SportsRe: Super Eagles Of Nigeria Official Thread: which country must SE face? by ow11(m): 10:13am On Jul 10, 2013
Pls the only way forward is to sack Keshi and invite a Serbian coach to work with Siasia who will play with the following first eleven

Enyeama, Ambrose, Yobo, Omeruo, Taiwo, Mikel, Joel Obi, Olofinjana, Osaze, Martins and Nsofor. These are foreign based pros that will win us the world cup in Brazil after we dispatch Malawi 7 nil

drnoel: Bros, in as much as you are not wrong but there are still places where u have to pay note than 40 percent of what u earn as tax. This is apart from other minor expense u will incur from other government institutions.
Now you have narrowed the pool to PAYE tax when there is only a limited number of Nigerians in formal employment. All those levies listed above by the OP, have you thought to see if it is not up to 40% of their profit?

In Europe, SMEs pay a corporation tax of 20% which is the same in Nigeria but the Europeans do not have to deal with the hordes of silly levies and lack of infrastructure which the taxes was meant to pay for thereby paying for the infrastructure themselves. I would wager that Nigerians pay upwards of 50% of their earnings as tax either as formal PAYE + taking care of the inadequacies of our inept government!
SportsRe: Sunday Oliseh Replies Stephen Keshi! - by ow11(m): 7:27am On Jul 10, 2013
Oliseh should shut the hell up!

He was a nobody when he made his debut! Thompson Oliha and Mutiu Adepoju were ahead of him and he had just secured a move to Belgium at the time so was actually invited for his prowess at Onikan stadium. If Nigerian league was so powerful in the 90s, Oliseh should also show us the Sekou Toure and Mandela cups he or any Nigerian side won!

Keshi only handed debuts to Ujah (foreign based) and Gambo (one substitute appearance: you all saw his goal and game play against CIV and therefore can imagine what he did in training)

I want Kesi to resign let us play with this Osaze who has been scoring all of 9 goals on our way to winning the 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 AFCON tourneys to come and fire us to glory in Brazil.

If AFCON was easy to win with world class strikers, I do not think Drogba, Arouna Kone, Kalou, Wilfried Bony and Kader Keita would be staring at their silver medals right now! and yes they all failed to get out of their group at two consecutive world cups!
PoliticsRe: Multiple Levies In Abia State. Somebody Help!!! by ow11(m):
As amazing as this sounds, A lot of Nigerians sincerely believe we do not pay taxes and complain like b1tches about taxes in foreign countries.

The amount of taxes Nigerians pay are astronomial as the government provides next to nothing for these payments. Imagine after all these levies, I wonder if the business can pay a living wage to its employees.

I will bash anyone's head that comes to this forum to claim that Nigeria is a tax free haven!

Well Abians know what to do at the polls! vote out PDP or at least the business owners can launch a protest at the state house of assembly and governor's office stating the need to allow banks to collect the revenue on its behalf and also bloody make them affordable!

Jarus: Sudden death is on rapid increase in this country in recent time.

Managing Editor of Daily Trust died in bank car park in Abuja recently. He was the one that drove to bank.

Joey Eghile, ChannelsTV sports producer and fringe presenter died while producing live programme couple of weeks back

A friend's brother slept and never woke up 2 weeks ago

Another friend's in-law also died in his sleep recently

Too many cases of young folks dying suddenly.

I fear o
The main culprits are

1. Hypertension

2. Lack of sleep

3. Obesity

I would not exactly blame sedentary lifestyle because guys still either go clubbing, play football and even wash their clothes.

The need to make a bit more money coupled with the strain of actually getting to work can take a toll on a frail body. I expect this trend to be higher when this present 20-somethings hit their mid forties.

We worry too much, have since redefined contentment to mean laziness and thus fight unecessary battles and sleep very little. I just hope a lot of people will learn from this and take care of themselves.

Eat less

Sleep more

Quarrel less

Scream/Shout less

Drink a lot less (we drink too much)

We already are very optimistic so that is a great start!
PoliticsRe: Construction Of Seaport, Airport Begins At Lekki by ow11(m):
omar22: Exactly.... why do you think that PDP are so desperate to have Lagos state.

Like I said according aviation stats London to Lagos is one of the most lucrative route in the world after London to New York and remember MMA is a Hub airport. Businesses from all over the world would deal with Lagos than any other part of Nigeria, Lagos could restrict what goes to other part of Nigeria because of its ports and rail network.
I wonder which aviation stats? Number of flights? Number of Passengers? or combined baggage weight of all passangers?

Did you mean total cost of tickets purchased + volume of flights? and why would this be smaller in NewYork-Dubai, Tokyo-HongKong, Beijing-London or NewYork-Los Angeles?

Please point us to which stats you are referring to before you start making up stories to prove a point

SportsRe: Keshi Will No Longer Select Players Alone - NFF by ow11(m): 8:04am On Jul 02, 2013
If only Keshi invited the following,

Odemwingie (Hardly played any football between January and June, 56 caps; 9 goals, played in AFCON 2004,2006,2008,2010 which we all won and failed to qualify in 2012)

Nsofor (Been mostly injured and out of form for two seasons where he played 43 games and scored a mind boggling 3 goals)

Anichebe (asked to be left out of the squad although he had 6 league goals in 26 games, Kind of wish he made himself available)

Dike (Injured)

K. Uche (Injured)

I. Uche (anonymous in South Africa and his miscue lead to the Burkina Faso attack that resulted in their late equaliser. Same Maigari would have questioned the rationale to pick him had he joined the squad and remained anonymous. I would rather try out a new player (Ujah & Gambo) in a friendly tournament than one that struggled to gel in January)

Martins (Maybe Keshi made a genuine error here, no one is perfect. Should have replaced Emeka Eze who never played)

Yobo (Same guy everybody hated in January)

Haruna (Same guy that turned his back to defend against Greece during the world cup. I don't blame Keshi if he doesn't rate him)

Joel Obi (injured)

Igiebor (injured)

Then Nigeria would have trashed Uruguay, beaten Spain, hammered Italy and Pummelled Brazil because the players listed above failed to appear in Brazil. If only *bites finger*

Maigari should fire Keshi and appoint a Serbian or Romanian we have never heard of, pay him millions of dollars they do not have and give him a list of players that includes all those listed above. I tell you faa, Nigeria will score an average of three goals per game, concede none on their way to lifting the world cup in 2014.

UP MAIGARI!! UP NFF!!! GOD BLESS NAIJERIYA!!!!
FamilyRe: Pls Help, I Am 3 Months Plus Pregnant And Not Ready by ow11(m): 11:25am On Jun 28, 2013
chaircover: Efe actually it is her constant referring to the baby that she has already carried in her womb for 3 months as "it" that got to me.

Her post was very cold and I felt it. If she genuinely wanted help, then she would have asked for help, not threatening to abort the baby and hold people to ransom. Whose loss is it if she aborts her baby? Nairalanders or hers?

She wont be the first nairalander to get pregnant and need help. There is one about to give birth or has already just given birth and debrief and others rallied round and supported her. There was another young girl and the baby is almost 2 years old now and the baby is with her and doing well.

Yes it is a big problem being pregnant and not having money and support but is the next step to threaten people who had nothing to do with the conception?
I have always wondered why Nigerians get offended when you use the pronoun 'it' to refer to a baby or a child of unknown gender. That is proper use as the baby is genderless (neuter) and until the sex is known before the rules change an thus can be referred to as he or she.

Although language like most things can change depending on common rules in a particular environment*, it is unfair to brand her as cold if she refers to her baby as 'it'.

Regarding the post, bis7 should abort the baby before it is too late. Better to die before birth than to be born and neglected. No one should offer her any money

* Nigeria: I am coming! meaning I am going away and would return shortly. . In UK English this would be said like this: I would be back in a moment! whilst 'I am coming' actually means I am moving towards you currently in UK English

SportsRe: Keshi Has Reached His Limits – Osaile by ow11(m): 9:21am On Jun 26, 2013
Osaile is a tool...Simple question, Did Nigeria play in the confederations cup in 2009 when Osaze was still a SE player?

What a tool. . After Keshi arranged his team, all these buffoons have come out to talk. Maybe we should invite Olofinjana and Etuhu to play with Yakubu & Osaze. Even Amodu as technical director supports this team and this non-entity with radio time is here spewing balderdash.

What a M0ron angry
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Spain - Player Rating by ow11(m): 10:54am On Jun 24, 2013
@OP

Ambrose is a liability because of his pace and doesn't return in time (4/10). We need a RB asap and move him to deputise for Omeruo/Oboabona with Yobo as the other reserve CB.

Omeruo should not be scored

Egwuekwe is a horrible defender (3/10). Poor positioning during attacks and always seemed out of sync with the others. Fabregas make a monkey of him and he clearly was out of his depth. Should never play for the super eagles like Muhammed Gambo!

Muhammed Gambo was not even the top scorer in the league. He was Kano Pillers top scorer and did poorly (2/10)

Ideye should never play for the SE without Emenike again (4/10). He looks like our own Sheringham with Emenike as Shearer.

Mikel, Musa, Enyeama, Oboabona (Should go to Liverpool), Echiejile and strangely the much maligned Ogude had a good game and should be proud of their efforts
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Uruguay - Player Rating by ow11(m): 12:47pm On Jun 21, 2013
Ajasnoop: There is nothing Haruna Lukman will bring to the team that we don't already have. Next thing somebody will ask for Macaulay Chrisantus
He played with Amodu/Lagerback and their slow transition style through the middle. Let us see him play with this team and their quick counter and see if he is better than any of our current second choice midfielders (Ogude, Mba, Ogu and Eze)

Unlike Haruna, Chrisantus doesn't play for a high profile club neither is he prolific for them. Therefore, should not be considered.

Just a peep, Last season, Dude scored 6 goals and played 18 games in the League,5 in Europe. This is for a club that has Miguel Veloso and Niko Krancjar in their midefield. I certainly think that he can bring something to the squad especially as an option on the bench rather than Ogude or Mba
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Uruguay - Player Rating by ow11(m): 11:44am On Jun 21, 2013
People are being a bit unfair to Musa, I'd rate him average (5). However, I learnt that the Eagles can create chances and are trying to be clever with goalscoring plus the following:

1. Emenike and possibly any of Gambo Mohammed/Sibi Gwar/Kalu Uche/Ikechukwu Uche would solve our striker crisis

2. Ideye works best as a support striker with his amazing movement.

3. Joel Obi needs to return to help Mikel who himself needs to move to a club where his Pirlo-like attributes would be polished to world class standard. I would prefer if Mikel moved to Fiorentina/Napoli/Athletico Madrid rather than Galatasaray or remain at Chelsea.

4. We still need a RB. Maybe Kwambe should try to play or if NFF can convince Leon Balogun/Thiago Illori (unlikely) to don the green of Nigeria.

5. Echiejile is getting more confident and needs one more injury free season to make NIgerians happy

6. Keshi needs to get rid of Ogude, Akpala and Ujah and maybe let us see what Sone Aluko and Lukman Haruna can bring to this team

7. Enyeama; Ambrose, Echiejile, Oboabona, Omeruo; Onazi, Mikel, Obi; Ideye, Emenike, Moses should start our next qualifier if all are available.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Tahiti - Player Rating by ow11(m): 12:53pm On Jun 19, 2013
Keshi has done a splendid job with the Nigerian team but I was surprised at his changes.

I felt Gambo Mohammed and Emeka Eze should have been brought on since the Eagles were in no danger of loosing. I wanted to see those players in action. Gambo did very well for Kano Pillars last season as did Rabiu Ali but he brought on Ideye and Ogu into a game we had already won and we learnt nothing new. . .

Back to topic,

Worst Player
Ogude 1/10 - Our worst player on the pitch! Dude still can't read a game and IS a terrible DM.

Best Player

Oduamadi 9/10 - Great composure and movement. If Ideye can add Odu's composure to his game, He and not Emenike would start for Nigeria.

Did anyone also notice how one dimensional Efe Ambrose is? I mean, going forward I was amazed how he never sees the movement of the strikers and just tries to get the ball to Musa/Oduamadi. Something has to give o. . Either he learns to pass beyond 10 yards, or sits in the defence and allow Oboabona to launch the attacks through the middle.
SportsRe: Out Of 160mlllion Nigerians, We Can't Provide 22 Committed Talented Super Eagles by ow11(m): 12:41pm On Jun 19, 2013
Dumb Thread!

bennyraz: I watched the Super eagles of Nigeria against Taihiti or whatever with keen interest and I was really disappointed. I felt like vomiting because our players were really irritating especially that boy they call Musa! he operates like Nigeria's GSM network.. at times, he goes out of service completely and you can see that in his play! no composure! Honestly, I don't want to see the likes of Ogude, Mba, Ideye, Musa and Oboabona in that Team forever after this confederations cup! Come to think of it Nairalanders, are we fools? out of over 160million Nigerians in this country, is this the best team we could come up with to represent us! it's just a total disgrace. Their football play was bad and pathetic, no grip on the ball.. even keshi was watching with dis-belief. The era of collecting bribes from people who are not worthy of positions they occupy in this country keeps killing the nation at a whole in a geometric progression! If it was based on talents alone, most of the players we see there today in super eagles wearing our jerseys to represent us will all be ball-boys. The problem with super-eagles today is the problem with Nigeria and it has turn into a Natural phenomenon

Sorry but let me throw another curveball, what of white collar workers who clearly cannot afford some high fee paying schools (primary or secondary) but still insist on sacricing for their kids to attend those school.E.g A family income of 1.2M a yr spending 700-800 thousand on schl fees yearly?Am asking cos there is a current dispute in my family where someone advised another"You cant keep doing this(running around at the beggining of every term cos its clear your income cant afford this school.Cant you withdraw and take them to a cheaper school?".They are currently not on speaking terms.
Isn't this the same reason Nigerians in the US and UK still send their kids to private primary schools? Even though it is PRIMARY SCHOOL! and the state run ones are probably in the same class and FREE

ballabriggs: You do not understand and its extremely difficult to explain a complex topic to someone who has limited knowledge of how the counts are derived.

Firstly the World Bank in setting the extreme poverty line placed it on $1 US at 1985 PPP prices. Such that $1 US in 1985 PPP is $1.08 in 1994 PPP and $1.45 in 2005 PPP. Today the figure has gone above this 1985 price in PPP terms.

So like I say let the writer get the knowledge first before ignorantly disputing figures computed by these guys. How absurd is it to link it to N155.

Those guys that computed those figures are not the problem, ignorance is the problem!
So why won't the educated Journalist say the dollar is based in 1985 values? Since they do not I believe the intent is to tell their audience (Americans and Europeans) that 80% of Nigerians can not afford a bottle of Coke!

It is a condescending statement and wrong on so many fronts. Poverty just like you have suggested can't be put down to one figure since for example, It is impossible to live on a N200 daily stipend in Lekki but not so in Kaura Namoda!

Why don't they quote poverty in terms of what they can see? Majority of Nigerians do not have access to portable water, electricity, housing etc. . .

The fact this happened in an organisation run by people that shout on top of their lungs how holy and morally upright they are leaves even more to be be desired. How can you break the laws of a country thereby committing a crime and you are blaming the victim!

Did those who now live in a much saner clime get there by blaming the victims of crimes OR punishing the law breakers? The least you can do as a decent human being is to condemn the act and not BLAME THE VICTIM!
