Severance S02E07 – "Chikhai Bardo" "There is beauty in complexity." I'm beginning to understand perfectly why this season took so long to make after Season 1, and it had nothing to do with the technical aspects of the show. Rather, it was the sheer effort required to write something as complex as this and for it to turn out as beautiful as it has. In Severance, nothing is random, nothing happens by chance, and nothing is linear. All of this adds to the brilliance of the storytelling. The show thrives on symbolism, and this episode encapsulates it all. Aptly named "Chikhai Bardo", it references the fourth moment of death in Tibetan Buddhism, the bright light one sees before passing from this world. If you’ve seen this episode, you’ll understand why the title is so fitting. I thought Woe’s Hollow was the peak of the season, but this has now become my favorite episode by far, and quite possibly the best tv serial episode i have seen, since the turn of the year....The writing, the pacing, the sound design, the cinematography..... everything was so top ceiling! This show may not win over many casual viewers because its beauty doesn’t lie in spontaneity. Some might find it too demanding to decipher all the symbolism and hidden meanings, especially if they have to listen to the official episode podcast or watch YouTube breakdowns after each episode to fully grasp it all. That might be a bridge too far for many. But for those who persist, I’m certain we have an all-time great on our hands. And with so many layers of this show still left to unravel, we might be here for a while… 🙌🏿

"The Brutalist" (2024) "This place is rotten. The landscape, the food we eat. This whole country is rotten..." – Erzsébet Tóth From the moment I first heard the title of this film, I had envisioned an entirely different premise. However, it turned out to be both an ode to the Brutalist architecture movement and an exploration of the struggles of its protagonist. An epic period drama that only A24 could craft, it feels like a return to their earlier roots. Masterfully shot with an impeccable soundtrack, this is arthouse cinema at its peak. The story follows a highly accomplished Hungarian-Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor who is forcibly separated from his wife. He arrives in New York to chase the "American Dream," only to realize that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. A film of two halves, the first half might be the best hour-plus movie experience I’ve had in a long time. However, in the second half, the film leans heavily on artistic expression and ambiguity rather than a strong continuation of the initial plot. Adrien Brody, as László Tóth, delivers the best male lead performance in a motion picture over the past year. The accent, the mannerisms the sheer immersion in the role, I had to check if László Tóth was a real person that Brody was mimicking. I’m sorry, but he is your Oscar Best Actor winner come Sunday 😩. Peerless performance! A very niche film with a brutal runtime, makes it hard for me to even recommend to even the hardest core arthouse film aficionados, they might actually find it too artsy surprisingly....but for me, This is beauty, this is cinema and i have an uncanny feeling, i will be seeing it again 🙌🏿. 7/10

He has this industry on lock for years and years to come if he is serious....there isn't a more talented nor bankable actor than him, around that age bracket....

It is so tiring seeing people regurgitate the same BS about Anime not being a tv show, and so doesn't fit into convos here. Forget the fact that Anime can infact be a tv show, it rarely constitutes as derailing here, as it is the occasional one or 2 good anime that comes out that it's been discussed actively here, Before Solo Leveling S2 discussions currently now, the last active Anime discussions here was AOT, some 2;years ago. All other minute anime discussions are taking to the Anime thread, so i can't even understand the faux outrage every 3 market days?. Nobody has a monopoly over this thread, anyone has the right to post any media that constitutes as a tv show here, and if you don't like it, it's best to look away...i mean, there is a muppet that has constantly posted movies on this tv shows thread for years now, and i haven't seen any of your "Anti-Anime Brigade" call the mods on the bellend for derailing, infact you guys have lapped it up as a norm now....so probably accept this too and stop the whinging 😩

abduleez1:Brooo...My film and shows load that i currently is so so full, that i have almost but all giving hope on ever seeing some...so imagine me lying to myself that i would have the time to re see those i have already seen 😩😩. Just too many media to fit into this one life time maann 😔 |
Illusioneffect:Maannn...You are on that same hype run Brother Kaycee7 was on with Arcane last year that got peeps on here so spooked, with Solo Levelling 😩. Left it at S1, tempted to come back to it, because it's all you have been talking about for weeks now.... |
abduleez1:Loved it 💚. The kind of wholesome black buddy comedy that they don't seem to making enough of, these days. I have been, noticing Nigerians or Nigerian rizz been more prominent in flicks these days, saw Stella Demasus in one show some weeks back, now there was also a Nigerian here too....our a sauce is so universally loved, the more reason it beats me, how we are not a great nation 😞. An easy easy recommendation, if you want something light, funny and fun 👍🏿 |
pu7pl3:Good point. I genuinely can't think of a show rn even from yester years, that i can sit through again, from start to finish just because of the sheer amount of new media available to see and i still have to cover 😩. |
Ozark (2017 – 2022) A slow-burning descent into darkness. I didn't get the chance to follow this faithfully during its original run, and after years of putting it off, I finally decided to give it a go this week. Few shows can grip you the way Ozark does from the first season. From the moment Marty Byrde relocates his family to the Lake of the Ozarks, the show establishes itself as a compelling, relentless, and anxiety-inducing crime drama with a hint of moral dilemma. The signature blue tint adds a cold, almost suffocating vibe that perfectly complements its tense atmosphere. Jason Bateman, better known for his comedic roles, delivers a surprisingly compelling performance as Marty, an accounting wiz and money launderer for a drug cartel. His restrained, logical demeanor contrasts beautifully with Laura Linney’s Wendy, whose transformation from reluctant accomplice to ruthless power player is one of the show’s best character arcs. Yet, for all its strengths, Ozark isn't without its flaws. I knew it was a slow burn, but the pacing was uneven, some conflicts dragged on far too long, stretching the show across four seasons when it could have easily wrapped up in two. The writers seemed undecided about what to do with certain characters, especially Charlotte and Jonah, one minute, they’re integral to the main plot, the next, they’re sidelined. And I have to say, Julia Garner’s Ruth Langmore might be in my top 10 most hated TV characters. Something about her just didn’t resonate with me. Her tough girl act wasn’t fooling anyone, or at least, not me. I have a theory that TV shows today become too good for their own good, leaving writers confused about how to end them. More often than not, they pick the worst possible conclusion, especially when the show isn’t pre-planned in its entirety from start to finish. Season 4 had a certain vibe like they were going to mess it up and they did. Instead of a cathartic resolution, the series finale was frustratingly ambiguous, leaving more questions than answers. Some character arcs that took years to build were abruptly cut off, making the payoff feel hollow. Still, Ozark is a solid, tension driven crime thriller. It doesn’t reach the heights of BB, but it holds its own in the slow burn, morally complex crime drama subgenre. As for replay value? That sour S4 makes it hard to say. But overall, it’s a good show. 7/10.

Nickshrapnel:He looked ok but vexed because it just had that one scene 😩 |
"Captain America: A Brave New World" (2025) "You're not Steve Rogers, Sam- President Thaddeus Ross". This movie exists (or not) inside of two bubbles. On one bubble, is the die hard MCU fans, who still hasn't believed, the universe tanked post 2019, and are ready to lap up, just about anything Kevin Fiege comes up with these days, whilst holding to the deluded hope that the glory days of the MCU will return. While the other bubble, comprises of those who has the famed "CBM fatigue", these lot will find absolutely no joy in this movie, it will only increase your fatigue, so it's best you stay away. That being said, There wasn't much of a story here to even give a proper plot summary but i will try. President Thaddeus Ross engages Sam Wilson to create the new avengers, then Adamantium something something...and that was the end.😭. Cons. This felt like an "Incredible Hulk" Sequel rather than a Captain America film. This movie didn't care for Sam Wilson at all nor the previous sequel, and to think this was a follow up to that, considering how good that was, the script of this was utter gob shite. A CBM is only as good as it's villain, When you think of "TDK" you'd think of The Joker, when you think of "Infinity War", you'd think of Thanos. This movie had no clear direction who the villain should be, and they 2 really good potential (or so i thought). Giancarlo Esposito has been Hollywood's leading villain material in recent times, and you'd hardly noticed he was in this, it felt like an afterthought (which it was in hindsight) with all the production issues this faced, my second choice for main villain would have been the Red Hulk, they even plastered his prop in all the promotional materials, but again he was just in one scene, albeit the only really good scene in the entire thing, they should have built on this character more. The Casting was hell, particularly that of Shira Haas from "Unorthodox", she is a full blown woman, but she has this teenager small stature build. She's a good actress but the casting crew wanted me to believe she was the Chief Security Advisor to the POTUS? 😭. Her scenes where she needed to act tough made me feel like i was seeing "Spy Kids" 😭. Maann, the messy production this had showed, after so many reshoots, this final cut is atrocious, looked like a straight to dvd flick, no single ambience of a blockbuster Pros... Sam Wilson/ Captain America's suit was so clean, the wings/shield and the sequence was pristine...deserves to be in a better movie tbh. Yet again, MCU continues to show, it has no clear direction yet, they are just winging it at the moment, just hoping something sticks and draw objective fans back, and not just the few that are still left because been a MCU fanboy somehow blinds them from the garb they bring out every now and then... If you are said objective fan, this movie won't change your mind, it might make you resent the MCU even more....... 4/10

MJBOLT:😬😬 ?

Illusioneffect:S1 held us in such chokehold that i actually thought we had found an all timer 🤦🏿♂️. And i think people have caught up with their ruse, because like the hype has actually on the bare floor now...They have lost me and seeing it now is just to pass the time... |
Omoooo x 17 Make Netflix just kukuma comot body for this "The Witcher" lore abeg, and let studios who are serious get their hands on this IP cuz what is even the actual hell?! 😩😩
|
Silentgroper:BIG ADVICE.....Leave it and find something else to watch and i know it sounds cliché, it is not for you cuz if you are expecting "one big bang" from that show, you are wasting your time, as those kind of moments are fleeting and the brilliance of the show does not lay in what you seek. |
"Invincible" is suddenly so tedious to chew through.... feels repetitive and mundane. They are just going round in circles...ugh! 😩 |
"The Whirlwind" S1 (2024) Absolute power corrupts absolutely! I often fall for the trope that K-dramas are all about cheesy rom-coms, but shows like this keep reminding me that they can do serious drama and excel at it! A prime minister hatches a crazy plan to assassinate the president to end corruption, only to face opposition from his deputy, whose entire existence thrives on the allure of power. What follows is a deadly, high-stakes game of cat and mouse for control of South Korea. I picked this up casually but quickly devoured all eight episodes in a flash. The pacing was ridiculously fast, packed with political intrigue at every turn. However, one issue I often have with K-dramas is their tendency to lean too heavily into melodrama, and that happened here toward the show’s twilight, blurring the line of realism. Still, despite that minor slip, I thoroughly enjoyed my watch. A much more solid political drama than what the West has been serving up lately. Yeah, K-dramas… talk your shît! I'm listening. 👂🏿👍🏿 7/10

pu7pl3:Also throwing in this certified banger whilst you are at it ...🤣🤣

koldrun:It's from your end...check your network or maybe switch network. |
pu7pl3:Ha 😂...had to actually check if it was not "Disbussing films" acc posting this...the premise is so so wild... Reminded me of "The Cow" premise....Bro went amok because of a cow 😩

Beorn:The other files is to allow you sing in to your Google account to use the YouTube music, so you probably have to put off your google protect to install it.... except you are cool using the YT Music without your signed in google account. |
abduleez1:Maybe it's just me but actually surprised people are making a big deal out of this because none of the previous versions have even been that all that good critically and they barely scrap anything at the box office, in fact, the last installment in 2015 or so, was so so bad. Not moved by this trailer and coming out in a "busy summer month" for movies is huge risk but am i might be wrong tho. |
Beorn:Thought you downloaded it already... it's open again... Try it. |

abduleez1:Yes lol...1k...small difference sha 😅, and i was paying 550 sef per month at one time with my uni mail. On the UI better than Spotify? I still dey doubt am. But Spotify has been doing weird shït recently that I'm now more malleable to trying other services. The UI part been better than Spotify is subjective, personally i prefer it. It's interactive, and when you switch to lyrics, there is this fine motion that goes along with it, and sometimes, in some songs, the lyrics even glow, these little details appeal to me, primarily because of my motion graphics design background 😅...but ultimately it boils down to personal preference. |
abduleez1:There is a particular function i needed Spotify for, hence my insisting on them, but around December after that news, i just clocked that the gig was up, no matter the number of mod you downloaded 😅. So i switched permanently to Apple Music, which has always been my first choice anyway....better UI, better sound quality and surprisingly cheaper sub than Spotify albeit a little difference but still....no brainer! |
Beorn:"Modded Spotify" effectively ended Nov. last year, as they tightened their belt. Any "Mod Spotify" APK is basically useless, as their server detects it within days, and cut you off. YouTube Music mod still works, if you are cool with the UI and all. There are ways to transfer your playlists and songs from Spotify to YouTube Music....

IngeniousLeez: Kaycee7:Seeee Bros...😩 I saw the flame of my hate almost go out last 2 weeks, with that record breaking nom, but this past week has injected jet fuel on it...🤭.

These sequence of events that has unravelled, this past week, couldn't have happened to a more disgusting and hypocritical movie such as this dirtbag of a flick. The Oscars should feel real stupid now, ignoring valid calls before those nominations came out, and going ahead to make this one of the highest nominated flick ever as per the Academy awards. Now they are in a pickle, If this trash goes on to win any of the big 5 awards, literally everyone is gonna eat the oscars up for been tone deaf to a movie that has pulled one of the greatest gaslight in modern cinema, but then again, if after 13 nominations, it ends up winning nothing because of the ongoing debacle, it further exposes how fraudulent and hypocritical the charade of the Academy awards has become...real ones know they hold zero credibility at this point anyways. Only Zoe Saldana deserves to walk out of all these unscathed, her performance deserves it, but i fear, all these noise envelopes it all. I am wholly in support of quite frankly, one of the worst films in recent memory failing at the biggest stage after been propped up there by misguided critics nonsense propagandist agenda...see it's failure will bring me untold respite ngl 👌🏿.

Babygirl (2024) Omooo x100 😩😩
