pu7pl3:Alhamdulillah 🙏🏾. One of the few times a spinoff might actually be better than the original. That 100% on Rotten tomatoes is not flattering at all. My weekend is set 👍🏾. |
Illusioneffect:Adrien Brody. |
pu7pl3:Like....Bro was so locked in!... insanely good actor. |
"The Apprentice" (2024). "No matter how fúck*d you are, you never, ever, ever admit defeat...You always claim Victory, Always!" A young Donald Trump making his way up the stairs of been a real estate mogul in New York, around the 70s and 80s, with the help of his friend/lawyer/political fixer, Roy Cohn. This was such a well made biopic and i think it worked largely due to the exceptional acting of the two leads... Sebastian Stan will forever be widely known as "The Winter Soldier" but bro has been able to breakout of the MCU grip, and he has been picking up roles left, right and center, and killing them all, and this was just the peak. Great costuming and his exceptional acting, nailed down the Donald Trump character, even down to his mannerisms....just brilliant stuff 👌🏿 and Jeremy Strongas Roy Cohn Maan 😩, He is one hell of a method actor, so much so that i fear if he even breaks out of character irl. it's like he just walked of that last scene of Succession, overlooking the East River, after losing virtually his life, straight into this flick. Impeccable acting but He scares me mann, he is too set on his ways and crazed with methodically playing a character, to a nerve wrecking point!. There were rumors he almost jumped into the East River whilst filming the final scene for Succession because he wouldn't just break out of character, am actually glad his wife is a psychiatrist lol. In an Ideal world, These 2 actors are your Best lead male and Best supporting male lead at the Oscars... rooting for them anyways. and Donald Trump maan, i have my reservations about this man, and he has is many flaws, but one thing about him is that, he is a born winner!...Has the right amount of tenacity and vicious drive to succeed at just about anything, and most people need this kind of tenacity to succeed in business.....heck in life! i absolutely loved this flick...top shelf stuff! 8/10

Illusioneffect:This is from your beef with the Conclave cinematography hive, some pages back? 👀 I respect and rate the hate to be honest 😩👍🏿. But all this "Dune: Part Two" gas from you, only for it to lose to the ultimate industry plant "Emilia Pèrez".... Be there....👍🏿😅
|
Illusioneffect:Lead roles una 😩...you must really like her and desperately trying to be on her side, cuz she's like a tier C actress, who apart from this movie and a show, which she went overboard to impress, that ultimately failed, she hasn't been in anything decent or had that much lead roles...Her nepo status rather than her perceived beauty (according to you anyway), is the only thing keeping her faint career alive 👍🏿. |
abduleez1:To be fair, it is not the fault of the Nigerian Cinemas, rather it is the fault of international distributors not seeing Nigeria as a viable market for some titles. Films are distributed here mainly by 2 distribution corp, namely Filmone and Silverbird, and these 2 are so limited with the kind of movies they decide to screen here. And that's probably the biggest conundrum facing a cinephile living in a poor developing nation as this. Even if you have the funds to see every of your dream movie on the big screen, there is a very high chance they might never play here. It just encapsulates the fact that, life generally here is dogshît, even with funds to be in the middle class or upper class, it doesn't guarantee a high quality of life. I have folks in saner climes who casually get invites to screenings, film festivals, who aren't even in the film industry, to see films, that you will wait months and months to see, because you live in a 3rd world hell hole. And that's why, even as much as i detest piracy, it is virtually the only chance folks get to see majority of films that releases each year. For E.G. i would have loved to see "Past Lives" (2023) on the big screen, but there was absolutely zero chance A24 were gonna distribute it here 😭. And i would also like to point out, that the Nigerian Cinemas and Distribution arm also want to make money, so they wouldn't want to screen generally unpopular titles, that will be hard for them to recoup thier investment, "unpopular titles", i mean in the context of the kind of movies that the general Nigerian cinephile sees, for E.G. Imagine, "The Brutalist" plays here, i am pretty sure the turnout will be poor. Filmone and Film House just secured the rights to screen Keke Palmer and SZA's new flick and Anora, from next week but i very much doubt, the Nigerian crowd will be trouping in to see these

OhBritannia:Insane train of thoughts ngl...like how did you even come to that conclusion to go off like that? 😭. Btw, Trump, a convicted felon, a known misogynist, and quite possibly a rapist, is not one to use as an example if you gonna climb the moral high ground here... Not even in the office for a second tenure, and he has already pulled a "pump and dump" crypto pyramid scam on his poor tiki torch rednecks loyalists....but yeah, "He is a saint, and he is gonna cleanse Hollywood".....oh please! 😩 |
abduleez1:Not gonna even blame them ngl, cuz personally, seeing a movie in 2025 that is almost 4hrs in runtime is serious nasty work lol. But on a serious note, this indiewire article typifies my sentiments about the oscar in recent years and how much of a sham it has gradually become over the years, and why it has probably lost it, as a proper metric to judge motion pictures, in my POV, at least. It's all too transactional now, getting one. It literally goes to the highest bidder, in terms of infusing woke elements or outrightly lobbying and egging the judges. Dune Part 2which might actually be the best cinematic event of last year, is having to struggle against chaffs, just because it isn't deem "oscar worthy" enough, and you actually want me to take this award, seriously? Hell No! I applaud the rare occasions now, when they rightfully give accolades to an undeniable gem, like they did with Oppie last year, but if bare asx flicks, like Emilia Perèz, Anora and the likes are getting shouts, then probably, this award has lost it's way and quite possibly it's relevance. Movies are one of art's best forms, and you should rightly appreciate them for the beauty they are and not wait for a sham and tinted award like the Oscars for validation. |
abduleez1:"Brutally slow" but kinda good 👀😩 |
Double danger season?? ⚡⚡ What is WB cooking? 😩
|
abduleez1:So wild that 90% of this are just regurgitated existing IPs, that they just be rinsing year in, year out....and seems Sony will milk the Spider-Man IP till infinity cuz what the actual hell?? and The Boys Mexico?? , what is even that shii?? Is new ideas or new IPs, an alien concept to these lot, these days? 🤷🏿♂️. I have actually started reading a book since last week, with a plot, that I haven't seen in a movie....so these movies corp aren't doing nearly enough to bring us "fresh movies", they just wanna play it safe and keep this nostalgic bait gimmick going.... sickening! |
Nickshrapnel:"The Girl Who leapt Through Time" (2006). "Time Lapse" (2014) "Predestination " (2014). "Frequency " (2000) "The Time Traveller's Wife (2009). "See You Yesterday " (2019) "Primer" (2004). "In Time" (2011). "Mr. Nobody" (2009). "About Time" (2013). "Time Crimes" (2007). "Time Trap" (2017). "12 Monkeys" (1995). "Caddo Lake" (2024). |
abduleez1:Normal medical drama. New cases each episode and the dynamics between Doctors, Nurses and their patients is the central theme. Although it seems the whole season will take place the same day and stylized like Jack Bauer's 24, like Episode one took place between 7am - 8am, and episode 2 was 8am - 9am. Nothing ground breaking as of yet, I'm a sucker for medical dramas, and that's the only reason I'm sticking with it. |
We are so unbelievably back, people! 🫐🤗

Looper (2012) What will be, will be, or it already is, but you don't just know it yet?. Set in a future where time travel exists but is illegal. Criminal organizations use it to send their targets back in time to be killed by "loopers," assassins who dispose of them. Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is one such looper who lives a hedonistic life until his future self (Bruce Willis) is sent back for execution. When old Joe escapes, the story spirals into a gripping chase that examines the consequences of their choices. I missed out on seeing it when it first came out, but i am glad i have been able to get around to it. It handles time-travel pretty well, without over complicting the paradoxes which doesn't distract from the emotional and moral core of the story. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis both deliver strong performances, convincingly portraying the same character at different stages of life. Their conflict adds emotional weight to the narrative. However the pacing was far from decent and there was little world building for the secondary characters. Time Travel is such a fascinating concept, that i wish could have been actualise in our lifetime. Like is the future inevitable? Like has the future already happened? Looper is a clever, engaging film that blends action and philosophy in a way few sci-fi movies achieve. If you are looking for non stop action blockbuster, probably look elsewhere but for those who enjoy thought-provoking narratives on the morality of time travel viz and viz cause and effect, it’s a rewarding experience. 7/10

DieRich5:There is a general misconception that Hollywood actors constantly have massive pay days and are living the dream, which is so untrue in a number of ways. Only Tier 1 actors are actually living the dream and this is a very small exclusive list, the fun stops there really. From B list actors downwards is hellish, some have to actually take second jobs, as acting might not suffice as a full fledged form of livelihood. They don't even get really acting gig to begin with. All due respect to him, i wouldn't say he is tier 2 actor, let alone tier 1, so i can understand his frustration. Mandy Moore put up a Gofundme due to the recent L.A fires, and fans were eating her up, saying she is a "millionaire", meanwhile she has had like 3 acting gig since 2019!...An actress from the hit Bernie Mac show from years ago had to open OF, just to make ends meet! Why i do agree they are underpaid, but i fear tier 2 and below actors don't even have the cajones to push for better pay, and with the advent of A.I. and other tech, thier negotiating power just got down... See the Actors, writers union strike last year or so, wasn't for tier 1 actors, No. Those ones can do one gig, and get the entire earnings for a tier 2 or 3 actor for their entire careers. Hollywood is showbiz, and it follows the same rules of showbiz. You have to be at the very top to enjoy the bigger chunk of the cake, and most importantly remain top... |
pu7pl3:Nvggas saw free frontal milkers with the basic of plot and they are on about "Anora deserves an Oscar". It should have a better shot at the AVN awards than the Oscars, if we were living in a sane world 🤷🏿♂️ |
GloriousGbola:They can't all be Matthew McConaughey....No? Actors are built differently and so are their skill sets.... some are versatile, whilst some are not, doesn't make either bad actors. So Jason Statham should reject a paying gig, and wait for the opportunity to take risk and do something different, in order not to be seen as a typecast?? What point does this prove and to whom?? Again.... Let bro eat.... |
abduleez1:You see my anger with movies like "Anora" and Emilia Pèrez and why i rated them low. They are shallow pretentious movies that are made to con critics and award panels. Dune Part Two was the best cinematic event of last year no cap and yet it is struggling to get recognition over a movie about a Gold digging stripper and a former drug lord with uncountable body count, trying to be woman and becoming a philanthropist, thinking it absolves him/her of his/her sins... The Oscars will follow the same pattern, so probably best you don't get your hopes up. |
pu7pl3:i have been seeing people's reaction to this trailer saying Jason Statham is typecast now and he should do other roles and i am baffled cuz which casting director is looking for a male lead in a Rom Com, and seriously thinks Jason Statham? 😩. He is an action star, and that's all he knows, which is fine, plus he's been doing this over 2 decades whilst becoming of the most bankable actor in the industry. He's basically at the twilight of his career at this point and he doesn't even have the luxury of picking roles, so he basically takes any role he can get, despite it been dangerously close to the role he has played before.....it is not a crime, so they should allow bro eat.....👍🏿

Illusioneffect:I wouldn't say "better", but i liked that of "The Substance" more. The close up macro shots were so good, then the color schemes used was well contrasted to produce beautiful scenery, plus a very good saturation plus they matched all these with good audio engineering, there are these background eerie sounds that make the shots even more appealing as a good body horror flick that it is....see it in HDR with an audio device that produces good audio channels, then you'd then you might appreciate the insane work that went into it. Plus Dune Part Two cinematography felt like a repeat of what they did in Part One, and with a very monochromatic color scheme. |
Ishilove:His style is super annoying, distracts alot from the actual critic of the media. Imo, he shouldn't be a yardstick for you to see media all the time, as his context might be different from yours... it's all subjective |
Illusioneffect:7/10 is far too rich or have you guys gone soft and are easily impressed by this subpar movies that these guys are churning out these days?? 🤷🏾♂️...This movie doesn't come out top 50, let alone Top 10, in 2014. If critics are praising a movie to the highest heavens, then i will be overly critic of such movie and would expect nothing but top shelf material, but this was a borefest to say the least. Dune part two ain't getting any of the Big 5 prizes imo, and the reasons are clear enough, it lacks a certain oscar spice....might get best cinematography if they are serious but i fear it even faces a strong competition from "The Substance" in the cate, as the cinematography of the later is far too supreme. |
A Real Pain (2024) Archetype Oscar-bait flick that fails to leave first gear... One of the easiest award-magnet stories to tell in movies is the Holocaust. Hollywood rinses it every now and then with varying degrees of success. This movie tried to use the same template, but it was a lethargic attempt, to say the least. Close American Jewish cousins, David and Benji, travel to Poland, the birthplace of their grandmother, to connect with their Jewish heritage. They join a Holocaust tour group along the way. The Holocaust is always an emotional story, but this movie used it as a smokescreen. The real focus was on Benji (played by Kieran Culkin), who embarks on some grief/redemption journey which was as bland as they come. Nothing worthwhile happens, and Culkin’s acting comes off as really, really annoying. Honestly, he was my least favorite character on Succession! The supporting cast was equally unremarkable. The movie seriously tries to be something it’s not, a deep, profound insight into grief. Instead, it’s as shallow as they come and ultimately forgettable. I could’ve spent the 1 hour and 30 minutes watching paint dry instead of sitting through this hogwash. Hollywood might have lost the plot. I can't expect profound movies from them anymore. they’re too focused on creating surface-level "artsy" flicks designed to attract awards and attention. Adding this, along with Anora (2024), to the list of movies I’m actively rooting for to fail at the Oscars. A Real Pain was exactly that.....a real pain to sit through. You should rightfully skip it. 👍🏿 4.5/10

pu7pl3:Seeee....It might seem selfish, but if na me be Gi Hun, i don carry my 45.6 billion won japa o. can't be arsed saving greedy people. Those people entering the games clearly knew what they were in for, and even signed consent form. The only part i fault the Squid Game organisers is that that didn't state explicitly that "elimination" actually meant topping them for good from this life...they probably thought, elimination meant when they fail a game, they allow them go home 😩💀 Gi Hun is clearly propped up to be the hero of the whole thing, so most likely he will have a big hand in ending the games, come S3. |
phr0nesis:As in...Peak fooling from him even going back to the games... Baba boom sportybet, e dey go fight sportybet make dem close the site 😩...Baba carry your winnings and go!....He basically achieved nothing going back in there, and get serious people who wanted to win money, killed for no reason. |
pu7pl3:As in very very stupid move tbh, like what was even the end game?? 😭....The front man twist was sleek as hell.....Gi hun just dey tell enemy him plan, word for word and the mumu no know...😭😩. |
abduleez1:Seeee "money na really water" 😩😩😩.... People from the abroad, hardly believe that we are suffering with the way we jaiye in this country.. All the malls were packed full this festive season, and all December Nollywood releases made massive payday...which is a very good thing...i just hope they continue to put that money to good use and make better movies with high production value and true blockbuster status. |
BlackManta:This "Black men/Deadbeat" stereotype is so wild and overly bias. White Men do this same shii you are boldly accusing black men for, all the time. It just doesn't get as much rep, because of colorism tbh. "Beautiful Black Women with glowing career only to end up dating hoodlums una"😩....The said beautiful black women are as much as complacent as the Hoodlums cutting their glowing careers short. Their poor decisions lead them there. |
majesticguy:Seee...i saw so many negative reviews that it was meh and i almost passed it up, only for me to see it, and i low key almost enjoyed it more than S1 sef. Yeah, the whole thing was just centered on greed, and the love of money, but then again, i can't really blame them, some where in pretty dire situation. Like that Baba that was in debt of 10 billion won, which work e wan work to clear that kind gbesè apart from playing Squid Game? 😩😩. |
pu7pl3:Broooooo..... like what the actual hell! You instantly just feel the dread as they scrambled to occupy the rooms at the countdown starts...mann they cooked with the games this season....Baba Gi-hun was yapping trash, talmbout "how he knows all the games", Game 2 and they switched shii up, baba shock 😭😭 |
