delgook14: The best way I can explain it is just imagine your favourite food and what can make you reject this food. Either you are full from eating previously or you're sick. No matter how much you pump some stocks with good news and other fundamentals, they cannot go above a certain level. Again the company may be "sick" because it is still loss making. Also, it seems it hasn't been assigned a Beta value yet. This is another sign of weak "immunity" for stocks. Again it is a young company. Many times when earnings call day is approaching, the stock price is overvalued due to anticipation. In this case, you can say that the stock is full from eating previously. |

Vitra: Step 1. Decide what you want out of the stock market. Do you want to be a day trader or a long term investor? Please take note that the glamour of day trading is enticing but it has been proven many times that day traders make less returns than long term investors. 2. What kind of risk are you willing to take? Remember that high risks mean higher gains or losses. How do you determine risky stocks? I use fundamental analysis. A company with a high Beta, high debts and negative EPS are some of the metrics I use to measure risk. I also compare quarterly returns, search for earnings call days and set an alarm on my calendar. For example, I have a covid stock $OSUR that I intend to offload today due to their unfavourable earnings. Also, they deviated from their Covid-19 testing plan. This is even one of the reasons I am selling it. Please, look at a company's 1, 2, 3, 7, 10 year stock gains before buying it. 3. You have to download Yahoo Finance, search for "Dave Ramsey on stocks" on YouTube and watch everything he has to say about stocks. Use these websites: The Mortely Fool, Market Watch and Globe News Wire have provided great analysis. Find the Twitter pages of the single stocks you want to buy. Not just this, search for hashtags of the "ticker" of this company. Open an account with Reddit and follow these sub reddits: investing, wall street bets, penny stocks and stocks. If you can understand what he says, follow Jim Cramer. But he flip flops, just get the information you want out of all the jargon. 4. Be a disciplined person. Don't be easily swayed by people claiming to be making extraordinary returns. My target is to make above the rate of inflation and some change. If I exceed this target, it is a bonus I am grateful for. I am happy for anyone who makes far above me, it is not a competition because we're all trying to survive. Never ever feel like you have missed out on any opportunity when you hear people celebrating their gains in a particular stock. Another opportunity will arise. 5. Stay away from derivatives for now. Stuff like options, short selling, futures etc are highly speculative and are akin to gambling. 6. Do not be tempted to place all of your savings into a single stock or into the stock market. Always have an emergency fund that you can access from your atm machine. On a day that you don't expect, your car will break down, you will fall sick and your grandma in the village will swallow razor blade. Withdrawal from the stock market will erase all your gains for that year. 20 Likes 4 Shares |

I just felt I should say that the market could experience a downturn soon. The crashing dollar, upcoming elections and possibility of finding a vaccine soon could throw things off balance and spark a massive selloff from tech stocks. The current market appears to be outperforming last year. This is very unusual in the middle of a pandemic and analysts have suggested that this is a signal that there is a bubble that is about to burst. I see myself moving away from single stocks and biotech arenas into the more generalised field of ETFs. Highly geared, high equity beta and negative EPS stocks are likely to be worst hit from my experience. I am not being alarmist, just felt like saying this and to make us all prepared for what is to come. |

Olalekank: I would dump it. No revenue, no data, not even a single car on the road yet. I would dump it and go for any industrial revolution ETF if you're genuinely into renewable energy and electric cars. 1 Like |

Please sell your SPCE now. Virgin Atlantic just filed for bankruptcy. I wish SpaceX has gone public, that or Blue origins could have been a better space exploration stock to buy because they are getting contracts from NASA and other government military agencies. The video from SPCE that came out a few days ago was not even from a real space craft as I read. Don't take my word for it, do your due diligence. As for Jumia, I never jumped on it- not even now, because I feel it is a falling knife. You should not catch a falling knife. Even if it gets to 100, I won't regret. Please don't take my word for it without due diligence. |

kalu61: Don't feel hurt, that's not a good investor mindset. You came at the right time and many more opportunities will come. You should also be prepared for losses. Take your time to study financial statements and get educated on fundamental analysis. Don't take anyone's recommendation without doing your due diligence. 1 Like |

Tobex4realTobex234: We're almost same. It is time consuming and if you take your attention from your screen anything can happen. Anyway, I have $IGM and $ARKF. There are many others that give similar returns like the Vanguard growth ETFs. I can't type all here, it will take time. |

InaNla: An exchange traded fund will buy shares in a particular sector. They can buy shares of the top 50 most capitalized stocks in the tech sector. This is for people who don't have money to buy everything and who want to spread the risk of investing in just one company. There are ETFs that buy shares in biotech pharmaceutical companies too. Numerous categories, but if you enjoy taking risks, you may not like it. Although if I may add, there is research that people who invest in these funds usually outperform single stock buyers like us. The only problem is that this performance is usually tracked long term. |

Jayjaycee18: Facebook also planned to launch Reel, a tik tok competitor this month. Just to notify everyone thinking of selling their Facebook stock for Microsoft. If you're patient enough you can wait or load up on ETFs that are FAAMG heavy if you prefer to play safe. |

I am wondering if someone here knows any NYSE/NASDAQ etf that deals with franchises, especially international franchises. 7 eleven just acquired a big fuel station. Also, if you're into the Japanese market, you can have a look. |

InaNla: Cc lastclaire4 after looking at it I concluded that you really can't win with these apps. Once you think that you have found the right app for you, that is when you will notice one coma. The only way it seems that you can win is if you let the money stay in your account for long enough that the naira depreciates further against the dollar, so that you can reap the benefits. InvestBamboo will let you deposit at 479 but you can withdraw at 469. I haven't had any need to withdraw for a while so, I don't think it may affect me for now. The pros in investing have taught that the first step before investing is to set aside an emergency fund. Because most people will want to invest their last kobo but instead end up eating the gain due to premature withdrawal of the investment for emergencies. 2 Likes |

This just in: Sanofi (SAN) and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) just received $2.1 billion to supply vaccines. They are both profitable, dividend paying companies based in Europe. From my experience, these meet the profile of companies that do NOT react crazily to press reports. I will buy but I am not expecting to make Kodak proportion of returns. Also, short term positions only because their stocks have not grown in the last 5 years. 1 Like |

I did something silly. I did a transfer from my ecobank mobile app to InvestBamboo. I used the former account number. I forgot a new one is generated for every transaction. I just got a failed transaction notification from my bank and no reversal of transaction. They have not picked the phone and the app chat bot wasn't helpful. |

yom2: I'd love to know what you mean by inspiring activities. But I'm with nna777. The honest story about day trading and handling single stocks is that it is almost like gambling. The seasoned long term investors on this thread are mostly quiet. Every day trader is a genius in a bull market and today was bearish. Wait for the Dow Jones to turn green and this place will be filled with inspiring activities 4 Likes |

Skymoore1004:Thank you. My proof of address upload was rejected and I am just assuming that this is the reason. Other reasons that I suspect: 1. It was scanned and I sent it to gallery before I uploaded. I didn't convert it into pdf. 2. I scanned only the first page 3. The name of the city was not very clear in the statement. The accounts officer said that wasn't an issue. 4. The stamp with the name of the bank was not clear. Harbelly notimezone |
