African-Americans comprise only 8% of the registry, and receive transplants in the US only 17 % of the time. Overall, only three out of ten patients find the match they need for a life-saving transplant.
I wish the guy luck.

Above also provide opportunity for Nigeria Private Hospital to keep 'Black Registry' since we still have the 'original genes' here.

Food for thought

2. How much taxes they paid to FG

PoliticsRe: Jonathan To Be Sworn In As Acting President Immediately - Abuja High Court by otawa: 8:22pm On Jan 13, 2010
Before you jump up:

Christopher Onwuekwe, the lawyer who brought the suit against the government, said he felt the judge had upheld his case.

He said he went to court only to confirm that the vice-president had the power to carry out the functions of the president.

Justice Minister Michael Aondoakka welcomed the ruling, saying it showed there was no power vacuum and would allow ministers to get on with the business of governing.
Yes, Jonathan has the power but at same time he is not the President.

Means: Yaradua can be in Saudi for next 2years and he remain President!

If you ask me, Aondoakka has scored a place-coup against NIGERIANS.

You can try same case twice, only supreme court case make final pronounce, and guess what Yaradau appointed the judges and they report to Aondoakka!

PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Protest In Abuja 12-01-2010(more pictures) by otawa: 1:03pm On Jan 13, 2010
@ Otawa, you have a point, but we all have to contribute what we can. some will be protesting in the UK on Friday, and Mr Soyinka and the others promised that yesterday was first of many to come.
.

sadly, this will not CHANGE anything!

A protest that will change something must be CONTINUOUS without break.

If they want to change something. Let all of them sit-tight in National Assembly ground ABUJA International Airport for a week.

They eat, sleep, shower on the grounds and see if Yaradua Government would not collapsed within 5days.

Those who cannot protest, can be bring food for those protesting.

It would be monumental, but we LOST another good opportunity to put NIGERIA on right path!

It is a new day, what is new about this 'Protest'?

Everybody don go home.

Like everything in Nigeria, it is dead.

We dont like the capacity to see through issues.

If those protestant had 'sit-tight' in the Abuja International Airport for 5days, the senate will impeach Yaradua and we can move on.

Alas, Nigeria with it is half-baked protests we always wait for 'old man Soyinka' to do the basic.

Let them move. Nigerians dont need to boycot them.

Once their licence is due for renewal. We simply DONT renew it.

We give the licence to other company!

MTN needs Nigeria more than Nigeria needs them!

They can go and make 20% of their profit from Ghana.
